C1 – PRIX DE LA MICHODIERE – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Newcomers Race – Flat – EUR € 27,000

  1. VELIKAYA – Newcomer by Frankel, the dam won 2 races and was 2nd in a Group 2 and 2nd in the Poule D’Essai Des Pouliches Gr.1. Bold show can be expected on her debut
  2. HOSAKA – Newcomer by Lord Kanaloa, the dam won 2 races and was Listed and Group 3, and Group 1 placed. One to watch in the betting for clues
  3. MAJOLIQUE – Newcomer by Tigron, the dam won over fences. From a stable not renowned for having many winners on debut. Any market support could be a positive
  4. MIA MODENA – Unraced filly by Zelzal, the dam was placed once from only three runs. Looks good on paper and any market support should be noted
  5. LA BANEZA – Unraced by Lope De Vega, the dam never ran. From a leading stable who will have this filly well tuned. She can have a say at the finish
  6. RIGEL – Filly by Goken, the dam won 1 race. Likely to need this run for experience. Watch the betting patterns
  7. SPANGLED STAR – Unraced by Starspangledbanner, the dam never ran. Stable runners warrant respect on debut. Any market support should be noted
    Summary: VELIKAYA (1) looks like the standout on paper. Being by Frankel and out of a classy mare who was second in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Gr.1), she has the pedigree and connections to make an impact. Expect a strong showing. LA BANEZA (5) also boasts smart breeding and hails from a top yard — market confidence would be a telling indicator of readiness. SPANGLED STAR (7) comes from a shrewd stable and is likely to be tuned up for her first run. MIA MODENA (4) shouldn’t be overlooked either.

  9. MOTU PROPRIO – 5th in a Listed race last time in early March at Chantilly, a win before that on February 8th at Deauville in a maiden race over 1300m. One to keep safe
  10. HONEYFLOWER – Got off the mark on her third run over 1350m at Lyon Parilly on April 23rd. Should keep on improving and be involved
  11. YOGA MASTER – 7th last time, 4th before that in a Class 1 race at Chantilly on March 24th over 1900m. Can get back on track
  12. HAARLEM – Got a win over 1350m at Senonnes on her last start on April 12th. More is required in a much stronger race
  13. MISTY QUALITY – Got a deserved win over 1600m at Nantes on April 9th last time in a maiden race. Can have say in proceedings
  14. GRECIAN COMET – 4th last time in a Class 2 race on March 25th at Saint-Cloud over 1600m. Might need a few to misfire
  15. THE WASP – Several unplaced runs, the latter over 1400m at Saint-Cloud in a conditions race on April 4th. Makes no appeal
  16. KNUCKLE – Won on her second run over 1650m in a maiden at Machecoul on April 21st. This will be more challenging
  17. JOKLA – Two good runs, 3rd on debut last September and won over 1600m at La Teste on March 22nd on her first run this year. Lightly raced and has more to come
    Summary: Several with a chance of scoring in this Class 2 race. YOGA MASTER (4) was a good fourth in a Class 1 race two runs back and will find this race more to her liking. She can score from HONEYFLOWER (3), who broke her maiden last time at Lyon Parilly late last month. JOKLA (10) won nicely at La Teste in March and is one to look at each way. SHIRIBETSU (1) won on debut at Saint-Cloud in mid-April and has plenty more to come.

    Summary: NARGIZ (7) ran well when fourth in a maiden at Saint-Cloud last time out and can get off the mark in her first handicap. YELLOW HAWK (9) shaped well to be third at Lyon Parilly late last month and can have a say in proceedings. LA PAMPA (6) got off the mark at Chantilly late last month and looks like the logical each-way option. MELLOW YELLOW (1) has been placed on the last three runs and looks best of the others.

    Summary: In a racing lacking depth, it may pay to side with GRIGNETTE (4), who was not beaten far when she was seventh on the PSF at Chantilly early last month. GRAND MACHO (9) could be the one that gives the selection the most to think about. HIGH VIOLET (1) was a decent third two runs back at Nancy in early April and merits consideration. DRACO (6) is not the most reliable, but he can make the top four.

    Summary: PAINTELLO (2) ran a solid race at Compiegne when second late last month in a Class 3 handicap. He can go one place better this time. EN PLEIN AIR (12) is capable of making the selection work hard for success. He has a top rider booked in Cristian Demuro and races off a good racing weight. MASTER PAT (7) has been placed on the last two runs and is one to be with each way. STORMYGO (3) makes up the shortlist.

  58. SCANDALO – 6th last time in a Class 2 race on May 4th over 1400m at this track, 2nd previously over 1400m in a Listed race at Chantilly on October 12th. One to consider
  59. DIEGO VENTURA – Has decent form in the UK of late, 3rd at Newmarket over 1400m in a Listed race last time on May 2nd. Can be effective
  60. EPSON BLUE CEN – Fair 3rd in a Listed race at this track over 1400m on April 24th last time. Ought to be in the shake-up
    Summary: DIEGO VENTURA (4) makes the journey over from the UK and could edge this after a solid effort when third in a well-contested Listed race at Newmarket 13 days ago. He is marginally preferred over AFOGADO (2), who missed out on a hat-trick of wins last time, when second over course and distance in a Listed race on April 24th. EPSON BLUE CEN (5) was back in third in the same race and is worth considering.

  76. PRINCESSE MANDEL – Two unplaced runs this year, the latter over 1300m at this track on April 24th in a handicap. Promise last year and warrants respect
    Summary: AVENTINO (10) has a good racing weight and has been in solid form recently. He is given the vote following a strong effort at this track late last month, when third. PRINCE AUBOIS (3) poses a threat after breaking his maiden in a handicap from a wide draw over 1300m here on April 24th, though he is not ideally drawn in stall 16. PRECIOSO (4) produced a pleasing second in a Class 2 race at Fontainebleau last month and can be involved, as can SWEET CHOP (1), despite carrying top weight. TYWIN (14) is another worth considering.

    Summary: MATGIWELL (13) could be the answer to this open handicap to end the card. She was a decent third at Limoges earlier this month and can be competitive. FAL DARA (11) could be the main danger, she scored two runs back at Mont-De-Marsan in late April. STELLA MARINA (9) won last year over 2450m and has placed form over 3000m last year, so will stay this trip and can make the frame. GOLD PALACE (3) looks best of the remainder.

  2. MAESTRIA JIEL – Finished fourth on her debut in Class F at this track over 2200m on 27 April. Could earn some money this longer distance
  3. MANON DU CHENE – Showed some improvement second time out when third in Class F at Amiens over 2900m on 3 May. Has a place chance
  4. MAHRANA DU HAUTY – Disqualified last time out at Amiens on 3 May. Did better before that and has a place chance if wise this time
  5. MIKA DU PONT – Has improved with each run and was third in Class F at Amiens over 2400m on 26 April. Could play a minor role
  6. MILORD DE BLARY – Showed some promise on debut when runner-up in Class F at Bernay over 2300m on 1 May. Can make the frame
  7. MISTER CARNOIS – Only found one better on his debut, in Class F at Nancy over 2600m on 21 April. Be right there at the finish
  8. MA CHOUCHOU – Has improved with each run and was runner-up in Class F at Arras over 2900m on 27 April. Can contest the finish
  9. MIRAGE D’ARDENNES – Has run well in both his starts and was third in Class E at Cavaillon over 2525m on 8 April. Has a winning chance
  10. MARANELLA – A bit of a disappointment when 5th in Class F at Challans over 2900m on 27 April. Did better on debut and she has a winning chance
  11. MORGANE DE HOERDT – Returned from a break in good shape and was runner-up in Class F at this track over 2200m on 9 March. Can go one better this time
  12. MAGIC DU SAPTEL – Unreliable and was tenth in a claimer at Enghien over 2875m on 17 April. Capable of better but others are preferred
    Summary: MORGANE DE HOERDT (11) only found one too good on the day when returning from a break. She steps up in distance and has a big winning chance. MARANELLA (10) is better judged on her debut performance and should be a threat if repeating that effort. MIRAGE D’ARDENNES (9) has shown promise and would not be a surprise winner. MISTER CARNOIS (7) ran well on debut at Nancy and can go one better this time.

  14. LOVER DREAM – Showed some improvement second time out when 5th in Class G at Amiens over 2400m on 26 April. Could earn some minor money
  15. LOLITA CLUB – Finished fourth on her debut in Class G over this track and trip on 27 April. Can be very competitive in this line-up
  16. LOREL DE L’ORMERIE – Has major disqualification issues and faulted last time out at Mons on 17 April. Hard to trust and is best watched for now
  17. LORELEI DE LUBEL – Disqualified last time out at Elbeuf on 27 April. Has struggled since winning on debut and others are preferred
  18. LATITUDE CASTELETS – Yet to win a race but was not disgarced when fourth in Class H at Châlons-en-Champagne over 2600m on 8 May. Might play a minor role
  19. LOOK A VISTA – A winner of two of four starts but was tenth last time out in Class F at Bihorel-lès-Rouen over 2500m on 20 October. Returns from a break and could need this run
  20. LE BOSS DU CHENE – Has disqualification issues and was 7th last time out in Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche over 2700m on 28 April. Hard to trust but could make the frame

  23. LOTUS JIEL – Probably needed his only run of this year when 9th in Class F at Nancy over 2600m on 29 March. Capable of better and others are preferred
  24. LEIPZIG TEK – Not disgraced when 5th in Class F at Pontivy over 2700m on 4 May. Can contest the finish this time around
    Summary: LARZAC DE HOUELLE (9) has finished runner-up in both starts since going barefoot. He remains without shoes and could score this time. LEIPZIG TEK (12) has shown improvement of late but finished behind that rival last time out. LOLITA CLUB (3) was not disgraced on debut over this course and distance. She should improve and be a danger. LAURYN JIEL (10) is consistent and also holds a winning chance.

    Summary: A very weak race. IT’S DU QUENNE (6) has only won once in 50 starts and was disqualified last month. He does, however, look the pick of this bunch if wise all the way around.     Summary: Winner at Chartres before repeating in better company at Cordemais last month, LEADER BOURBON (6) races clockwise for the first time this season and with Eric Raffin reining can secure the hat-trick. They will however meet opposition from the widely-drawn LOST DES COUPERIES (8) who also comes here on a 3-timer, and the better-placed LALICIO BELLO (3) who is plainly close to winning another. In the frame in his last 2, LULU DES CARREAUX (5) finished a place behind the latter that day and Mathieu Mottier gets the nod.

  84. MERMOZ – 3rd on debut before repeating in a 2400m Nort-sur-Erdre Class E a week ago. Eric Raffin gets the nod this time and will be expected to contest the finish
    Summary: MAMBO DE CAHOT (9) did just enough in last autumn’s qualification but showed another side on last month’s debut and has a reasonable chance of losing his maiden status. That said, MERMOZ (12) has shown significant potential and will be partnered by Eric Raffin for the first time. Stablemate MADMAX JEF (11) has a similar profile and should logically figure prominently. Fastest qualifier in the field, MINUS DE CHENU (7) debuted decently earlier in the month and will have come on for the run.

  87. LILI DU CHERISAY – A model of consistency but has not been seen out since running 3rd of 6 in a 2800m Chartres Class E last November and will need the race
  88. LIBERTINE D’ERABLE – Gave a fine account on 2nd start back, running 3rd of 12 in a 2700m Graignes Class E late last month, and from the 4-spot will have her chances
  89. LIANGA – Was on a fine run of form before being sanctioned in a 3200m Fougeres Class F 2 weeks ago. Can be excused that run and Valentin Testard will be keen to put things right
  90. LOVE ME BECO – Failed to confirm recent success when sanctioned in a 3100m Nort-sur-Erdre Class F a week ago. Is clearly in form though and will not be far off the mark if Maxime Bézier assures her initial strides
  91. LA DIVINE ECUS – Winner of last 2, latterly a 2675m Le Mont-Saint-Michel Class F 2.5 weeks ago, and is in with a realistic shout of making it 3 on the trot
  92. LUTECE PLANCHETTE – Honest filly that came 5th of 8 finishers in a 2400m Beaumont-de-Lomagne Class E late last month. Top driver in the bike and, despite the wide draw, will be no easy touch
  93. LUEUR MAJYC – Faulted on re-entry late-March in a 2450m Caen Class E. Sanctioned more often than not and others easier to back
  94. LILIONALLY – Last of 8, on return to competition, in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F on 4 May. Races first-time barefoot but still not easy to like
  95. LYRIC – 4th of 11 in a 2450m Caen monte Class E late-March. Here for reasons of conditioning and cannot be considered a player
  96. LEYLI DE LA VALLEE – Sprang something of a surprise when successful in a 3200m Fougeres Class F a fortnight back. A repeat seems improbable but sports modified shoeing and will have her supporters
    Summary: Like a horse reborn this year, LA DIVINE ECUS (7) makes her Meslay debut on a hat-trick and with Matthieu Abrivard reining has every chance of pulling it off. She will nevertheless encounter resistance from the more widely-drawn LUTECE PLANCHETTE (8) who benefits from an Eric Raffin drive this time, and a reconfigured LIBERTINE D’ERABLE (4) who is ideally-positioned on the front line. LOVE ME BECO (6) faulted after imposing at Le Mont-Saint-Michel
    and should not be too hastily judged.

  99. MUSIC BAULOISE – Has not been seen out since qualifying in 1’19″7 at Grosbois last September and others easier to like
  100. MYRINA DU PONT – Has not been seen out since being sanctioned on debut in a 2000m Class F at La Capelle last November and will need the run
  101. MALICIA DU ROCHER – Sanctioned in a 2750m Elbeuf Class G last week. Has done nothing noteworthy to date and can expect to have few friends
  102. MAYA DE LA FYE – 6th of 11 in a 2800m Chartres Class F on 13 April. Yet to show any flair for the game and can be ruled out
  103. MAYENNE COMMAYENNE – Pleased on debut before faulting in a 2100m Cholet Class F on 21 April. Should take well to Meslay conditions and with stride in check will not be far off the mark
  104. MAESTRIA DE CHENU – 3rd of 7 finishers on debut in a 2800m Cholet Class F 2 weeks ago. Is not about to open her account but has the wherewithal to finish in the money
  105. MELINA BILOU – Encouraged at Bihorel-lès-Rouen before being sanctioned in a 2800m Villedieu-les-Poëles Class G early this month and is not about to spring a surprise
  106. MERRY DE MALABRY – Debuted nicely when 2nd of 12 in a 2150m Ranes Class G 3.5 weeks ago. Champion driver in the wagon this time and winning this is well within her capacity
  107. MISS BABY DU SURF – Qualified unremarkably and was sanctioned on debut a week ago, losing her action in a 2400m Nort-sur-Erdre Class E, and can be passed over
  108. MIRABELLA DU CEBE – Disappointed here before coming 2nd of 7 finishers in a 2975m Jallais Class G 11 days ago. Takes a notable step up in category though and chances appear limited
  109. MARITZA D’ORION – Failed to confirm Lisieux performance when sanctioned in a 2800m Vire Class F a week ago. Pleased on debut here mid-March and even though in better company, will have her supporters
  110. MUSICA JULMA – Pleasant in first 2 starts before being sanctioned when well-supported in a 2850m Laval Class F on 18 April. Matthieu Abrivard in the bike this time and will afford her every chance
  111. MACARENA DE MARZY – 2nd of 12 in a 2700m Graignes Class F on debut 2 weeks ago. Is sure to have benefitted from the race and can again figure prominently
    Summary: Untried they may be but both MA AM CHENU (1) and MELIA BARBES (2) qualified well here last season, have had time to come on, and one has as good a chance as the other of getting her nose in front. MERRY DE MALABRY (10) left a good impression on last month’s debut and with Eric Raffin reining, is unlikely to disappoint. MACARENA DE MARZY (15) may not have qualified until March but she caught the eye at Graignes a fortnight ago and must be respected.
