Tamfana NB – 2.35
is rated a value option for the BoyleSports Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
David Menuisier’s filly made a satisfactory return to action when second to Dancing Gemini at Sandown, where it was the winner who showed the benefit of a previous outing.
Tamfana is 5lb better off for this rematch and should be so much sharper.
On these terms, she finished two and a half lengths ahead of Dancing Gemini when third behind Charyn in last October’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, having been sent off at 7-2 compared to the 50-1 odds of her old foe.
An earlier defeat of Inspiral in the Sun Chariot at Newmarket showed Tamfana can deliver on the big stage and this could be her day to shine again, with high-class colts Rosallion and Notable Speech lacking a recent blow-out.
The action at Newbury begins with the Sky Sports Racing Aston Park Stakes and the booking of Ryan Moore to ride
King’s Gambit NB – 12.50
obviously catches the eye.
Harry Charlton’s charge has proven course form, having scored here as a juvenile and when crushing subsequent Triumph Hurdle hero Poniros on this same card 12 months ago.
The son of Saxon Warrior went on to perform with great credit in better company and looks just the type to improve again from three to four, especially after being gelded.
Clive Cox’s
Hold A Dream NB – 1.25
has plenty to recommend her in the Highclere Castle Gin Carnarvon Stakes.
Her promising juvenile form included a narrow second to Sky Majesty at this track, plus a decent Yarmouth success, and there was a lot to like about her seasonal reappearance at Chelmsford.
In what appeared a solid Listed-class contest, she briefly hit the front late on before just being touched off by Irish raider Lady With The Lamp.
Nebras NB – 2.00
has to carry top weight in the Trade Nation London Gold Cup Handicap but that may not stop him.
The son of Dubawi is a half-brother to Nashwa and was tried in Group One company himself in last year’s Futurity following a debut strike at Newmarket.
A Southwell defeat when sent off at short odds for his three-year-old bow was frustrating, but there was then no disgrace in finishing second to Alpine Trail at Headquarters and he should now be spot on fitness-wise.
Richard Hannon has his string in rude health and that makes
Miss Collada NM – 1.40
of interest in the JCB Handicap at Newmarket over seven furlongs.
Her form has been up and down since a nice double around this time last year but wearing blinkers for the first time could prove significant.
Classic Encounter NM – 2.15
can continue on an upward curve in the Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Handicap.
Just like half-brother Imperial Emperor, he failed to live up to expectations for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby but is now getting his act together under the care of George Boughey.
He won going away at Redcar and finished first in his group when runner-up in a competitive Newmarket contest at the start of the month.
