Fine Form
Arizona Blaze HY – 3.00
can cement his Royal Ascot claims with victory in the Betfred Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock.
Adrian Murray’s charge has been well tried already in his short career, winning at Group Three level last year before twice placing at the highest level, most notably when beaten just half a length by Magnum Force in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf.
A winner at Dundalk first time up this year, he then found subsequent French 2000 Guineas winner Henri Matisse too strong when upped to seven furlongs, with his rider fully testing his stamina reserves by trying to make all.
Back at six furlongs in France last time, Arizona Blaze returned to winning form, proving this trip is his optimum and already having shown plenty of versatility in terms of ground.
Mgheera HY – 3.30
has made a flying start for Ed Walker and can double up in the Betfred Temple Stakes.
Previously trained in France, the five-year-old offered an immediate return on her E250,000 purchase price when lifting a ParisLongchamp Group Three on French Guineas weekend.
She was fully in control in coming home a length and a half clear, with her mares’ allowance putting her right in the mix with top-weight and Breeders’ Cup winner Starlust.
Seaplane GO – 2.05
starts his campaign in the British Stallion Studs EBF Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood.
While he has just a Newmarket maiden win on his CV, he was a promising performer for Paul and Oliver Cole, so much so he contested the Futurity Trophy on his final start at two.
The Golden Horn colt tried to do it the hard way in front and that told in the final furlong as Hotazhell and leading Derby candidate Delacroix fought out the finish, with Seaplane coming home nearly six lengths adrift.
Delacroix has done the form no harm at all this year and Seaplane’s pedigree suggests middle distances should be well within his compass, with half-sister Sumo Sam an accomplished stayer for his yard.
Janey Mackers GO – 3.15
is worth another chance in the BetGoodwin Height Of Fashion Stakes.
She looked smart in winning one of her two juvenile outings last term but upped to Listed company at Newmarket earlier in the month, she proved no match for Falakeyah, coming home a distant sixth of seven.
Good to firm ground was against her there, so any rain in Sussex would be a positive for her.
Wathnan Racing follow a familiar path as
Naval Light BE – 2.45
makes his racecourse bow in the bet365 Two Year Old Trophy EBF Conditions Stakes at Beverley.
The Emir of Qatar’s operation sent Shareholder to win the Westwood contest last year on his initial start before he headed to Royal Ascot for victory in the Norfolk Stakes.
Like Shareholder, Naval Light was a spring breeze-up purchase at Tattersalls in April, so he will certainly have hit the ground running at home for Karl Burke.
Nick Bradley Racing holds the key to the Hilary Needler Trophy EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes and of the owner’s trio,
Artista BE – 2.10
can emerge victorious after a successful Beverley run last time out.
Rashabar CU – 3.40
could create a surprise in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
He is available at generous odds considering he twice placed at the top level last term and was not beaten far by Jonquil in the Greenham, with that runner only just denied in the French Guineas.
Admittedly he suffered a minor setback since his initial April run, but Brian Meehan would not be fielding him here if he were not back on top form.
