Star jockey Blake Shinn is hopeful of returning to race riding in time for Saturday’s dual Group 1 meeting at Eagle Farm after sustaining a minor injury earlier in the week.
Shinn suffered the setback during the Cranbourne jumpouts on Monday morning and subsequently missed his scheduled rides at Seymour on Tuesday and Sale on Wednesday.
Despite the interruption, the Group 1-winning hoop is optimistic about his recovery and remains focused on making it to Queensland Derby Day.
“I’m fully focused on my recovery, with the help of RV doctor Ben Barresi,” Shinn said.
“We’re doing everything we can to be back in the saddle for Saturday’s Queensland Derby Day.”
Shinn is slated for key rides this weekend, including Femminile in the Queensland Derby and Rise At Dawn in the Kingsford-Smith Cup.
