TRY STORM CAT TO POUNCE AT PONTEFRACT

Fine Form
Try Storm Cat PO – 2.30

should open his account at the third time of asking for Charlie Johnston in the EBF Novice Stakes at Pontefract.
The Saxon Warrior colt was a fine third over course and distance on his debut and was then just touched off at Hamilton a few weeks later by one who was not beaten too far in the Windsor Castle.
Being by Saxon Warrior and a relation of French Derby winner Study Of Man, Try Storm Cat will likely want further than the six furlongs he faces here, but he has shown more than enough to suggest he is up to winning a race of this nature.
Cosmos Raj PO – 3.30
can get back on the winning trail in the Every Raceday Is Autism Friendly At Pontefract Handicap, despite the burden of top-weight.
David O’Meara’s charge has a consistent overall profile, with his recent fifth at Wetherby being the first time he has finished outside of the first three in eight starts.
A slow pace was his undoing last time as he really needs a strong gallop to race off over a mile. If he gets that here, he should be heavily involved.
Kaleido WD – 6.45
attracted plenty of attention before he made his debut last season as a full-brother to the brilliant Mishriff. The latter won the French Derby, Juddmonte International and Sheema Classic on turf before proving he was adaptable by winning the Saudi Cup on dirt.
Kaleido promised plenty when second at Doncaster on his introduction in October and was then third on his April reappearance at Newmarket.
The second from that race, Nakeeb, has since won and Kaleido may not need to improve a huge amount to get off the mark in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Stakes at Windsor.
Julie Camacho’s
Indian Run WD – 7.15
has been running very well of late and it might be his turn to get his head in front in the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap.
Beaten only a length and a half by unlucky Wokingham runner-up More Thunder at Newmarket, he was then third behind Aramram at Newbury, form which outside the big festivals is just about the strongest.
Off the same mark of 95 he should go close and potentially book his ticket for the Stewards’ Cup.
Queen Of Steel FF – 4.45
has been in great form for Fergal O’Brien, winning at Nottingham and Pontefract.
She is now a full stone higher in the weights for the Swift Sprite Sprint @ 3A’s Handicap at Ffos Las and is up 5lb for her latest win, but looks the one to
beat still.
Charlie Appleby’s
Time To Turn WL – 6.30
looks the safest proposition at Wolverhampton in the Highbet Bet #10 Get #30 Maiden Stakes.
The Dark Angel colt has bumped into two smart sorts to date, meaning he has been an beaten odds-on favourite twice.
Stablemate Maximized beat him on debut and went on to win the Woodcote at Epsom and he was then beaten by a Clive Cox newcomer in A Bit Of Spirit who looks above average.
