  1. KISS YOU PIYA – Fifth in a class A at this track over 2750m on 1 August. Reverts to barefoot. Can get into the action
  2. KISS ME DU LIVET – Unplaced in a class E at Rambouillet over 2800m on 20 April. Probably will need the run back. Probably best watched
  3. KEOPS DU BUHOT – Fourth in a class E at this track over 2750m on 8 August. Barefoot in front. Others make more of an appeal
  4. KING DE GINAI – A winner in a class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel over 2675m on 17 August. Remains barefoot. A runner-up on this track in the penultimate, and warrants attention
  5. KITTS ET NEVIS – Disqualified in a class D at Enghien over 2875m on 13 August. Tries barefoot. Must be smart to have a say
  6. KAGNOTTE D’AZIF – Fourth in a class D at this track over 2750m on 18 July. Remains barefoot. Performs well in both disciplines and is not out of it
  7. KRYSTAL PIYA – Third in a class D at Enghien over 2875m on 13 August. Is plainly in fine shape and is unlikely to be too far from the action
  8. KOBALT DU VALLON – Fifth in a Mounted class C at Enghien over 2250m on 27 July. Runs in irons. Others are much preferred
  9. KUEEN’S PRIDE – A winner in a class D at Argentan over 2150m on 9 August. Remains barefoot. Looking to make it five in a row, and does look hard to oppose
  10. KANAKA DE BUSSET – Unplaced in a class C at Enghien over 2150m on 10 July. Runs in irons. Is not about to generate much interest
  11. KASSYA – Ran 10th in a class D at Le Croise-Laroche over 1900m on 23 June. Remains barefoot. Needs to find a few lengths
  12. KAZY MERITE – Disqualified in a class D at La Capelle over 2750m on 21 July. Remains barefoot. When applied is competitive and deserves some respect
    Summary: KUEEN’S PRIDE (9) has been a barefoot winner in her last seven starts. She is barefoot again and can extend the sequence. KING DE GINAI (4) has shown improvement of late and can contest the finish. KRYSTAL PIYA (7) is not entirely reliable but is capable of being involved at the finish. KISS YOU PIYA (1) is barefoot this time and can make the frame if allowed to lead, as he does like this course and distance.

  15. JUST LOVE D’ALSACE – Made it 3 wins from last 4 starts when comfortably securing a 2000m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 12 days ago. David Thomain in the bike again and while unlikely to repeat can nevertheless finish in the mix
  16. ITON DES LANDES – Returns to the professional ranks after finishing 5th of 8 in a 2575m Bacqueville-en-Caux Class H 2 weeks ago and can be confidently disregarded
  17. JAGUAR GEMA – Back under harness after running 4th of 13 in a 3100m Chinon Class F mid-month. Is plainly in shape but in this field can be passed over
  18. JAG DE TOI – Steps back up in category after coming 3rd of 9 in a 2600m Berck-sur-Mer Class F mid-month but has a lot more to find
  19. JOB KERVILOU – 8th of 11 behind JOLI DE CONNEE (10) in a 2725m Pornichet Class F a fortnight ago. Goes barefoot this time and the engagement of Franck Nivard will do his prospects no disservice
  20. JOHNNY QUICK – Continued his productive ways when 3rd of 9 in a 2500m Class F at La Rochelle early this month. Unlikely to get his nose in front this time but can again make the frame
  21. JAZZMAN BLUES – Got back in the winners’ circle after securing a 2975m Redon Class F mid-month. Has placed just once in 4 Cabourg starts but with Gabriele Gelormini in the bike will be afforded every chance
  22. JOLI DE CONNEE – 3rd of 11 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F on 14 August. Has right-handed form, starts in front, and the Lebourgois-factor cannot be ignored
  23. JAZZ – By no means disgraced when 6th of 10 in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Is in his category here and looks a respectable first-5 prospect
  24. JEUX D’ACTION – Eliminated in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne a week ago. Has been a write-off all year and will have nothing to offer
  25. JAGUAR DU LOISIR – Last of 6 finishers in a 2800m Vichy Class G early this month. Sports front pads this time and the handicap will do him no favours
  26. JOYEUX NONNA – Out of the picture in last 3, most recently 7th of 16 in a 2850m Brehal Class F 2.5 weeks ago, and under these conditions has no possible chance
  27. JANNIG D’EREVAN – Eliminated when preparing for this in a 2900m Dozule Class F last week. Sébastien Ernault in the bike this time and despite the penalty has every chance of imposing
  28. JAGUAR FLORAL – Won 4 from 5 before being eliminated in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class G 2 weeks ago. Failed to deliver on sole Cabourg appearance but enjoys a good entry and can bring the fight to JANNIG D’EREVAN (15)
    Summary: Back on a hard surface after losing his action at Dozule, JANNIG D’EREVAN (15) will be shod to preference this time and should have the measure of the field. An excellent servant when focused, JAGUAR FLORAL (16) leads the opposition, with JOHNNY QUICK (8) unlikely to disappoint from the first row. Reassuring at Pornichet recently, JOLI DE CONNEE (10) will be reunited with Yoann Lebourgeois.

  43. LAUREN DE BEYLEV – Third in a class E at this track over 2725m on 8 August. Remains barefoot. A previous track winner who has every chance again
  44. KIRA DE CAHOT – Fifth in a class E at this track over 2725m on 22 August. Tackled on all fours. A consistent sort who can get into the action
    Summary: LADY DU CHATELET (13) fluffed her lines with a disqualification at Carentan earlier this month. She had been in good form all year and even completed a hat-trick. She can resume her winning ways. LAUREN DE BEYLEV (15) likes this track and is in good form, so she should be a threat. LA BELLE VIE (6) has done best when barefoot but did not run badly with this shoeing last time, so she must be respected. LIPSKA (7) has disqualification issues but is capable of scoring when staying in stride.

  59. JULIANA DE RETZ – A runner-up in a class A at Brehal over 3400m on 27 July. Remains barefoot. Seldom far off them when applied, and warrants attention
    Summary: JACK DES ASS (8) has been very impressive since May, winning his last seven starts. Most of those victories came on grass, but he did win his only start at this track and clearly sets the standard. JULIANA DE RETZ (15) has yet to win this year but has finished runner-up a couple of times and can contest the finish. JAIN MAB (14) disappointed at Royan La Palmyre but is clearly capable of better and is not out of it. HOMMAGE DE TILLARD (10) remains barefoot and in good form, so must also be considered a threat.

    Summary: A very open-looking race. KOLOSSE RHODES (11) is not reliable but is coming off a good course-and-distance win and can follow up if in the same mood. KATKO DES CAILLONS (10) is much more reliable than that rival and will not go down easily this time. KAID DU WALLON (12) is usually competitive and looks likely to be involved at the finish once again. KARTING DU VIVIER (7) is hard to trust but is capable of shining brightly.

    Summary: LOBAYE (7) is unbeaten in three starts this year, the last two when barefoot. He looks hard to oppose. LEMON CURD (8) was a barefoot winner at Clairefontaine-Deauville, remains barefoot, and is a threat. LUXURY DU DOUAROU (11) has yet to win a race but is in good shape and can make the frame. LORD EAGLE (9) is very consistent and is barefoot for the first time, so must be respected for that.

  99. MADONE DU TRIEUX – Disqualified in a Group 3 at Vincennes over 2200m on 14 February. Has major disqualification issues and could need this run returning from a break
  100. MICHIKO – Knocking loudly at the door and was runner-up in class D at this track over 2725m on 1 July. Be right there at the finish
  101. MIRZA DU BOUILLON – Only modest of late and was 7th in class B at Graignes over 2700m on 9 August. On a long losing streak and needs to improve to win
    Summary: MOON DREAM (10) has yet to win a race but has been running well all year and should make a bold bid to beat these rivals. MICHIKO (13) is threatening another win and looks right at home over this track and trip. MANON DU CHENE (8) is progressing nicely and will not go down easily. MOLLY DU VALLON (9) is competitive and proven over this course and distance, making her a strong contender.

    Summary: LADY STRYCK (9) showed improved form in her first race under the saddle and can follow up to take out this lucky last. LICORNE DE LA JOIE (8) is not easy to trust but looked much improved over this track and trip last time out and can be a threat. LIGELLA DU VIVIER (7) ended a run of disqualifications with a solid win and can challenge for top honours again. LADY DE FOUQUE (10) seems better than her latest disqualification suggests.

  2. MODJO CHEF – Has not been seen out since winning a 2850m Class F at Maure-de-Bretagne in May and is going to need the race
  3. MODERN STYLE – 3rd of 11 in a 2950m Le Mans Class E late last month, on first start on a hard surface. Passed his test with flying colours and will be expected to give MILORD DES CHARMES (6) a run for his money
  4. MAMBO PLANCHETTE – In the frame in last 2, latterly 2nd of 12 in a 2750m Class F at La Capelle late last month. Mathieu Mottier gets the nod and will be expected to finish thereabouts
  5. MAGNIFIK BOSDARROS – Modest sort that ran 6th of 10 in a 2750m Cabourg claimer 2.5 weeks ago and in this field looks a rank outsider
  6. MILORD DES CHARMES – Should not be condemned for losing his action in a 2500m Class D at La Rochelle earlier in the month. Is plainly in rude health and can expect to garner the lion’s share of support
  7. MEADOWLANDS – Quality element making first start since running 2nd of 11 in a 2450m Caen Class E 5 months ago and will be eased back in gently
  8. MISS LADY DU DAN – 8th of 10 finishers when prepping for this in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a month ago. Will have come on for the run and looks considerably more dangerous on this occasion
  9. MAERLINE D’AVEL – Makes Laval debut after losing her maiden status in a 2725m Pornichet Class F 2 weeks ago. Comes here with morale intact and steps up in category with a good hand to play

    Summary: She may not be the most experienced horse in the field but LIBRA SUPREME (5) has done nothing but improve this term and looks eminently capable of confirming her July success. Romain Le Creps will be justifiably wary though of LEELY DE BLARY (8) who faces a less arduous task than she did on re-entry earlier in the month. LEGENDE D’EOLE (1) opened her summer account in late-July and thrives with Eric Raffin. LILIBETH SMART (12) is back to racing shod after her latest fault but with application will be no pushover.

  50. JACANA DE BLARY – Put in a good effort to come 3rd of 12 in a 2625m Cherbourg Class F 11 days ago. May not be everyone’s cup of tea but still looks to have the capacity to win a race of this nature
    Summary: In the frame in her last 2 monte starts, and terrifically-engaged at the limit of earnings, JACANA DE BLARY (9) more than held her own in good company recently and a similar performance would see her win this. Lou-Ann Lecoq will still want to be wary of the complicated and padded, but in-form, KORA GEMA (5) whose return to a hard surface has been much-anticipated. JINGLE FAN (4) has been flying in both codes this summer and even though fitted with front pads this time still looks competitively well in. JEWELKIM (7) pleasantly surprised on his recent monte bow and, shod as he was that day, is not to be underestimated.

    Summary: Back to a more reasonable level after failing to deliver in Paris, KATNISS MORMOULIN (14) is plainly in excellent shape and, given the engagement, can make her Laval debut a victorious one. Shod to preference this time, and reunited with Gabriele Gelormini, KORRIGAN SIBEY (5) appears the main threat, although with application KEOPS DE JUMILLY (10) will be no pushover. JERICHO D’EM (10) and Eric Raffin won smartly that day though and look dangerous once more. Shod as he was when 4th on that occasion, JOUR ET NUIT (2) should again figure prominently, but may first have to defer to JOLYA DE POMMERAYE (5) who has done nothing but improve recently.

    Summary: TALAKAN (1) has performed well on both starts, a good third on his seasonal return in mid-January over 1900m was full of encouragement. He has been absent since, but his astute trainer will have him ready to go. CAZADERO (2) has lots of experience and ran well to be third at Compiegne at the end of July when last racing. He can be on the premises. LAWFUL LADY (6) has been placed twice from only three starts and should not be discounted. RAM SEA (5) is also worth considering.

    Summary: KOURKOVA (4) can get off the mark after showing promise in her three runs over hurdles. She was a decent third at Dieppe three weeks ago and is preferred ahead of HOLALA HAS (9), who scored at Rochefort-Sur-Loire in a Class 4 hurdle on debut on August 4th. She can improve and looks like the main rival. MARIANO BELLO (2) was second behind the latter and has ground to make up. On better terms, he can be competitive. MARIANO BELLO (2) heads the rest.

    Summary: L’AS (5) has a taking profile. His dam won twice in cross-country chases. He will be well-tuned for this debut run. His half-brother, Fuji Flight, won over hurdles, and he is the tentative choice ahead of LIEGE ARDENT (1), who was second at Les Sables on his last start and can be a threat. LAUREAT D ‘ ATHOU (2) ran well at Pau when fourth back in February, and if fit from a break, he should not be ignored. LIEN DU CHOEUR (4) is a flat winner, and if he has been well schooled, he can feature.

She warrants respect if back to her best form. JOIKA D’HERODIERE (3) makes up the shortlist.
