PERSUASION – 4.08 Thirsk (NAP)
PERSUASION isn’t an easy horse to predict but he likes Thirsk and he might be a big price in the Constant Security Services Handicap over seven furlongs on Friday. The eight-year-old won over the course and distance off a mark of 84 last year and he was a close-up third off higher marks after that, too, while he’s dropped back down to a mark just 1lb higher than his last winning rating. He’s drawn well in stall six here with a few of the fancied horses berthed out wide and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him bounce back with a good run.
FOUR ADAAY – 1.25 Ffos Las
The drop to five furlongs looked a good call for FOUR ADAAY at Windsor last time and she could finally win again in the opening 5f handicap at Ffos Las. The seven-year-old is on a losing run of 17 but she looks well-handicapped off 59 and she might’ve won last time but for blowing the start. If she’s away better in this company under Lewis Edmunds she can win again for Rod Millman.
ISLAND HERO – 3.50 Sandown
ISLAND HERO looks very interesting on handicap debut in the HWFA Williams – Founder Of Sandown Park Handicap over a mile. The son of Sottsass was too keen at Southwell when last seen but he’s been gelded and has had six months off since then while he showed promise on his previous two runs at Wolverhampton, including when second to the now 98-rated Treasure Fleet. Of Heather Main’s six Sandown winners four of them were in August handicaps and with Colin Keane booked for the ride he could well take advantage of an opening mark of 75.
ALAZWAR – 5.13 Salisbury
ALAZWAR could be the one in the opening amateur jockeys’ handicap over a mile at Salisbury. Archie Watson drops the seven-year-old in trip and puts the cheekpieces back on in a race where Brodie Hampson’s allegiance with the horse could count for plenty. He’s well capable in this type of race off such a mark as he showed under Hampson at Newbury in June where he won off a 1lb higher rating.
BRIMFULOFATTITUDE – 7.00 Newcastle
Richard Fahey is well used to striking in Newcastle nurseries at this time of year and his BRIMFULOFATTITUDE is improving nicely heading into her handicap debut. The daughter of Soldier’s Call showed a good attitude to get the better of Territorial Star last time under 7lb claimer Ethan Tindall who takes the ride once again.
MARY – 7.18 Fontwell
It could be worth taking a chance on Ian Williams’ MARY in the closing BetGoodwin Super Tommy Cannon Handicap Chase over 2m2f at Fontwell. She needs to cut out the sort of mistake that quickly put her on the back foot at Stratford two starts ago, but she showed promise after that and she’s handicapped to go well on her best hurdles form while being bred for a fence.
