R1 AUTEUIL [L-H]

C1 – PRIX SAPIN – 3500m (a2m1/4) – TURF – Class 2 – Steeple Chase – EUR € 55,000

  1. CI PPO RA – Two unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 3600m in a Listed hurdle at Auteuil in May, and a win over fences in April at Compiegne in a Class 2 race. Hard to ignore
  2. MISS MAELYS – 5th last time out in a Class 3 chase on September 10th, a win previously over 3450m on March 4th in a Class 2 chase at Compiegne. In the mix
  3. LE NEZ CREUX – Good win over 3450m in Class 3 chase at Compiegne on September 10th by 2.5L. Leading player on her second run over fences
  4. NIRVALLA – Fair 3rd on her chase debut over 400m at Auteuil in a Class 3 event on May 3rd. She should improve from that run and warrants respect
  5. ORNITHINE – 3rd on the last start over 3500m at Dieppe on May 1st in a Class 4 chase. This could be a step too far
  6. LA VIE DE CHATEAU – 5th on the last two runs, the latter over 3500m at this track in a Class 2 handicap chase on May 17th. Yet to win and faces a stiff task
    Summary: Plenty with no valid experience over fences in this lineup. The recent winner, LE NEZ CREUX (3), made a strong impression when winning on her chasing debut at Compiègne 17 days ago in a Class 3 event and looks the one to beat. CI PPO RA (1) hasn’t been at her best in recent outings, but can pose a challenge if back to form. NIRVALLA (4) showed plenty of promise when finishing third in a Class 3 chase in early May and is open to further progress—she could play a role at the finish.

  9. APOLLON DU LUY – 4th on his last start over 4400m in the Prix Ferdinand (Grade 1) Chase at this track on May 18th. Back over hurdles and has work to do
  10. SEMPER FORTIS – Two decent efforts of late, a win on the latter over 3600m in a handicap hurdle at Auteuil on September 13th. Up in class, and others make more appeal
  11. MISS WOOD – Two wins of late, the latter over 3600m in a Grade 3 hurdle at Auteuil on May 27th. One to keep onside
  12. ROOSTER CROWING – Two wins on his last two starts, the latter over 36000m in a handicap hurdle at Clairefontaine on August 27th. Can make his presence felt
  13. LE KARMA – 9th on his last run, 3rd previously over 3900m at Auteuil in a Listed hurdle on April 26th. This will be challenging
  14. WEBCAM – 7th last time out over 3900m in the Prix Alain Du Breil Hurdle (Grade 1 ) at this track over 3900m on May 18th. Others rate higher
    Summary: SAIN D’ESPRIT (1) looks as though he is improving with race experience. He scored by 6L on his last appearance over the course and distance in early March in the Prix D’Indy (Grade 3) Hurdle. He runs well fresh and is preferred ahead of DJIN’S (2), who scored in the Prix Questarabad Hurdle (Grade 3) on May 31st last time out. ROOSTER CROWING (6) has been in top form with two three wins in a row, the last two over hurdles. He warrants respect, as does MISS WOOD (5), who can have a say.

  21. ROCK AND ROLL – Pleasing 3rd at Auteuil on September 9th in a Listed hurdle over 3600m on his last run. Hard to overlook and warrants respect
  22. REVE DE PRINCE – Unplaced last time, 4th before that on March 30th in a Listed hurdle over 3900m. Track winner on March 8th over this trip. Can make the top four
  23. NARUTO – 5th on the last run over 3600m in a Listed hurdle on September 9th at Auteuil, and a win before that in a Listed hurdle in August at Clairefontaine. Outside place chance
  24. NEVER RISK – 9th on his last start over track/trip on September 9th in a Listed hurdle. He needs to show more consistency
  25. HERALISTE – Ran well to be 2nd at this track over 3600m in a Listed hurdle on May 31st on his last run. Can make the frame
  26. POLYRISK – 6th last time over 3600m at this track in a Listed hurdle on September 9th, and a 4th over the same track/trip on May 31st before that. In the mix
  27. IGLOO IGLOO – 4th on his last run over track/trip in a Listed hurdle on May 18th. He won three hurdle races at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in December last year and January 2025. This is more of a test
  28. SAINT BATH – Ran well on the flat to be 3rd over 3400m at Moulins on August 25th on his last run. Won twice at this track in November and October last year over hurdles. He will be fit after that recent run and can be involved
  29. JACKSON VILLE – Two wins of late, the latter over 3600m in a handicap hurdle at this track on September 9th. The hat trick of wins will be difficult
  30. IYENGAR DE PAIL – Three unplaced runs so far this year, 9th at Auteuil in a handicap hurdle on September 9th, on his last run over 3600m. Look for an alternative
    Summary: LOU FAST (5) could be the best option in this competitive handicap hurdle race. His fourth over 3600m in a Listed hurdle on September 9th was full of encouragement. He is preferred ahead of ROCK AND ROLL (7), who was one place ahead in the same race in third when they met on September 9th. With less than a length between them last time, it could be a tight finish. NEW PRESIDENT (2) can be involved, back in calmer waters after contesting a Grade 3 hurdle late in April. He won before that at this track in March over track and trip. GRAND ART (3) came back to form at Dieppe when second in early August and can make the top four, as can FICTION DU BERLAIS (6), who makes up the shortlist.

  32. KAADAM – Fair effort when 2nd over 4400m on March 8th in a Grade 3 chase over track and trip last time out. Won the Prix Maurice Gillois- Grand Steeple Chase (Grade 1) in November 2024. Player on return from a break
  33. JARDIN D’ARTHEL – Two good runs this year, a win on the most recent over track and trip in a Listed chase on May 17th. He might not trouble the main protagonists
  34. BREXIT – Credible 3rd last time out over 3900m in a Class 1 hurdle at Auteuil on September 9th. Track and trip win on May 17th in a Listed chase previously. Consider for a place
  35. JAPON – 6th on his last run over 4400m at this track in the Prix Des Drags Chase (Grade 2) on May 31st. Needs a few to falter
  36. BON GARCON – Nice win over track and trip in the Prix Des Drags Chase (Grade 2 ) on May 31st over course and distance on his last start by 2.5L. Hard to overlook
  37. KIF KIF BOURRICOT – Fair 4th over track/trip in the Grand Steeple-Chase Masters-Prix Murat on March 30th on his last run. A win over track/trip in a Grade 3 chase before that on March 8th. Ought to be in the shake-up
  38. SEL JEM – 6th in the Le Defi Des Haras- Grand Steeple Chase (Grade 1) last time out over 6000m at Auteuil on May 18th, and a win over track/trip in a Class 2 chase on April 26th previously. Won a Grade 1 chase in 2022. He likes this venue and can play a lead role
    Summary: KAADAM (2) might be the answer in the competitive Grade 3 event. He was second on his last start in the Prix Toytown Chase (Grade 3) over track and trip in early March. Given a nice break since he gets the verdict ahead of SEL JEM (8), who looks like a threat. He won a Class 2 event in April and is a former winner of the Grand Steeple-Chase De Paris in 2022. BON GARCON (6) won nicely in the Prix Des Drags (Grade 2) chase in May and warrants respect. TOSCANA DU BERLAIS (1) heads the remainder.

  44. MAESTRO D’AUBRELLE – Fair effort to be 3rd on his debut at La Teste on April 2nd over 3400m in a maiden hurdle. Has an absence to overcome and lacks experience
  45. CUE BALL – Unraced gelding by The Grey Gatsby, the dam never ran. Nice profile and he is one to watch in the betting for any support
  46. LE VIOLONISTE – 7th on the one run over 3000m at this track on March 15th in a hurdle race. Unlikely to trouble some of these
  47. TROUBLEINPARADISE – Looked set to win when falling at Strasbourg over 3300m on his hurdles debut on September 14th in a Class 4 race. Flat winner over 2400m in August on his debut. He can make amends this time
  48. EDAMURA – Three runs so far, 4th on the latter over 3400m in a Class 4 hurdle at Compiegne on September 10th. Capable of making the top four
  49. LADY DU BRIZAIS – Won on the one run over 3500m in a Class 4 hurdle at Le Touquet on September 7th by 11L. She is open to progress and can not be overlooked
  50. DE TOUT COEUR – Unraced filly by Jeu St Eloi, the dam was a prolific winner over jumps, winning 13 times, including Grade 1 and Grade 2, and 3 hurdles. From a leading trainer who will have this filly well prepared. Bold show likely
  51. MASTERSTROKE LADY – She failed to finish on her one run over 3600m at this track in a hurdle race on September 13th. This looks like a step too far
    Summary: TROUBLEINPARADISE (9) won nicely on the flat on his debut in August and looked set to score when falling two from home on his hurdling debut in a Class 4 race at Strasbourg on September 14th. With a clear round of jumping, he is preferred ahead of MASKILINE (3), who has been second on both of his runs, the latest in a Class 2 hurdle at Compiegne 17 days ago. DE TOUT COEUR (12) is well-bred. Her dam won 13 races, and any market support should be noted. KILLING BID (5) is also worth a mention.

He scored over 3800m at Dieppe in May 2023 and should be back to his best form. IBAN ROQUE (5), who was below par in the same race last time out. He is better judged on his previous consistent placed form, which includes a second over track/trip in 2023 in a Listed hurdle. ICEBERG DU LARGE (6) and KING OF SAINTLY (7) can duel for minor honours.

    Summary: Top-class hurdler LOSANGE BLEU (1), who won the Prix Serge Landon Hurdle (Grade 1) in November last year, ran a good race when second in the Grand Course De Haies D’Auteuil Hurdle (Grade 1) on May 17th when last seen. He should have too much in his locker for AJAS (3), who is versatile and was a winner on the flat in Norway when last seen in August. KENTUCKY WOOD (7) is also worth considering, as is GALLIPOLI (5), which makes up the shortlist.

    Summary: IKITO (8) is still searching for his first win but has been consistent, posting several placed efforts over both hurdles and fences in recent starts. He looks ready to break through with a deserved success. AULKO (7) has been in solid form, including a win here over 3600m in a handicap hurdle just 18 days ago, and should be firmly in the mix again. JOY THE COUNTESS (5) ran a respectable fourth in a Class 4 hurdle at Clairefontaine 22 days ago and is not without a chance. STORM DES FLOS (4) heads the rest.

    Summary: CAMBACERES (1) won a very good race last time out and with some confidence restored, he can double up in quick succession. AMERICAN GLORY (7) is better than her under par latest run and with a nice galloping weight, she can have a say in the outcome. KOVROV (2) finds himself 1kg better off at the weights with the top choice on his latest outing and with Mikael Barzalona engaged to ride, that could be enough to see him possibly reverse the form. MORPHEWAN (5) hasn’t been far off them and this drop in company should suit which could see him upset at best.

  86. LATINO DES ISLES – Imposed at the first time of asking under the saddle, securing a 2750m Ecommoy Class E on 31 August. Comes to Enghien with renewed morale and will be expected to figure prominently once more
  87. LEONARDO – Gave a fine account to run 5th of 14 in a 2050m Cabourg harness Class D a month ago. Is new to Enghien but boasts solid left-handed credentials and Enghien should suit him to a tee. Chance
  88. LUTIN DE LA FYE – 5th of 16 in a 2850m Mauquenchy harness Class E on 11 September. Not always the most dependable but returns to racing shod for monte debut which could just make all the difference
  89. LOTUS DES SABLES – 4th of 10 in a 2550m Reims Class F a fortnight ago, on 2nd start back. Will be fully fit by now, benefits from a good entry, has form here, and will garner support
    Summary: As solid as a rock since returning to the monte code, LEADER DU RIB (8) was particularly convincing earlier in the month and the double is not out of the question. Winner on his monte bow late last month, LATINO DES ISLES (11) should again figure prominently, as should LUCKY NUMBER (5) who returns to racing left-handed and will be configured as he was when victorious at Les Sables-d’Olonne during the summer. LEONARDO (12) takes his first competitive steps under the saddle, sports modified shoeing, and must be taken very seriously indeed.

  90. NUSTANG JOLY – 4th of 7 finishers, a place behind NINO VERO (5), in a 2550m Reims Class F mid-month and is not about to trouble the judge
  91. NOOKER BERRY – By no means disgraced when 7th of 12 in a 2200m Vincennes Class C 11 days ago, first time out. Will have come on for the run and could well make first 5 this time
  92. NOVO SUPREME – Pleasant 4th of 6 over the main track prior to being eliminated in a 2200m Vincennes Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Failed to make any impact in 2 Enghien starts and will not be influencing the result
  93. NONONINO – Got off the mark at first time of asking, dominating a 2200m Caen Class F on 4 September. Handed the plum spot in front and Alexandre Abrivard can be confident of making another big splash
  94. NINO VERO – 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2550m Reims Class F mid-month. Has ground to make up but has pulled a good number in front and can confirm
  95. NELOMBO BELLO – Honest colt that ran 3rd of 8 in a 2150m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne a month ago. Is unlikely to lose his maiden tag but can still pick up some prizemoney
  96. NEW HAVEN WOOD – Good 2nd in Cabourg before being eliminated when going well in a 2100m Vincennes Class B on 1 September. Makes the right move to Enghien and with application can contest the finish
  97. NATURALE MAG – Qualified respectably but lost his action on debut in a 2550m Reims Class F mid-month and can be ruled out
  98. NEWTON ELLIS – Lost his action on debut a month back in a 2300m Montier-en-Der Class G. Qualified smartly though and will not be far off the mark if Emmanuel Allard keeps him trotting
  99. NOE DES BAUX – Qualified in 1’18″3 at Caen on 21 August. Takes on some better horses here and is unlikely to shake things up
    Summary: He may not have set off any fireworks in May’s qualification but NONONINO (4) won his debut in style earlier in the month and is ideally-placed to repeat. NEW HAVEN WOOD (7) should not be condemned for faulting across town and over this flatter track can be brought back into the fold. NEWTON ELLIS (9) will have a lot to offer if he replicates his qualification. NINO VERO (5) has been entrusted to Benjamin Rochard for the first time and with stride in check can challenge for a place in the frame.

  101. LYA DU VIVIER – Eliminated in last 2, latterly a 2100m Vincennes harness Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Has no monte references but the engagement of Eric Raffin can make all the difference. Chance
  102. LUCIOLA DE LOU – Last of 10 when prepping for this in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne mid-month. Is not without merit, and has been reconfigured, but is still being aimed too high
  103. LORENCE CLOSJASMIN – 6th of 11 finishers behind LIBERTA DEL PHEDO (12) in a 2200m Vincennes Class E on 2 September. Has otherwise been in fine shape, races barefoot, and will be more suited to the Enghien profile. First 5
  104. LAGUNA SECA – Put in a good effort to run 4th of 15 in a 2100m Vincennes harness Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Is not easy to handle but with application should finish close
  105. LOUMA DE MALOU – Lost her maiden status with conviction in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E on 11 September. Takes on a better bunch this time but is confirmed at Enghien and must be respected
  106. LUGACHA – 6th of 10 finishers in a 2050m Cabourg harness Class D on 22 August and even under the saddle will have her work cut out
  107. LILI – Reassuring 3rd of 5 finishers in a 2950m Toulouse Class E 3 weeks ago but still has more to find
  108. LA FLEUR – Switches code for the first time after running 5th of 13 in a 2300m Marseille-Borely Class E on 28 August. Has evident ability but may just find the competition too tough
  109. LILOU D’ATOUT – Returns to the code after running 7th of 10 in a 2550m Reims harness Class B conditioner 2 weeks ago. Is plainly capable when focused and can finish in the mix provided Pierre-Yves Verva keeps her trotting
  110. LINA LA RAVELLE – Produced career-best monte performance when 3rd of 11 finishers, a place behind LIBERTA DEL PHEDO (12), in a 2200m Vincennes Class E on 2 September. Will not be available at 67/1 this time but will not be as competitive either
  111. LIBERTA DEL PHEDO – 2nd of 11 finishers in a 2200m Class E across town on 2 September. Is plainly close to winning another and looks the pick of the field
  112. LILOU TREMBLADAISE – Starts for first time since running 4th of 9 in a 2950m Le Mans Class D 2 months ago. Has previously won shod here and Adrien Lamy can be quietly confident
    Summary: Very hard to knock since moving to the Mathieu Mottier yard, LIBERTA DEL PHEDO (12) is new to Enghien but given her versatility should have no issues with its profile, and in current form should be able to wrap this up. LAGUNA SECA (5) is as tricky as they come but has talent in spades and Alexandre Abrivard can be confident of a big performance this time. Eliminated more often than not, LYA DU VIVIER (2) has been reconfigured for her monte bow and Eric Raffin has been booked for the ride. LILOU TREMBLADAISE (13) has demonstrated good aptitude and even though shod for re-entry can still get in on the action.
