Fine Form
El Megeeth NO – 1.58
can make a step up in trip pay dividends with victory in the PricedUp Daily Sports Boosts Fillies’ Handicap at Nottingham.
Trained by Owen Burrows for the Shadwell operation, El Megeeth was a 375,000 guineas purchase as a foal, boasting a fine pedigree as a daughter of Ghaiyyath out of the Listed winner Tanoura, who has produced four black-type performers.
The three-year-old did not make her racecourse bow until June when she was easily held in an all-weather maiden but she has since finished second in another maiden and a novice, before connections moved her attention to handicap company at Newbury last month.
Her starting mark of 74 looked competitive and so it proved, beaten two and a half lengths by the more experienced Orionis, who has since gone on to run well in a decent Newmarket heat last week.
El Megeeth has looked a little short of pace at the business end in each of her three placed runs, so edging up to a staying trip from 12 furlongs looks a logical move and any drying of the ground would further enhance her claims.
Karl Burke’s juvenile strike-rate this term has been exceptionally good and
High Storm NO – 2.28
can keep up the good work in the British EBF Future Stayers Oath Novice Stakes.
The Nathaniel colt was a four-length third on debut at Redcar, when he looked as though moving up to this extended mile trip would be to his benefit.
One More KM – 7.40
is the pick in the Ted Palmer Memorial Handicap at Kempton.
Richard Hannon’s runner placed on each of his three juvenile starts and while he did not return to action until August this year, he made an immediate impact when a half-length winner of a novice contest at Kempton.
He was then sent off favourite on his handicap bow and only narrowly failed to justify that confidence as he came home a one-length third off a mark of 84.
The handicapper has eked him up 1lb for that effort and he would not need to improve too much to win this.
At Sedgefield,
Jamada SE – 2.15
can land the opening Nigel Hawke Raceday Experiences Maiden Hurdle on his first start for Olly Murphy, while
Love Sonnet LU – 3.05
can making a winning debut for Tim Vaughan at Ludlow.
She lines up in the Lattitude 52 Lager Fillies’ Juvenile Maiden Hurdle after winning twice on the Flat for John Murphy in Ireland.
