C1 – PRIX ISOPANI – 3600m (a2m1/4) – TURF – Newcomers – Hurdles – EUR € 50,000

  1. MARIUS – Two unplaced runs on the flat, the latter over 2500m on September 28th at Nancy. Tries hurdles for the first time and faces a stiff task
  2. MATADOR ALLEN – Gelding by Gemix, the dam was placed from only two starts. From a shrewd trainer who knows the time of day. Any market support could be an indication of expected performance
  3. MISSISSIPPI RIVER – Two good efforts on the flat, a win on debut in April over 2450m and a 3rd at Vichy on May 25th over 2400m. Bred to do well over jumps, and he warrants respect
  4. MAKAO’K – 6th on the one run over 2300m at Le Mans on the flat on September 12th. Likely to find a few of these too smart for his hurdle race debut
  5. MATTHEW – Unraced gelding by Yeats, the dam was placed in a Grade 3 hurdle—nice profile and from a top yard. Can be expected to play a lead role

  7. MIATCHU – He was 7th on the one run over 2300m at Le Mans on the flat on September 12th. Hurdle race debut, and is best watched for the time being
  8. MON MARCEL – Gelding by Headman, the dam was placed once. Looks good on paper and he is best watched in the betting for any market support
  9. MAK CALAM – Gelding on debut by Pour Moi, the dam was placed on the flat. Looks good on paper, and he is best watched for any market support
  10. MOULINS ROUGE – Gelded son of No Risk At All, the dam was placed over hurdles and fences. Likely to improve for this debut run unless the betting says otherwise
  11. MISTERDOC – Flat winner two runs back over 2400m at Vittel on August 15th. Hurdles debut and is one to keep onside
  12. MR KELL – This gelding boasts a nice pedigree, being by Pour Moi. Although the dam never raced, he is from a respected trainer who will ensure he is well educated. One to consider on debut
  13. MILLEETUNEVICTOIRE – Two unplaced efforts so far on the flat, the latter over 2400m at Moulins on September 17th. Hurdle race debut and others seem more likely
  14. MES CHERS FRERES – He won nicely by 2L on his debut at Saint-Brieuc over 2400m on May 29th. Tries hurdles for the first time, and he will be well schooled. Live chance
  15. MURRAYFIELD PARK – Unraced gelding by Great Pretender, the dam won 2 races on the flat, including a Group 2 AQ race. One to watch in the betting for any market interest
    Summary: MES CHERS FRERES (14) made a good impression when scoring on his debut run at Saint-Brieuc on May 29th in a conditions race. He will be well schooled for this and can remain unbeaten. MATTHEW (5) could be the one who gives the selection the most to think about. He has a nice pedigree and will know what is required. MISSISSIPPI RIVER (3) has performed well on the flat and warrants respect on his hurdling bow. MISTERDOC (11) is a flat winner who should have a say on his hurdling debut.

  31. KOUCA DE THAIX – Recent success over track and trip on October 1st in a Class 3 chase. This is a much stiffer test and others are preferred
    Summary: KENITO (1) has been off the track since a narrow success in a competitive Class 1 chase over course and distance in late February. He runs well fresh and is a marginal choice ahead of the progressive KILT ECOSSAIS (7), who scored by nine lengths in a Class 2 chase over 3500m on September 18th at this track. KIND LOVELY (2) is also worth looking at after a win in a Class 3 chase at Lyon Parilly late last month, beating the smart Gex into second that day. CHANCE DE BALLON (5) heads the rest.

    Summary: ROCK AND ROLL (3) could be the one to beat in this competitive contest. He has been in solid form, finishing third in his last two starts at this track, most recently in a Listed hurdle on September 27th. LOU FAST (2) finished second in that same race and has since followed up with another runner-up effort in a Listed hurdle here just 11 days ago. He looks like a strong challenger. POLYRISK (1) won the September 27th Listed hurdle but meets his rivals on less favourable terms this time, which makes it a stiffer test. JUMPER BAIE (9) is worth another chance and appears better than his last two runs suggest, while UNDENIABLE ALIBI (4) looks best of the remainder.

  53. INCOLLABLE – Fair 2nd on his last start over 3500m in a Class 3 chase at this track on September 13th. Unlikely to trouble some of the main protagonists
  54. SEL JEM – Good effort to be 3rd in a Grade 3 chase over track and trip on September 27th. Former Grade 1 winner (Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris). He can be expected to strip fitter for that run and play a lead role
  55. ALCYONE ROUGE – Not seen since a 3rd in the Prix Georges Courtois Chase (Grade 2) on December 8th over track and trip. Might improve for this outing
    Summary: BON GARCON (6) has solid form over course and distance, a win in May of the Prix Des Drags (Grade 2) chase, and a recent second over the same journey in a Grade 3 chase last month. He can be too smart for some strong rivals. SEL JEM (9) ran well on his return to action when 6L behind the main selection in third last month. He should be fitter today. JUNTOS GANAMOS (2) has plenty of talent and can feature with a good round of jumping. KAADAM (5) is a top-class on his day and should not be ruled out.

The drop back in distance and lack of a recent outing will not stop him from following up. GALLIPOLI (3) could be the main danger, with two wins in September. The latter was a Grade 3 hurdle at this track over 3900m. LOSANGE BLEU (1) was second behind GALLIPOLI (3) late last month and is hard to rule out. ISIS D’INOR (9) is also worth a mention.

She was a pleasing second over the course and distance on September 27th and can confirm placings with STORM DES FLOS (3), who was less than a length behind in third in the same race, with ROYAL MOON (6) a close-up fourth that day, the race could be between the three of them. JAN (4) has been fourth over fences on his last two runs and can be involved on the switch back over hurdles today.

    Summary: DSCHINGIS HEIGHTS (6) showed what he is capable of with a good win at this track earlier this month. He can follow up over this shorter distance. CANDYMAN (5) is in good form and should be involved in the finish once again. DARLING CHALLENGE (7) has been very good at Strasbourg of late but needs to reproduce that form at this track. AGELKA (9) could appreciate this distance and is another to consider.

    Summary: Very effective in this branch of the business, and with 3 runs under her belt, JILANZA DU MOULIN (7) won under these conditions almost exactly 2 years ago and will be favoured to repeat. On paper, DALI’DEL RONCO (5) may not be an obvious choice, but considering what he has produced in the other code, the change of discipline may be just what the doctor ordered. Barefoot for his return to the code, JAFF DE MESLAY (3) debuts for his new trainer with a decent chance of getting straight down to business. JACANA DE BLARY (4) will not be far from the action if Charline Blaizot keeps her focused.

    Summary: Excellent on her re-entry at Laval earlier in the month, LADY ANGELE (16) will have come on for the race and considering the entry can run away with this. Also well-engaged following one comeback run, LILI BROAY (15) is barefoot for her first objective of the autumn and looks the main danger. LELIZIA (8) is not always the most dependable but on a good day she is easy to like, and the new configuration will be expected to pay off. Sporting front pads after putting in a good effort at Laval, LAVEZZI PEJI (6) is one for the shortlist.

  81. MARIA DE VALNY – 7th of 8 finishers behind MILADY MADRIK (7) in a 2875m claimer here 9 days ago. Imposed under these conditions in August and should not be ruled out
  82. MY WAY LEAGABIN – Back in the claiming category after finishing 6th of 8 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Monte Class C on 2 September. Seldom finishes in the money and is not about to start now
  83. MILORD D’IRAI – Made it 3 straight eliminations after quickly losing his action in a 2700m Graignes Class B last Sunday. Has won at this level, and will be reined by Eric Raffin, but others still easier to trust
  84. MILADY MADRIK – Made up for Vincennes effort when 2nd of 8 finishers in a 2875m claimer here 9 days ago. Breaks somewhat wide but in present shape is easy to recommend
  85. MONA GALAA – 13th of 14 behind MAESTRIA GALAA (3) in a 2100m Vincennes claimer late last month, and would be preferred under the saddle
  86. MAZERATI PAJJ – Confirmed Vincennes performance when 3rd of 8, a place behind MILADY MADRIK (7), in a 2875m claimer here on 9 October. Is clearly in her category and should not let the side down
  87. MOTLEY CRUE – Unplaced in last 2 starts, most recently 8th of 11 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D earlier this month, and will have nothing to contribute
  88. MAYA DES BAUX – 5th of 8 finishers in a 2200m Strasbourg Class E on 28 August, and even at this level is unlikely to shake things up
  89. MA REINE – 4th of 14 behind MAESTRIA GALAA (3) in a 2100m Vincennes claimer late last month. Will have come on for the run and can go closer this time if Pierre-Yves Verva positions her early
  90. MASSILIO BLOND – Last of 8 behind MILADY MADRIK (7) in a 2875m claimer here on 9 October, and already looks out of his depth
    Summary: MAESTRIA GALAA (3) looked a different horse when 2nd in a Vincennes claimer late last month and from the 3-spot seems thoroughly capable of imposing this time. MAZERATI PAJJ (9) has not been so fortunately-drawn but has demonstrated decent aptitude at this level and can apply the pressure. That said, MILADY MADRIK (7) had her measure here recently and will not be easily disposed of. MA REINE (12) has pulled a tough number but held her own last time and can challenge for a place in the frame.

  92. NINO VERO – 4th of 10 in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Is learning his trade well and can trot his way into the money
  93. NICKY DU VERGER – Respectable 5th of 11 in a 2200m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Will not be sent out at 77-1 this time but is unlikely to be as competitive either
  94. NEMO DU VARLET – Opened his account in a 2100m Lyon-Parilly Class E a fortnight ago. Takes on a better lot here but is well-placed behind the car and should not be overlooked
  95. NON STOP MESLOIS – 2nd of 8 in a 2050m Cabourg Class D early this month. Is new to racing left-handed but is well-placed in front and will not be far off the mark if he turns
  96. NICE TO SEE YOU – 4th on debut at Evreux 3 weeks ago then won a 2050m Cordemais Class F a week later. Is the choice of Eric Raffin here and will be expected to repeat
  97. NIKKEI PONT ROYAL – Debuted 3rd at La Capelle before winning over 1750m in Mons on 20 September. A repeat, however, seems most improbable
  98. NAPOLEON AS – Qualified in 1’15”8 last month before running 3rd of 11 in a 2100m Cholet Class D 3 weeks ago. Has considerably more to give and can play a leading role
  99. NAMOUR DAB – Solid 2nd of 13 in a 2050m Laval Class F on 25 September, first time out. Put in a fine finish that day and it will not be long before he gets off the mark
  100. NECTAR DE CHANLECY – 6th of 7 finishers, on debut a month back, in a 2200m Vichy Class E on 20 September, and will need to find considerably more
    Summary: These juvenile races are never as easy to decipher as one might like but it is still difficult to ignore recent Cordemais winner, NICE TO SEE YOU (6), who will be reined by Eric Raffin for the first time. He will still want to be wary of NAMOUR DAB (9) who left a very good impression at Laval on his career bow, and NAPOLEON AS (8) who was simply dynamic in qualification. Courageous at Cabourg earlier in the month, NON STOP MESLOIS (5) is not to be underestimated.
