  8. NIKITA DES CHARMES – Good 2nd of 12 in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys in mid-September. Has progressed nicely of late and it will not be long before she loses her maiden tag
  9. NATIVE DE PLAY – Made up for Cabourg blip when 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2300m Bernay Class E in late-August. Takes on a better bunch, but is confirmed clockwise, and can pick up a cheque
  10. NESPERA – Confirmed good 1’18″1 qualification when winning a 2400m Neuillé-Pont-Pierre Class E on 3 August. Arrives fresh to Caen and has every chance of repeating
  11. NINON DREAM – Honourable 4th of 13 in a 2150m Enghien Class C 10 days ago. Has a lot of progress in her and can bring the fight to NESPERA (10)
Summary: Fastest qualifier in the field, NESPERA (10) did everything asked of her on debut in early-August. She hasn’t been rushed back to competition and can double up if she turns. Théo Duvaldestin will still be keeping a keen eye on the nicely-engaged NINON DREAM (11) who showed marked improvement in Paris recently, and NIKITA DES CHARMES (8) whose performance at Les Andelys did not go unnoticed. Alexandre Buisson sends out a pair here and the untried NIKITA DES ILES (2) is just preferred.

  12. NAUTILIO BELLO – Qualified in 1’20″8 at Laval in early-July. Hails from a very good home but is unlikely to be pushed first time out
  13. NOLIO DU BARBEY – Qualified in 1’16”7 here on 1 October. Has a lot going for him here and debut success would be no surprise
  14. NATOS – 4th of 6 finishers, a place behind NINJA DE L’ENVOL (5), in a 2200m Class F here in early-September and appears to have little to contribute
  15. NEO CLASSIQUE – Unthreatening 6th of 11 behind NEMO DES CARREAUX (7) in a 2100m Cholet Class D late last month, and is not about to rock the boat
  16. NINJA DE L’ENVOL – Ran 3rd here in early-September but eliminated a month later in a 2500m Bihorel-lès-Rouen Class E. Is not devoid of ability and with application can play an active role
  17. NICKNAME – Eliminated in a 2150m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne 3 weeks ago. Has evident talent and the change of direction may just be what’s required. Chance
  18. NEMO DES CARREAUX – Showed marked improvement when 2nd of 11 in a 2100m Cholet Class D late last month. Is unlikely to create an upset but can still make first 5
  19. NEW WORLD – Out of the picture in last 2, latterly 8th of 9 in a 2150m Enghien Class C on 6 October, and will struggle to make any impact
  20. NATIONAL HERO – Qualified respectably but showed a different side when victorious in a 2100m Evreux Class G in late-September and will be expected to apply the pressure on NOLIO DU BARBEY (2)
  21. NAZARINO – Started to make good on his promise in late-August when 3rd of 8 in a 2175m Vincennes Class C. Franck Nivard stays faithful and will not be far from the action if he keeps his colt focused
  22. NOVECENTO – 5th of 7 finishers in a 2400m Montauban Class D last weekend. Is unlikely to get off the mark but still looks competitive for a place in the frame
  23. NEAL DE TROUVILLE – Drops in category after running 5th of 7 in a 2200m Vincennes Class A on 23 September. Is not out of the picture but is not a priority either
Summary: The untried NOLIO DU BARBEY (2) left quite the impression in qualification here earlier in the month; Alexandre Buisson’s horses have been in rude health and his partnership with Yoann Lebourgeois frequently pays dividends. NATIONAL HERO (9) got straight off the mark 3 weeks ago and will have progressed. NICKNAME (6) goes clockwise for the first time and Mathieu Mottier will be determined to set the record straight. Better than his Montauban result would suggest, NOVECENTO (11) looks the sort that can do well at a track like Caen.

  24. LAMARCK – Modest type making ridden debut after coming 7th of 9 in a 2800m Vire harness Class F last Monday and has no possible chance
  25. LILIONALLY – 2nd of 9 finishers in a 2400m Amiens harness Class F a fortnight ago. Has little love for the monte code though and can be passed over
  26. LOVELY ONE – Enjoying something of a renaissance since changing codes, comfortably winning a Class F over course and distance a month ago. Mathieu Mottier aboard this time and looks a serious player once more
  27. LOU DE LANGE – Starts for the first time since finishing 6th of 7 in a 2200m Vincennes Class D last April and will need the run
  28. LOOPING DU PERRE – 3rd of 11 to LATINO DES ISLES (7) in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E in late-August. Ran 2nd here last March and while unlikely to get off the mark, can nevertheless finish in the mix
  29. LOUDGI D’AZE – Has looked a different horse since switching disciplines, latterly dominating a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 2 October, and in similar form can double his money
  30. LATINO DES ISLES – Imposed on late-August monte debut but failed to confirm when last but one in a 2875m Enghien Class D late last month. Shoes back on and others easier to back
  31. L’AIGLE PASS – 6th of 16 in a 2850m Laval Class E on 4 October. Goes barefoot this time and, in this category, will not be far from the action
  32. LYRIC – Returns to racing right-handed after being eliminated early in a 2850m Laval Class E a fortnight ago, and barefoot this time will be no easy touch
  33. LUPIN DES TOURS – Eliminated under the saddle at Saint-Malo prior to running 2nd of 8 in a 2950m Vichy harness Class D in late-August. Is by no means a priority but still deserves a second chance
  34. LITTLEKING FOXGLEN – 5th of 10 finishers in a 2875m Enghien harness claimer 2 weeks ago. Has yet to show much aptitude for the game but with Victor Saussaye aboard will be afforded every chance
  35. LILOU TREMBLADAISE – 5th of 7 finishers on re-entry in a 2875m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago. Sports modified shoeing, benefits from a good entry, and is unlikely to let the side down
  36. LYNX ATOUT – Goes clockwise for just the 2nd time, having been eliminated in a 2700m Vincennes Class D in mid-September. Barefoot for the occasion and on good behaviour can get a look in
Summary: It took some time and a change of code but LOUDGI D’AZE (6) got off the mark in good order 2.5 weeks ago and Alexandre Angot can be confident of picking up another victory. He will still be mindful of the reinvigorated LOVELY ONE (3) who is out for a Caen double, and the first-time-barefoot LYRIC (9) who has already imposed under these conditions. LOOPING DU PERRE (5) is still chasing that elusive first win but he always gives his best and will be shod as he was here earlier in the year.

  37. MELODIE D’AMOUR – Useful filly but has not been seen out since running 3rd of 12 in a 2950m Vichy Class D last May and is going to need the race
  38. MIDDLE EARTH – Imposed at Carentan before running 3rd of 16 in a 2150m Enghien Class D earlier in the month. Goes right-handed for first time and should not be far off the mark if she turns
  39. MANUELLA DE PLAY – Imposed at Clairefontaine before running 2nd of 11 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D on 19 August. Has freshness on her side and can wrap this up
  40. MAGDA DE VANDEL – Has turned a corner since returning from her break, latterly 2nd of 12 in a 2850m Lyon-Parilly Class D a month ago. In good company here but with Mathieu Mottier reining should not be overlooked
  41. MAYA D’AUBRIERE – Makes first appearance since coming 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2150m Enghien Class D mid-August. Is not about to win this but still has the wherewithal to make the frame
  42. MOON LIGHT RIVER – Got off the mark, at 13th time of asking, in a 2450m Class E here on 17 September. Breaks in front but a repeat seems most improbable
  43. MIRA DE BAFFAIS – Placed in 2 of last 3, most recently 2nd of 14 in a 2725m Cabourg Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Takes on a better lot this time but starts in front and will be afforded every chance
  44. MILADY DREAM – Comfortable winner of a 2050m Cabourg Class E on 26 August. Unseen since and, if still on the boil, can contest the finish
  45. MIYA DE JOUDES – Quality filly that was eliminated in a 2750m Craon Class B conditioner 3 weeks ago. Has had time to come on and will be expected to return to competitive ways
  46. MELIA BARBES – Got off the mark at Durtal before confirming in a 2850m Laval Class E in late-June. Has not been seen since and will not be given a hard race
  47. MISS LADY DU DAN – Out of the picture in both clockwise starts, most recently 9th of 11 in a 2450m Class E here a month ago, and will not be influencing the result
  48. METSUYANE ERA – By no means disgraced when 6th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D late last month. Arguably better racing clockwise and is unlikely to disappoint as long as Francois Lagadeuc keeps her trotting
  49. MOLLY WHITE – Starts for the first time since running 5th of 9 behind MANUELLA DE PLAY (3) in a 2750m Cabourg Class D on 19 August and will not be making any waves
Summary: A progressive filly with a bright future, MANUELLA DE PLAY (3) defied her odds at Cabourg 2 months ago and after having been given the opportunity to freshen up, she makes her Caen debut with every chance of making it a successful one. MILADY DREAM (8) has also been showing significant form and despite being less favourably-drawn, she still looks dangerous. Eliminated on re-entry she may have been but MIYA DE JOUDES (9) returns to a hard surface and despite the draw will be no pushover. MAYA D’AUBRIERE (5) returns fresh from a spell, goes as well right-handed as left-, and must be considered a player.

  50. LILIE D’OMAHA – Last but one, on re-entry, in a 2800m Cordemais Class B 2 weeks ago. Is here for reasons of conditioning and will have nothing to contribute
  51. LUCIFER DU PONT – Eliminated, on return to competition, in a 2725m Lisieux Class B 3.5 weeks ago. Is still in conditioning-mode and can be passed over
  52. LOVE DANCER – Unable to confirm Vichy victory when 4th of 18, a place behind LISA MONA BLUE (7), in a 2775m Craon Class D 3 weeks ago. Guillaume Martin in the bike this time and will have his supporters
  53. LARA DE CHENU – 9th of 18 behind LISA MONA BLUE (7) in a 2775m Craon Class D late last month and is going to need another run
  54. LOVELY JENILOU – Serious mare but eliminated in last 2, most recently a 2700m Vincennes Class C early this month. Is no slouch racing right-handed but others still easier to back
  55. LANSKY VALLEE – Reassuring 3rd of 8 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Is confirmed racing clockwise and is easy to like for a place in the picture
  56. LISA MONA BLUE – Confirmed her clockwise capacity when 3rd of 18 in a 2775m Craon Class D 3 weeks ago. Has form in the day’s configuration and should prove worth retaining
  57. LA DAME DE COEUR – 3rd of 16 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C early this month. Seldom gets her nose in front but is plainly in form and even against the boys can make first 5
  58. LALUNA DES FORGES – Unseen since coming 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class C 3 months ago. Shoes back on and best to keep one’s powder dry
  59. LEMONADE FIZZ – Starts for first time since winning a 2875m Enghien Class D in July and is not about to trouble the opposition
  60. LADY DU CHATELET – Made amends for a pair of eliminations when dominating a 2725m Lisieux Class B 3.5 weeks ago and can play a leading role
  61. LE MAC – Courageous 3rd of 12 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C 3 weeks ago. Is new to the venue but should take well to the fresh conditions and can open his 2025 account
  62. LE JIBAY – 6th of 11 in a 2175m Vincennes monte Class C on 7 October and returns to the harness code with little to contribute
  63. LA VIE EST BELLE – Eliminated early in a 2725m Lisieux Class B on 24 September. Nicely-entered here, races barefoot, and with application will not be far off the mark
  64. LOVING DREAM – Ran 2nd at Enghien on re-entry before smartly winning a 2150m Class D at the same venue 2 weeks ago. Enjoys a terrific entry and must be taken seriously
  65. L’AMOUR SUPREME – Gave a good account on comeback when 4th of 11 finishers in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B 2 weeks ago. Ideally-engaged here but chances still limited
Summary: Hard to fault over recent weeks, and very much at home racing right-handed, LE MAC (12) deserves to see his efforts rewarded one of these days. Unbeaten in 2 Caen starts, and reassuring winner at Lisieux last time out, LADY DU CHATELET (11) will be no pushover if she stays in stride. Superb in both starts since the summer spell, LOVING DREAM (15) has yet to impose racing clockwise but it is only a matter of time. LANSKY VALLEE (6) reverts to a previous formula after giving a good account at Vincennes and warrants considerable respect.

  66. KOMEO DU DOME – Debuts at the venue after winning 3 straight, latterly a 2900m Challans Class E a week ago. Forced to start on the inside but still looks a leading contender
  67. KOSY D’ERONVILLE – 4th of 11 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Is proven racing right-handed and even against the boys will have a part to play
  68. KARLA DE BANVILLE – 8th of 12 when being conditioned in a 2725m Pornichet Class D a month ago. Stays shod however and best to hold off
  69. KINDY DU VIVIER – Quality mare making first appearance since finishing last of 10 in a 2150m Enghien Class D in late-July. Here for reasons of conditioning and can be ruled out
  70. KARVINA D’ELA – Hardy mare making first start since running 5th of 15 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C last June and would be preferred barefoot
  71. KRACKER PIYA – Useful type starting for first time since coming 3rd of 12 in a 2875m Enghien Class D in early-July and with shoes fitted will have little to offer
  72. KETTY ANGOT – 6th of 16 in a 2900m Challans Class D last weekend. Front shoes off but still not a priority
  73. KRACK DESBOIS – Has enjoyed a decent run of form lately, most recently winning a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class E with ease 9 days ago. Not ideally-drawn but still looks the horse to beat
  74. LAGUNE PIYA – Makes first appearance since finishing 8th of 11 in a 2150m Argentan Class D in early-August. Paul Ploquin engaged for the occasion and despite the wide draw can get a look in
  75. KEA DES RACQUES – Has not been seen out since being eliminated in a 2150m Enghien Class D in early-August and can expect to have few friends
  76. LOVEBIRD – Quality colt that lost his action in a 2100m Vincennes Class D late last month. Is plainly in shape though and can get in on the action if he takes to the Caen profile
  77. KAHIRA DES MARES – Made up for August elimination when 3rd of 11 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D a month back. Barefoot this time though and others preferred
  78. KELLOU DES BRUMES – Decent 6th of 12 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Has won 4 of 8 this year, excels with his driver, and must not be underestimated
  79. KOZIELLO DE LOU – Unseen since being eliminated in a 2100m Vincennes Class C last February. Shoes on and will have nothing to give
  80. KENNEDY FRANCE – Unraced since being eliminated in a Class C over course and distance in May and is going to need the outing
  81. KASH DES RIOULTS – 10th of 12 behind KELLOU DES BRUMES (13) in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Is shod as he was when 2nd at Le Mont-Saint-Michel though and is not incapable of springing a small surprise
  82. KEOPS BEGONIA – Eliminated in a 2875m Enghien Class B late last month. Won here during the spring and will be barefoot this time, but still has more to find
  83. KANKAN – Placed twice before coming 7th of 12 finishers, a place behind KELLOU DES BRUMES (13), in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Has solid clockwise credentials and must be considered a player
Summary: KRACK DESBOIS (8) made up for his Vibraye blip when victorious at Meslay-du-Maine recently and even though starting wide, he will be reined by Mathieu Mottier and can confirm. KOMEO DU DOME (1) though has been a revelation since startiong to race barefoot and makes his Caen debut with a good hand to play. KANKAN (18) most certainly didn’t win the draw-lottery but he has placed in 2 of his last 3 and must be taken seriously. KELLOU DES BRUMES (13) will appreciate returning to racing right-handed and has won 3 of 6 with Yoann Lebourgeois.

  84. JABLO DU CHENE – Won 2 of 3 before losing his action in a Class D over course and distance last weekend, but can play a part if Alexandre Angot assures his initial strides
  85. IT’S MY DREAM – 7th of 13 in a 2700m harness Class C at Le Croise-Laroche on 1 October. Appreciates Caen but in this company will struggle to make his presence felt
  86. IMPERIAL COGLAIS – Serious sort that got straight down to business on comeback, winning a 2625m Agen Class D in mid-September. Will have come on for the run and although unlikely to repeat, can still make first 5
  87. FALTO DES LANDIERS – Inherited success in a 2875m Enghien Class C a fortnight ago. Is not without merit but will have his work cut out this time
  88. IMAGINE D’ATOUT – Hardy element making first start since running 3rd of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class C in mid-June. Shoes on for re-entry though and best to wait
  89. INDIGO DU PORET – Eliminated in a 2725m Lisieux harness Gr.3 conditioner 3.5 weeks ago. Faces first objective of the season and even if only at 80% can win this
  90. FALCON D’ESPACE – 3rd of 14 in a 2875m Enghien harness claimer last Monday and returns to the monte discipline with a lot to find
  91. JUST FOR BACK – In the frame in last 4, most recently 3rd of 9 in a 2175m Vincenens Class B on 30 September. Shoes off this time and looks primed for another podium finish
  92. HASARD D’ERABLE – Made it 2 straight eliminations when on course for a place in a 2700m Vincennes Class B early this month. François Lagadeuc reining this time and can play a prominent role if he keeps his charge focused
  93. HANNAH – Takes a dip in class after running 7th of 9 in a 2850m Vincennes Gr.3 a month back. Cannot be considered a priority but is still worth keeping an eye on
  94. ILTON ROYAL – Lost his action in a 3500m Craon harness Class B 3 weeks ago. Returns to his code of preference and is eminently capable of imposing
Summary: Back under the saddle following a pair of harness fresheners, ILTON ROYAL (11) benefits from a golden entry, seldom lets the side down in this branch of the business and is easy to fancy for the win. A high-class type at 3 and 4, INDIGO DU PORET (6) makes his first ridden start since December 2022, sports a fresh configuration, and given the form of Mathieu Mottier’s yard, he must be considered a serious proposition. JUST FOR BACK (8) put in a good showing in Paris recently and with shoes off this time will be no soft touch. The talented HASARD D’ERABLE (9) has been somewhat spirited lately but has been reconfigured and on good behaviour will not be far from the action.

  97. IMPERATOR D’ELA – Eliminated in a 2775m Craon Gr.3 early last month. Disappointing on the whole for some time and can be passed over
  98. JOCONDE SIBEY – Makes first appearance since finishing 8th of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Gr.3 last June. Shoes on though and best to hold off
  99. JASON – Has not been seen out since running 5th of 16 in a 2675m Class D at Le Mont-Saint-Michel in mid-July. Has raced and placed in superior company and even with shoes on can play a role
  100. HAWAI PONT VAUTIER – Eliminated in a 2750m Class D at La Capelle on 22 September when en route to victory. Has already won here and if there is a horse in this field that can beat IGUANE DE CAPONET (8), this is it
  101. HARDI CROWN – Should not be too hastily-judged for losing his action in a 2950m Saint-Malo Gr.3 in early-August. Has been afforded ample time to recalibrate and Paul Ploquin will be eager to put things right
  102. IGUANE DE CAPONET – Simply dynamic for some time, latterly winning a 2650m Alencon Class D a fortnight ago. Has finished runner-up in both previous Caen starts and enjoys an excellent opportunity to get his nose in front this time
  103. JANE AIMEE – 2nd at Divonne-les-Bains before winning a 2850m Feurs Class B early last month. Has yet to deliver at Caen but is shod to preference and hard to ignore
  104. JOURNEE REVEE – 6th of 11 behind JET EXPRESS (12) in a 2850m Laval Class D on 25 September. Has ample ability but latest results do little to inspire confidence
  105. IDOLA – Serious mare but has not raced since running 2nd of 11 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D last January and will not be over-extended
  106. JET EXPRESS – In the frame in last 3, latterly 2nd of 11 in a 2850m Laval Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Not ideally-drawn but in present shape is easy to recommend for a place on the podium
  107. JOLIE STAR – Makes first start since being eliminated in a 2500m Class C at La Rochelle in late-July. Shoes fitted and not a concern
Summary: Ideally-engaged at the earnings threshold, and quite clearly at the top of his game, IGUANE DE CAPONET (8) will be shod to preference this time and can finally break his Caen duck. Frequently a bit of a handful, HAWAI PONT VAUTIER (6) has nevertheless quite a liking for the venue and considering the entry should be taken very seriously. HARDI CROWN (7) is back at a more reasonable level and will be expected to figure prominently. Unbeaten at Caen and patently close to his race, JET EXPRESS (12) has pulled a tough number but Philippe Daugeard’s yard is currently firing on all cylinders and is unlikely to disappoint.
