Giga Kick confirmed for Winterbottom Stakes

Giga Kick is set to head west, with trainer Clayton Douglas confirming the superstar sprinter will target the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on November 29, before a possible tilt at the $1.5 million Gold Rush (1400m) on December 13.
The announcement follows Giga Kick’s thrilling victory in the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Flemington last Saturday, where he once again showcased the explosive finish that has made him one of Australia’s premier sprinters.
“He has pulled up as well as you could ask for,” Douglas told Racing.com on Monday.
The winner of the 2022 The Everest has now amassed an extraordinary $14,884,345 in prizemoney from just 19 career starts.
Following the news, Giga Kick immediately surged to the top of betting markets for the Winterbottom Stakes, where Sportsbet has listed him at $3 to take out the Group 1 feature in Perth.
Defending champion Overpass and The Quokka winner Jokers Grin also feature prominently in early markets, while Rey Magnerio — an unlucky third on Oaks Day — is likewise set to make the trip west.
