R1 PAU [R-H]

C1 – PRIX DE BALEIX – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 19,200

  1. KOMET CHOP – An excellent 3rd in an event for unraced horses over 1600m at La Teste on 3 August. He finished behind two useful colts and despite the layoff, looks the runner to beat
  2. SPIRIT BOY – A moderate 7th in a Maiden over 1400m at this course on 26 December. Did not show on debut and will need to make massive improvement to feature
  3. COUNSELOR – Disappointing 7th in an event for unraced horses over this course and distance on 28 November. He is better than that run and should improve with the experience under his belt
  4. NENA – Finished 8th in a Maiden over 1200m at Mont-De-Marsan on 16 July. Only beat one runner home in that debut effort and now comes back from a break trying further
  5. DAMABIAH ANGEL – An excellent comeback when 3rd in a Maiden over 2000m at this track on 26 December. That was her first run after a near 5-month break and she should be even better over this distance
  6. AMUSANTE – A promising 6th in a Maiden over 1600m at Bordeaux Le Bouscat on 4 November. That was a promising debut in which she finished just behind JOYPHORIA (7) who ran well in her next start
  7. JOYPHORIA – A close-up 4th in a Maiden over 1600m at Chantilly on 19 December. Showed vast progress on her debut run and is expected to have a say in the finish
  8. LA ALMADIA – A well-beaten 8th in a Maiden over 2000m at this course on 13 December. Has run well over this distance so that could help her chances
  9. WHAKA – Not in contention when 8th in a Maiden over 2000m at this course on 26 December. Looks well held by DAMABIAH ANGEL (5) on that run
    Summary: This looks a competitive event but there was a lot to like about the debut run of KOMET CHOP (1) who looked threatening before finishing 3rd behind two useful colts. Comes back from a break and should have strengthened up. DAMABIAH ANGEL (5) looked dangerous in the run for home before fading late. Will benefit from the drop in trip. JOYPHORIA (7) showed up well in her last start and will race in blinkers again. AMUSANTE (6) made an encouraging debut and should show further progress.

  14. JONCOURT – Three solid runs of late, 3rd at Angers on December 6th in a Class 2 hurdle. Honest performer who should not be ruled out
  15. APANIIWA – Two unplaced runs since a 4th at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on December 3rd in a handicap hurdle. Merits consideration
  16. PABLO – Finished 3rd at this track over 3800m in a Class 1 handicap hurdle on December 10th. Hard to discount
  17. DESERT STORM – Unplaced last time, 4th at Dieppe over 3900m in a Class 3 chase on June 4th. He lacks consistency, and others preferred
  18. JOUVANCELLE – Two unplaced runs since a win over 3800m at Fontainebleau on December 2nd in a Class 3 hurdle. Others seem in better shape
  19. BOOPER DU POUEY – Three solid efforts of late, 4th on the most recent over 3800m in a handicap hurdle at this track on December 16th. Might find a few too smart
  20. ANTAIOS – Has won his last two races, the latter over 3650m at Mont-De-Marsan in a handicap hurdle on December 7th. Unlikely to trouble some of these
  21. KOP DE BOULOGNE – Two placed runs of late, 3rd on the most recent over 3800m at Fontainebleau on December 2nd in a Class 3 hurdle. Look elsewhere
  22. KIDNAPPEUR – Won on the last start over 4400m on November 5th in a Class 2 chase. Might not be as effective back over hurdles
  23. FURIOSO – Fair 5th over 4200m in a handicap chase at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on December 11th, a Class 2 handicap hurdle winner at Auteuil in February. Player
  24. KIMFLY – Placed 3rd last time over the track and trip in a handicap hurdle on December 16th. Can make the frame
  25. LE LASCAR – Unplaced on the one run in 2025 over 3800m at this track in a handicap hurdle on December 16th. Hard to recommend
    Summary: FURIOSO (14) could be the best option in a competitive handicap hurdle. He won a Class 2 handicap hurdle in February and is racing off an attractive handicap rating. VISION DU RHEU (1) can make the selection work for success despite having to concede weight to all of his rivals. NEVER RISK (2) is lofty in the weights but is capable of having a say in the finish. KIMFLY (15) ran well at the track when third last time and should not be overlooked. PABLO (7) looks best of the remainder.

  28. HASPARREN – Placed 4th on the last two starts, the latter over 3500m in a Class 1 hurdle at this track on December 14th. Player
  29. ROMAN SKIES – Unplaced last time, a win before that over 3500m at Auteuil on November 29th in a claiming hurdle. He might find a few too smart
  30. PASSIONATA – Placed on the last two starts, 2nd on the most recent over 3400m at Angers on December 6th in a maiden hurdle. Ought to be thereabouts
  31. GOUVERNE – Unplaced last time, a win before that over 3450m at Mont-De-Marsan on December 7th in a Class 3 hurdle. This will be more challenging
  32. MINUIT DU SEUIL – Finished 4th at this track in a Class 2 hurdle over 3500m on December 31st, and a win over 3300m in a claiming hurdle at Pau on December 20th. In the mix
  33. PATHOGNOMONIQUE – Placed 3rd on January 3rd in a claiming hurdle at this track over 3300m. Lacks consistency and looks safely held
    Summary: BOYSTONE (2) has performed well in his three starts over hurdles since winning on his flat debut at Royan in September. His third place in a Class 1 hurdle at this track in December was a solid effort, and he can confirm that form with HASPARREN (3), who finished fourth in the same race and looks the main danger. PASSIONATA (5) is still seeking her first success but is capable of featuring prominently. MINUIT DU SEUIL (7) heads the remainder.

  36. KIROGA – Two unplaced runs of late, 2nd previously over 3900m in a Class 2 chase at Dieppe on June 4th. Can make the top three
  37. MAGIC MARVEL – Showed improved form when scoring at this track over 4000m in a Class 3 chase on December 16th. Former Listed winner over hurdles at Auteuil in 2024. Key chance
  38. JOLIVENT – Failed to complete the course at this track over 3900m in a Class 3 chase on December 24th. Not the most reliable and is best avoided
  39. KING TO BE – Unplaced on the one start in 2025 over 4000m at Lyon Parilly on November 22nd in a handicap hurdle. Class 1 chase winner in 2024, but has to get back on track
  40. INFRA ROUGE – Finished 5th on December 24th over 3900m in a Class 3 chase at this track. He should strip fitter for that run as it was his first of 2025
  41. NOMADE – Credible 3rd over 4000m in a Class 3 chase on December 16th at this track behind MAGIC MARVEL (4). Has ground to make up to be involved
    Summary: MAGIC MARVEL (4) showed the benefit of a run when scoring on his second start in 2025 over 4000m at this track in mid-December. He is given a marginal vote ahead of KOKOCHAGA (2), who has shown progressive form with two wins of late, the latter over 4000m at this track on December 14th in a Class 3 chase. JERIKO BOULOISE (1) ran well in a Class 2 chase at Auteuil in November and warrants respect. KIROGA (3) is also worth considering.

  45. LIMPREVUE SPECIALE – Two unplaced runs of late, 5th on the latter at this track in a Class 4 hurdle at Pau on December 24th. Tries fences, and others preferred
  46. COEUR D’ACIER – Placed 2nd over 3500m at this track in a Class 2 hurdle on December 28th. Now ties fences for the first time and has work to do
  47. ESASTAR – Credible 5th over 3400m in a Class 4 chase at Pau on December 16th, won over hurdles in a Class 4 race in August at Clairefontaine. Consider each-way
  48. MISS CHANA – Fair 5th over 3600m in a Listed hurdle on November 16th at Auteuil on the last start. Winning hurdler who tries fences and warrants respect
  49. MISS DES BOULLATS – Unseated rider last time over fences, 2nd before that over 3500m in a Listed hurdle at Auteuil on December 7th. Worth strong consideration on the second try over fences
    Summary: MISS DES BOULLATS (8) unseated her jockey on her chasing debut at this track 7 days ago. Her form over hurdles has been solid before that mishap, and she is given another chance. Her main danger could be MISS CHANA (7), who has the scope to do well over fences and has solid form over hurdles, with two wins at this track. ESASTAR (6) was a credible fifth over fences recently, and she can make the frame. L’AUREOLE (2) makes up the shortlist.

  56. LYRICAL STAR – Unplaced last time, 3rd before that at Haras Du Pin on October 25th over 3700m in a Class 3 chase. Second try in a cross-country and enters calculations
  57. L AUDACIEUX – Placed 4th at Pau over the track and trip in a Class 2 cross-country on December 14th. Unlikely to trouble some of these
  58. BEAUTIFUL GLORY – Three unplaced runs of late, well beaten over 3900m in a handicap chase at Pau on December 10th. Look for an alternative
  59. LAGAZELLE – Two unplaced runs since a 4th in a claiming chase at Landivisiau on September 21st. Failed to finish in a cross-country in October. Hardly inspiring
    Summary: LE MAGNIFICO (4) won over the track and trip on December 14th in a Class 2 cross-country chase and looks capable of following up. KOUDOU (2) was fifth over hurdles recently, and scored over regulation fences in a handicap chase at Vittel in July. Trying this discipline could bring out more. NORTH WAY (5) scored at Agen in a cross-country in late November and should not be ignored. KING SAINT (1) is also trying a cross-country for the first time and can have a say.

  62. JUMPER DETE – Placed 2nd over 3800m at Pau in a handicap hurdle on December 16th. Capable of being competitive on a track he likes
  63. SEAL ROCKS – Two placed runs of late, 3rd on the latest at Nancy over 3800m in a Class 3 hurdle on November 30th. Likely to find a few of these too smart
  64. IGOR – Won over 3700m at Pau in a claiming chase on December 20th. Back over hurdles should not be an inconvenience
  65. KOSY MAG – Finished 3rd over 4100m at Angers in a Class 3 hurdle on November 11th. Ought to be involved at the finish
  66. KOLMAN DE BEAUFOUR – Unplaced last time, 4th before that at Auteuil over 3600m in a Class 4 hurdle on November 5th. One to keep onside
  67. KING OF RUN – Four unplaced runs of late, 6th at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on December 29th in a handicap hurdle over 4000m. Has eased to a decent handicap mark
  68. SUPER FLAM – Placed 4th at Auteuil over 3600m in a handicap hurdle on November 29th. Ought to be involved in the shake-up
  69. CENTLOU AA – Two unplaced runs recently, 6th over 4000m in a chase at Pau on December 14th. Makes limited appeal, and others are more persuasive
  70. I RISK – Four 3rd placed efforts of late, the most recent over 3700m in a claiming chase at this track on December 20th. Alternatives appeal more
    Summary: JUMPER DETE (3) was a decent second at this track over 3800m in a handicap hurdle in mid-December and looks ready to gain another success. KING OF RUN (8) is racing off a good racing weight and is capable of making his presence felt. KOLMAN DE BEAUFOUR (7) was a pleasing fourth at Auteuil two runs back and is one to look at each-way. SUPER FLAM (9) also ran well at Auteuil on the last start when fourth and ought to be thereabouts. POULORIUS (2) is also worth a mention.

  71. OCTAVIO – A poor 13th in a Claimer over 1400m at this course on 28 November. That was his first run in France but it was uninspiring and he is best left alone
  72. NOARDS – Highly encouraging 2nd in a Maiden over this track and trip on 4 December. That was gutsy performance and a win can’t be far off but he does have to overcome a wide draw
  73. EYE OF THE TIGER – A good effort to run 4th in Maiden over this track and trip on 4 December. Not far behind NOARDS (2) and JARKI (4) in that race so he has to be in the running
  74. JARKI – A decent 3rd in Maiden over this track and trip on 4 December. He was trying this trip for the first time and put up an encouraging display. There could be more to come
  75. AIME VIPI – Outclassed when 15th in a Handicap over 2400m at this course on 26 December. Has been running over further and perhaps the drop to a Maiden over this trip might help
  76. LUCKY D’ID – A great 5th in a Handicap over this track and trip on 16 December. He ran well above his rating and will benefit by a return to a Maiden but is drawn widest of all
  77. ZINAMIX – Pulled up in a Hurdle over 3500m at this course on 14 December. His one run on the Flat was also poor so cannot be considered
  78. MASSKO – Well beaten in a Maiden over this course and distance on 4 December. Held by a number of others on that run and will need marked improvement to trouble those runners
  79. SCALA D’ASPE – Finished 12th in a Claimer over 1400m at this course on 28 November. That was her first run in two years and she will need to prove herself
  80. VERYTE – Did not run badly when 7th in a Handicap over 2400m at this course on 28 November. Back in a Maiden over this trip she will be far more competitive. She deserves respect
  81. DALYNSKA – Was 8th in a Hurdle race over 3400m at Saint-Malo on 29 August. Has changed stables, returns to Flat racing and comes back from a rest so will need to prove herself
  82. L ORIENT EXPRESS –
  83. MALWINA BELLA – Mediocre 9th in a Maiden over this course and distance on 4 December. Held by many other stronger runners on that performance
  84. BEARN IN LOVE – Never dangerous 16th in a Handicap over 1600m at this course on 28 November. Tries further but on recent efforts cannot be considered
  85. SKYWOOD – Unraced gelding by Ivawood out of Anabaa Blue mare Speedgogirl trained by Guillaume Soulie. Dam’s first foal
  86. LA KARAGOOL – Unraced filly by Birchwood out of Stormy River mare Riviere De Perles trained by Ludovic Cadot. Dam ran well on this surface and her half-sister, Pic Du Midi, recently won over 1600m at this course
    Summary: Consistent NOARDS (2) has raced five times for two seconds and two thirds and he is due for a change of fortune. The main threat is likely to come from LUCKY D’ID (6), who was unlucky in a Handicap last time and still managed to finish 5th. JARKI (4) and EYE OF THE TIGER (3) ran third and fourth respectively behind NOARDS (2) last time and luck in running this time could decide the winner of this race, especially as all four jump from wide draws.

  2. NO TIME DU DONJON – Disqualified in class D at Vincennes over 2700m on 4 December. Did a lot better on debut and is not out of it
  3. NERPRUN – A runner-up on debut in class F at Argentan over 2150m on 14 December. Should be right there at the finish once again
  4. NARKOS DU CHATAULT – Finished fifth on debut in class F at Nantes over 2275m on 16 December. Capable of improvement and has a place chance
  5. NUMBER DREAM – Disqualified in both starts so far, the latest in a class F at Cordemais over 2150m on 23 November. Hard to trust and others make more appeal
  6. NORTHWOOD – Victorious in class F at Argentan over 2150m on 14 December. Disqualified on debut but can double up
  7. NEWCASH DE PHYT’S – Disqualified in a class D mounted race at Vincennes over 2200m on 26 December. Not easy to trust but might play a minor role
  8. NOOR DU CAMPUS – Has run well in both starts and was third in class D at Vincennes over 2700m on 30 December. Tries barefoot and should contest the finish
  9. NEED YOU AGAIN – Has not shown much in two starts and was unplaced in class C at Vincennes over 2100m on 19 December. More is needed to win
  10. NIARKOS DU CEBE – Disqualified on debut in class E at Mont-de-Marsan over 2875m on 26 October. Returns from a break but is capable of improvement and might play a minor role
    Summary: NEO DE JOUDES (1) did all that was asked of him when a very easy debut winner. He sets the standard for the race and can double up. NORTHWOOD (6) fluffed his lines on debut but was an impressive winner second time around. He can fight out the finish again if smart. NERPRUN (3) finished strongly on debut and can be a threat again. NO TIME DU DONJON (2) ran better than the bare result suggests despite his disqualification last time out and can also get involved in the finish.

  12. MADO – Unreliable and was 10th in a class E mounted race at Vincennes over 2200m on 11 December. Tries barefoot and could suprise
  13. MONIA SEVEN – In good shape and was third in class F at Cabourg over 2750m on 6 December. Can contest the finish once again
  14. MOETE DE BELFOND – Has struggled of late and was unplaced in class E at Argentan over 2800m on 23 December. Has a place chance
  15. MALINKA DE GENNES – Has struggled of late and finished 9th in class E at Le Mans over 2200m on 15 December. Tries barefoot but others make more appeal
  16. MILONGA DU CHENE – Showed improvement when runner-up in class E at Cabourg over 2750m on 16 December. Tries barefoot and can go one better
  17. MONEY DU CHATELET – Consistent and finished fourth in class E at Le Mans over 2200m on 15 December. Has claims to win a race of this nature
  18. MIDNIGHT CHENU – Not reliable and finished 8th in class E at Cabourg over 2750m on 25 October. More is needed to beat these rivals
  19. MAESTRIA DE CHENU – Unreliable and finished 7th in a class E at Le Mans over 2200m on 15 December. Races without shoes and could play a minor role
  20. MIROITANTE DE PADD – Unreliable and was unplaced in class E at Argentan over 2800m on 23 December. Tries barefoot and is capable of earning some money
  21. MINKY PERRINE – Has struggled twice and finished 9th in class E at Pontchateau over 2200m on 21 December. Races without shoes and others are preferred
  22. MY QUEEN BLUE – Off form and was unplaced in class E at Le Mans over 2200m on 15 December. Needs to find a few lengths to win
  23. MIDNIGHT SOMOLLI – Not reliable and finished 6th in class E at Cabourg over 2750m on 8 December. Needs to do a bit more to score
    Summary: A very interesting race, as many of these are barefoot for the first time. MONEY DU CHATELET (7) is consistent and could have a winning turn, as her form has held up well. MILONGA DU CHENE (6) is improving and races without shoes, so will be a threat. MAQUENZA DU BOCAGE (1) had some solid wins before faulting last time out and can bounce back to score if smart. MONIA SEVEN (3) remains in good form and is not out of it.

  28. JUSTICE D’EOLE – Has some fair form and finished fourth in a class F mounted race at Mont-de-Marsan over 2875m on 18 December. Might play a minor role
  29. KWARTZ SIBEY – Showed improvement and was runner-up in a class D mounted race at Vincennes over 2700m on 21 December. Can go one place better

    Summary: JUST BIRD (11) showed improvement at Mont-de-Marsan and will be fitter this time. He can go one better in a very open race. KENOBI D’HERFRAIE (1) has also improved of late and has no problems with this distance, so will be a threat. JANTARA DES BOIS (7) is not reliable but has claims if reproducing her penultimate start. JAMAIQUE DAIRPET (12) is very consistent and should fight out the finish yet again.

    Summary: A competitive race. MON CARAT TONIQUE (6) has not done much wrong so far. He won well on debut and has not been disgraced in two starts since then. He is the one to beat. MILO JO (8) put up an improved performance last time out and races without shoes, so must be a serious challenger. MAN ON THE MOON (14) won his latest start and is improving, so must be respected. MAHATMA DANICA (1) has shown some ability but does have three faults in a row.

HORN (15) is clearly capable of better than his last run and can also get into the frame.

LOVE TO RUN (12) has shown improvement of late and can be in the mix of things once again. LUBIE DE CELINIERE (9) faulted last time out but was in very good form before that and would not be a surprise winner.

    Summary: A very competitive-looking lucky last race. KEOPS BEGONIA (1) does his best when going right-handed and could win a race of this nature. KAPLA DEVOL (5) boasts a good record racing right-handed and when barefoot, so will be a real threat. KASH QUICK (12) will strip fitter this time and can get involved with the finish. KOH I NOOR (8) is consistent and can fight out the finish over this course and distance, so must be respected for that.
