French Selections Thursday 15th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX D’ERBRAY – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 59,000

  1. CHITCHAT – Made up for 14 December blip when easily winning a 2700m Class C here 10 days later. In less-elevated company this time and is in with a realistic shout of imposing
  2. HISTORIC DAY – 4th in a Bordeaux Class D in mid-December. Has decent Vincennes references but races shod and will have other ambitions
  3. HYDROMEL – Returns to a track he likes after running 5th in a Cagnes Class C a fortnight ago. Eric Raffin in the bike this time but seems to have too much to do
  4. HOLD UP RANAIS – Oddly below-par under similar conditions on 3 January. Has been allocated a good number though, enjoys a fine entry, and can pick up some prizemoney
  5. GUCCI DE BARB – Showed the limit of his capacity when last of 14 in a Class D over track and trip early this month. Has no love for Vincennes and, even racing barefoot, can be passed over
  6. TURE L.A. – Serious nordic raider making Vincennes bow after beating Prix d’Amerique runner Francesco Zet at Solvalla in late-November. Top pilot in the bike here and looks every part the horse to beat
  7. GUMP DU PONCELET – Quality element that took little time getting back to successful ways, dominating a Bordeaux Class D in early-December. Comes here fresh, starts in front and, despite the hike in category, should still acquit himself competitively
  8. FORREST GUMP SET – Has been giving a good account for the most part but lacklustre in last 2. Excellent in last 2 Vincennes starts though and, barefoot for the occasion, should not be ruled out
  9. GLAMOUR YOMA – Went off the boil after completing the hat-trick last summer and will need to get his house in order
  10. GRAZIELA D’EL – Failed to confirm 5 December course-and-distance victory when eliminated over 2700m a fortnight later. Is not ideally-drawn but her form is sure and can play an active role if David Thomain positions her early
  11. FALCO DU HAMEL – 5th at 148-1, a place behind HISTORIC DAY (2), in a Bordeaux Class D in mid-December and is not about to create an upset
  12. NICE PRESENT – Raced better in a Class D under these conditions in early-December than the result would suggest. Has pulled a less-bad number this time and can challenge for a place in the frame
  13. CHESTNUT (SWE) – Got back in the game on Christmas Eve when 4th to CHITCHAT (1) in a 2700m Class C here and Alexandre Abrivard can be confident of another big performance
  14. FERGIE HIGHLAND – Moderate mare with a pair of conditioners in her since the layoff. Goes barefoot this time but still not an obvious choice
  15. CERTAINLY (SWE) – Produced a good run on re-entry here on 27 December. Will have come on for the race, but still faces a stiff test
  16. GOELAND DE JANZE – Would have finished 4th or 5th in a similar event here early this month had she not been eliminated. Did not win the draw-lottery though and looks a minor place prospect at best
Summary: A first-rate element in his native Sweden, TURE L.A. (6) takes his first steps south of Scandinavia. He will be associated with Mathieu Mottier for the first time, is well-placed in front, and can get straight down to business. That said, he will still be taking on compatriots CHITCHAT (1) who ran out a commanding Class C winner over longer here recently, and CHESTNUT (SWE) (13) who has a particular appreciation for the Vincennes profile. NICE PRESENT (12) left a good impression against younger horses here last month and should prove considerably more productive. GRAZIELA D’EL (10) is never far from faulting but she won smartly over course and distance in early-December and, with application, can again figure prominently.

    TURE L.A. (6) – CHITCHAT (1) – CHESTNUT (SWE) (13) – NICE PRESENT (12)
    C2 – PRIX DE JUVISY – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Mounted – EUR € 33,000
  17. NO LIMIT DRY – Not an easy horse to handle but showed promise in his October qualification. Has had time to come on and, if behaved, can contest a podium finish
  18. NEW LOOK BERRY – Eliminated in both starts to date, one in each code, and will first need to show some form
  19. NORGUSSON ATALANTE – Never-threatening behind NEWTON DES ANDIERS (6) in a Class D over course and distance, on monte debut, on 9 December. Appears to have too much ground to make up
  20. NECTAR DE LA FYE – Showed marked improvement when 3rd in a Vire Class F early last month. Is unlikely to take Vincennes by storm but in this small field can pick up a first-5 payout
  21. NAUTILIO BELLO – Tricky colt that was quickly eliminated under these conditions on Boxing Day. Is quite obviously talented and can make a big impact if Eric Raffin manages to keep him trotting
  22. NEWTON DES ANDIERS – Highly impressive 2nd in a Class D over course and distance, on debut, on 9 December. Clearly has a bright future and looks primed to lose his maiden tag
  23. NECTAR DE BOMO – Made up for early-December blip when runner-up to an excellent colt over course and distance 2.5 weeks later, and in similar shape, can again figure prominently
Summary: After a most-promising qualification last October, NEWTON DES ANDIERS (6) put on a fine show under these very conditions first time out, and is easy to fancy for the win. A place behind him that day before faulting here on Boxing Day, NAUTILIO BELLO (5) sports hind pads this time and will have a lot to contribute if he gets off on the right foot. NECTAR DE BOMO (7) got back in the game 3 weeks ago and looks competitive once more.
    SELECTIONS
NEWTON DES ANDIERS (6) – NAUTILIO BELLO (5) – NECTAR DE BOMO (7) – NO LIMIT DRY (1)
    C3 – PRIX LOUIS CUSSINET – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 33,000
  24. NEED YOU MESLOIS – Disappointing in all 3 starts to date and is unlikely to spring any surprises
  25. NIOKY DE BAILLY – 6th behind NEW MONEY (6) in a 2700m Class D here 2 weeks ago but still has a lot more to find
  26. NANTUS D’AVIGNERE – Distant 5th of 7 in a 2100m Class C here last week. Has yet to show much liking for Vincennes and is unlikely to start now
  27. NO TIME DU DONJON – Placed in 2 of 3 to date, latterly 3rd in an Angers Class F on Sunday, and backs up with a realistic chance of making a big impact
  28. NIMEO FLOWER – Placed in first 2 before being eliminated 10 days ago at Cagnes-sur-Mer. Is patently in tip-top shape and can make first 5 if he takes to the new conditions
  29. NEW MONEY – Looked thoroughly professional when 4th in a 2700m Class D here 2 weeks ago. Returns with morale intact and looks eminently capable of getting off the mark
  30. NAXOS DIBAH – Could have finished closer at Cabourg a fortnight ago had he kept his action together. Is still a good future prospect though and can play a role if he turns
  31. NAOS DES MARETTES – Pleased, although unplaced, in better company here last weekend. Drops back in category, is nicely-engaged, and Alexis Collette will be expecting to capitalise
Summary: NEW MONEY (6) gave a very good account of himself on his debut over the main track here late last month; he has been learning his trade in good order and could well lose his maiden status this time. Benjamin Rochard will still be keeping a keen eye on NAOS DES MARETTES (8) who raced better over the short course last month than the result might imply and, despite his form-card, is still a major player. NO TIME DU DONJON (4) is a promising colt that will be reined by Eric Raffin for his return to the capital and will be expected to contest the finish.
    SELECTIONS
NEW MONEY (6) – NAOS DES MARETTES (8) – NO TIME DU DONJON (4) – NAXOS DIBAH (7)
    C4 – PRIX DE LA FERTE BERNARD – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D Amateur Riders – Mounted – EUR € 50,000
  32. JIL – Tricky mare making first appearance since October. Sports pads for the occasion but still not a concern
  33. JACK DES MALBERAUX – Back under the saddle after a pair of harness disappointments and will have nothing to bring to the party
  34. JACK L’EVENTREUR – Debuts in the discipline after some disappointing harness runs here and appears to have no realistic chance
  35. JASMINE DE NEUVY – Returns to racing barefoot after being conditioned here on 21 December. Seldom disappoints when applied and should prove competitive for a place on the podium
  36. JUBLA VIKING – Back in her code of preference after prepping here on Sunday. Races barefoot for the occasion and, while not a priority, cannot be ruled out
  37. IBILI D’OCCAGNES – Gave a reassuringly good account at Le Croise-Laroche but was eliminated on 24 December next time. Is not a contender but should not be entirely written off
  38. JOYEUSE ENTREE – Gave a reassuringly good account when 3rd in a 2175m Class E here 2.5 weeks ago. The good Estelle Croisic in the bike and will be afforded every chance. Place prospect
  39. IMAGE D’HERFRAIE – Has returned to the discipline in good shape, most recently 4th to IKITORI (10) under these conditions on Christmas Eve despite being uneasy of stride. Is unlikely to get her nose in front but is unlikely to be far from the action either
  40. IXOR DE L’ITON – Imposed at Laval prior to running 4th in a 2850m Class D here early last month. Entrusted to Theo Raffin this time and should not be far off the mark
  41. IKITORI – Made up for late-November blip when winning a 2700m Class D with ease here 3 weeks ago, enjoys a good engagement, and Andrea Roussel will be justifiably confident of confirming
  42. JADE DE CASTELLE – Is significantly better than 21 December result would suggest. Boasts solid references over 2700m here and looks a serious proposition
Summary: IKITORI (10) gave his entourage a fine Christmas present when dominating a Class D under these conditions on 24 December, and a similar performance would see him repeat. Shod to preference this time, JADE DE CASTELLE (11) benefits from a terrific entry and Justin Maillard will be out to make hay. Barefoot following a conditioner, JASMINE DE NEUVY (4) presents super credentials under these conditions and will be expected to finish in the mix, as will JOYEUSE ENTREE (7) who encouraged here late last month.
    SELECTIONS
    IKITORI (10) – JADE DE CASTELLE (11) – JASMINE DE NEUVY (4) – JOYEUSE ENTREE (7)
    C5 – PRIX DE CANTIN – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 41,000
  43. ERGA OMNES PAR – Surprise 5th of 17 in a 2850m Class E here on 28 October. Has not been seen since however and a repeat seems highly unlikely
  44. EMY STECCA – Capable Italian type but has placed just once in 12 main-track starts and can be ruled out
  45. ETOILE DU OZ – Moderate sort with just the one race under her belt since the spell. Is here for reasons of conditioning though and will have other priorities
  46. ESEDOMANI – Handy sort at home in her native Italy. Is clearly in form but in this company will need to find more
  47. KRACOTTE VERGNIER – Comfortable winner at Cagnes before running 2nd to a very good horse here on 1 January. Is clearly in excellent shape and has a realistic chance of imposing
  48. KEVIVE DE MAIL – Somewhat unlucky 4th to KANTARELLE (12) in a Class F over track and trip on Christmas Eve. Mathieu Mottier in the bike for the first time and is worth keeping an eye on
  49. KAMELIYA – Tricky element that gave a good account when 3rd, a place behind KRACOTTE VERGNIER (5), in a 2850m Class F here 2 weeks ago. Sports modified shoeing which should be enough to settle scores. Claim
  50. KELLY D’ERABLE – Returns to racing barefoot after finishing a one-paced 7th in a 2850m Class E here late last month and cannot be discounted
  51. KALIKA DU LEVANT – Useful mare with decent course-and-distance references. Has just the one run in her since the spell but, barefoot this time, is unlikely to disappoint
  52. NICE STEEL – Takes first competitive Vincennes steps after prepping twice at home in Sweden. Front shoes off for the occasion and the engagement of Benjamin Rochard will only work in her favour
  53. KIARA DE LANDEMER – Imposed under harness at Amiens prior to running 2nd in a 2175m monte Class F here on 24 December. Takes on a better class of mare this time and chances appear limited
  54. KANTARELLE – Got back in the winners’ circle on Christmas Eve, easily winning a Class F over course and distance. Has earned the right to step up in category and looks competitive once more
  55. RAGAZZA DU CHENE – Useful on a good day and impressed in last 3 starts over 2700m here. Has not been seen out since October but is competitively-shod, well-engaged, and must not be underestimated
  56. KOH PHI PHI ISLAND – Fine servant that lost her way during the autumn but encouraged at Pontchateau on 21 December. Benefits from a terrific entry, will be similarly-shod, and can pick up some prizemoney if she stays in stride
Summary: She may not be the calmest horse in the field but KAMELIYA (7) is dynamic when focused and, with pads fitted for the first time, should logically turn the tables on KRACOTTE VERGNIER (5) who just had her measure here on New Year’s Day. KANTARELLE (12) has taken her game to a new level this winter and opened her Vincennes account 3 weeks ago. After a reintroduction run last month, KALIKA DU LEVANT (9) goes first-time barefoot and should be good enough to get in on the action.
    SELECTIONS
    KAMELIYA (7) – KRACOTTE VERGNIER (5) – KANTARELLE (12) – KALIKA DU LEVANT (9)
    C6 – PRIX JEAN-PIERRE REYNALDO – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 52,000
  57. LARIANO – Hardy type making first appearance since early-November. Has previously won a Class A under these conditions, but is unlikely to be given a hard race
  58. LOULOU DAB – Made it 3 in a row when winning a Class C over track and trip unopposed on 28 December. Has bags of untapped potential and it would be no surprise to see him have his way once again
  59. LAHIRE DE NAPPES – Has taken well to Vincennes conditions and was most recently given an easy conditioner. Shod to preference this time and should again prove competitive for a place on the podium
  60. LEGACY JIEL – Serious trotter that ran 2nd under these conditions earlier in the month before subsequently losing it in the stewards’ room. Has been reconfigured and can redeem himself if Benjamin Rochard keeps him out of harm’s way
  61. LEADER D’AIMTE – Game individual that ran 5th to LOUSTIC DE SALOMAX (10) in a 2175m Class C here on 19 December. Sports modified shoeing and one must bear in mind that he is also Gr.3-placed. First 5
  62. LAGNU MAG – Reassured somewhat when 5th in a 2850m Class B here a fortnight ago. Barefoot this time but others still easier to back
  63. LE PRIEURE – Fine element in the monte discipline. In this line-up for a change of scenery and will have nothing to offer
  64. LOBBING DE BLARY – 4th, a place behind LAGNU MAG (6), in a Class B over course and distance late last month, before losing his action next time, but on better behaviour can put things right. Place chance
  65. LE VOYOU D’ALMO – Has 3 runs under his belt since returning to competition, but is preparing for a campaign under the saddle and can be ruled out
  66. LOUSTIC DE SALOMAX – Dynamic since returning to competition in the autumn. Excels over 2700m here and, given the chance, can bring the fight to LOULOU DAB (2)
Summary: Like a horse transformed over recent weeks, LOULOU DAB (2) trounced a good field here late last month, pulling off the hat-trick. He has progressed for every run and steps further up in category with the 4-timer a distinct possibility. It’s a similar case for LOUSTIC DE SALOMAX (10) who just missed out on his own hat-trick here almost a month ago. Winner of a Gr.3 here in late-November, LAHIRE DE NAPPES (3) will be shod as he was that day and looks a contender once more. LOBBING DE BLARY (8) is very much at home under these conditions and is not incapable of trotting his way into the picture.
    SELECTIONS

    C7 – PRIX DE BIARRITZ – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000
  67. MALIUM – Showed promise last season but lost his way during the autumn. Races barefoot this time but others still easier to support
  68. MALICIOSO – Produced best Vincennes performance to date when 3rd to MILLE SABORDS DIVO (9) in a 2100m Class E here on New Year’s Day. Eric Raffin keeps the faith and is easy to like for a first-5 cheque
  69. MISTHOS CHRISTAL – Delicate colt but has ample ability. Has yet to deliver at Vincennes but races first-time barefoot and should not be written off
  70. MINUS DE CHENU – Honest type that always gives his best. Is clearly in form but would be preferred at a marginally lower level
  71. MALDRIC D’ECHAL – Good future prospect starting for first time since August and is going to need the run
  72. MAMBO DRY – Made up for 2 straight eliminations when outclassing the opposition in a 2100m Class E here on 20 December. Goes first-time barefoot and climbs the category-ladder, and on good behaviour can wrap this up.
  73. MUST DE CAHOT – Never troubled in late-November when dominating a Class E over course and distance. Bit off a little too much next time, but is plainly in form and with hind shoes off can make a big splash
  74. MORETIME DU CAMPUS – Quality element that has twice gone close recently, has references over course and distance, and it will not be long before he gets his nose back in front
  75. MILLE SABORDS DIVO – Took no time getting back to victorious ways, comfortably securing a 2100m Class E here on New Year’s Day. Appears to be back on the right trajectory and a repeat is not out of the question
Summary: MAMBO DRY (6) got back in the winners’ circle here last month with a superb run over 2100m and, barefoot for the first time, has every chance of confirming. He will still face resistance from a freshly-configured MUST DE CAHOT (7) who was a commanding winner under these conditions in late-November. It took some time but MILLE SABORDS DIVO (9) came good during the summer, won his first target of the winter and, in similar shape, will be no easy touch. MORETIME DU CAMPUS (8) has been knocking at the door and will be barefoot for his return to the main track.

  76. KENNEDY FRANCE – Quality element that was out of sorts for much of 2025. Is unraced for 2 months and best to hold off
  77. KEMPEL DE GUEZ – Placed in last 2, most recently close 2nd in a 2175m Class D here on 3 January. Has been knocking at the door and can win this if he disposes of KATCHI QUICK (10)
  78. KID PARKER – Complicated but talented sort that lost his action behind KONG D’HOLLOW (12) on re-entry when competitive for a cheque. Is competitively-shod this time and with application will be no pushover
  79. KAISER DES GRANGES – Gave a fine account when 7th to KING GEORGES (9) in a 2700m Class C on 28 December despite never being at his ease, but should more than make amends if kept out of trouble
  80. KRAKEN CASTELETS – Produced some good performances at both Parisian tracks last season but out of the picture in last 2 and must first re-establish his credentials
  81. KHARNAS – Sprang a 36-1 surprise when 4th behind KING GEORGES (9) in 2700m Class C here on 28 December. Faces a much tougher challenge this time and can be passed over
  82. KARMA – Showed improvement when 5th behind KING GEORGES (9) in 2700m Class C here on 28 December, but will need to find more this time
  83. KOALA BLUE – Starts for first time in almost 2 months when 2nd in a 2100m Class C here. Cannot be considered a priority but always gives his best and has a reasonable chance of getting a look in
  84. KING GEORGES – Has left his woes in the past since starting to race barefoot, latterly 2nd in a 2700m Class C here on 28 December, and should play another active role
  85. KATCHI QUICK – Fine servant that came close under these conditions last winter. Will be fit by now and looks primed to add another win to his tally
  86. KOMPANY VINCENT – Runs barefoot for first time in Paris after placing in a Cagnes Class C last month, but still appears to be taking on too much
  87. KONG D’HOLLOW – Made short work of his re-entry run when comfortable winner of a 2700m Class C here on 19 December. Is better than most here and, shod or not, is never to be underestimated
  88. KISS ME SIMON – Placed in 2 before failing to fire on 1 December. Is just 20 Euros from elimination though and must not be overlooked
Summary: Put away last February after his winter campaign, KATCHI QUICK (10) has a pair of conditioners in him by now, sports modified shoeing, and has every chance of bringing home the bacon this time. Theo Duvaldestin will still be mindful of KAISER DES GRANGES (4) who was not the most fortunate here late last month, and KEMPEL DE GUEZ (2) who is clearly close to his race. The excellent KONG D’HOLLOW (12) won smartly on his comeback and even with shoes fitted can get in on the action.

Summary: An open race. LOUVE DE CHANLECY (16) is not reliable but did win at Saint-Brieuc over a similar distance and can follow up if in the same mood. LIBRE SAUTONNE (15) is consistent and was not disgraced at Vincennes last month so must be given consideration. Summary: A solid winner at Nantes last month, LOTUS MADRIK (14) boasts a good record of one win and one second place in two starts over right-handed tracks. He looks a solid candidate here and can be retained ahead of L’ARTISTE DE BOMO (12) who is off since end of October but runs without hind shoes, so must be fit and ready. LOUJYO VITA (11) is well entered on the front row and should be close to his peak form after two comeback runs. Barefoot for the first time and entrusted to Yoann Lebourgeois, LADISLAS DU CANET (5) cannot be ruled out.
