R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX ROQUEPINE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr2 – Harness – EUR € 150,000
- NORD AMERICAINE – Useful filly that has been configured for the first time after losing her action here last weekend, but would have better prospects in a less-elevated field
- ISCHIA JOY – Takes first competitive steps in France after winning 3 in a row in Italy. Has been entrusted to Alexandre Abrivard for the occasion and should have the wherewithal to pick up a cheque
- NAFI DE REVE D’OR –
- NOVA TIM – Surprisingly held her own in Gr.2 Prix Gelinotte 3 weeks ago. Has been fitted with 4 pads for the first time and cannot be discounted
- NANIKA DU PONT – Won 2 of last 3, most recently a Class B over course and distance early last month, but appears to be out of her depth this time
- NOELA JOSSELYN – Went from running 2nd in a Class A to 3rd to NOCIVE DU CHOQUEL (11) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Gelinotte here on 4 January. Struggles to hold a line but can finish close if she does
- NORMA JEANE – Failed to convert Class A victory over the inner course on Christmas Day when one-paced 7th in 4 January race of reference. Front pads fitted but would still be preferred at a lower level
- NYMPHE D’ELLE – Failed to deliver in a pair of Gr.2s prior to easily winning a Class A over track and trip last weekend. Is unlikely to set the cat among the pigeons but is still capable of getting in on the action
- NORMANDIE NIEMEN – Still occasionally a handful but left quite the impression when 2nd to NOCIVE DU CHOQUEL (11) in Gr.2 Prix Une de Mai under these conditions in mid-December, and can again apply the pressure
- NAYARA – Top-rate filly that made up for some poor luck in Prix Une de Mai when good 2nd to NOCIVE DU CHOQUEL (11) in Prix Gelinotte early this month. is patently at the top of her game and Eric Raffin will be eager to prove the point
- NOCIVE DU CHOQUEL – Unopposed winner of 2175m Gr.2 Prix Gelinotte here on 4 January. Is unbeaten with Francois Lagadeuc who will be intent on keeping the undefeated run going
Summary: NOCIVE DU CHOQUEL (11) has absolutely blossomed this winter, scoring a 2nd straight Gr.2 success when comfortably securing the Prix Gélinotte earlier this month, and a third consecutive victory is well within her grasp. Runner-up to her in the Gr.2 Prix Une de Mai in mid-December, NORMANDIE NIEMEN (9) comes here fresh and once again looks the main danger. Most unlucky on that occasion, NAYARA (10) made amends when 2nd in the Gelinotte, and will sport front pads this time. NOELA JOSSELYN (6) finished a place behind her that day and is unlikely to disappoint.

C2 – PRIX DES ANDELYS – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class B – Mounted – EUR € 52,000 - MAESTRO MUSIC – Honest type that ran 4th, a place behind MAYA GERBEHAYE (5), in a 2700m Class C here a fortnight ago. Has a lot of ground to make up and evening running barefoot is unlikely to cause an upset
- MODE DU VALLON – Has yet to show any particular flair for the monte code and even with hind shoes off has no possible chance
- MIDNIGHT MOLLY – Has a pair of runs in her since the autumn break, and will be sporting a fresh configuration, but against the boys has no possible chance
- MISSY DE JIEL – Sports 4 pads for the first time after finishing last of 6 in a Class C a fortnight ago. Has ample ability and should appreciate this shorter trip. Place prospect
- MAYA GERBEHAYE – Has taken particularly well to her new vocation, most recently running 3rd in a 2700m Class C here a fortnight ago. Goes barefoot for the first time and even though climbing the category-ladder, could pleasantly surprise
- MENTALIST AR – Has just the one race under his belt since September, finishing last but one behind MINDELO (13) late last month. Gets to race first-time barefoot but still not an obvious choice
- MELODIE DE BLARY – Undeniably capable but has struggled of late. Goes barefoot again though and can begin to come good, provided she gets off on the right foot
- MELANCHOLY MAN – Won a Class D over course and distance at 24-1 early last month. Failed to confirm behind MINDELO (13) 3 weeks later, but with hind pads fitted can make his presence felt
- MANHATTAN JIEL – Still a maiden after 18 runs but can trot. Is confirmed in the discipline though and with hind shoes off this time can make his way into the money
- MUNHOA VEDAQUAISE – Serious filly that is never far from faulting but has talent in abundance. Ran 2nd to MOJITA (12) in a 2700m Class C here on 26 November, has had ample time to get back to her best, and is closest threat once again
- MY BLACK CADENCE – Respectable but never-dangerous 3rd in a Class B under these conditions on Boxing Day. Faces an even tougher test this time and will struggle to make her presence felt
- MOJITA – Unopposed winner of both starts over the main track. Has not been seen out for 2 months but will have been prepared for this and looks primed for a maiden Vincennes hat-trick
- MINDELO – Never threatening but respectable 4th of 7 in a Class B over course and distance late last month. Gets to race barefoot for the first time and, between the configuration and the engagement, is unlikely to go home empty-handed
Summary: Thoroughly professional since being switched to the ridden code, MOJITA (12) enjoys an excellent entry here, sports front pads for the first time, and can wrap this up. Runner-up to her on their respective last start, MUNHOA VEDAQUAISE (10) has also been configured competitively and, with application, should again prove the principal threat. MELODIE DE BLARY (7) can be a handful but her ability is not in question and will be no soft touch if Camille Levesque can keep her trotting. MISSY DE JIEL (4) is better than recent numbers would suggest and the new configuration may just be what the doctor ordered.

C3 – PRIX PAUL VIEL – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr2 – Harness – EUR € 150,000 - INSTAGRAM BI – Eliminated, when unsupported, on French debut in Prix Maurice de Gheest 3 weeks ago. Has been reconfigured but will first need to establish some credentials
- US DARBY – Won 3 on the trot at home in Mons before running 4th to NUEVO CASH (13) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest. Is unlikely to improve on that but will not be available at 66-1 either
- NELOMBO BELLO – Moderate sort taking a big step up in category after running 2nd in a 2100m Class C here a fortnight ago. Hind pads fitted for the first time but still not a priority
- IAGO ROC – Transalpine raider making French debut after running 2nd over 1660m in Bologna. Has no references beyond 2100m and is unlikely to upset the status quo
- NATURALE MAG – Unexceptional colt with no place in this line-up and can be confidently passed over
- NOVECENTO – Quality individual taking a notable hike in category after running tenacious 2nd in a Class A over track and trip last Sunday. Is not a contender for the silverware but can nevertheless trot his way into the money
- NAT KING COLE – Unlucky 2nd to NELSON DE BUSSET (9) in Gr.3 Prix Timoko before losing all chance at start of Prix Emmanuel Margouty. Is plainly better than that and David Thomain will be keen to set the record straight
- NET MONEY – Failed to confirm Christmas Eve victory when eliminated in Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest. Clearly has ability but still seems to be taking on too much
- NELSON DE BUSSET – Won Gr.3 Prix Timoko 2 months ago but has shown the limits of his capacity since, and is unlikely to influence the result
- NEVER FORGET – Ran 3rd in Gr.2 Prix Emmanuel Margouty before confirming in Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest 3 weeks ago. Stays shod against more competitively-configured horses but still looks a player
- NELSON EMGE – Valiant 4th in Prix Emmanuel Margouty before coming 2nd to NUEVO CASH (13) in 3 January race of reference. Is plainly on the right road and should again finish in the thick of things
- NOB HILL – Top-tier colt that lost his undefeated status when eliminated in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest on 3 January, but outclassed the opposition in Gr.2 Prix Emmanuel Margouty over track and trip and, with application, can repeat
- NUEVO CASH – Runner-up to NOB HILL (12) in Prix Emmanuel Margouty before comfortably securing Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest on 3 January. Is plainly a colt for the future and will be expected to contest the finish. Chance
Summary: A cracker of a race in store for us here with 2 mega-talents taking each other on. Winner of the Prix Emmanuel Margouty at the expense of NUEVO CASH (13), NOB HILL (12) was unable to repeat when eliminated in the Gr.2 Prix Maurice de Gheest early this month. Thierry Duvaldestin’s colt was quick to capitalise though and even with front pads fitted this time, may still have to play second-fiddle. NELSON EMGE (11) put on a good show to come 2nd to him on that occasion and once again looks a serious podium prospect. Unsupported but placed in both races of reference, NEVER FORGET (10) should not be underestimated for a 3rd time.

C4 – PRIX DU LUXEMBOURG – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Gr3 – Harness – EUR € 100,000 - EAST ASIA – Back in her code of choice after a monte conditioner here 3 weeks ago. Would have finished closer to EXECUTIV EK (4) in Gr.2 Prix Marcel Laurent had she stayed in stride, but with more vigilance can more than make amends
- CASH BANK BIGI – Good 5th behind JINGLE DU PONT (9) in a Class A over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Finds herself in more elevated company this time though and can be passed over
- HANNIBAL TUILERIE – Returns to the harness code following 2 moderate monte efforts. Seldom seen over the distance but is nicely-placed behind the car. In this company though, may struggle to make his mark
- EXECUTIV EK – Has not skipped a beat since returning to France this winter, latterly 3rd in a 2700m Gr.1 for his own age-group. Takes on older horses this time, but has buckets of class and will be expected to contest the finish
- JANGO VICI – Valiant 7th in Prix de Bourgogne before being deserted by Lady Luck in the Belgique. Is plainly in fine shape however and the draw will only work in his favour. Place prospect
- HORCHESTRO – Tough individual that ran excellent 2nd in 2850m Gr.3 Prix Jean Dumouch on 14 December, beating WORKING CLASS HERO (12) among others. Benefits from a decent draw and will not be far off the mark
- HULYSSE DIGEO – Serious type that won a Gr.2 last autumn. Is here for reasons of conditioning though and best to wait
- GENDREEN – Showed marked improvement late last month when 4th in a 2850m Class A here. Takes on a better lot this time but will not have the handicap to consider. Monitor
- JINGLE DU PONT – Superb here this winter until missing the break in Gr.3 Prix du Forez 2 weeks ago. Is plainly better than that and can get in on the action if Nicolas Bazire successfully negotiates the start
- ISOFOU DU CHENE – Good, consistent type that has hardly put a foot wrong recently. 2nd in 2700m Gr.3 Prix du Forez here 2 weeks ago and, while not ideally-drawn, can still figure prominently
- HAMILTON DU HAM – Pleasantly surprised when 3rd in a 2700m Class B here in late-December, however a repeat seems most improbable
- WORKING CLASS HERO – Courageous 5th in 2850m Gr.2 Prix de Belgique on 11 January. Has won 3 of 4 starts over course and distance and even though starting on the 2nd line, can still impose
- KIKA JOSSELYN – Has won 4 of last 5 in the day’s configuration but faces a much stiffer challenge this time and chances limited
- KANTO AVIS – Has so far this winter been biting off more than he can chew, latterly eliminated in Prix de Belgique. Did not win the draw-lottery but with Benjamin Rochard back in the bike should not be entirely overlooked
- CHANCE EK – Unremarkable 7th behind JINGLE DU PONT (9) in a Class A over course and distance 3 weeks ago, and will need to find more in order to make any impression
Summary: Gr.1-placed here last winter, WORKING CLASS HERO (12) just missed out on Prix d’Amérique qualification in the Prix de Belgique a fortnight ago and, despite the draw, is marginally preferred to the better-positioned, but reconfigured, EXECUTIV EK (4) who most recently ran 3rd in the Gr.1 Prix Tenor de Baune. A classy individual with nothing to prove at this level, EAST ASIA (1) has a run under her belt, appreciates 2100m here, and will be shod to preference this time. JANGO VICI (5) was most unlucky in the Belgique and will be barefoot this time. HORCHESTRO (6) reassured in the Gr.3 Prix Jean Dumouch last month and must be afforded respect.
SELECTIONS
WORKING CLASS HERO (12) – EXECUTIV EK (4) – EAST ASIA (1) – JANGO VICI (5)
C5 – PRIX DE VITTEL – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 68,000 - CHESTNUT (SWE) – Ran 4th in a Class C over track and trip on 24 December before blowing up over shorter behind FORREST GUMP SET (8) mid-month. Has yet to let the side down over these longer trips here though and can be brought back into the fold. Place chance
- HERMES D’ECROVILLE – Produced a pair of good runs in the provinces before being trounced by HALL BLACK MESS (13) in a 2850m Class C here on New year’s Day. Has placed just once in 5 starts over 2700m here and is unlikely to spice things up
- BAYARD (GER) – Is back barefoot after prepping at home in Germany and will be reunited with Matthieu Abrivard who won smartly with him here in November. Placed on lone appearance over 2700m here and is unlikely to disappoint this time either
- GRAZIELA D’EL – Somewhat complicated but tends to go well for David Thomain and will be no shrinking violet if kept focused. First 5
- NICE PRESENT – Unexceptional trotter that has done nothing of note in either start here this winter, but does present respectable course-and-distance credentials, and will have his supporters
- GOLD D’ECROVILLE – Previously a good sort but has been off the boil for some time and can be confidently ruled out
- HOMARD LAND – Seen more often in the provinces but is as tough as they come. Entrusted to the champion jockey for the occasion and is in with a realistic shout of opening his 2026 account
- FORREST GUMP SET – Got back in the game over 2100m here just 9 days ago, beating a number of these into the bargain. Runner-up in both starts over 2700m here and will be justifiably well-backed
- HOLD UP RANAIS – Useful sort that should not be too quickly-judged for latest efforts, most recently suffering interference in 15 January race of reference. Has decent form with Benjamin Rochard and can start to come good again
- GLAMOUR YOMA – Has been an absolute write-off at Vincennes this winter and racing shod will not help his cause
- HELIOS D’ELA – Handy type with just the one race in him since his 5 months’ break. Is competitively-shod for Vincennes debut, has been entrusted to Alexandre Abrivard for the occasion, but still not a priority
- GREG DE NIRO – Starts for another new trainer after winning a claimer here 10 days ago, but in this company has no possible chance
- HALL BLACK MESS – Comfortable winner of a Cagnes Class D before repeating with ease early this month in a 2850m Class C here. Is patently at the top of his game and the 3-timer is well within his reach
- GAGNEUR – Failed to confirm Lyon-Parilly performance when well-beaten in a Pontchateau Class D on 21 December. Races shod this time and will have nothing to offer
- HAWAI RIVER – Back under harness after failing to fire under the saddle here on 13 December, and will have other ambitions
- FLYING BRICKELL – Ran 7th to GREG DE NIRO (12) in a 2850m claimer here 10 days ago and even with Mathieu Mottier in the bike can be ignored
Summary: Unseen at Vincennes since running 4th in a similar event in 2023, HOMARD LAND (7) returns to the venue in cracking form, with Eric Raffin in the bike for the first time, and a realistic chance of winning this. He will nevertheless face stiff resistance from the reinvigorated and reconfigured HALL BLACK MESS (13) who bids for a well-deserved hat-trick. The good Swedish CHESTNUT (SWE) (1) has solid references under these conditions and should not be too hastily-judged for his latest run. FORREST GUMP SET (8) simply thrives over 2700m here and beat his nordic rival that day.

C6 – PRIX OURASI – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr1 – Harness – EUR € 300,000 - GINGER GIO – Won Gr.3 Prix de Mansle here on 13 December but made no impact in Gr.2 Prix Bellino II a fortnight ago and is not about to set off any fireworks
- MAESTRO VRIE – Takes a hike in class after running close 2nd to GOLDEN GIO (4) in a Gr.3 over course and distance on Christmas Day. Unlikely to prove dangerous but has been freshly configured and should hold his own
- MORALITY – Unthreatening 6th to GUGLIELMO JET (7) in Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin over course and distance on 4 January, and has little chance of making her mark
- GOLDEN GIO – Tricky Italian import but has a particular liking for Vincennes conditions. Put in a good time here on 25 December and, competitively-shod on this occasion, is a serious proposition
- MAGNUM DU CHOQUEL – 5th in Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin over course and distance on 4 January. Faces a much stiffer test this time and has no realistic chance
- MADRID HAUFOR – Improved on Prix de l’Etoile effort when 2nd to GUGLIELMO JET (7) in Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin over course and distance on 4 January. Is not about to spring a surprise but is unlikely to go home empty-handed either
- GUGLIELMO JET – Excellent 2nd to MACK DE BLARY (11) in Gr.1 Prix de l’Etoile before romping in Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin over course and distance on 4 January. Is barefoot again but looks more a first-5 chance this time
- GABRIOZ – Has done little of note since beating GINOSTRABLIGGI (12) in Gr.1 Derby Italiano in October, and will need to show marked improvement on Prix Charles Tiercelin effort
- MILLE ETOILES – Has not got her nose in front since winning Gr.1 Prix Albert Viel here last June. Reassured in Gr.2 Prix Charles Tiercelin but still looks a minor place chance at best
- MAGIC NIGHT – Classy filly with an already exceptional CV. Impressive in Critérium des 3 Ans against the boys, only to be disqualified. Will be competitively-shod for first time and is not one to be underestimated
- MACK DE BLARY – Turned the tables on GINOSTRABLIGGI (12) in Gr.1 Prix de l’Etoile here early last month. Is set to do battle with him again, over a distance they both appreciate, and going barefoot for the first time could make all the difference
- GINOSTRABLIGGI – Ran 4th to MACK DE BLARY (11) in 2100m Gr.1 Prix de l’Etoile here on 7 December despite not being at his best. Had beaten him hands-down 3 weeks earlier and has the wherewithal to do so again
Summary: High-class Italian import, GINOSTRABLIGGI (12) won the Gr.2 Prix Pierre Plazen on his first French start for Philippe Allaire, dominating generational leader MACK DE BLARY (11). Thierry Duvaldestin’s colt exacted revenge in the Gr.1 Prix de l’Etoile 3 weeks later, but both have been reconfigured, and a marginal preference just goes to the Derby Italiano runner-up. A first-rate colt that has yet to be beaten over the main track, GOLDEN GIO (4) is similarly unbeaten for Matthieu Abrivard, and the new configuration will only work to their advantage. Allaire’s second runner, MAGIC NIGHT (10) takes on the colts this time, but is on a hat-trick of Gr.2 victories and also sports modified shoeing.

C7 – PRIX VARENNE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - LADY DE VANDEL – Good class of mare making first appearance since July. Has imposed under these conditions but may just need the race
- LADY DES ARRIS – Complicated mare starting for first time since finishing unplaced in a 2175m Class D here on 13 December and is not about to spring any surprises
- LA DAME DE COEUR – Quality element but has not raced since 19 October and with shoes fitted will have nothing to contribute
- LUCIOLE DU VERTAIN – Not devoid of ability but has looked very ordinary so far this term and can be ignored
- LEGENDE DE NILREM – Excellent in 2 starts here before the turn of the year. Lacklustre though behind LATIKA BELLA (9) in a 2100m Class D here on 13 January, and looks a minor place chance at best
- LA VISTA HAUFOR – Has not won for over 13 months and is unlikely to now either, but ran 4th, a place behind LATIKA BELLA (9), in a 2100m Class D here on 13 January. Has ground to make up but form is not in question and can compete for a first-5 payout
- L’ETOILE – Will be shod to preference after last month’s freshener here. Has never excelled over 2700m but is seldom far from the action and should not be ruled out
- LYANA D’ARC – Useful mare that is consistently in the thick of things and has form here. Is unlikely to get her nose in front but can still challenge for a place in the picture
- LATIKA BELLA – Has done everything right so far this winter, most recently missing out on the double in a 2100m Class D here 11 days ago. Has shown a different side since starting to run barefoot and the race is hers for the taking
- LATINA QUICK – Takes a dip in category after losing her action in a Class C under these conditions late last month. Has otherwise been firing on all cylinders and with application will be no pushover
- LESTANCIA BELLA – Made up for a bad trip behind LATINA QUICK (10) here in early-December when dominating a Bordeaux Class D, when shod, later in the month. Sports a fresh configuration and has a reasonable chance of confirming
- LILIE D’OMAHA – Courageous winner of a 2100m Class D here on 5 December. Failed to confirm in better company next time, but trainer back in the bike and can begin to put things right
- LOLA DU CAMPUS – 4th in a Class B over course and distance last autumn but has been disappointing since. Pleased on sole start in the day’s configuration but still has more to find
- LILY DE L’AUNAY – Has evident ability but is as tricky as they come. 6th in 31 December race of reference and is unlikely to create an upset
Summary: A fine mare with a superb Vincennes record, LATIKA BELLA (9) may have failed to deliver on her only appearance over 2700m here, but she has subsequently made up for it, and has a realistic claim on the prize. Stablemate LATINA QUICK (10) is another serious mare and will be reined by Eric Raffin for the first time, but she may first have to see off the in-form LESTANCIA BELLA (11) who sports 4 pads for the first time. LYANA D’ARC (8) always gives everything she has and looks next best.

C8 – PRIX BOLD EAGLE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr1 – Harness – EUR € 300,000 - FERAHAN AS – Faces first objective of the winter after 3 conditioners. Is barefoot this time but has not done enough to warrant much support
- LARA DU GOUTIER – No slouch on a good day but below-par in last 2 and will have her work cut out
- FAR WEST BI – Ran 7th in Gr.2 Prix de Croix here on Vincennes bow 2 weeks ago, and is unlikely to improve on that
- FELLOW WISE AS – Eliminated early in a Gr.3 under these conditions last weekend. Has imposed just once since moving to France and is not about to extend that number
- LIBERTE DE CHOISEL – Outran LIZA JOSSELYN (12) to win Gr.2 Prix Ariste Hémard over course and distance early last month. Unlucky next time but nevertheless embarks on her Gr.1 quest with a good hand to play
- LORD DU GERS – Made up for New Year’s Day elimination when 2nd in a Gr.3 over course and distance last Sunday. Completely unshod this time, Eric Raffin maintains faith, and with application is unlikely to disappoint
- LEARN TO FLY – Ran 6th in Criterium Continental at 182-1 before being conditioned in Gr.3 Prix de Croix. Is shod for business this time and is not incapable of making first 5
- LUCIANO MENUET – Returns to racing shod to preference after running last but one to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in 2850m Gr.2 Prix de Croix here 2 weeks ago. Is never easy to gauge but it is only a matter of time before he gets back in the game
- PHANTOM EXPRESS – Put in a decent showing to run 5th to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in Gr.2 Prix de Croix here a fortnight back. Will be shod as he was that day and can repeat
- FREE TIME JEPSON – Eliminated early in Criterium Continental before running 2nd in a Cagnes Gr.3 2.5 weeks ago. Has serious form in Sweden and going barefoot this time should not be written off
- L’ECRIN D’OR – Classy element racing here for a change of scenery. Preparing for return to the monte code and can be passed over
- LIZA JOSSELYN – Current leader of her generation and has done everything right this winter. Barefoot as she was when winning the Criterium Continental and even in the absence of JMB again, can make this her own
- LOMBOK JIEL – Generous individual in a high-class generation. Left a fine impression behind LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in the Prix de Croix and, in similar form, could yet give her a run for her money
Summary: LIZA JOSSELYN (12) earned the right to run the Prix d’Amerique after her superb Critérium Continental success but JMB has opted to keep her racing against her contemporaries, obviously with a view to the future, and barefoot this time she should logically take all the beating. The only horse here richer than her, LOMBOK JIEL (13) missed out by little to her in the Gr.2 Prix de Croix, will be barefoot this time, and again looks the main danger. Convincing winner of the Gr.2 Prix Ariste Hémard, LIBERTE DE CHOISEL (5) was unable to confirm against the boys next time after enduring a tough trip, but Anthony Barrier will be eager to put things right. Admirable runner-up in a Gr.3 last weekend, LORD DU GERS (6) is also barefoot and will be no easy touch if Eric Raffin keeps him focused.

C9 – COUPE INTERCONTINENTALE DES AMATEURS – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class F Amateur Drivers – Harness – EUR € 15,000 - HAMPTON DU VIVIER – Has yet to deliver in this category but caught the eye behind HYPERION DU BOCAGE (4) here on 28 December and, if kept trotting, can play a prominent part
- GENIALISSIME – Hardy sort that has never disappointed over the Vincennes main track. Is confirmed in the amateur division, goes barefoot for first objective of the winter, and from the front line can pick up some prizemoney
- IDEAL DU DIGEON – Should not be condemned for not delivering in a similar race over 2850m here 2 weeks ago. Sophie Blanchetière takes over in the bike and will afford him every chance
- HYPERION DU BOCAGE – Ran 3rd in a similar event over 2100m in late December before being eliminated a fortnight later. Form is not in question and will have a leading role to play if his driver keeps him focused
- HOTOT – Unremarkable trotter that has not been seen out since early-October. Has been reconfigured for comeback but still not a priority
- JAVA DU CHERISAY – Won on amateur debut last April but below-par in 3 amateur starts since. Will be competitively-shod following her Bordeaux conditioner, but represents no more than a minor place chance
- HEIDI DU BISET – Honest mare that has raced just once at this level but has nevertheless been showing her form and looks competitive for a place in the frame
- GERONIMO STARDUST – Has been completely out of sorts in both codes this term and needs to get his house in order
- INSTAGRAM – Modest trotter that has made no impact on the game since summer 2024 and is not about to change his ways
- GALTON SAINT BAR – Not disgraced last time at this level but has little going for him this time and can be ruled out
- IOUP LA BOUM – Has been a veritable write-off since autumn 2024 and can be confidently disregarded
- JAWAX DE KERYANN – Stormed up in a 2850m amateurs class F here on 14 January. Forced to break on 2nd row this time but is still the pick of the field
- FINGALO – Useful Belgian veteran that has placed in 2 of 3 Vincennes starts, both in the amateur category. Has been in fine condition at home, has been reconfigured for the occasion, and despite the draw is worth keeping an eye on
- IL MIO – Won an amateurs Class G at Mauquenchy in late-November but failed to confirm in 2 subsequent runs and with shoes on will have few friends
Summary: Unbeaten in 2 amateur starts, both of them at Vincennes, JAWAX DE KERYANN (12) encountered no resistance here 10 days ago and, back-row starter or not, he still looks the one to beat. HYPERION DU BOCAGE (4) has similarly not failed to deliver in 2 amateur starts here and enjoys a better spot on the front line. HEIDI DU BISET (7) made up for her Cabourg elimination when runner-up at Argentan, and looks a player on her Vincennes bow. HAMPTON DU VIVIER (1) left a good impression here late last month before being eliminated and with application could pleasantly surprise.

C10 – PRIX DE CHALONS EN CHAMPAGNE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - MONEY SHARK – Complicated filly but has evident ability. Faces a stiffer test this time around though and with shoes on is unlikely to spice things up
- TROTTER PAVILLON – Crosses into France for the first time having placed in last 3 starts in Mons. Is first-time barefoot, with Paul Ploquin reining, but appears to be taking on too much
- TI AMO VIKTORY – Undefeated in 6 starts at home in Belgium. Has won from 2300m to 2840m but has not been seen out since August and represents more a minor place prospect this time
- HOWINGS ELLY – Useful filly that left a good impression at Jagersro on comeback on 16 December. Is first-time barefoot for French bow, with Franck Nivard reining, and can pick up some prizeemoney
- PEBBLES NEWPORT – Well-travelled filly that finished an unthreatening 4th of 6 in a Victoria Park Gr.2 in mid-November. Unraced since though and even with shoes off still looks an outsider
- GITANA FLAMENCO – Wonderfully-consistent transalpine raider that has been going well at San Siro lately. Takes on a better lot this time but still looks capable of getting in on the action
- MILADY DE MONTCEAU – Unexceptional sort with a modest Vincennes record and is unlikely to influence the outcome
- GESTODAMORE ROSA – Not easy to handle but has been acquitting herself well at home in Italy. Champion driver at the helm this time and should by no means be underestimated
- STONEHILLPEARL – Fine Italian raider aiming to conquer Vincennes after sweeping aside all before her at home, and looks eminently capable of pulling off the first target
- MIA DE SIMM – Can trot but reliability not her strong suit. Sports front pads for first time, is confirmed with her driver, but still not a contender
- MOOVIESTAR SOMOLLI – Has shown improvement recently, latterly 2nd in a Class E over course and distance on 29 December. Hind shoes off for the occasion but in this category will have too much to do
- MARIYA HAUFOR – Met little opposition in a 2850m Class E over the inner course on 25 December. Has bags of untapped potential, should take well to the main-track profile, and can give STONEHILLPEARL (9) a run for her money
- GRACE KELLY HP – Has turned a corner lately and has done enough to take her chances in France. Benjamin Rochard in the bike this time and will be looking to capitalise on the engagement
Summary: There are just 4 French-trained horses in the field and the foreigners do indeed appear to have the upper hand. Alessandro Gocciadoro debuts his unbeaten STONEHILLPEARL (9) on French soil after 7 straight victories. Like others here, he has no references over the trip but is first-time barefoot and easy to fancy for the win. It’s unlikely to be all plain sailing though if the freshly-configured MARIYA HAUFOR (12) takes to the main track as well as she did to the inner course on Christmas Day. Nicely-entered and clearly in excellent shape, GRACE KELLY HP (13) takes her first steps on French soil and will be barefoot for the occasion. GESTODAMORE ROSA (8) has shown significant promise at home in Italy and Eric Raffin gets the nod.
