R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX DU CANTAL – 2850m (a2m) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 59,000
- HIATUS – Won a claimer here on 22 January but was trounced 2 weeks later in a 2100m Class D here, and will have nothing to offer
- GLOUGLOU D’EMI – Sprang a surprise at Lisieux in November but has made no impact in 3 starts since and can be ruled out
- FLAMBEUR DU DIGEON – Has not been seen out since failing to deliver under the saddle here 2 months ago. Has little love for these conditions and even with Eric Raffin in the bike, looks an outsider
- GALEO D’AMARO – Has done nothing noteworthy for some time but makes first appearance for new stable and the choice of driver speaks volumes. Attention
- HIGOR DAIRPET – Quite clearly capable but went into his break on a low note and will be fitted with pads for return. Disregard
- GOODMORNING CHARLY – Would have finished better than 5th, a place behind FOREVER D’ARIANE (8), in a 2700m Class D here on 27 December, had he been afforded a better trip. Subsequently ran 3rd at Agen, is barefoot this time, and must be respected
- FRANCO FLEURI – In the frame in 2 of last 3, latterly 3rd behind FOREVER D’ARIANE (8) in a Nantes Class E late last month. Confirmation, however, seems unlikely
- FOREVER D’ARIANE – Has hardly put a foot wrong since the autumn, most recently running good 2nd in a Nantes Class E late last month. Is unlikely to create an upset but can still vie for a spot in first 5
- HELIOS DES CHAMPS – Gave a good account at Cordemais before being eliminated in a Class D here a fortnight ago, and is not about to create an upset
- HADRIEN – Raced little last year, with no results under harness. Is new to 2850m here and would arguably have better prospects in the other code
- FUCHSIA DU RIB – Has so far failed to live up to expectations this winter, but races barefoot, with Alexandre Abrivard reining, and will have his supporters
- HERAKLION – Pleasant on re-entry at Cagnes-sur-Mer earlier this month following a short spell. Will be barefoot, with Alexis Collette in the bike this time, and cannot be discounted
- HAUTAIN – Enjoyed a fruitful summer but subsequently went off the boil and will first need to re-establish his credentials
- GALINETTE BLEUE – Not always the most reliable but gave a fine account under similar conditions in the autumn, and enjoys a terrific entry here. Has a race under her belt and, reunited with Gabriele Gelormini, can get straight down to business
- GUESS FOUTEAU – In the frame in last 2 starts here, including over course and distance. Has been a bit of a handful lately but will have her chances if Franck Nivard keeps her mind on the game
- GOELAND DE JANZE – Capricious but has ample ability and caught the eye last time out. In the frame in all 3 runs with his driver and Charles-Antoine Mary could not have wished for a better entry
Summary: Easy to like when barefoot and focused, GALINETTE BLEUE (14) faces her first objective of the new year and given how well she comported herself in a similar race last time here, it would be no surprise to see her win this. Even better-engaged, GOELAND DE JANZE (16) is not easy to handle but he left a very good impression here mid-January and, with application, can play a leading role. Nicely in here, GUESS FOUTEAU (15) ran 2nd last time under these conditions, is barefoot for the occasion, and Franck Nivard will be back in the bike. GALEO D’AMARO (4) makes his first start for the able Pierre-Louis Desaunette and, with Mathieu Mottier reining, can make a big splash. GOODMORNING CHARLY (6) returns to Paris after having reassured at Agen and is unlikely to be heading back to the southwest empty-handed.

C2 – PRIX DE PONTAULT-COMBAULT – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - MARGOT DE BETAN – Is confirmed over main track in the other code but, in this company, seems to be taking on too much, barefoot or not
- MOON LIGHT RIVER – Made up for Christmas Eve elimination when 4th, a place behind MAIWENN D’AVEL (11), in a Class D under these conditions on 1 February. Front shoes off for first time and will garner a little more support on this occasion
- MALICE SPEED – Has yet to make her mark here this term but will go barefoot for the first time and is not to be underestimated
- MELLYNGA – Has failed to deliver since being moved up in category. Hind shoes off for first time but still not a concern
- MOONSTAR JYL – Eliminated as often as not but made short work of a Class E over course and distance on 1 February. Eric Raffin in the bike this time and can wrap this up if he manages to keep his filly trotting
- MULANE DU BOCAGE – Showed early promise but has not delivered this winter and would be preferred on a more even surface
- MADE IN ATALANTE – Moderate sort that has looked very ordinary for past 2 months. Returns to racing shod and is unlikely to have many friends
- MOLLY WHITE – Gave a good account on return to competition late last month. Goes barefoot again, with Alexandre Abrivard in the bike, and will legitimately garner support
- MEGAFLECHE – Failed to deliver here on 13 January but has nevertheless placed twice in last 3 starts, and Theo Duvaldestin will be keen to set the record straight
- MUSICA JULMA – Respectable filly but has yet to get off the mark. Was not disgraced here last week, will have come on for the run, and can get a look in
- MAIWENN D’AVEL – 2nd over the short course on Christmas Day, then stayed on well to run 3rd in a Class D over course and distance on 1 February. Reconfigured for the occasion and will be no easy touch
- MALINE DES ARRIS – Complicated sort that would have comfortably taken 2nd place in a Class D over track and trip on 1 February had she not lost her action, and Yoann Lebourgeois will be determined to put things right
- MARELLA DALEO – Takes a notable hike in category after pleasing in a pair of claimers. Sports pads for the first time but others still preferred
- MEGANE DE CERISY – 5th behind MAIWENN D’AVEL (11) in a Class D under these conditions on 1 February. Races barefoot for the first time and in the hands of Matthieu Abrivard will be one to watch
Summary: She is still a bit green but MOONSTAR JYL (5) ran rings around the opposition here early this month and, on good behaviour, can confirm. MEGAFLECHE (9) has similarly shown a lot of promise and, after reassuring at Nantes, will endeavour to make up for last month’s elimination here. MAIWENN D’AVEL (11) gave a very good account on her main-track bow earlier in the month and will be more competitively-shod this time around. MALINE DES ARRIS (12) put on quite the show here recently and, with application, is unlikely to be far from the action.

C3 – PRIX D’ALBERTVILLE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 41,000 - KUZA DU BOUILLON – Sprang a 65-1 surprise when 2nd in an incident-filled Argentan Class F a fortnight ago, and confirmation is most improbable
- NAIKEY – Won 2 in a row in Gelsenkirchen before running 4th in a Class D over the inner course a month back. Mathieu Mottier in the bike again and will be expected to finish closer this time
- ETOILE DU OZ – Ran 3rd, at 36-1, in a monte Class E over track and trip late last month, but has no possible chance this time
- KALMIA BOSS – Makes first appearance since winning a Caen Class F in mid-November, but will be barefoot for comeback and has a reasonable chance of getting in on the action. First 5
- KAROLINA DI SEMBLE – Somewhat reassuring 5th in a Pontchateau Class F last Sunday, but has little love for the Vincennes main track and can be ruled out
- KAMELIYA – As difficult as they get but has buckets of ability at this level. Tends to go well for her driver and, on good behaviour, can trot her way back into the winners’ enclosure
- ESEDOMANI – Came good 4th in a similar contest here on 15 January. Went on to run well at San Siro and is back in France with a leading role to play
- KIM DE BEAUM – Ran decent 5th at Nantes prior to coming 2nd in an Angers Class F on 7 February. Is clearly in decent shape though and, in this company, looks a player
- KLOE D’ARRY – Sports a fresh configuration after having run 5th of 15 in a 2850m Class E here on 28 December. Is not about to win this but still has the wherewithal to finish in the mix
- KRYSTA DE KERYANN – Ran 2nd over course and distance on Christmas Eve but was found wanting behind NAIKEY (2) next time and others easier to back
- KONSTANCIA D’OYSE – Is nicely-engaged here but has been struggling for some time and is unlikely to spring any surprises
Summary: The phrase ‘all-or-nothing’ could well have been coined for the likes of KAMELIYA (6) who is an absolute cracker when focused. She races with pads for the occasion, has won 3 times with Eric Raffin, and with application can make it 4. ESEDOMANI (7) gave a fine account here in mid-January and returns to Paris with hind shoes off and Gabriele Gelormini in the bike. Quality German mare, NAIKEY (2), left a good impression over the short course a month ago and will be no easy touch if she copes with the main track profile. KIM DE BEAUM (8) has not won since November 2023 but she has shown a return to form and warrants respect.

C4 – PRIX DE GRAIGNES – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 38,000 - NABUCCO DE RIVIERE – Qualified in 1’19’9 at Caen on 21 October. Sports front pads first time out but still not an obvious choice
- NEW YORK D’OYSE – Back under harness after being eliminated in the other code here last week, but will have other ambitions
- NEMO DE BEYLEV – Makes first appearance for new yard after having been bought out of a claimer here a month back. Front pads fitted this time and despite the hike in category cannot be ruled out
- NOCTURNUS AVIS – Facile winner of a 2700m Graignes Class E on debut 2.5 weeks ago. Will have progressed for the race and has a realistic chance of confirming
- NORBERT DE GACHERE – Got off the mark on 25 January when dominating a 2275m Nantes Class F. Meets a stiffer challenge this time but still looks a player
- NIMEO FLOWER – Returns to Vincennes after running flattering 3rd in a Cagnes Class D earlier this month. Is unlikely to shake things up but can still make his presence felt
- NEMROD BUROIS – Would have defied his odds of 31-1 had he been afforded a run over the short course on 29 January. 4 pads fitted for the first time and Benoit Robin will be legitimately hopeful of putting things right
- NIMITZ D’HERIPRE – Has not been seen out since running 2nd in a Bordeaux Class B on 22 December, but has shown significant potential and does not make the trip from the southeast for nothing. Chance
- NAOS DES MARETTES – Showed improvement over the main track mid-January, and would have picked up a cheque 2 weeks later had he stayed in stride. Is no champion but on good behaviour can make first 5
Summary: Solid in qualification last summer, NOCTURNUS AVIS (4) ran out an easy winner on debut earlier in the month and with Yoann Lebourgeois back in the bike will be given every chance of repeating. He will be justifiably mindful though of the returning, but promising, NIMITZ D’HERIPRE (8) who has been entrusted to Mathieu Mottier for his Vincennes bow, and a reconfigured NEMROD BUROIS (7) who was unable to express himself here 3 weeks ago. Stylish winner at Nantes when losing his maiden tag, NORBERT DE GACHERE (5) takes the logical next step and will be entrusted to Anthony Barrier.

C5 – PRIX DE MARCENAT – 2850m (a2m) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 46,000 - LE BARON BEZILLAT – Returns to Paris following a modest return run at Maure-de-Bretagne earlier in the month. Barefoot this time but still not a concern
- LET IT SNOW – In the frame in all 4 starts here this winter, most recently 3rd to LOYAL DU CHOQUEL (10) in a 2700m Class D here on 7 February. Is clearly up to the challenge and winning this would be just reward
- LUCIFER DU CAIEU – Pleasant in all 3 starts since the turn of the year but in this grade of race will have a lot more to find
- LE MAESTRO – Reliability not his strong suit but can trot. At this level of competition though, may find the going a bit tough
- LEXCELLENT DU METZ – Hardy element making first start since placing here mid-November. Is barefoot straight away though and can get in on the action if he takes to 2850m of the main track
- LOCO FLIGNY – Won a Class D here in November but has been disappointing in 3 since and will first need to re-establish his credentials
- LEZZO FIGHTER – Returns to racing competitively-shod after being conditioned in a Class B over course and distance a fortnight ago. Has talent in spades and cannot be ignored
- LE GRAAL – Returned to competition last month after 15 months on the sidelines. Is plainly being conditioned and can be passed over
- LENNON D’HERFRAIE – Was going strong in a 2700m Class B here on 22 January before hitting traffic problems. Is reunited with Mathieu Mottier who won with him last season, and if still on the boil, can make amends and impose
- LOYAL DU CHOQUEL – Fine campaigner that made no bones about winning a 2700m Class D here on 7 February. Has earned the right to move up the category-ladder and is very easy to recommend for a place on the podium
- LAUSSAC DU BUISSON – Made up for Christmas Day elimination when storming up in a 2100m Class D here on 25 January. Takes on a tougher bunch this time but is still game for a first-5 payout
- LOVER JULMA – Rather complicated but is no slouch when focused. Somewhat unlucky in a Class C here 2.5 weeks ago but is reunited with Matthieu Abrivard, for whom he has never failed to fire, and is worth keeping an eye on
Summary: Solid in both codes recently, LENNON D’HERFRAIE (9) was very unlucky not to be afforded a run here last month, but showed his form nevertheless, and can win this if Mathieu Mottier keeps him out of trouble. LET IT SNOW (2) has been knocking at the door all winter and it will not be long before he gets his nose back in front. LOYAL DU CHOQUEL (10) beat him 12 days ago when opening his Vincennes account and will need to be taken more seriously this time. LEZZO FIGHTER (7) is significantly better than recent results would suggest, is reconfigured for the occasion, and it is only a question of time before he comes good again.

C6 – PRIX DE VOUZIERS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 41,000 - JOY CAPTAIN – Got the year off to a good start when 2nd in a Mauquenchy Class F just under a month ago. Appears to have recuperated well from her long absence and looks capable of making first 5
- JAVA DES AUGERIES – Enjoys decent Vincennes references but has been off the boil over recent months and appears to have no possible chance
- JUDICIEUSE ZAILER – Has been very disappointing since last September. Returns to racing shod and can be confidently ruled out
- JENKA DE MORMOULIN – Has ample ability but lost her way last summer. Has just the one race in her since the break and must first reaffirm
- JALAYA DES BROUETS – Useful element but is still in conditioning-mode following her layoff and best to leave alone
- JAMAIQUE DE HOERDT – Has been enjoying good form in both codes recently, but is not the biggest Vincennes fan and, even though reconfigured, is still an outsider
- JOYCE PILE – Honest mare making Vincennes debut after running surprise 2nd in a Graignes Class F 10 days ago. Is not a priority but always gives her best and will be interesting to watch
- JICKY GIRL – Produced a small surprise when 3rd in a 2050m Class F at Lyon-La Soie 3 weeks ago. Is unlikely to shake things up with 4 pads fitted but should not be written off either
- JULIANA BREIL – Good dual-discipline mare returning to the harness code in fine fettle. Has never disappointed for her driver and has a realistic shot at doubling her money
- JOSY DES LANDES – Imposed at Challans at 44-1 on 21 December, then repeated at Challans early-February. Will be competitively-shod for the occasion and is easy to recommend for a place in the frame
- JOLISSIME ELDE – Useful trotter that seldom lets the side down when focused. Left a good impression on re-entry at Saint-Galmier and although unlikely to set off any fireworks, is still worth retaining
- JEUNE ORANGE COTON – Won over course and distance in November but eliminated in next 3 starts. Reverts to racing with 4 pads and will be no easy touch if Antonin Andre manages to keep her focused
- JAHINA VITA – Has shown considerable aptitude when racing unshod-behind, is plainly in excellent shape, and can be backed with confidence this time. Place chance
- JONGLEUSE DE BRY – Had a recce, shod, here on 21 December, the ran 2 superb races on the Riviera. Is plainly firing on all cylinders and, with form maintained, will not be easy to beat
Summary: A fine campaigner with an enviable strike-rate, JONGLEUSE DE BRY (14) returns to the capital after dominating a Cagnes Class E last month and, in similar form, has every chance of repeating. Winner under the saddle in late-December, JULIANA BREIL (9) will be reunited with Eric Raffin, with whom she thrives, and can again contest the finish. JOSY DES LANDES (10) has earned the right to race here after winning a pair in the provinces and will sport a new formula for the occasion. JAHINA VITA (13) has never disappointed in the day’s configuration and should logically put her recent performance behind her.

C7 – PRIX DE MORTAGNE – 2850m (a2m) – Class C – Mounted – EUR € 46,000 - FRENCIS ZL – Useful Italian element that was eliminated on monte debut in late-December, but chances still limited
- LEON DE LA COURBE – Has been pleasing for the most part under the saddle recently but at this level will have too much to do
- LION DES ISLES – Has taken particularly well to the monte code, finishing runner-up in both starts to date, most recently a 2175m Class D here earlier in the month. Is unlikely to get his nose in front but can still pick up some prizemoney
- LEADER DE SEVRE – Came last of 6 finishers in 31 January race of reference. Will be barefoot this time though and should not be discounted
- ONANA BOKO – Useful sort that was eliminated on monte debut when full of running, but made amends on 31 January when 3rd, a place behind LITTLELOU MATIDY (12), in a 2700m Class D here. Place chance
- LABEL DE LARRE – Has done nothing of note in either code since imposing at Enghien 11 months ago and is unlikely to generate much interest
- LILIUS DE GUEZ – Serious sort in this branch of the business. Was never at his ease in 31 January race of reference, but is clearly in shape, and Eric Raffin will be determined to set the record straight
- LUXUEUSE DANICA – Honest mare that ran 3rd at Nantes prior to coming 4th behind LITTLELOU MATIDY (12) in a 2700m Class D here in late-January. Is unlikely to finish as close this time but can nevertheless hold her own
- LOTI SOLO – It took since May 2024 but got back in the winners’ circle at Nantes mid-January. Faces a tougher lot this time but should nevertheless acquit himself competitively
- LENSOIS DU DOLLAR – Won a Class D here on Christmas Eve but failed to confirm in better company a month back and is unlikely to influence the result
- LUCIA DI JENILAT – Respectable mare that was eliminated in a Class C here early last month. Has form at this level but on this occasion seems to be out of her depth
- LITTLELOU MATIDY – Never far from losing her action but showed courage to come 2nd in a 2700m Class D here late last month. Has barefoot form here and, if applied, is unlikely to disappoint
- LOVE AND SUN – Has been eased gently back into racing following a lengthy hiatus. Is top-tier material, is clearly in competition-mode, and can make this his own
- LUIGI D’ISIGNY – Serious type making first appearance since last May. Has nothing to prove at this level, is barefoot for comeback, and enjoys a good partnership with Mathieu Mottier. Chance
Summary: Earnings seem to carry considerable weight in this affair. In the case of LOVE AND SUN (13), he is most certainly behind in earnings, boasts serious monte aptitude, and will be competitively-shod for his first objective for some time. Alexandre Abrivard will still be wary of the tricky but talented, and returning, LUIGI D’ISIGNY (14) who is only 220 Euros from elimination, and the the justifiably well-regarded, and barefoot, LITTLELOU MATIDY (12) who defied her odds here late last month. A place behind her that day, ONANA BOKO (5) may just have discovered his new vocation.

C8 – PRIX DE BLAIN-BOUVRON-LE GAVRE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class A – Harness – EUR € 62,000 - MUST DE CHANLECY – Useful dual-discipline sort that ran 4th in a 2700m Class A here on 25 January. Forced to start on the inside but form is not in question and deserves to be taken seriously
- MENTOR DE PLAY – It took 18 starts but he flew up in a 2700m Class B here on 1 February. Goes barefoot again and from the 2-spot can again finish in the mix
- MOHAWK – Never far from faulting but was simply superb in a Class B over course and distance on 18 January. Is nicely-placed once more and should again finish close
- MILAN – Nicely-engaged and nicely-placed for first objective of the new year. Has previously won at this level and is not incapable of repeating
- MELIA BARBES – Good class of filly that has not once tasted defeat over the main track, and was particularly impressive over 2700m earlier in the month. Is head and shoulders better than the field and will be expected to prove the point
- MONTEQUILLO – Useful colt starting for the first time since early-November but is likely to be a race shy
- MY SAVE QUICK – Got off the mark in a 2175m Class C here last week, on first barefoot outing. Shoes off again and although unlikely to confirm, can nevertheless play a small role
- MARION D’ATOUT – No slouch on a good day but is not the easiest of horses to use and even with hind shoes off this time, still seems to have too much to find
- MOONWALK D’HERIPRE – Sent for a spell after being eliminated in a Gr.3 here in late-November. Is competitively-shod for re-entry though and, already a winner here, can play a prominent role
- MAESTRO DE L’AUMOY – Showed considerable talent last season and has demonstrated decent speed. Is barefoot for first start since last August but is still going to need the run
- MY DARLING DU RIS – Serious filly stepping up in category after running 2nd in a Class B under these conditions a month ago. Steps up in category, and starts on the back row, but cannot be discounted
- MIDNIGHT EXPRESS – Well-regarded at home but has failed to deliver so far this term and even though reconfigured, will struggle to make her mark
- MARILYN MONROE – Ran 3rd in a Cagnes Class B before coming 4th in a 2700m Class A here on 25 January. Takes on the boys this time though and is unlikely to spice things up
- MY QUALITA PIYA – Made no impact whatsoever in a 2700m Class A here on 25 January and will need to show marked improvement
Summary: Undefeated in 3 Vincennes appearances, MELIA BARBES (5) encountered little resistance in a Class B here earlier in the month and is ideally-positioned to extend her unbeaten streak. David Thomain will still be keeping a keen eye on the complicated but talented MOHAWK (3) who easily dominated a Class B here a month ago, and MILAN (4) who will be first-time barefoot following his late-December comeback run. Four times a winner last season, all with Eric Raffin, MOONWALK D’HERIPRE (9) has been configured for the occasion and, despite the draw, still looks competitive for a cheque.
