French Selections Friday 20th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX DE SAINT-CALAIS – 2850m (a2m) – Class G Amateur Drivers – Harness – EUR € 12,000

  1. JUSTINE DU MESNIL – Has returned to productive ways since starting to race at this level. In the frame in last 3 but in this company will have her work cut out
  2. JULIANA SPIRIT – Returned to winning ways on 11 January when securing a 2700m Graignes Class F. Is in superior company this time however, and cannot be considered a contender
  3. JUDIE DE TOUCHYVON – Useful mare that has made a name for herself in the amateur category. Is a tough nut to crack when barefoot and from the front row can give this a good go
  4. IN THE SUMMERTIME – Close, but convincing, winner of a Mauquenchy amateurs Class G on 12 January before running 4th in a Bordeaux Class F earlier this month. Starts on front row again and has a realistic chance of making the frame this time
  5. IT’S ME DIESCHOOT – Honest element with solid amateur references. Returns to France after imposing in Victoria Park a fortnight ago and looks good enough to pick up some prizemoney
  6. JORGIO DE VANDEL – Has been a write-off for over 2.5 years and is not about to create an upset
  7. ISIS D’ERAH – Won at Saint-Malo last summer but has made absolutely no impact since and is not about to begin now
  8. JULES DES CHAMPS – Returns to the amateur division following a pair of respectable efforts in the pro ranks. Benefits from a fine entry on the front line but still represents no more than a minor place chance
  9. INDUCTIF – Made up for a pair of eliminations when 2nd in a 2700m claimer here a month ago. Sports 4 pads again and, with application, is unlikely to disappoint. First 5
  10. HORACE DU VIVIER – Solid in all 3 starts here last month. Has demonstrated a particular fondness for these conditions and despite the extra 25m to travel, still looks a major player
  11. JEEP DES CHARRONS – Eliminated under these conditions during the autumn but has made amends more than once since and, in present shape, can contest the finish
  12. JALNA GIRL – Takes to the inner course for the first time but has been showing her form since returning to racing barefoot, and even though incurring the handicap still looks the one to beat
  13. GO FAST DE VAINS – Reassured at Cordemais in early-January but failed to confirm at Vire 2.5 weeks ago, and is unlikely to influence the outcome
  14. HISTOIRE DE LIERRE – Previously a good sort, and has references at this level, but has been out of sorts for some time and will have few friends
Summary: JALNA GIRL (12) takes to the amateur division for the first time, clearly in excellent condition, and with a talented young driver reining, and a fresh configuration, can get straight down to business. Arthur Raffin will still be mindful of JEEP DES CHARRONS (11) who has been knocking at the door this winter, and HORACE DU VIVIER (10) who would have made the frame at Mauquenchy recently had he not lost his action. IN THE SUMMERTIME (4) kicked the year off successfully before pleasing in the professional ranks at Bordeaux earlier in the month, and with application and a 25m head-start will be no pushover.
    SELECTIONS
JALNA GIRL (12) – JEEP DES CHARRONS (11) – HORACE DU VIVIER (10) – IN THE SUMMERTIME (4)
    C2 – PRIX DE PLESTIN-LES-GREVES – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class R Claiming – Harness – EUR € 18,000
  15. NON STOP MESLOIS – Produced best Vincennes performance when 3rd in a Class C under these conditions on 17 December. In considerably less-exalted company this time and the engagement of Alexandre Abrivard speaks volumes. Chance
  16. NATIF DU MANOLET – Unexceptional gelding returning to racing shod after flopping at Mauquenchy 2.5 weeks ago and has no possible chance
  17. NINO TOSCA – Failed to make good on his promise before the turn of the year. Is well-drawn though and, in this category, looks a player
  18. NEPITA – Has yet to deliver under these conditions but comes here fresh, sporting 4pads, and from the 4-spot should not be too far off the mark
  19. NOGHERA COUNTESS – Unthreatening 4th in a 2050m Agen Class E last Saturday. Matthieu Abrivard in the bike this time and has every chance of picking up a minor place cheque
  20. NEXT DANCE KALOUMA – Modest individual that has yet to show any flair for either code. Sports pads, with Gabriele Gelormini at the helm, but still not a concern
  21. NITRO DEUGE – Eliminated on 1 February first time out, but ran courageous 5th in an Argentan Class F 5 days later. Is not about to set off any fireworks but can still play a small part
  22. NOUMBA AS – Returns to the harness code after losing her action in a monte Class A here late last month and, with 4 pads fitted this time, should be competitive enough to make first 5
  23. NITESCO DE SIMM – Not ideally-entered and has not been seen out since October, but is a serious colt that should still be able to wrap this up
  24. NOTRE DE MEMARTIN – Modest element starting for first time since 22 November. Has little going for him here and can be disregarded
  25. NORDWEST MONTVASON – Has not been seen out since being eliminated on debut in a Reims claimer in early-December and can be confidently passed over
Summary: Winner of 3 in a row last summer before being eliminated in his 4th start, NITESCO DE SIMM (9) may not have been seen out since but will not need to be at peak fitness to win a race of this nature. That being said, NON STOP MESLOIS (1) produced a good performance under these conditions before his break and, padded with Alexandre Abrivard in the bike, looks the principal danger. Similarly sporting pads for the first time, NEPITA (4) is better-positioned behind the car and Franck Ouvrie can be quietly confident. NINO TOSCA (3) takes a notable dip in category and the draw will only work to his advantage.
    SELECTIONS
    NITESCO DE SIMM (9) – NON STOP MESLOIS (1) – NEPITA (4) – NINO TOSCA (3)
    C3 – PRIX DE PONT-L’EVEQUE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000
  26. LAY UP – Not the most convincing in a 2700m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago, but presents solid course-and-distance credentials, and if applied can make first 5
  27. LORD FROMENTRO – Tricky sort but has talent in spades. Sports 4 pads as he did when imposing under these conditions last March, but would still be preferred barefoot
  28. LE TOUQUET – Talented but capricious sort that has won 3 of 5 barefoot starts. Will be fully-fit by now and with stride in check can make a big impact
  29. LADY PRINCESS – Respectable mare making first appearance since being eliminated here on 13 December and is going to need the run
  30. LADY DES ARRIS – Undeniably useful but has struggled over recent weeks. Is well-placed though, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining, and is not incapable of playing a small part
  31. LAKOS DE BERLES – Serious type that made up for December elimination when unlucky 2nd in a Class D over track and trip on 25 January. Is well in on the front line and can bring the fight to LETIKALIN (7)
  32. LETIKALIN – Twice showed a more serious side to himself in December. Has a conditioner under his belt and, shod to preference this time, is very easy to like for the win
  33. LYNX DU SAPTEL – Honest trotter that has never failed to fire when barefoot. 5th in 25 January race of reference before running 4th at Cagnes and, sporting a new configuration, is worth keeping an eye on
  34. LACIENDA FLASH – Back under harness after running 3rd in a monte Class D here earlier in the month and, with Anthony Barrier reining, can defy the draw and finish in the money
  35. LA LUNA STAR – Unremarkable mare that has endured an interrupted career. Is barefoot for Vincennes bow but still looks out of her depth
  36. LOVE D’AUTHISE – Trotter with better references in the other discipline and has nothing to offer on seasonal comeback
  37. LILYROSE WIND – Has just the one race in her since the returning from her break. Is one of the weaker links in this field and can be ruled out
  38. LOVINA PERRINE – Moderate mare that has looked rather ordinary over recent months. Handed a tough draw and is not an obvious choice
  39. L’AMOUR D’ETANG – Has hardly put a foot out of line this winter, most recently close 3rd behind LAKOS DE BERLES (6) here on 25 January. Is not ideally-drawn but with David Thomain in the bike will be afforded every chance. Place prospect
Summary: A talented trotter that ended 2025 on a high note, LETIKALIN (7) will be shod as he was when imposing over course and distance that day, and from the front row will be expected to confirm. He will still come under pressure from LAKOS DE BERLES (6) who ran 2nd here late last month despite suffering traffic problems, and the less favourably-drawn L’AMOUR D’ETANG (14) who finished just behind him that day. LE TOUQUET (3), on the other hand, has been handed an excellent number and will have his chances if Theo Duvaldestin keeps him trotting.

  40. HOUARNEAU – Disqualified twice in a row, the latest at this track om 1 February. Not easy to trust and others are preferred
  41. HERMES EXPRESS – Modest form of late and finished 6th in a Class C mounted race over this course and distance on 25 January. More is needed to beat these rivals
  42. HELLO JADE RUSH – Not reliable but was fourth in a Class C mounted race over this course and distance on 25 January. Might earn some more minor money
  43. HOLD UP DES VENTES – Only modest of late and was 7th in a Class D harness race at this track over 2850m on 8 February. Should do a lot better under the saddle and is not out of it
  44. IKURO JIEL – Unreliable but was victorious in a Class C mounted race over this track and trip on 25 January. Can follow up
  45. GLADIATOR BOY – Has improved of late and finished third in a Class C mounted race over this course and distance on 25 January. Has a place chance
  46. JOUR DE FETE – Not reliable but did bounce back to form with a victory in a Class C mounted race at this course over 2175m on 18 January. Just as good this distance and can double up
  47. INDICE DELADOU – Returned to form and was runner-up in a Class C mounted race over this track and trip on 25 January. Can go one place better
  48. HADDOCK DU CLOS – Knocking hard at the door and was runner-up in a Class C mounted race at this course over 2175m on 18 January. Can be competitive again
  49. GUAPO MARBOULA – Off form and finished 11th in a Class B mounted race over this course and distance on 3 December. Returns from a break and others are preferred
  50. IGO CLEA – Not disgraced when 5th in a Class C mounted race over this course and distance on 25 January. Might play a minor role at very best
  51. IMPERIAL COGLAIS – Disqualified last time out at this track over 2175m on 15 February. Not easy to trust but could earn some money
  52. FLASH DU BIWETZ – Battling to find best form and finished 11th in a Class B mounted race at this track over 2850m on 14 January. Needs to find a few lengths to score
  53. HISTOIRE PHILS – Unreliable but was victorious last time out in a Class C harness race at this course over 2850m on 17 December. Could need this run returning from a short break
  54. IMAGINE D’ATOUT – Has struggled a bit of late and was 6th in a Class B mounted race at this track over 2850m on 17 December. Might needs to do more to beat score
Summary: A very open-looking race. JOUR DE FETE (7) bounced back with a good win at this track and is capable of doubling up, but he is not one to rely on. The same can also be said of rival IKURO JIEL (5), who beat many of these last month over this course and distance. HOLD UP DES VENTES (4) will like it back in a mounted race and should be a threat. INDICE DELADOU (8) only found one better on the day last time out and is a possible winner.

  56. LADY HAUFOR – Has some fair form and ran well when third in Class D at this track over 2100m on 25 January. Could earn some more money

  60. LEA D’ATOUT – Not reliable and was tenth in Class C at this track over 2100m on 5 February. Did win when barefoot before that and races without shoes. Can upset
  61. LYANA D’ARC – Only modest of late and finished 8th in Class D at this track over 2700m on 24 January. Has a place chance in this line-up
  62. LITTLETON LANDING – Returned to form with a Class D win over this course and distance on 19 January. Remains barefoot and can double up
  63. LOUNA DU LOCHEUR – In good form and was barefoot and runner-up in Class D at this course over 2100m on 13 January. Should be right there at the finish
  64. LA VISTA HAUFOR – Remains in good shape and finished third in Class D at this course over 2700m on 24 January. Can be competitive once again
  65. LAURELINA – Yet to win a race and finished tenth in Class E at Maure-de-Bretagne over 2850m on 8 February. Needs major improvement to win
  66. LOU DU DONJON – A winner of her last two starts, the latest in Class D at this track over 2100m on 25 January. Just as good this distance and can complete the hat-trick
  67. LIBERTY PAT – Not reliable and finished 8th in Class C at this course over 2100m on 5 February. Needs to do more to score
  68. LILY MARGOT – Disqualified in her last two starts, the latest in Class C at this track over 2700m on 31 December. Others make more appeal
  69. LOLA DU CAMPUS – Unreliable and was 5th in Class C at this track over 2100m on 5 February. Not easy to trust and others make more appeal
70. MICHEL MARTIN – Not disgraced when third in Class D at this course over 2100m on 6 February. Barefoot this time and has a place chance
  71. MILAN DU BOSQUET – Bounced back to best when a barefoot winner in class D over this course and distance on 31 January. Not easy trust but remains barefoot and can follow up
  72. MANNINEN SEVEN – Unreliable and was disqualified in Class B at this course over 2175m on 15 February. In good form before that and can be a threat if smart
  73. MOURILLON – Disqualified twice in his last three starts, including last time out when barefoot at this track. Remains without shoes and can challenge for top honours
  74. MARQUIS DU CHENE – Remains in good shape and was fourth in Class C at this track over 2175m on 8 February. Can get involved with the finish again
  75. MILLE SABORDS DIVO – Did not show his best when 7th in Class C at this track over 2175m on 8 February. Capable of making the frame
  76. MACINAGGIO – Needed his last run when 8th in a Class C harness race at this track over 2175m on 8 February. Fitter this time and could bounce back to score
  77. MALABAR MAGO – In good form and was third in Class C at this track over 2175m on 8 February. Can be competitive once again
  78. MEYOU DU CAMPUS – Did not show his best when 9th in Class B at this course over 2100m on 18 January. Better this distance and is capable of an upset
Summary: It is hard to rule any of them out from winning this race. MACINAGGIO (7) clearly needed his comeback run and is highly regarded, so can score this time. MOURILLON (4) does have disqualification issues but races without shoes again and did win his penultimate start when barefoot. MARQUIS DU CHENE (5) is in good form and quite capable of scoring. MALABAR MAGO (8) is threatening a winning turn and must be respected for that.

  82. KIKI AND CO – Disqualified four times in a row, the latest at this track over 2175m on 1 February. Hard to trust but is capable of scoring
  83. KELLY JANE – Holding form and finished fourth in a Class E harness race over this course and distance on 3 February. Tries a mounted race and is not out of it
  84. KATCHINA FOR CLARA – Showed some improvement when third in a Class A mounted race at this track over 2175m on 1 February. Can be competitive once again
  85. LYZIA DES AGETS – Disqualified last time out over this course and distance on 13 February. Consistent before that and can make the frame
  86. LOTUS ZEN – In good shape and was runner-up in a Class A mounted race at this track over 2175m on 1 February. Can go one place better
  87. KENTUCKY IDEAL – Disqualified last time out at this course over 2175m on 7 January. Capable of an upset onhis best form
  88. LASKO DES BROUSSES – Fluffed his lines with a disqualification at this track over 2175m on 1 February. Very consistent before that and has claims at scoring
  89. LAKANA DE FELLIERE – Not disgraced when 5th in a Group 2 mounted race over this course and distance on 13 February. Big chance in this line-up
Summary: A very interesting race. LAKANA DE FELLIERE (11) was not disgraced in a Group race over this track and trip just last week. She should make a bold bid at beating these rivals. KIKI AND CO (4) has a string of disqualifications behind him but can be a threat if he stays on the trot this time around. KELLY JANE (5) has some good form and can be a lively danger trying a mounted race. LASKO DES BROUSSES (10) is usually very consistent and perhaps his last-start disqualification is best ignored.

    C8 – PRIX DE SAINT-PIERRE LA COUR – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 49,000
  90. IVARUN – Eliminated in 2 of last 3 but is clearly in fine condition. Eric Raffin back in the bike and, if he keeps his charge focused, could trot his way into the frame
  91. IMPACT SPORT – No slouch on a good day but has placed just once in 4 Vincennes appearances and even though well-placed in front, still looks an outsider
  92. HUGH DE BANVILLE – Gives a good account for the most part and has been acquitting himself respectably, but has no references under these conditions and will have nothing to offer
  93. IMAKO VERDERIE – Won at Mauquenchy, then courageously confirmed over 2175m here in late-December. Was beaten into 4th at Nantes by JAZZ DE PADD (9), but with 4 pads fitted and Mathieu Mottier reining this time, must be taken more seriously
  94. JINA FOUTEAU – Hardy mare that seldom disappoints under these conditions. Goes barefoot following her Saint-Brieuc conditioner and from the 5-spot can get in on the action
  95. ICARE DUNGY – Has been a model of consistency in the south this winter, latterly 3rd in a Marseille-Vivaux Class F on 13 January. Franck Nivard at the helm this time and has a reasonable chance of getting a look in
  96. HOLLY GREEN – Sprang a 78-1 surprise when victorious in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F earlier in the month. Is unlikely to repeat but will generate more interest at least
  97. JOKER D’OLAINE – One of the younger horses here and showed his form at Mauquenchy 2.5 weeks ago. Starts wide on front line and with Yoann Lebourgeois reining is unlikely to be far off the mark
  98. JAZZ DE PADD – Won a 3000m Nantes Class D mid-January prior to running 3rd to a pair of 6yo’s 9 days later. Is useful under these conditions, enjoys a terrific entry, and with his trainer back in the bike can impose
  99. JOPLIN DES CROUAS – Won under these conditions early last season but has done little of note at Vincennes since and cannot be considered a priority
  100. HEOLA DU PILET – Unexceptional mare that has done little of note for some time and is not about to change her ways
  101. JUMBY BAY – Ran 4th behind JAZZ D’OURVILLE (13) in a 2700m Class E here 9 days ago. Boasts excellent references under these conditions and, despite a tough draw, and with shoes fitted, still looks competitively well in
  102. JAZZ D’OURVILLE – Produced at 16-1 surprise when 2nd to a very good horse in a 2700m Class E here on 11 February. Will have been kept on the boil and looks main threat to stable companion JAZZ DE PADD (9)
  103. JOB DU PERSIL – Made modest return to competition when 7th to HOLLY GREEN (7) at Mauquenchy 2.5 weeks ago. Would be preferred on a more even track and can be passed over
Summary: Very hard to fault at Vincennes when barefoot, JAZZ DE PADD (9) returns to the capital after a pair of fine runs at Nantes last month. He has only his elders to contend with this time and, despite a wide draw, is still easy to like for the win. Matthieu Abrivard will nevertheless be keeping a watchful eye on 2nd row starter, and stablemate, JAZZ D’OURVILLE (13) who showed a different side to himself here last week, and the better-positioned IMAKO VERDERIE (4) who won a Class D in this configuration on 29 December. Eliminated in 2 of his last 3, IVARUN (1) will be reunited with Eric Raffin for the occasion and returns to racing left-handed with a lot to contribute. JUMBY BAY (12) races shod this time but is plainly in fine shape and has a particular liking for 2100m of the main track.

  1. TEXAS WOOD – Two wins of late over track and trip, the latter on December 4th in a Class 2 race by 0.75L. Improving and likes this track and can get another success

Summary: TEXAS WOOD (1) has won his last two races over this course and distance. The most recent a Class 2 race in early December with a game success by three-quaters of a length. He has strong claims of getting the hat-trick at the expense of MADRIDISTA (4), who was around a length behind in third in the Class 2 race last time, and can make life tough for his old rival on better weight terms today. CARCAGNY (5) can also be involved at the finish and looks best of the rest.

  15. PRESA DIRETTA – Three unplaced runs since a win over 1900m in a Class 2 handicap at Chantilly on April 28th. Unlikely to be a threat
Summary: WALLY (4) is a solid performer who is a previous course winner back in 2023. He ran well when second over 1600m at this track in a Class 3 race in early January when last appearing and can win again. WIGMORE STREET (7) could be the one that makes the selection work for success. He has Listed placed form in Ireland and was fifth over track and trip last time. THE TOP GATSBY (2) has solid each-way credentials. She has won over the track and trip before. SENORITO (5) heads the rest.

  1. KHAMALGANE – Looked mediocre when 9th in a Handicap over 1600m at Pau on 28 January. Will need to do more to be a factor in this
  2. GIN GEMBRE – A decent 5th in a Handicap over 1400m at Deauville on 7 February. Finished a close 3rd over this track and trip three runs back from a wide draw. Drawn No 6 this time and has improved in blinkers
  3. PARISIAN BELLE – A promising 4th in a Handicap over this course and distance on 27 December. She showed a return to form last time and any further improvement would make her a threat in this field
  4. ZOUBAREVA – Ran well when 4th in a Handicap over 1900m at this course on 31 January. Coming back to form and she did have some good runs over this distance earlier in her career
  5. BLACK PANTHER – Disappointed when 11th in a Handicap over 1400m at Deauville on 7 February. However, she ran 3rd over this course and distance on 27 December and had both PARISIAN BELLE (3) and ZANTARIO (6) behind her
  6. ZANTARIO – Finished 6th in a Handicap over 1400m at Deauville on 7 February. He was just behind GIN GEMBRE (2) in that race and that makes him a possible contender in this
  7. RIVER DAVEN – Finished 6th in a Handicap over 2500m at Deauville on 6 February. Drops in distance which is a concern but there is no doubting her ability
  8. ALPENGEIST – A poor 14th in Handicap over 1900m at this course on 31 January. Recent form has been mediocre and he is unlikely to trouble this field
  9. SHOWBOATED – Finisihed 14th in a Handicap over 1800m at Croise-Laroche on 6 October. Has been off form for some time now and cannot be relied on
  10. RED CRAZY – Never in it when 11th in a Handicap over 1900m at this track on 31 January. Might benefit from the drop in distance but has his work cut out
  11. NOUR AYA – Pulled up in a Hurdle Claimer over 4000m at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on 11 December. Will prefer racing on the Flat again and has placed over 1600m but will need to up her game
Summary: GIN GEMBRE (2) has not won a race since 2023 but is currently showing some decent form and finished an excellent 3rd over this course and distance from a wide draw in December. He looks a reliable runner. RIVER DAVEN (7) has ability but she has been competing over a lot further and is unproven over this distance. ZOUBAREVA (4) can be competitive with blinkers on while BLACK PANTHER (5) can challenge off a lowered rating.

  12. ANTICO – A close-up 3rd in a Handicap over 1900m at this course on 13 February. Although held by PROLETARIAT (3) on an earlier run, he will race in blinkers this time
  13. LOUVE PRECIEUSE – A solid 4th in a Handicap over 1400m at Deauville on 7 February. That was an improved performance and that could bring her into contention
  14. PROLETARIAT – A reasonable 7th in a Handicap over 1400m at Deauville on 7 February. Although well beaten, he did run a solid 2nd over this course and distance in his previous start and had ANTICO (1) and LOUVE PRECIEUSE (2) quite a way behind him. The one to beat
  15. GOLDEN TRIP – Ended up 15th in a Handicap over 1600m at Clairefontaine on 11 July. Did win over track and trip last April but is likely to need this outing
  16. WEEKEND WARRIOR – A poor 13th in a Handicap over 1900m at this track on 13 February. Well held by others based on his 21 January run over this course and distance although he did go off as a 4-1 favourite
  17. MOONWALKER – Finished 10th in a Handicap over 1900m at this track on 31 January. Ran better in his penultimate over this course and distance and could place if things go his way
  18. RUBIS GOLD – A narrowly beaten 2nd in a Handicap over this course and distance on 21 January. He had to overcome a wide draw on that occasion and from the No 5 barrier should run well again
  19. HIGHFIELD HEIRESS – Disappointed when 12th in a Handicap over 1400m at Nancy on 30 November. Does not have proven form on the all-weather but does run well when fresh and needs to be taken seriously
  20. ZYGFRYD – Did well when 4th in a Handicap over 1900m at this course on 13 February. He is probably better over further but should still be competitive
  21. PEYTON PLACE – A moderate 12th in a Handicap over 1700m at Pornichet on 5 February. Is held by others on her penultimate run over this track and trip on 21 January but could place
  22. MADRAS – Finished 8th in a Handicap over 1700m at Pornichet on 5 February. Little to recommend him on recent form
Summary: On paper this race looks at the mercy of PROLETARIAT (3). He had no luck in his last start at Deauville but based on his penultimate when runner-up over this course and distance he holds a number of others in this line-up. Fitted with blinkers, ANTICO (1) will be looking to turnaround his last defeat by the selection as will LOUVE PRECIEUSE (2) who showed progress last time. RUBIS GOLD (7) comes off a good race over track and trip and off a better draw could be a danger.

  23. VADIROUMA – An encouraging 3rd in a Maiden over 1600m at this course on 5 February. She has placed in two starts on the surface and the drop in distance should prove ideal
  24. REVE SUR LE NIL – Finished 6th in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 29 January. She ran above her rating in that race and is one to respect in this event
  25. REMENBER CHOPE – Finished 3rd in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 29 January. She has had many opportunities and she could battle against these progressive performers
  26. ZAHARA – A promising 7th in a Conditions race over 1600m at this track on 11 December. Should come on from that run, especially with Christophe Soumillon in the irons
  27. AMELIA – Finished 10th in a Maiden over at 1300m Deauville on 28 November. Has had many opportunities and is likely to be outclassed in this field
  28. GOLDNIGHT – A mediocre 6th in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 8 January. Both of her races so far have been average and she could find this opposition too tough
  29. HOLLIE WOOD – A close-up 3rd in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 28 November. Has had many chances and comes back from break
  30. MELUSINE DU HOULEY – A close up 2nd in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 29 January. She has finished runner-up in two successive starts over this distance and should be there again

  32. FLOWER CELEBRATION – Finished 6th in a Maiden over 1400m at Strasbourg on 14 September. Comes back from a layoff and tries the all-weather for the first time
  33. LA PRIMA – Well beaten when 8th in a Conditions race over 1500m at Saint-Cloud on 19 November. Moderate debut and will need to improve
  34. INFRAROUGE – A solid 5th in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 29 January. Finished close up to some of her opposition in this field on debut and with further progress could be a threat
  35. LADY SHAMROCK – Unraced 3yo filly by Supremacy out of Oasis Dream mare Rocking trained by Alessandro Botti. Half-sister to Boston Rocker who finished 2nd in a Gr3 race at Leopardstown in Ireland in 2013
Summary: VADIROUMA (1) has placed in all three of her starts, and coming back in trip could just be what is needed to hand her a first victory. MELUSINE DU HOULEY (8) has only found one too good in her last two runs over this distance and has a great opportunity to go one better. ZAHARA (4) did not embarrass herself on debut and with strong assistance from the saddle must be respected. REVE SUR LE NIL (2) ran on strongly last time and should prove competitive.

  37. TANQUES – An encouraging 4th in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 2 November. AEDION (10) was just ahead of him so that augurs well for this run
  38. EQUULEUS – A well-beaten 2nd on debut over 1600m at Pau on 11 January. Does face stronger but he could still be progressive
  39. ROI TREZY – Won a Claimer over 1300m at Deauville on 6 February. Has now won 2 claimers in a row so his confidence will be good but he will need to up his game to be competitive
  40. VANVITELLI – An excellent 2nd in a Conditions race over 1500m at Deauville on 22 January. Finished strongly and looks ready to win
  41. DEVIL’STORY – A close up 3rd in a Maiden over 1300m at Deauville on 28 November. Had both HOWITZER (1) and AEDION (10) behind him so he needs to be taken seriously
  42. PARVAGE – Finished 15th in a Maiden over 1600m at this course on 5 February. His first race was promising and hopefully he can build on that run
  43. CHARLESTON DANCER – A poor 14th in a Maiden over 1600m at this track on 5 February. Will need to find more to be competitive but drop in trip might suit
  44. STEEL DRUM – A moderate 7th in a Maiden over 1700m at Pornichet on 5 February. That was his debut in France after having raced in the UK. Might do better over this trip
  45. AEDION – A disappointing 9th over 1300m at Deauville on 28 November. His firs three races were encouraging before his last failure. But he has since been gelded and that could evoke improvement
  46. AFFAIRISTE – Unraced 3yo colt by Expert Eye out of Doctor Dino mare Affaire De Coeur trained by Sebastien Parades. Mare’s first foal to race
Summary: VANVITELLI (5) gave the impression on debut he has more to offer when putting in a poweful finish, almost getting up to win. With natural progression he should do well again. After a promising start to his career followed by a poor run, AEDION (10) was gelded and he could make marked improvement. TANQUES (2) improved significantly from his debut to his 2nd run and should be even better this time. DEVIL’STORY (6) has some strong form and another good run is expected.
