French Selections Friday 20th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX IDUNNA – 2850m (a2m) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000

  1. NOUNASSIMA – 2nd on debut 2.5 weeks ago in a 2825m Class F at Le Croise-Laroche. Sports pads this time but still faces a tough task
  2. NO ONE – 2nd in a 2850m Laval Class E 3 weeks ago. Will have progressed for the run and with a leading driver at the helm, is easy to fancy for the win
  3. NONOLETA – In the frame in 2 of 3, most recently runner-up to NAZZARENA (6) in a 2450m Caen Class F 11 days ago. Is unlikely to win this but can still challenge for a place in the picture
  4. NIKITA DES ARRIS – Opened her account a month ago when comfortably winning a Graignes Class F, however in this company will struggle to make her mark
  5. NIGHT DRESS – Got off the mark at Mauquenchy on 24 February before failing to deliver at Enghien. Is clearly better than the result would suggest and, with pads fitted this time, can get back in the game
  6. NAZZARENA – Ran 3rd in Bordeaux on 22 February, then easily won a 2450m Caen Class F 11 days ago. Pads fitted again and makes her Vincennes bow with a good hand to play
  7. NEW WAVE – Ran 3rd over the main track on re-entry, then pleased at Pontchateau 2 weeks ago. Has earned the right to race in this category and is also good enough to impose
  8. NUT AND MONEY – Lost her maiden status at Mauquenchy in late-January prior to running modest 4th in a 2700m Class C 3 weeks later, and will have more to find
Summary: A trio of fillies in the running here but marginal preference must go to the well-related NO ONE (2) who left a good impression at Laval recently. He will be partnered by Mathieu Mottier this time and should be good enough to win a race of this nature. That said, NEW WAVE (7) has returned to competition in good shape and it will not be long before she loses her own maiden tag. NAZZARENA (6) debuts left-handed after flying up at Caen recently and is unlikely to be far off the mark.
    SELECTIONS

    C2 – PRIX ATE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  9. MELANCHOLY MAN – Capable sort in the monte code. Here for reasons of conditioning and can be passed over
  10. MON PLAISIR – Not the easiest of horses to use but finished respectable 4th behind MERMOZ (4) over track and trip late last month. Starts in front here but still a minor place chance at best
  11. MACINAGGIO – Fine colt that would have finished closer over 2700m here a month back had he been afforded a run. Will appreciate the drop in distance and the draw will only enhance his prospects. Claim
  12. MERMOZ – Produced a 50-1 surprise when 2nd in a Class C under these conditions on 28 February. Enjoys another fine draw and has a reasonable chance of challenging for a place on the podium
  13. MIKADO GEDE – Never at his ease but ran good 3rd in a 2175m Class B here on 15 February. Will be better off in this mobile start event and from the 5 slot has the ability to give MACINAGGIO (3) a run for his money
  14. MOURILLON – Sports front pads for first time at Vincennes after having run 3rd in a 2700m Class B here on 20 February. Enjoys a decent spot on the front row and is unlikely to disappoint
  15. MORETIME DU CAMPUS – Honest trotter that was not disgraced in a 2175m Class C here on 8 February. Paul Ploquin would have preferred a better draw though and others preferred
  16. MUST DU BELLAY – Ran 2nd over 2700m here on 17 February before coming 3rd in a Bordeaux Class D a fortnight ago. Is placed wide on the first line but form is not in question and has a realistic chance of picking up a cheque
  17. MANIGOD – Quality trotter with significant aptitude for the ridden code and will have other ambitions
  18. MISTER ROYAL – Quality element starting for first time since September. Is competitively-shod though, with Eric Raffin reining, and should not be underestimated
  19. MOZART DE L’ITON – Has not put a foot out of line over recent months . Faces a much tougher lot this time but should nevertheless be able to hold his own
Summary: MACINAGGIO (3) endured a tough trip over 2700m here a month ago when quite obviously in excellent shape and from the 3 slot can impose this time. Sporting pads as he did when winning in Bordeaux, MOURILLON (6) finished just ahead of him that day and should again figure prominently, but may first have to see off MIKADO GEDE (5) who returns to racing barefoot after having reassured here in mid-February. Runner-up over track and trip 3 weeks ago when competitively-shod for the first time, MERMOZ (4) is well-placed on the front line and Alexandre Abrivard finds himself in his bike for the occasion.
    SELECTIONS

    C3 – PRIX DE TRAPPES – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  20. KORIGANE D’ERABLE – Just missed out on the hat-trick in November before being put away for the winter. Is barefoot for re-entry, has thrived since moving yards, and even though in better company cannot be ruled out
  21. KEMILLA DE BRION – Has been suffering from seconditis over recent months but is clearly at the top of her game. Has yet to deliver under these conditions but in current form is easy to fancy for another podium finish
  22. KOOL DU CHATELET – Would most certainly have imposed here on 7 February had he not run into trouble. Has a lot going for him this time and can put things right. Claim
  23. KANELLE STAR – Surprise 2nd in a Class D over course and distance on 8 February but failed to confirm at Caen 2 weeks ago. Entrusted to David Thomain this time but still not a concern
  24. KOUREAS D’ELA – Went into her spell on a high note and could arguably have picked up where she left off had she not lost her action but, on better behaviour, can make amends and contest the finish this time
  25. KING D’HERMES – Somewhat made up for Nantes elimination when 3rd in a Cagnes Class F a fortnight ago. Goes well when barefoot and looks a respectable first-5 chance
  26. KARMA TEJY – Left a good impression at Caen last month, is barefoot this time, and with Eric Raffin in the bike will be no easy touch
  27. KOSY D’ERONVILLE – 4th behind KEMILLA DE BRION (2) in a Laval Class F on 18 February, at 81-1. A repeat, however, seems most improbable
  28. KRISTO STAR – Out of the picture in last 2 but is reunited with Paul Ploquin for whom he goes well and, in spite of a wide draw, can pick up some prizemoney
  29. KAIROS DE BOMO – Made the frame in 2 before being eliminated early in a 2700m Class D here on 22 February. Form is not in question though and even from the back row can redeem himself
  30. KARAIELLA BOND – Disappointing in all 3 starts this term. Shod to preference on this occasion but still has nothing to contribute
  31. KING CASH CEKE – Gives a good account for the most part but was pulled up at Enghien last time out. Is good in his category but is being aimed too high this time
Summary: A tough nut to crack when barefoot and focused, KOOL DU CHATELET (3) ran a close 2nd here last month despite suffering traffic problems. He benefits from a good spot behind the car this time and Thibaut Dromigny will be determined to set the record straight. He will still want to be wary of the well-positioned KOUREAS D’ELA (5) who left a good impression on re-entry at Lisieux last Saturday, and KARMA TEJY (7) who will be barefoot for her first goal of the spring. Runner-up in all 3 starts this term, KEMILLA DE BRION (2) also enjoys a front-row break and it will not be long before she gets her nose in front.

    C4 – PRIX FELICIEN GAUVREAU – ETRIER 3 ANS Q2 – 2700m (a1m1/2) – – Mounted – EUR € 120,000
  32. NORGUSSON ATALANTE – Placed twice here in January before being eliminated in a 2200m Class B here 3 weeks ago, and is not a concern
  33. NELATI DE MORGANE – Debuts under the saddle after 3 straight harness clinkers and looks the weak link here
  34. NAMARETTI DEVOL – Ran 5th in 13 February race of reference before coming 2nd to the good Neo Vanilla in a Class B over the short course late last month. Is not about to get his nose in front but can still pick up a cheque
  35. NEWTON DES ANDIERS – Ran 2nd to NICKEL DE BAILLE (7) over course and distance before running 4th to him in 2200m Gr.3 Prix Edouard Marcillac. Is unlikely to contest the finish but can still trot his way into the picture
  36. NINJA DE L’ENVOL – Confirmed trainer’s belief when excellent 2nd to NICKEL DE BAILLE (7) in 2200m Gr.3 Prix Edouard Marcillac on 13 February. Returns with morale intact and once again looks the main threat to NICKEL DE BAILLE (7)
  37. NEW SUCCESS – Failed to make any impact in Gr.3 Prix Edouard Marcillac when last of 7 finishers. Sports hind pads this time, and is reunited with Eric Raffin for the occasion, but others still easier to back
  38. NICKEL DE BAILLE – Winner of all 3 monte starts to date and has improved with every run. Held off NINJA DE L’ENVOL (5) that day and can do so once more. Claim
Summary: Undefeated in 3 runs under the saddle, most recently the Gr.3 Prix Edouard Marcillac, NICKEL DE BAILLE (7) puts his perfect status on the line once again but still looks the horse to beat. Close runner-up to him that day, on his first start in the code, NINJA DE L’ENVOL (5) must be taken seriously, as should 4th placed NEWTON DES ANDIERS (4) who has taken particularly well to his vocation.
    SELECTIONS

    C5 – PRIX CANOPUS – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 49,000
  39. KOUROUX – Opened his 2026 account in a Vire Class E early this month. Has placed in 1 of 2 under these conditions but others still preferred
  40. KOQUERY DU BUISSON – Got back in the winners’ circle at Chartres on 1 March and was not disgraced at Enghien 10 days ago. Is not a priority but has solid course-and-distance credentials and will have his supporters
  41. KING LOOK – Won at Nantes, then at Vincennes, but not the luckiest at Mauquenchy. Will appreciate the mobile start though and Théo Duvaldestin has an excellent opportunity to set the record straight
  42. KENNEDY FRANCE – Enjoying something of a second wind, imposing under these conditions before repeating at Caen early this month, and Paul Ploquin will be justifiably confident of a big run
  43. JOPLIN DES CROUAS – Delicate type that seldom makes his presence felt theses days and is unlikely to start now
  44. KALMIO DE LOU – Not the easiest of horses to gauge but has been showing his form recently, latterly winning a Class E at Le Croise-Laroche with authority 2.5 weeks ago. Is not about to repeat but can nevertheless finish in the mix
  45. KRAK D’AZUR – Recently returned to competition following a 10 months’ break. Shoes back on and has nothing to contribute
  46. JAZZMAN – Eliminated in 3 of last 4 but nevertheless showed at Vire that he is close to his race. Placed on sole start over course and distance and despite the draw must still be taken seriously
  47. KRACKER PIYA – Has turned a corner over recent weeks, posting 2 straight victories, including over course and distance. Benefits from an excellent draw and has a reasonable chance of completing the hat-trick
  48. IMPERIAL DE FORGAN – Modest individual with better prospects at a lower level and can be confidently disregarded
  49. JACKPOT D’ORGUEIL – Capable on a good day and appreciates 2100m of the main track, but has pulled a tough number and in this category will have too much to do
Summary: The talented KING LOOK (3) was unable to complete the hat-trick when missing the break at Mauquenchy, only to be subsequently pulled-up. Winner of his only start under these conditions, he is very easy to like for the win. Nicely-positioned just to his outside, KENNEDY FRANCE (4) won over course and distance before confirming at Caen and is clearly a contender, as is the less well drawn KRACKER PIYA (9) who similarly returns on a hat-trick. JAZZMAN (8) has been showing his capricious side but is plainly in race-mode and will be barefoot as he was when imposing here last September.
    SELECTIONS
    KING LOOK (3) – KENNEDY FRANCE (4) – KRACKER PIYA (9) – JAZZMAN (8)
    C6 – PRIX ALI HAWAS – ETRIER 3 ANS Q1 – 2700m (a1m1/2) – – Mounted – EUR € 120,000
  50. NATURE DU GOUTIER – Opened her monte account on 11 February before coming 4th to NEO VANILLA (6) in a 2200m Class B over the inner course 3 weeks ago. 4 pads fitted this time but still not easy to recommend
  51. NAGINATA – Got off the mark in a Class C over course and distance on 5 February. Was never at her ease over the inner course next time, but is reunited with Benjamin Rochard who will endeavour to put things right. Place chance
  52. NEBULEUSE FLIGNY – Debuts in the discipline, and makes first start since early-December, and is unlikely to spring any surprises
  53. NIZZA ROCCA – 2nd over course and distance on monte debut mid-January. Has had time to get back in shape following her Gr.3 Prix Holly Du Locton disappointment, and should not be entirely overlooked
  54. NESPERA – Debuted nicely in the discipline, finishing 3rd to NIKITA DES CHARMES (8) in Gr.3 Prix Holly Du Locton here on 13 February. Has ground to make up but is clearly a filly for the future and can repeat
  55. NEO VANILLA – Takes a considerable leap in category after dominating a 2200m Class B over the inner course 3 weeks ago. Is not a priority but can trot and will be worth monitoring
  56. NANIKA DU PONT – Eliminated in Gr.3 Prix Holly Du Locton, her public debut under the saddle. Is not easy to handle but she nevertheless showed serious aptitude that day and, if applied, can get in on the action
  57. NIKITA DES CHARMES – Improving filly with considerable aptitude for the discipline. Is unbeaten in last 4, most recently 2200m Gr.3 Prix Holly du Locton here on 13 February, and once again has a legitimate claim on the spoils
  58. NAYARA – Gave NIKITA DES CHARMES (8) a run for her money in Gr.3 Prix Holly Du Locton here on 13 February. Is sure to have come on for the race and once again looks the main danger
Summary: NIKITA DES CHARMES (8) has been quite the revelation since switching codes, winning 4 straight, including twice under these conditions. She is easy to fancy for the 5-timer but NAYARA (9) ran her close in the Gr.3 Prix Holly Du Locton, on her first monte start, and Anthony Barrier will be keen to turn the tables. Third that day, on her own ridden bow, NESPERA (5) will have progressed for the run and can again make the frame. NAGINATA (2) may still be rather green but she has buckets of potential and even though taking a significant hike in class, should prove competitive when it matters.
    SELECTIONS

    C7 – PRIX MAIA – 2850m (a2m) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 59,000
  59. JAZZ D’OURVILLE – Failed to deliver in a Class E over course and distance a month ago before running a reassuring 3rd in a 2500m Reims Class F on 1 March. Trainer back in the bike and from the front row make a good go of this. First 5
  60. JAURIAS – Pleased under these conditions in the autumn and has since continued his fruitful ways. Takes on some better horses this time but starts in front and is still competitive for a minor place cheque
  61. IDEAL DU BOUILLON – Has looked decidedly ordinary over recent months and in this category has no possible chance
  62. JARDYLAND – Has been pleasing since there turn of the year and starts on front line here. Has form under these conditions but may be taking on too much this time
  63. IDEFIX DES LANDES – Ended 2025 on a pleasant note but has done nothing noteworthy since. Stays shod for return to Vincennes and is unlikely to create an upset
  64. JASMIN VIVANCIERE – Imposed at Pontchateau in mid-February before running 3rd in a better lot 2 weeks ago. Is confirmed under these conditions and with hind shoes off this time may well prove the main threat to I STILL LOVING YOU (10)
  65. IOUPY TOLLEVILLE – Somewhat disappointing since winning at Le Mans in December. Is barefoot though, with Franck Nivard in the bike, and should not be overlooked
  66. INSTANT D’HAUFOR – Complicated but nevertheless a serious campaigner at this level. Has 3 conditioners under his belt and, twice a winner in 3 starts over course and distance, must be considered a player
  67. JAPAROV LIRE – Made up for Lyon-La Soie elimination when 2nd in a Caen Class D a fortnight back. Tends to show more over longer but, given the conditions, is easy to like for a place in the picture
  68. I STILL LOVING YOU – Imposed at Nantes in January before repeating in style over 2100m here just 3 weeks ago, and even though incurring the penalty will still take all the beating
  69. IMOKO JIBELAU – Useful on a good day but failed to make any impact in last 2 and must get his house in order
  70. IVRIG VIKING – Nicely-engaged but comes here off the back of 3 straight eliminations and others easier to trust
Summary: Like a horse reborn since moving yards, I STILL LOVING YOU (10) stormed up over 2100m here late last month and even with an extra 25m to travel this time still looks the one to beat. His owner-driver, Alexandre Abrivard, will still be keeping a watchful eye on a reconfigured JASMIN VIVANCIERE (6) who benefits from a terrific entry on the front row, and the complicated but talented INSTANT D’HAUFOR (8) who incurs the penalty but who will be competitively-shod. JAPAROV LIRE (9) reassured at Caen earlier in the month and Mathieu Mottier gets the nod.
    SELECTIONS
    I STILL LOVING YOU (10) – JASMIN VIVANCIERE (6) – INSTANT D’HAUFOR (8) – JAPAROV LIRE (9)
    C8 – PRIX DE PREUILLY – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  71. MIYA DE JOUDES – Has returned to competition with 2 straight successes, most recently a Saint-Galmier Class B mid-February. Starts on the inside here but still looks dangerous. Chance
  72. MAYOLA VEDAQUAISE – Has not won since coming to Paris but has gone close more than once. Would have preferred a better trip here last month but breaks from the 2 slot this time and can come close
  73. MY HAPPY STORY – Has been acquitting herself honourably so far this year but to little effect. Sports front pads for the first time though and from the 3 slot cannot be discounted
  74. MERYTATON – Sprang a 44-1 surprise when successful in a 2700m Class D here on 25 February. Has been handed a good draw, sports modified shoeing, and is capable of getting in on the action
  75. MESSINA – Would have finished closer than 5th in a Class C under these conditions 3 weeks ago had she found her way through, and if kept out of trouble, can expect to go out heavily-backed
  76. MAHIZ DE GUEZ – Serious filly with excellent monte credentials. Here for reasons of conditioning and can be ruled out
  77. MYSTERY QUEEN – Showed marked improvement here 2.5 weeks ago when close 2nd in a 2700m Class B. Tends to go well for Matthieu Abrivard and, barefoot again, will not be sent out at 27-1 this time
  78. MANHATTAN RAIN – Eliminated in 3 straight this term before running courageous 2nd in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Forced to break wide but is plainly in shape and on good behaviour will be competitive once more
  79. MAYA GERBEHAYE – Has yet to excel since starting to race barefoot, but did come 4th in a 2700m Class B here on 22 February, at 132-1. A repeat, however, seems unlikely
  80. MAGGY JENILOU – It took over 2 years to win a 2nd race but she did that at Cagnes in late-January. Followed that up a month later with a disappointing performance in a Class C at the same venue, and even with Gabriele Gelormini reining, is not an obvious choice
  81. MYRTILLE MARBOULA – Won her only start over course and distance, but that was last May, and recent re-entry run did little to convince
  82. MAMZELLE D’HERIPRE – Ran 2nd over track and trip in late-December prior to winning a Cagnes Class D on 7 February. Forced to break from the rear but is still unlikely to be far off the mark
  83. MOANA MESLOISE – Showed promise last summer and autumn but subsequently went off the boil. Returns to racing shod following a dismal re-entry here last month, but will first need to reassure
  84. MEGANE DE CERISY – Complicated filly that lost her action here last month when first-time barefoot. Shod this time but still not a concern
Summary: Somewhat unlucky on her first objective of the year, MESSINA (5) nonetheless showed her form. She will have progressed for the race and from the 5 slot can win this. MIYA DE JOUDES (1) has hardly put a foot wrong though, comes here on a hat-trick, and can pull it off if she turns. MAYOLA VEDAQUAISE (2) has a pair of runs under her belt since the spell, is confirmed over 2100m here, and can play a prominent part. MYSTERY QUEEN (7) had her measure early last month and Mattheiu Abrivard will be eager to prove it was no flash in the pan. MANHATTAN RAIN (8) put a number of eliminations behind her to finish ahead of Alexander Abrivard’s filly here last time and will be similarly configured.

    C9 – PRIX ENCELADUS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  85. LIEGO – Left a very good impression at Laval despite a late fault. Is plainly close to his race and will be no pushover if he takes to the new conditions
  86. LUTIN DE BAFFAIS – Eliminated on comeback at Caen 2.5 weeks ago. Has been reconfigured for the occasion but will find the going a bit too tough
  87. LE BARON BEZILLAT – Tricky but capable element returning to racing barefoot after disappointing behind LEOPARD WIT (7) at Pontchateau. Is reunited with Tony Le Beller though and is unlikely to go home empty-handed
  88. LET IT SNOW – Placed in 4 here prior to losing all chance early in a 2850m Class C here a month ago. Is quite obviously in good shape though and Pierre-Yves Verva will be expected to put things square
  89. LANSKY VALLEE – Unremarkable individual starting for first time since December and is unlikely to cause an upset
  90. LAVALO BELLO – Failed to secure the 3-timer when 5th behind LET IT SNOW (4) in a Class D over course and distance early last month. Is patently better than that though and improvement anticipated
  91. LEOPARD WIT – Secured first objective of the year when winning a Pontchateau Class E 2 weeks ago. Takes on a marginally better lot this time, and debuts at the venue, but will be no soft touch if he takes to the new profile
  92. LUGANO DE LOU – Moderate trotter back racing barefoot after running 7th in 7 February race of reference, on comeback. Has had time to progress but still represents no more than a minor place chance
  93. LEONARDO DU DERBY – Useful type making first appearance since 11 January. Tends to be seen more often over shorter but did place on sole 2700m start here and should not be ignored
  94. LE MAC – Has not been seen out since posting 2 straight eliminations last October. Front pads fitted and no danger
  95. LUCKY MESLOIS – Capped the winter meeting off in good order, easily winning a 2100m Class D here on 5 February. Comes here fresh and looks thoroughly capable of repeating
  96. LORDIUS – Hardy trotter with fine provincial credentials but bit off more than he could chew on sole start here. Is barefoot following a return run in Bordeaux but still not an obvious choice
Summary: LUCKY MESLOIS (11) may not have enjoyed the luckiest of winters in Paris but he ended the meeting with an authoritative victory over shorter here last month. He benefits from a good entry and with form maintained could well double his money. He should nevertheless encounter resistance from LIEGO (1) who would have finished close at Laval recently had he not blundered coming out of the final turn, and LAVALO BELLO (6) who steps up in category after having won 2 of last 3 over course and distance. New to Vincennes but an absolute dynamo when barefoot, LEOPARD WIT (7) comes to Paris with a good hand to play.

C1 – PRIX DE L’ILE DEGABY – 3000m (a2m) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 21,000

  3. MA DALTON – Disqualified in a class F at Feurs over 2850m on 8 March. Has struggled this year and is probably best watched for now
  4. MORGANA GUILLERVIL – In good form and was runner-up in a class F at Cavaillon over 2600m on 1 March. Remains barefoot and could earn some more money
  5. MELANIE WELL – Only modest of late and finished 8th in a class E at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2925m on 31 January. Remains barefoot but needs to find a few lengths to score
  6. MIA FERM – A runner-up in her last three starts, the latest in a class E at Marseille-Vivaux over 2650m on 13 February. Big chance in this line-up

  8. MILADY DE NIMES – Disqualified in a class E at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2925m on 3 March. Tries barefoot and is capable of playing a minor role
  9. MAGDALENA – Not reliable and finished 6th in a class E at Cabourg over 2725m on 2 October. Returns from a break and has yet to win a race. Others make more appeal
  10. MISS MARGOT – Finished fifth in a class D over this track and trip on 13 March. Yet to win a race but might play a minor role
  11. MAREVA – Has some fair form and finished fifth in a class E at Lyon La Soie over 2000m on 9 March. Tries barefoot and can contest the finish
  12. MALIDA – Only modest of late and finished 7th in a class D at this track over 3000m on 13 March. Tries barefoot and can be competitve in this line-up
  13. MORANE – Holding form and finished fourth in a class C at Marseille-Vivaux over 2650m on 11 December. Has a place chance in this line-up
  14. MALAGA D’ATOUT – Disqualified in two of last three starts, the latest in a class D at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2150m on 28 February. Not easy to trust and could be a threat when smart
  15. MELODIE D’HOULBEC – Battling to find best form and finished 8th in a class D at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2150m on 28 February. Has won over this track and trip and is not out of it
Summary: MIA FERM (6) has been a bit unlucky not to have had winning success so far. She has run well over this course and distance so gets a confident vote for this opening event. MAREVA (11) has some fair form and, being barefoot for the first time, she could go close to scoring. MALAGA D’ATOUT (14) has been plagued with disqualification issues of late but can be a real threat when smart. MALIDA (12) races without shoes and is also capable of getting into the mix of things.
