French Selections Friday 27th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX DE SALAGNAC – 2850m (a2m) – Class D – Mounted – EUR € 46,000

  1. LISBETH DRY – Placed in 2 here before faulting when full of running in an Enghien Class D 2.5 weeks ago, all under harness, and debuts in the code with Damien Bonne in the irons and lot to contribute
  2. LIBERTY CASH – Handy dual-discipline mare returning to racing barefoot after failing to produce the goods at Laval under harness. Takes on a tougher lot this time but still cannot be dismissed
  3. FRENCIS ZL – Completely out of the picture in 5 starts since returning to Paris and can be confidently disregarded
  4. ETOILE DU OZ – Flattering 5th in a 2700m Class E here a month ago and will have few, if any, friends
  5. LUDMILA DETE – Serious mare with fine aptitude for the code. Made a good impression on her re-entry, will have come on for the race, and can win this if kept trotting
  6. LADY DE SAFRAN – Showed promise under the saddle in January before twice failing to deliver under harness. Is not a priority but should not be entirely ruled out either
  7. KASANGA – Excellent campaigner that seldom disappoints these days when barefoot. Took little time getting back in the game and should again prove competitive for a place in the picture
  8. LOLA D’AMOUR – Back in the discipline after placing twice under harness in Toulouse. Goes barefoot for the first time under the saddle but others still preferred
  9. LEMPICKA SEPT – Got back down to business at Caen in February before winning a Meslay-du-Maine Class F, from pillar to post, 10 days ago, and Eric Raffin will be eager to make it 3 on the trot
  10. KENIDILLE – As tricky as they come but has ample talent. Has not been seen out since last May, and remains shod for return, but enjoys a good entry and will be worth monitoring
Summary: Most impressive last summer when competitively-shod, LUDMILA DETE (5) was competitive when eliminated on last month’s comeback, will have no issues with the inner course, and can get off the mark for the new season. That being said, she can expect to encounter resistance from the tricky but talented, and reconfigured, LEMPICKA SEPT (9) who has enjoyed a new lease on life since being partnered by Eric Raffin. LISBETH DRY (1) looks the sort that can do well under the saddle and in current form is easy to recommend. KASANGA (7) is similarly easy to like when barefoot and focused, and climbs the category-ladder with a good hand to play.
    SELECTIONS
    LUDMILA DETE (5) – LEMPICKA SEPT (9) – LISBETH DRY (1) – KASANGA (7)
    C2 – PRIX LUCIA – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class E – Harness – EUR € 52,000
  11. IZIJAL – Should not be too quickly-judged for failing to deliver here late last month. Was forced to endure a tough trip and Eric Raffin will be determined to make things right
  12. JAG HAUFOR – Gave a good account on comeback prior to being eliminated at Laval. Is clearly in good shape though and can play a part if David Thomain manages to get him off on the right foot
  13. JALOUZ D’OLIVERIE – Gave a good account on re-entry at Fougeres despite finishing out of the money. Is plainly better than most here and the draw will only work to her advantage. Claim
  14. JOHORE – Takes a dip in category after running 3rd in a 2700m Class D here on 22 January. Benefits from a good draw, has already won under these conditions, and must be afforded respect
  15. JADE RENARDIER – Clearly back at the top of her game, having won 2 of last 3, including over track and trip. Is reunited with Benoît Robin who drove her to victory that day, and will be expected to finish in the mix once more
  16. JUNKIES MINDS – Was going well when eliminated in a Laval Class E earlier this month. Is plainly in rude health, sports modified shoeing, and given his liking for 2100m here, is likely to garner significant support
  17. ISSIA DE CHARLY – Has done nothing of note since last summer and current form does nothing to inspire confidence
  18. JOYEUSE ENTREE – Ran 3rd under harness at Caen 2.5 weeks ago prior to imposing in the other code 3 days later. Faces a better lot this time and chances appear slim
  19. JOVIAL HAUFOR – Has been giving a good account of himself for the most part over recent months. Modest 5th in a Laval Class E on 11 March though and is not a priority this time
  20. JUSTICIA GLAM – Imposed at Nantes before finishing 5th behind JOYEUSE ENTREE (8) at Caen. Sports modified shoeing and has previously imposed over track and trip, but is not about to influence the outcome
  21. ICARE DUNGY – Has not once finished out of the frame since November, most recently bagging a Cagnes Class E with ease on 3 March. Forced to start on back line but in present shape is easy to like for a place in the picture
  22. JORLANDO – Won 2 at the turn of the year before being eliminated in 3 straight. Ability is not in question but reliability is. Disregard
Summary: Twice a winner here during the winter meeting, JALOUZ D’OLIVERIE (3) is back at Vincennes after having just returned from a spell. She has pulled an excellent number and, if applied, can open her 2026 account. Paul Ploquin will still be keeping tabs on the in-form and reconfigured JUNKIES MINDS (6) who would have finished close at Laval had he not lost his action, and ICARE DUNGY (11) whose form can negate the draw he has been allocated. Better-positioned behind the car, JOHORE (4) makes his first appearance for 2 months but is plainly in race-mode and unlikely to be easily dominated.
    SELECTIONS
    JALOUZ D’OLIVERIE (3) – JUNKIES MINDS (6) – ICARE DUNGY (11) – JOHORE (4)
    C3 – PRIX ADRASTEA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000
  23. MURPHY DU PONCELET – Decent element making main-track bow after just the one return run. Looks a race shy and in this category will struggle to make his presence felt
  24. MAXOU DIGEO – Has demonstrated very good aptitude for both codes, but has not been seen out since October and is going to need the race
  25. MUST DREAM – Got back in the game when 2nd in a 2100m Class D here on 11 February. Is unlikely to create an upset but is still worth keeping an eye on
  26. MIKA DE LA VALLEE – Useful colt making first appearance since 27 December. Has no main-track references and best to hold off
  27. MOZART DE L’ITON – Drops marginally in category after having come 5th in a 2100m Class C here a week ago. Ran 2nd on sole course-and-distance run and should be good enough to make first 5
  28. MITCH DE GRANOU – Never at his ease when 5th behind MALDRIC D’ECHAL (15) here on 22 February, 3 weeks after having run 2nd in a Class D. Boasts solid main-track references and, with application, can contest the finish
  29. MISTER ROYAL – Was clearly full of running when unluckily eliminated in a Class C here last Friday, his first start since September. Is reunited with his regular partner and will be dangerous if he stays in stride
  30. MOONLIGHT DU RHIN – Respectable sort that was not the most fortunate behind MALMO DE PUCH (14) at Saint-Galmier 2 weeks ago, but even so, will have too much to do
  31. MISTRAL JANEIRO – Not the biggest fan of Vincennes but did get his head in front on one occasion. Races first-time barefoot though and can start to get back in the game
  32. MALIUM – Easy winner of a Class E under these conditions on 25 February, beating MOZART DE L’ITON (5). Faces a stiffer test this time though and is unlikely to spring any surprises
  33. MAROLY – Fine future prospect starting for the first time since 19 October. Goes left-handed on this occasion but is here for reasons of conditioning and can be ruled out
  34. MANDELA SEVEN – Pleased here more than once before the turn of the year but well-beaten in last 2. Will be competitively-shod for the first time and Nicolas Bazire will be expecting rehabilitation
  35. MOONLIGHT DJOC – Has done nothing but improve over past 6 weeks, most recently securing a Caen Class E mid-month, and although not a priority still cannot be discounted
  36. MALMO DE PUCH – Quality trotter that left a good impression on re-entry a fortnight ago. Benefits from a superb engagement and is easy to like for the win
  37. MALDRIC D’ECHAL – Valiant 3rd of 9 in a Class D under these conditions on 22 February. Trainer could not have wished for a better entry and will be justifiably confident of another good run
Summary: Barefoot for the first time after having made a fine comeback at Saint-Galmier earlier this month, MALMO DE PUCH (14) will be reunited with Eric Raffin for the occasion and is thoroughly capable of imposing. MITCH DE GRANOU (6) is better than his latest result would suggest and will be no easy touch if David Thomain gets him off on the right foot. Confirmed at a superior level, MISTER ROYAL (7) was not the luckiest here a week back and Benjamin Rochard will be out to set the record straight. MALDRIC D’ECHAL (15) enjoys a terrific entry here, showed his form last month, and will not be going home empty-handed.
    SELECTIONS
    MALMO DE PUCH (14) – MITCH DE GRANOU (6) – MISTER ROYAL (7) – MALDRIC D’ECHAL (15)
    C4 – PRIX AEMILIA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 46,000
  38. LOUSTIC DE FLAM – Fine campaigner that seldom lets the side down but will be shod for the occasion and will have other ambitions
  39. LIL BOSS ONLY – Like a horse reborn since starting to race in his current configuration. Steps marginally up in category after running 2nd under similar conditions early last month and is unlikely to be far from the action
  40. LA DAME DE COEUR – Undeniably useful but has struggled to find her way this term and is unlikely to start now
  41. LOUISDOR DECHAMBOU – Has enjoyed quite the resurgence since starting to race with 4 pads, but faces a tough task this time and is not about to secure the hat-trick
  42. LORENZO GEDE – Has done nothing but improve this year, latterly winning an Amiens Class D early this month. Has placed, but never excelled, over the main track though and cannot be regarded a priority
  43. LEVRETTE – Has not been seen out since disappointing at Cavaillon last September and can be passed over
  44. LE GENTLEMAN – Justifiably well-regarded type making first appearance since November and is not about to spice things up
  45. LEXCELLENT DU METZ – Gave a fine account of himself on comeback in a Class C here on 19 February despite being eliminated. Will have progressed for the race and must be considered a contender
  46. LOOK D’HERMES – Useful element starting for first time since being eliminated in a Class D under these conditions on 22 January. Trainer in the bike this time and will be expecting to make amends
  47. LETIKALIN – Gave a fine account on first objective of the year when runner-up to LAY UP (15) in a 2100m Class D here on 20 February. Tends to go well for Paul Ploquin who will be expecting to figure prominently at the business end of the race
  48. L’AMOUR SUPREME – Occasionally loses focus but otherwise presents decent course-and-distance credentials. Goes barefoot following a pair of conditioners and must not be underestimated
  49. LITTLETON LANDING – Serious mare whose latest numbers belie her true ability. Races barefoot following a promising prep and can complement her January victory
  50. LOUNA DU LOCHEUR – Generous mare that finished ahead of LITTLETON LANDING (12) in a 2850m Class C here on 20 February. Always gives what she can and on courage alone could make first 5
  51. LOLA DU CAMPUS – Encouraged here early last month, but subsequently failed to confirm next time, and against the boys on this occasion, will have nothing to offer
  52. LAY UP – Comfortable winner of a 2100m Class D here on 20 February. Has never failed to deliver for Eric Raffin who will be justifiably anticipating a big performance
Summary: Given an Enghien conditioner after failing to deliver here just over a month back, LITTLETON LANDING (12) ran shod that day but nevertheless caught the eye. She will be barefoot this time, with Mathieu Mottier reining, and can impose, but she will still come under pressure from the wonderfully-consistent LEXCELLENT DU METZ (8) who would have finished close here last month had he not lost his action, and recent Class D winner, LAY UP (15), who benefits from a terrific entry. Good 2nd to the latter last time out, LETIKALIN (10) has been reconfigured and is unlikely to disappoint.
    SELECTIONS
    LITTLETON LANDING (12) – LEXCELLENT DU METZ (8) – LAY UP (15) – LETIKALIN (10)
    C5 – PRIX EOS – 2850m (a2m) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 53,000
  53. ESPADA (ITY) – Surprise 3rd in a 2700m Class E here before losing his action across town 3 weeks ago, and is being aimed too high this time
  54. PURE STEEL – Useful but is not the easiest of horses to use. Will be driven by Eric Raffin for the first time though and is not to be overlooked
  55. RAGAZZA DU CHENE – Raced respectably in a 2700m Class D here on 25 February. Has never delivered under these conditions but has merit and will generate some interest
  56. ELTYME – Tough mare starting for first time since late-January. Has previously placed over course and distance but still not an obvious choice
  57. JUBII VANG – Has placed just twice since coming to France but has yet to run to his mark. Was not disgraced last time out and will be expected to show some improvement
  58. EL DORADO BAR – Imposed over 2700m at Vire last week after having won over 2700m here a month earlier. Has won 4 of last 5 starts in current configuration and will not be easy to oppose
  59. FUSION EAGRA – Placed over course and distance earlier in the year, and most recently ran 3rd to EL DORADO BAR (6) at Vire 9 days ago, at 22-1. Gabriele Gelormini stays faithful and will be expecting to finish in first 3
  60. EBANO D’ARC – Useful at home in Sweden but has never excelled at Vincennes. Makes first start since last June and is going to need the race
  61. EMPIRE AS – Handy in both disciplines but can prove a handful. Has shown more under the saddle lately and others easier to back
  62. KHEO VIVANCIERE – Good 2nd in a 2875m Enghien Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Is hard to knock in current configuration and looks the principal danger to EL DORADO BAR (6)
  63. ERNESTO ROC – Moderate type with just the one run in him since the layoff. Springs the occasional surprise but in this company has no realistic chance
Summary: Winner of both objectives so far this term, and easily on both occasions, EL DORADO BAR (6) returns to the capital on a hat-trick and will be a tough nut to crack. Leading the opposition, KHEO VIVANCIERE (10) excels with Mathieu Mottier and looks a marginally better bet than FUSION EAGRA (7) whom he beat here in late-January. JUBII VANG (5) was not as sharp as expected at Cagnes but has been entrusted to Matthieu Abrivard and it is just a question of time before he comes good again.
    SELECTIONS
    EL DORADO BAR (6) – KHEO VIVANCIERE (10) – FUSION EAGRA (7) – JUBII VANG (5)
    C6 – PRIX FAMA – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 52,000
  64. NASHIRA RUSCINO – Third in Enghien race of reference after having imposed at Vire 9 days earlier. Has yet to tackle the Vincennes main track and is unlikely to find this the easiest of tests
  65. NORA D’ELCE – Has not been seen out since clinching victory in a 2850m Class C here on 12 December. Will have been prepared for this though and it would be no surprise to see her win this
  66. NINA HAGEN – Capable but unremarkable sort that showed improvement over the inner track a month back, but is not about to upset the status quo
  67. NOOR DU CAMPUS – Opened her account in a 2100m Class D here on 10 February. Takes on a better bunch this time but has nonetheless earned the right to race here and can pick up some prizemoney
  68. NIKITA DU MOUTHIEU – Handy element but has not raced since October and is going to need the run
  69. NEPTUNE CHANTE – Imposed on debut at Vire on 8 February before easily confirming 8 days later in a 2700m Class C here. In more elevated company this time but is a serious proposition nonetheless
  70. NUANCE CASTELETS – Missed out by the smallest of margins to NEWZIRA JOSSELYN (12) in a 2150m Enghien Class D 2.5 weeks ago, however she is unlikely to repeat
  71. NIKITA – Yet to lose her maiden tag but is regularly in on the action. Returns to racing shod and, confirmed under these conditions, will have her supporters
  72. NIKAIA PORT – Showed early promise before losing her way in early-winter. Has not been seen out since early-January and is unlikely to trouble the judge
  73. NO LIMIT DELO – Returned to a more reasonable level early last month when 3rd in a 2700m Class A. Has no references under 2550m but has bags of ability and should not be far off the mark
  74. NAFI DE REVE D’OR – Has won 3 of 4 so far, including over the inner course. Is unraced since early-January but sports hind pads for the first time and can get a look in if she takes to the new profile
  75. NEWZIRA JOSSELYN – Convincing winner of a 2150m Enghien Class D 2.5 weeks ago, on first start for new trainer. Is new to the main track but with Franck Nivard reining, will be afforded every chance
  76. NALA DE SMARVES – Makes Vincennes debut after running 2nd in a Cagnes Class A 3 weeks ago, but may just be taking on too much this time
  77. NONEKA – Serious filly returning to a shorter trip after February’s re-entry elimination. Should not be too hastily-judged and can be backed with confidence this time. Chance
Summary: NORA D’ELCE (2) may just have 2 races under her belt but she has looked a thorough professional so far and, sporting hind pads for the first time, can make her main-track bow a winning one. Winner of 3 on the trot last year before being eliminated on re-entry here last month, NONEKA (14) will be no shrinking violet if she stays in stride. Unbeaten in 2, most recently over 2700m here, NEPTUNE CHANTE (6) will have her chances, as will the trickier NEWZIRA JOSSELYN (12) who returned to victorious ways at Enghien recently.

    C7 – PRIX PENTHESILEA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr3 – Harness – EUR € 70,000
  78. NEMROD BUROIS – Got off the mark on 19 February in a Class C under these conditions, although the step up in category may be a step too far
  79. NIKO DE TIMBOEUF – Honest colt that always gives what he has and is confirmed over the main track. In this company, however, will struggle to make his presence felt
  80. NICE SPEED – Serious sort that ran 2nd to NOE DES BAUX (6) in a Class A over track and trip on 22 February. Showed remarkable tenacity that day and will be expected to play a leading role
  81. NOVECENTO – Ran respectable 5th to NOE DES BAUX (6) in a Class A over track and trip on 22 February, however at this level may have too much to do
  82. NOTABLE – Unbeaten in 2 starts with Eric Raffin, both of them at Vincennes. Faces a tougher task this time but is an improving colt with every chance of having his way
  83. NOE DES BAUX – Has shown a liking for Vincennes, and the main track in particular. Got off the mark for 2026 when securing a Class A over track and trip on 22 February and should again find himself in the running
  84. NOT THIS TIME – Black-type-winning colt that lost her action early in the Gr.1 Critérium des Jeunes after having imposed at Gr.3 level. Alexandre Abrivard in the bike this time and will be expected to put things right
  85. NET MONEY – Complicated but has ample ability. Was a well-beaten 5th in Gr.1 Prix Comte Pierre de Montesson mid-February but at this level will be more competitive. Attention
  86. NAT KING COLE – Makes first appearance since coming 2nd to NOT THIS TIME (7) in Gr.3 Prix Leopold Verroken here on 1 February. Has ground to make up but can still finish in first 5
Summary: A number of good future prospects lining up here and NOTABLE (5) is most certainly a case in point. Winner of his last 4, most recently a Class A over course and distance, he has buckets of untapped potential and can make it 5 on the trot. Already twice a winner this year, NICE SPEED (3) will be out to turn the tables on NOE DES BAUX (6) who had his measure last month, and he in turn may first have to see off Gr.3 Prix Leopold Verroken winner NOT THIS TIME (7) who was well-backed before being eliminated in the Gr.1 Prix Comte Pierre de Montesson.
    SELECTIONS

    C8 – PRIX AMALTHEA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C – Harness – EUR € 68,000
  87. DOMENIK JET – Makes French debut following some lacklustre performances in Sweden and is unlikely to generate much interest
  88. HOUSTON DE CUIGNY – Hardy sort that has produced some decent performances this term, but races shod this time and best to wait
  89. SILVER BULLIT(SWE) – Has made no impact in 3 French starts this year and at this level will be well out of his comfort zone
  90. HAIKIDO – Kicked the year off respectably but well-beaten in next 2. Has been reconfigured for the occasion but chances still limited
  91. JERZINHO SPORT – Easy winner of a 2875m Class D on a waterlogged Enghien track on 13 March. Will be shod as he was that day and is unlikely to be far off the mark
  92. HERMES D’ECROVILLE – Seldom gets his nose in front these days, but regularly gives his best. Defied his odds at Cagnes earlier in the month, however a repeat seems unlikely
  93. GOLD D’ECROVILLE – Ran 2nd to HOMARD LAND (13) a month ago prior to his Caen conditioner. Paul Ploquin in the bike this time and in current condition is easy to like for a place in the frame
  94. HALL BLACK MESS – Serious type that made amends for a pair of below-par efforts here when 2nd in a 2900m Amiens Gr.3 on 4 March. Front shoes off this time and, with his mind on the game, can play a prominent part
  95. HAIDA SAUTONNE – Has struggled with form since imposing here 12 months ago, but has since changed stables. Makes just 2nd start for the Sassier yard but will have come on for Saturday’s run and cannot be discounted
  96. INHERIT – Most impressive during the winter meeting but was well beaten in last 2 here. Has freshness on his side and it is just a question of time before he gets back down to business. Attention
  97. HONEY KING – Not as sharp as he once was and was disappointing at Cagnes last time out. Has made no impact over the main track since winter 2024 and is not about to cause an upset
  98. ICARE DU BERYL – Would have finished in the mix here on 22 February had he not been eliminated. Sports front pads following his Lyon-La Soie prep and should not be overlooked
  99. HOMARD LAND – Dynamic winner of 2 straight runs over course and distance. Set his personal best time late last month and is going to take all the beating
  100. GUERRIER CASTELETS – No slouch on a good day but rather disappointing in last 3 starts and will need to raise his game
  101. NINEPOINTS LASSE – Made up for Gr.3 disappointment in January when 3rd of 12 in a 2100m Class C here on 22 February. Benefits from an excellent entry and looks a major player
  102. IRON MESLOIS – Winner of a claimer over track and trip mid-February prior to being eliminated in an Amiens Gr.3 on 4 March, and will have few friends in the markets
Summary: Simply superb since switching back to his current configuration, HOMARD LAND (13) met no opposition in either of this year’s course-and-distance victories and, barring force majeure, should have this in the bag. Eric Raffin will still be wary of NINEPOINTS LASSE (15) who has placed in 2 of his last 3, and a reconfigured HALL BLACK MESS (8) who reassured in a GNT Gr.3 earlier this month. Barefoot again after having prepped smartly at Caen, GOLD D’ECROVILLE (7) must be taken seriously, as should JERZINHO SPORT (5) who earned the right to run here after flying up at Enghien 2 weeks ago.

C1 – PRIX DE LA SANTOLINE – 3000m (a2m) – Class F – Harness – EUR € 18,000

  1. MOLLY FLIGNY – Disqualified on debut at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2700m on 28 February. Capable of improvement but others are preferred
  2. MA POUPEE D’AMOUR – Showed vast improvement when third in Class G at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2150m on 26 July. Returns from a break and could need this run
  3. MIMI JELOCA – Only fair of late and finished 5th in Class G at Toulouse over 2750m on 20 March. Might play a minor role at very best

  5. MIA FERM – Did not show her best when 13th in Class E over this course and distance on 20 March. Capable of contesting the finish

  10. MUSE DE TERRAIL – A winner of two races last year, including last time out in Class F at Nimes over 2750m on 1 November. Returns from a break and could need this run
  11. MOLLY DE VISAIS – Did not show her best when 6th in Class E at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2925m on 3 March. Can be competitive in this line-up
  12. MELIA DE MONGOCHY – Needed her only run of the year when 7th in Class F at Feurs over 2850m on 8 March. Fitter now and is capable of an upset
Summary: It should be a very competitive finish in this opening event. MY STAR HIGHLAND (9) has had a couple of disqualifications of late but can bounce back to score if smart this time. MALICE BLEUE (7) continues to hold her form and should be a threat to these rivals. MIA FERM (5) disappointed many supporters last week but can contest the finish. MOLLY DE VISAIS (11) is another who is better than her last run would suggest and is not out of it.

  13. MISTER DE L’ETOILE – Has shown very little so far and was 11th in Class G at Caen over 2450m on 27 October. Returns from a break and could need the run
  14. MERLIN DE MALAC – Disqualified last time out in Class F at Salon-de-Provence over 3000m on 30 November. Only modest on debut and could need this run returning from a break
  15. MISSILE DU GOUTIER – Only modest so far and was 5th in Class F at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 2925m on 25 January. Needs to do a bit more to score
  16. MODIANO MAY – Probably needed the last run when 6th in Class G at Saint-Galmier over 2025m on 18 March. Has a place chance on best form
  17. MAFIOSO DRY – A surprise winner last time out in Class F at Royan La Palmyre over 2475m on 27 July. Could make the frame returning from a break
  18. MARSHALL GALAA – Needed the only run of this year when tenth in Class H at Paray-le-Monial over 2625m on 22 March. Barefoot this time and can contest the finish
  19. MICHEL ANGE – Disqualified twice in a row, the latest in Class F at Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne over 2675m on 1 March. Remains barefoot and can score if staying in stride
  20. MONT VENTOUX – Has disqualification issues and faulted last time out over this track and trip on 20 March. Barefoot this time and is capable of improvement. Place chance
