In-form Victorian sprinter gains a slot in The Quokka field

Dual Group 1 winner Jigsaw is set to head to Western Australia for next month’s Quokka after securing a slot in the $5 million sprint alongside Ladbrokes.
Fresh off his victory in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes, the Cindy Alderson-trained gelding will travel to Perth as one of the leading contenders for the April 18 feature at Ascot, with Logan Bates retaining the ride.
Jigsaw will be chasing a remarkable seventh consecutive win, a streak that dates back to October and includes top-level success in both Australia and New Zealand.
Alderson said the experienced sprinter had continued to justify the decision to take on WA’s richest race.
“Perth is a long way from home, but this horse gives us a heap of reasons to make the trip,” Alderson said.
“Jigsaw has a remarkable will to win and he’s not giving me any indications that it’s going to stop, so The Quokka gives us an incredible opportunity.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Ladbrokes, they are great supporters of racing and we are proud that Jigsaw can fly the flag.”
Ladbrokes Head of Commercial and Industry Dean Elliott said Jigsaw’s recent form made him a standout choice for the slot.
“Cindy’s done an incredible job with this horse to rise through the ranks as a seven-year-old and compete at the top level,” Elliott said.
“We knew his win in the Ladbrokes William Reid Stakes would make him popular with slot holders, so we are thankful to Cindy and the team for partnering with us.” Ladbrokes will be aiming for consecutive victories in the Quokka after last year’s success with Jokers Grin, with Jigsaw joining stablemates Dashing Slay and Don Hugo as part of the bookmaker’s Western Trilogy team.
Punters looking to back runners in the Quokka and other major sprint races can compare markets and promotions across the leading Australian betting sites to secure the best available odds.
