TOULEEN TO TAKE ROCKFEL TRIUMPH

Fine Form
A cracking day two of the Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket could be headlined by
Touleen NM – 2.25
in the BoyleSports Home Of Early Payout Rockfel Stakes.
Unbeaten and very impressive in two starts so far for Owen Burrows, this Group Two affair is obviously a step up in class – but the same could be said of her previous start.
That saw her clash with Zanthos in a midweek contest at Leicester, with the Simon and Ed Crisford runner odds-on to prevail against the selection.
The market got it wrong, however, with Touleen pretty much winning as she liked in the hands of William Buick, who rides again with Jim Crowley sidelined.
Zanthos reopposes and there are others with claims, so it will be far from easy, but Touleen might just be a really good one.
It is a while since
Opera Ballo NM – 3.00
burst onto the scene at Kempton in January and he has enjoyed a nice break since making it four wins from five starts in July.
Charlie Appleby sees him as a proper galloping type for next year, so ignore the fact his one defeat came here in the Craven, where he was far too keen for his own good, and instead expect to see him power away up the hill in the BoyleSports Daily Racing Rewards Joel Stakes.
The vibes from the
Isle Of Jura nm – 3.35
camp are that he is fit enough to do himself justice in the Boylesports Smart Race Card Godolphin Stakes.
That makes him the horse to beat, despite an absence of 461 days, his last outing being the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2024, with victory there completing a five-timer.
He was being aimed at the King George that year before injury intervened.
Elwateen NM – 1.15
drops markedly in class for the Boylesports British EBF Rosemary Stakes, where she can record a confidence-boosting victory.
A smart-looking prospect on her sole juvenile start, she confirmed that impression when an excellent fourth in the 1000 Guineas. She was a non-stayer in the Oaks after that, before disappointing in the Falmouth Stakes.
Saeed bin Suroor’s filly was entitled to be feeling her exertions in such deep waters with so little experience. Freshened up since, she can get back on track.
John and Thady Gosden’s
Miss Justice NM – 1.50
might surprise a few in the Princess Royal Stakes, while her superbly-bred stablemate
Enoch NM – 4.10
will command close market interest in the Boylesports Daily Money Back Meetings British EBF “Confined’’ Maiden Stakes.
Away from Headquarters, it will be high stakes stuff for connections of
Poker HY – 4.00
when he makes his debut in the Castle Green Homes EBF Novice Stakes over seven furlongs at Haydock.
Karl Burke’s Wootton Bassett colt cost Kia Joorabchian’s Amo Racing operation 4.3million guineas as a yearling and holds a Futurity Trophy entry.
