Fine Form
Came From Nowhere NB – 2.00
sets a very high standard for his rivals to aim at in the BetVictor Novices’ Hurdle at Newbury.
Trained by Jeremy Scott, the lightly-raced seven-year-old drops back to novice company having won a competitive handicap last time out.
He had only won an ordinary event at Hereford prior to heading to Ascot, but there was plenty of market support for him and he was sent off the 3-1 favourite. The result never looked in any doubt, either, with Lorcan Williams jumping into the lead two out before coasting up the straight, and the form has some substance.
He is carrying a double penalty against some promising types and while he has had a wind operation since he has been off, he was declared to run at Cheltenham in Grade One company before he was taken out because of the ground.
Alan King’s
Helnwein NB – 3.00
has not been seen since finishing fifth in what turned out to be a red-hot handicap at Ascot in December, which was won by subsequent County Hurdle hero Wilful.
Helnwein needs decent ground so the wet winter has prevented him from running since, but off 1lb lower he must go well.
There is a chance
Peacenik NB – 3.32
still has more improvement in him ahead of the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Handicap Hurdle.
Katy Price’s seven-year-old bolted up at the track in February and while the handicapper has had a go, putting him up 9lb, it looked warranted. That was his first run over three miles but he stayed it strongly and the drying ground is in his favour.
Inch House NB – 3.56
ran respectably in a handicap chase at Cheltenham when he was last seen so there is a chance he could outclass his rivals in the Highclere Horse Feeds Oataalin Open Hunters’ Chase, especially given Mister Coffey seemingly does not like winning.
Jonjo and A J O’Neill enjoyed a great Cheltenham Festival with two winners, signalling a return to form for the yard.
They send an interesting hurdling newcomer up to Musselburgh in
Lyric MU – 2.20
for the Racing Post+ Maiden Hurdle and he has to be of interest.
None of his rivals set an exalted standard, including Alsakib, who was rated 108 on the Flat but he has been well beaten in two hurdle races to date. Lyric could not match that Flat rating, but was running to marks in the high 80s so if he takes to it he could be useful.
Romeo Brown MU – 4.30
may be 12 but arrives on a hat-trick in the Racing Post+ Ultimate Go North Brindisi Breeze Hurdle Series Final.
Adam Nicol, who came so close to a first Grade One win in the Triumph Hurdle with Minella Study, has several interesting runners on the valuable card but best of them may be
Feach Amach MU – 5.00
in the Heritage Portfolio Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.
Adrian Keatley looks to have another project on his hands with
St Faz LI – 2.12
a winner 10 days ago at Southwell.
He bids for a double in the Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Apprentice Handicap at Lingfield having been running over fences for Gordon Elliott before his move.
Andrew Balding’s
A Taste Of Glory LI – 2.42
was running against Derby favourite Pierre Bonnard when last seen in France so should find the Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap easier.
William Haggas’
First Principle WL – 7.00
can put his fitness to good use in the SBK: Don’t Settle For Less Handicap at Wolverhampton.
