Lindsay Park has already unleashed one above-average ready-to-run purchase this season and the training team of Ben, Will and JD Hayes will be looking to make that two this Saturday.
The brothers have Stars Of Dom set to debut in the $150,000 two-year-old fillies event over 1000 metres at Sandown.
Stars Of Dom is a stablemate to Hard Kick, a son of All Too Hard who was a brilliant winner of the Listed Talindert Stakes after being bought for $140,000 out of the Inglis Ready2Race Sale.
Stars Of Dom, a daughter of Exceedance from the family of Lotteria, was bought for $80,000 out of the Magic Millions 2YOs In Training Sale and Ben Hayes said a narrow second placing in a Werribee jumpout last Friday confirmed she was ready to head to the races.
“We haven’t pushed her to be here for this race, she’s paced herself and she’s trialled up nicely,” he said.
“Her first trial was really good and then she was asked for a nice hitout at Werribee and quickened really well and went to line with a two-year-old we have a high opinion of, Carnevale.
“These two-year-old races, they can be full of debut horses or lightly-raced horses, so you don’t know but we’re hopeful with her.”
Stars Of Dom if one of two entries for the Sandown two-year-old race for Lindsay Park, which also entered Mistifyzou, a Geelong maiden winner who has finished sixth at her other three starts.
Before Sandown, the Hayes brothers will chase an even more lucrative victory with another of their juveniles.
Marffiano will be looking to stretch his record to two wins from as many starts when he contests Friday night’s $1 million Magic Millions National 2YO Classic (1000m) on the Gold Coast.
The $475,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase booked his spot with an impressive debut win in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Rush (1100m) at Bendigo on May 2 and Hayes said Friday’s Magic Millions-restricted event was too good to resist for a horse in form.
“He pulled up well (out of Bendigo), it’s a 1000-metre race for Magic Millions horses only and it’s worth $1 million,” Hayes said of the son of Home Affairs, a half-brother to Tycoon Star.
“He’s dropping back to 1000, so that’s always a query and he’s on the Sydney leg first time, but he’s a pretty well-educated horse and I think it’ll be no problems.”
