can surprise some better fancied rivals in the eventmasters.co.uk Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes at Ascot.
Charlie Johnston’s charge is a Wootton Bassett half-brother to Group One-winning juvenile and stallion star Sioux Nation, and he certainly shaped with promise on his racecourse bow when beaten six lengths in third at Pontefract in August.
The form of that run took on a pleasing look when the winner, Powerful Glory, went on to land the Mill Reef but Dash Dizzy was handed a much easier task in winning a Kempton novice in September.
Johnston felt suitably emboldened to leap up to Group One company for the Middle Park and while Dash Dizzy was over five lengths behind Shadow Of Light in third, he was only a length and a half behind Prix Morny victor Whistlejacket.
Dash Dizzy was clearly picking up momentum at the end of the term and if he can take that level of progress into his three-year-old campaign, he could be underrated with all ground seemingly suitable for him.

Coltrane AS – 2.15
for a third successive year.
Andrew Balding’s eight-year-old was an easy victor in 2023 but was made to work for his win last year, fending off Caius Chorister by a head in what proved to be the highlight of his season.
While not disgraced when fifth in the Gold Cup and third in the Prix du Cadran, Coltrane is a way short of star stayer Kyprios, but he should not need to be at his very best here with upwards of 10lb in hand on each of his three rivals.
Sardinian Warrior AS – 1.40
can make a seamless transition to turf and chalk up a fourth straight win in the eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes.
Beaten at the first attempt in 2023, the Saxon Warrior colt has not looked back since, winning three times at Southwell, most recently when beating a fine yardstick in Silver Sword, with subsequent All-Weather Championships Mile winner Storm Star back in third.
The Gosden-trained runner has a bit to find on the ratings with the likes of Docklands but while he might be short of the top level, this Listed heat should be a good test.
Partisan Hero PO – 4.05
is the pick as he makes a quick return to Pontefract for the Nars Supports The NHC Handicap.
He has gone up a total of 10lb since December after winning his last two starts, on the Kempton all weather and then at this course at the start of April.
Partisan Hero made all for a length-and-a-quarter victory on that occasion and perhaps still had a shade in hand at the line.
At Punchestown,
Galopin Des Champs PU – 5.30
can atone for his Cheltenham defeat in the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup while
Honesty Policy PO – 4.15
can get the better of Festival victor Jasmin De Vaux in the Channor Real Estate Group Novice Hurdle.
