Fine Form
Star Velocity FF – 3.30
can reap the benefit of her debut experience when she contests the Diplomat Hotel Maiden Stakes at Ffos Las.
In keeping with plenty of Ralph Beckett’s newcomers, it took a while for the penny to drop in her first proper test on the all-weather at Southwell midway through last month.
But after Edward Greatrex had allowed time to work things out for herself the filly ran on fast and late to finish two and a half lengths back in third.
While that may not have been the toughest contest with the second and fifth not doing much for the form since, there are genuine grounds to believe with that experience under her belt she could take a big leap forward.
The booking of Rossa Ryan hardly weakens the argument that she will be ready to give her best here.
Oxfordshire trainer John Gallagher can register a winner with
Dreambird Dolly LE – 3.24
in the Join Racing TV Today Handicap over the minimum trip at Leicester.
The four-year-old filly showed her liking for this venue two runs ago winning off a 5lb lower mark and can be forgiven a run at Windsor last time when she was squeezed out of contention at the start.
It’s Debatable BE – 3.17
probably bumped into a smart horse for Hamilton on his third run, going down by a neck to William Haggas’ Kahin with the pair over six lengths clear of the field.
But the flip side is that he probably saved himself a few pounds for his handicap debut in the Malcolm Greenslade Doncaster LVA Stalwart Memorial Handicap at Beverley.
Connor Beasley resumes the partnership for the in-form Ed Bethell stable and an extra furlong here looks likely to be up his street.
Lever Up BE – 3.48
rattled up the hill at Carlisle last time out behind the prolific Jim Goldie mare Krissy and off the same mark should go close in the Beverley Annual Badgeholders Handicap.
Andrew Balding sends
Fast Track BE – 2.17
on the long journey north from Kingsclere for the EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes and should be rewarded.
Third on her Goodwood debut, subsequent Group Two winner Senorita Bonita then only beat her by a short head at Nottingham.
She was out of her depth in the Queen Mary at Ascot but definitely sets the standard in this.
