French Selections Friday 9th
R1 CABOURG [R-H] C1 – PRIX DES COREOPSIS – 2725m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000 1. KOZIELLO DE LOU – Got back in the game when 2nd of 6 in a 2875m Enghien Class D just over 3 weeks ago. Unshod-all-4 this time and looks competitively well-in 2. KALINKA CASTELETS – Disappointing since imposing at Vincennes early-June, latterly 6th of 9 in a 2475m Royan Class D mid-July. Benefits from a good draw but others still preferred 3. KOMMUNES DE PLAY – Runner-up in 3 of last 5, most recently in a Class D over course and distance on 23 July. Takes on her elders this time but from the 3-spot can still play a prominent role 4. JEU DE MOTS – Unlucky 6th of 12 in a 2750m Class F here 2.5 weeks ago and, if still on the boil, can take advantage of the draw and give this a good go. Place chance 5. KARNAC WOOD – Opened his 2024 account in a 2575m Class D at Agen-Le Passage on 22 June. Comes here fresh, with Franck Nivard reining, and will justifiably garner the lion’s share of support 6. JAMAIQUE DAIRPET – 2nd at Le Mont-Saint-Michel before coming good 4th of 13 in a 2725m Lisieux Class F on 4 July. Is proven here and looks closest rival to KARNAC WOOD (5) 7. KIDY D’EPONA – Sanctioned in a 2875m Enghien monté Class D last Saturday. Here for a change of scenery and can be disregarded 8. KEN DU POMMEREUX – Off the boil for past 2 seasons, most recently sanctioned in a 2750m Class D here a week ago and, barefoot or not, has no possible chance 9. JALANSKI – Reliability not his strong suit but won a 3450m Agon-Coutainville Class F on 28 July. Not ideally-drawn, but reverts to his recent Cabourg configuration, and is still worth retaining for a first-5 cheque 10. KARA DE PADD – Has twice failed to confirm her early-July Cabourg success, latterly 8th of 11 in a 2150m Enghien Class D on 31 July, and from the 2nd row is unlikely to spring any surprises 11. JOHNNY BE GOOD ER – Seldom disappoints when focused, most recently close 2nd of 8 in a 2150m Argentan Class E mid-July. Is new to the venue, and starts on the back row, but will be one to watch if Clément Frecelle manages to keep him trotting 12. JIMBO SPORT – Sanctioned in 5 of last 6, latterly a Class F over course and distance mid-July, and will not be influencing the result Summary: Not once out of the first three since his victorious debut, KARNAC WOOD (5) has returned in excellent shape this season and has every chance of confirming his recent Agen success. Starting just to his outside, JAMAIQUE DAIRPET (6) is plainly close to her race and, reunited with Paul Ploquin, will be no pushover. Denied a passage when full of running here last month, JEU DE MOTS (4) is well-positioned behind the car and will not be far off the mark if Léo Balu keeps him out of trouble. Barefoot for the first time, KOZIELLO DE LOU (1) tends to go well for Yoann Lebourgeois and his recent Enghien performance stands him in good stead. SELECTIONS KARNAC WOOD (5) – JAMAIQUE DAIRPET (6) – JEU DE MOTS (4) – KOZIELLO DE LOU (1) C2 – PRIX DES LISERONS – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000 1. JOURNAC DIESCHOOT – Not the luckiest when 5th of 14 in a Class F over track and trip 10 days ago. Seldom disappoints when focused though and on good behaviour, can pick up a place cheque 2. JACKSON D’ECAJEUL – Quality trotter whose recent 11th of 12 over course and distance can be ignored. Is clearly in cracking form and can set the record straight 3. JUNKIES MINDS – Shod to preference after faulting, when favourite, in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class E 10 days ago. In marginally better company this time and others easier to back 4. JOKER DU MATCH – Has not stepped a foot wrong this season, latterly 4th of 10 in a competitive Class D over track and trip 2 weeks ago, and will be competitive for a place payday 5. INVICTUS DE NILREM – Last of 9 in a 2700m Luxé Class F last weekend and already looks out of his depth 6. JOSELITO DU VIVIER – Made short work of a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago and, with application, should have the hat-trick in the bag 7. IRMINIO KILY – Trotted 2nd over 2725m here early-July before coming an unlucky 7th in a Class D over course and distance a fortnight later, but can put things right if Franck Nivard stays out of trouble 8. JEAN NO DU MARGAS – Never far from faulting but pleasant 4th of 11 in a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine on 21 July. Not a priority but, with application, can play a small part 9. JACADI D’ARGILIN – Well-entered here but will need to improve on his mid-July 5th of 8 in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class E Summary: A very tough nut to crack when unshod and focused, JOSELITO DU VIVIER (6) scored a 2nd straight when imposing with authority here 3 weeks ago and in similar form, will take all the beating. JACKSON D’ECAJEUL (2) won twice recently, including at Cabourg, before enduring a difficult trip later last month, but sports front pads this time and will be expected to make amends. JOURNAC DIESCHOOT (1) is better than his recent result would suggest and the revised shoeing formula may be just what the doctor ordered. JOKER DU MATCH (4) simply cannot be faulted at present and has a realistic chance of trotting his way onto the podium. SELECTIONS JOSELITO DU VIVIER (6) – JACKSON D’ECAJEUL (2) – JOURNAC DIESCHOOT (1) – JOKER DU MATCH (4) C3 – PRIX DES CEDRES – 2050m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000 1. HELIUM VELCO – Briefly lost his way before holding off HOPE YOU CAN (7) to win a 2150m Argentan Class E mid-July. Appreciates a mobile start and is not incapable of doubling his money 2. HANDZARO DU BOCAGE – Has been knocking at the door over past 2 months, latterly 2nd of 11 in a 2750m Class D here a week ago. In better company this time but will nevertheless have his supporters 3. IRRESISTIBLE PAJ – Currently enjoying a fine run of form, latterly 2nd of 13 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Handed a good draw and although not a priority, he breaks from the 3-spot and must be respected 4. HORS SAISON – Good 4th of 10 finishers in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class E a fortnight ago. Goes over any trip and, in current form, is hard to ignore 5. ITRO – Made up for a brace of modest efforts when a tenacious 3rd of 9 in a 2500m Class F at La Rochelle 11 days ago. Has a lot going for him here and is in with a fine chance of imposing 6. IBANQUE LEBEL – Tricky character that won a 2900m Amiens Class E in good order last week. The draw will pose no problem in this small field and, if focused, will be no easy touch 7. HOPE YOU CAN – Ran 2nd to HELIUM VELCO (1) at Argentan before coming 6th of 10 behind HORS SAISON (4) when preparing for this in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class E 2 weeks ago. Shoes off this time and despite the draw, will have his chances 8. ILCAPITANO DU PARC – As solid as a rock since the spring, most recently 2nd of 7 in a 2825m Durtal Class E mid-July. Steps up in category though and not an obvious choice this time 9. HUNMEC SOMOLLI – Last but one in a 2625m Class F at Saint-Jean-de-Monts last weekend. Front pads fitted this time but can still expect to remain friendless 10. HATALANTE DE FLO – Steps back into the professional ranks after faulting in a 2750m amateurs Class F here 10 days ago, and is biting off more than she can chew Summary: A number of horses in contention for this speed test but, given how he preformed at La Rochelle recently, ITRO (5) gets the nod. Cédric Terry will still be wary of recent Argentan winner HELIUM VELCO (1), who has the inside line, and the less well-placed, but barefoot, HOPE YOU CAN (7) who finished a close runner-up to him that day. Twice a winner in June, HORS SAISON (4) held her own last time out and the good draw will only enhance her prospects. SELECTIONS ITRO (5) – HELIUM VELCO (1) – HOPE YOU CAN (7) – HORS SAISON (4) C4 – PRIX BRUNO COQUATRIX – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 33,000 1. HORACIO DE CERISY – Gave an encouraging account when 5th of 11 finishers in a Class D over track and trip a week ago. Is 25m better off this time and unlikely to disappoint 2. HEMILIO PIERJI – Would have finished closer than 7th behind HORACIO DE CERISY (1) in a Class D over course and distance a week ago had he not faulted. Is better-known for his amateur exploits but, from the front line, looks a player here 3. FAST AND TONIC – Back in the professional ranks after finishing a valiant 5th of 14 in an amateurs Class F over course and distance 10 days ago. Starts in front but is still not up to the task 4. HERA DU DONJON – Failed to confirm her good Royan effort when 7th of 10 in a 2950m Dinan Class F last weekend and will have nothing to contribute 5. FOR DADDY – Last of 10 in a 2950m Dinan Class F last weekend. Has been out of sorts for some time and will not be ruffling any feathers 6. HUNADORA – Honest mare that finished 8th of 12 in a 2700m Graignes Class F a fortnight ago. Has solid Cabourg references though and should not be overlooked 7. FOREVER STONE – 3rd of 5 finishers in a 2900m Amiens monté Class F a month ago. Has other priorities and can be ruled out 8. GLOIRE ROYALE – Returns to racing barefoot after coming 8th of 10 in a 3125m Questembert Class F last weekend. Has never excelled here but can still pick up a thin slice of the pie 9. GENET DE BOITRON – 5th of 8, behind GUIGNOL DE CHARDET (12), in a 2400m Amiens Class D last week. Incurs the penalty this time though and chances limited 10. ELEVEN SHAPTER – Out of the picture in first 4 this term before coming a surprising 3rd of 12 in a 2800m Bernay Class E late last month. Boasts excellent Cabourg credentials and should not be written off…

French Selections Friday 2nd
R1 CABOURG [R-H] C1 – PRIX DES ARNOSERIS – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000 1. JAVA FAST – Like a horse reborn since being associated with Lebourgeois, winning last 2, latterly a 2900m Amiens Class E on 11 July, and the hat-trick is well within her capacity 2. ISEA DU QUENNE – Got back in the winners circle on 22 July, winning a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F, but in this field, will have nothing to offer 3. JOLIE NANA – Unraced since coming 3rd of 11 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class E on 9 June. Has yet to make her mark racing right-handed and is not about to start 4. JEMILLIA BELLA – Has not been seen out since finishing 9th of 11 in a 2100m Vincennes claimer mid-January. Shoes on and no threat 5. JALOUSIE MAZA – Sanctioned in a 2875m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago. Boasts an 80% win-rate going clockwise and with Benjamin Rochard reining, can extend that percentage 6. JADE VENESI – Ran 2nd at Agen before coming 8th of 14 in a 2800m Bernay Class E early last month. Shod as she was on penultimate start and will be expected to get back in the game 7. JOYCE DREAM – Not without merit but below-par 7th of 8 behind JUNON DE LOU (9) in a 2875m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago and will need to show marked improvement 8. JACINTHE DU BOIRON – Not once out of first 2 in past 12 months. Runner-up to JAVA FAST (1) in a 2900m Amiens Class E on 11 July and, although unlikely to turn the tables, can still challenge for a place on the podium 9. JUNON DE LOU – Sanctioned in 2 before coming 4th of 8 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 13 July. Has solid right-handed references and looks competitive for a place in the frame 10. JOYCE DE LA COUR – Faithful servant that came 5th of 11 in a 2200m Le Mans Class D mid-July. Has never shown much liking for Cabourg and represents no more than a minor place prospect 11. JUVENIA DU CLOSET – Last of 9, on re-entry, in a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel a fortnight ago. Sports a new configuration for return to a track she likes and is not to be overlooked Summary: A fine servant with a terrific record racing right-handed, JALOUSIE MAZA (5) will be expected to bounce back from her Enghien sanction and bring home the bacon. She will still meet resistance from JAVA FAST (1) who is on a hat-trick for Yoann Lebourgeois, and JACINTHE DU BOIRON (8) who has picked up where she left off in the spring. The complicated JUNON DE LOU (9) reassured at Enghien 3 weeks ago and, given her aptitude for racing clockwise, will be no soft touch. SELECTIONS JALOUSIE MAZA (5) – JAVA FAST (1) – JACINTHE DU BOIRON (8) – JUNON DE LOU (9) C2 – PRIX DES HETRES – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 45,000 1. JOCKEY – Somewhat unlucky but still never up to the task when sanctioned in a Class D over course and distance a week ago. Hind shoes off this time but still appears to be out of his depth 2. JASMIN DU VALLON – 3rd of 9 in a Class D over course and distance a fortnight ago. Takes on a better bunch this time but is plainly in form and is unlikely to go home empty-handed 3. JAB DE MYE – Unremarkable sort that finished last but one in a 2875m Enghien Class B 2 weeks ago and will have few friends 4. JASON DU CONROY – Last of 11 finishers in Bernay race of reference. Has other priorities and will have nothing to contribute 5. JOYCE DELTO – 3rd of 9 in a 2475m Royan Class E mid-July. Newly-configured for a big step up in category but is unlikely to spring any surprises 6. JE REVE DU BOIS – Has not been seen out since coming 2nd of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B early-April. Has solid right-handed references, sports front pads for re-entry, and should give a competitive account 7. JET EXPRESS – Notable 5th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Gr.3 on 6 July. Untried at this level but has references against many of these and, given the stable’s form, is not to be underestimated 8. JUST FOR BACK – 8th of 11, behind JAG STRYCK (11), in Bernay race of reference. Preparing for a campaign under the saddle though and can be passed over 9. JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL – Unraced since winning a 2850m Vincennes Gr.2 3 months ago, but thrives with Franck Nivard, has never disappointed at Cabourg, and will take all the beating 10. JASPER DES CHARMES – Sanctioned in last 4, most recently a 2800m Bernay Class B freshener last weekend. New pilot at the controls and must be taken more seriously this time around 11. JAG STRYCK – Quality element that did not displease when 5th of 11 finishers in a 2800m Bernay Class B last Sunday. Has come close more than once at this level, came 2nd on lone start here, and is not going to be far off the mark 12. JACK TONIC – Reassuring 2nd of 11 finishers in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec early-June after having been disqualified in Prix Albert Demarcq. Incurs the penalty but still looks principal danger to JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL (9) Summary: An absolute revelation this season, JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL (9) makes his first appearance since winning the Gr.2 Prix Albert Demarcq 3 months ago and has every chance of pulling off the 6-timer. That being said, JACK TONIC (12) is an exceptional campaigner when focused, comes here fresh and, even from the 2nd line, looks the main threat. JET EXPRESS (7) may not be an obvious choice considering his recent numbers but he has proven form against a number of these and looks an interesting candidate. The Gr.1-winning, and barefoot, JASPER DES CHARMES (10) has been struggling with stride issues lately but the engagement of Yoann Lebourgeois may be just the ticket to his redemption. SELECTIONS JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL (9) – JACK TONIC (12) – JET EXPRESS (7) – JASPER DES CHARMES (10) C3 – PRIX DES HELIANTHES – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class F Amateur Riders Race – Mounted – EUR € 24,000 1. COMAND – Makes first appearance under the saddle after coming 2nd of 10 in a 3025m Luçon Class F on 21 July. Hind shoes off but still appears to be facing a stiff test 2. IQUEM NARCY – Capricious sort that reassured when 3rd in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class G on 21 July and, with application, is unlikely to disappoint 3. ISIDORE BONHEUR – Has 3 times failed to confirm his Cavaillon success, latterly 7th of 10 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E on Monday and, even reverting to a previous formula, will still need to find more 4. HATE YOU BEYLEV – Made it 2 in a row when successful in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class H on 22 July. Races shod this time but can still put on a good show. Place chance 5. HONNEUR DE BRY – 8th of 11 in a 2475m Royan Class G 12 days ago. Sports a new configuration but others still preferred 6. ICARE DU TRESOR – Missed out by little in a Class F over course and distance mid-July. Hard to knock in the day’s configuration and will be expected to give INDIGO BEACH (7) a run for his money 7. INDIGO BEACH – Secured the hat-trick in a 3100m La Gacilly Class H on 21 July. Has hardly put a foot wrong since early-May and it is difficult to envisage him being bested 8. IBILI D’OCCAGNES – Has returned to competition in fine shape, most recently 2nd of 8 in a 2750m Class F at La Capelle on 9 July. Front shoes off this time and can play a leading role if Inès Fraigne keeps him trotting 9. GISARO – Sprang a 156/1 surprise when 6th of 16 in a competitive Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago, and is not incapable of repeating 10. HIDALGO DAIRPET – Sports 4 pads for the first time after faulting in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class G on 21 July, and has no possible chance Summary: A veritable steamroller over the past 3 months, INDIGO BEACH (7) came 2nd under these conditions before winning 3 on the trot, and is an obvious preference here. Andrea Roussel will still be expecting opposition from the fine ICARE DU TRESOR (6) who is clearly close to his race, and the omnipresent IBILI D’OCCAGNES (8) who will be dangerous if he stays in stride. HATE YOU BEYLEV (4) steps up in category in search of the 3-timer and although unlikely to pull it off with shoes back on, should nevertheless figure prominently. SELECTIONS INDIGO BEACH (7) – ICARE DU TRESOR (6) – IBILI D’OCCAGNES (8) – HATE YOU BEYLEV (4) C4 – PRIX DES LYCOPODES – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 37,000 1. HANDZARO DU BOCAGE – Placed 4 times in succession before coming 6th of 11 in a 2650m Pornichet Class E 2 weeks ago and, in this company, is unlikely to ruffle any feathers 2. GARD – On a decent run of form this summer, and sports modified shoeing, but will need to improve on recent 6th to HASARD D’ERABLE (11) in a 2850m Bréhal Class E on 22 July 3. HEMERA TURGOT – Pleases occasionally but off the boil for some time, most recently sanctioned in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class E late last month, and can be ruled out 4. HORACIO DE CERISY – 8th of 12 in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class F a month ago. Starts in front, with a leading driver at the helm, and has a realistic chance of making the frame this time 5. HEMILIO PIERJI – Last but one in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class E last week. Hard to fault when racing clockwise though and makes his Cabourg debut with a realistic chance of picking up a first-5 cheque 6. GIGI DES NEUF CLOS – Excellent in 3 before oddly flopping to last of 15 in a 2800m Vichy Class F on 2 July. Most likely a blip on the radar and will be expected to bounce back and finish in the mix 7. HABIBI – 2nd in an amateur event here before coming 4th of 9 in a 2900m Amiens Class F a fortnight ago. Yoann Lebourgeois reining this time and will be no easy touch 8. GOOD FRIEND – Unplaced in last 6 starts, latterly 6th of 14 in a 2600m Le Touquet Class F last Sunday, and will need to raise his game…
