Big-race preview & tips: Scottish Grand National

We have tips and views from connections for the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr.
BALLYGRIFFINCOTTAGE (Andrew Asquith)
Ballygrifincottage has seemingly had his problems in the past, but he took a big step back in the right direction when narrowly beaten at Sandown last time, and some of his form earlier in his career is strong. He shapes as though he’ll relish this step up to a marathon trip, and the return to a left-handed track may also help him (best form when going left-handed), so he is fancied to go well at a fair price.
GIT MAKER (David Ord)
He pulled 18 lengths clear of the rest when chasing home subsequent Grade One winner Inothewayurthinkin in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham and from an unchanged mark, GIT MAKER makes loads of appeal. Jamie Snowden’s charge is relatively fresh having had only three starts this term and remain unexposed over longer distances. If in the same form as last time he’ll take a bit of beating.
AUTONOMOUS CLOUD (Ben Linfoot)
Has shaped like a horse with a marathon handicap chase in him on several occasions, including last time when fourth in the Midlands version. Gets a pull at the weights with the trio who finished in front of him that day and the slight drop in trip on better conditions looks in his favour.
INIS OIRR (Matt Brocklebank)
Lucinda Russell’s INIS OIRR was wildly impressive in the first-time visor when last seen at Musselburgh, turning the Edinburgh National into an absolute route, and the fact he went up 14lb in one fell swoop doesn’t put me off at all. It does mean he gets into this valuable contest off a lovely racing weight, without needing another run, and I reckon he’s a young, improving stayer with a big future.
