‘Applause’ to ring out for ‘Rosa’ and a ‘Plan!’

Yesterday felt like summer had arrived, sunbathing in my garden (for the first time this year!) had me dreaming about the beauty of our merry month of May; then I switched focus to racing fixtures this week and noticed ”heavy’ at both Northern venues, Redcar/Doncaster, which of course meant scrutiny of two ‘standard’ all-weather polytrack programmes at Lingfield and Chelmsford, where once-raced winner Lautrec is certain attract the ‘big-hitting brigade’ in the opening Novice Stakes over ten furlongs
Obviously it’s boring for some to continually be reading about racing on artificial surfaces but my moodus operandi has enabled punter-readers to profit nigh every month for years by virtue of rigidly sticking to selections with a solid staking system; purpose is to obtain results and it will not be achieved ‘guessing’ on demanding turf surfaces.
Statistics, frequently revealed, prove these have been the toughest past ten months in history due to ruinous rains which have caused flooding havoc; earlier this week Nottingham was called off for waterlogging, the day before I basked!
Actually we have promise of a lovely spell and so, possibly in a week or so, I’ll be discussing ‘proper racing’ as so many call it but, they are losing out by being obstinate and lacking patience to wait for Newmarket, Chester and York where the best thoroughbreds on this planet will be competing for tremendous prize-money.
Lautrec does indeed look another ‘steering job’ for the recently formed John Gosden/Kieren Shoemark trainer-jockey combination, according to the time-handicap, but penalties do have a habit of causing upsets and

shaped encouragingly first-up at Newbury last month finishing six lengths 7th (of 14) at Newbury over a similar distance.
On my figures Planthera needs to improve 7lbs but may indeed do so under earnest championship-challenging Silvestre de Souza who is likely to be given positive instructions by Arundel-based trainer David Menuisier; Lautrec hasn’t been seen since scrambling home by a short-head on Newcastle Tapeta last November, over a mile!
Realistically Planthera is an ‘each-way bet to nothing’ as we say because others are unlikely to be trying 100%!
At the Surrey venue the six-runner Fillies’ Novice Stakes over six furlongs looks a match between

and Dance And Romance; preference is for the former on actual time-figures.
