Giavellotto is on track to return to the scene of his finest hour when he will be tasked with defending his Boodles Yorkshire Cup title.
Marco Botti’s star stayer thrived at York in 2023, where his victory over Eldar Eldarov during the Dante meeting highlighted his high-class staying potential.
After running respectably in the Goodwood Cup, he returned to the Knavesmire to again finish in the money in the Lonsdale Cup and two encouraging displays in the Middle East this winter have left Newmarket-based Italian Botti excited to return the five-year-old to his favourite part of Yorkshire.
“He’s back in full work and has recovered well from Dubai and it has always been the plan to go back to York,” said Botti.
“I do think one mile and six furlongs is the ideal trip for him. It’s not like he does not stay two miles, but it does stretch him a little bit and York would be the obvious target.
“At the moment, we are on schedule and we are planning to run him there. He is in good shape and we are definitely happy with him.”
