Melbourne stayer set to Shock Queensland

Trainer Alex Rae has confirmed Shock ‘Em Ova will be heading north to Queensland in the coming weeks, following his impressive performance at Caulfield on Saturday.
The win was a dominant one, with Shock ‘Em Ova ($4.50) ridden by Dean Yendall overcoming a difficult position near the fence to surge past the competition and win by nearly three lengths.
“It was a stunning performance visually,” Rae said.
While Queensland is on the cards, Rae emphasises that Shock ‘Em Ova’s spring campaign remains the priority.
“He will definitely head to Queensland, even if it’s just for the nice weather as we gear up towards spring,” Rae said.
“We plan to run him in the Lord Mayor Stakes and then the Q22. But everything we do will continue to revolve around the spring. It’s probably a good opportunity to start testing the waters with him against some better opposition, we’re looking at a race here in spring over a mile-and-a-half for him.”
Rae acknowledges Shock ‘Em Ova’s potential, but remains grounded.
“I haven’t had any horses at the top level, but we’ve always believed he could potentially head in that direction. I’m not sure how good he is, but he’s the best I’ve had.”
