3. LETWAR – 4th last time on the flat at Fontainebleau over 1600m in a claiming race on April 30th. Place chance

4. LEGACY LINK – Has several unplaced runs on the flat and over hurdles, the latter over 3400m in a Class 3 hurdle race at Lyon Parilly on May 9th. Looks vulnerable

5. LINER DE GUYE – 4th on debut two runs ago on the flat at Moulins on April 14th. Best watched on hurdling debut

6. DEVIL IS BACK – Was leading at La Teste when unseating his rider last time on April 10th over 3400m in a hurdle race. Can not be overlooked

7. LECOSTO – Good 2nd on his debut on May 9th at Royan over 2900m on the flat. Can win on hurdling debut

8. ATHOS DU MOULIN – Newcomer by Montgolfier, the dam won four times over hurdles and fences. One to watch in the betting for clues

9. JOLY JIL – Two unplaced runs so far over hurdles, the latter at Moulins over 3500m on May 5th. Hard to recommend

10. PRIVATE JOKE – 2nd last time on the flat over 3100m at Divonne on April 21st. Ought to be thereabouts on hurdle race debut

Summary: LECOSTO (7) made a pleasing debut when he was second at Royan over 2900m earlier this month on the flat. He can score on his hurdling debut. DEVIL IS BACK (6) unseated his jockey three flights from home at La Teste last time when leading. He can have a say with a clear round of jumping. PRIVATE JOKE (10) is also one to consider on her hurdling debut after a nice effort when second last time at Divonne in late April. ITALIAN FLIGHT (2) heads the remainder.

SELECTIONS

4. DONE DEAL – Won nicely on the sole run so far at Chantilly over 2100m on April 29th. Can make good progress from that outing. Player

5. LET THE MUSIC PLAY – Fair 3rd over 2150m at Lyon La Soie last time on January 3rd. Needs a good deal of improvement to feature

6. TECHNO BEAT – 4th last time over 2400m at Lyon Parilly on May 9th on her second run. Others rate higher

Summary: DONE DEAL (4) gets the marginal vote in a small but select field of runners. He won nicely on his only run at Chantilly in late April and can improve from that pleasing effort.  DSCHINGIS DREAM (1) did what was asked when scoring last time at Angers earlier this month and has more to come. GLOBAL HEALTH (2) is also in the mix after a facile six-length win at this track last time and on his seasonal return.

5. ILBAO – Won two runs ago over 4800m at Moulins on September 17th in a cross-country race. Others preferred

9. BREXIT FLIGHT – 4th last time over 3800m at Wissembourg in a Class 4 handicap hurdle on May 20th. Opposable

10. ZUCKERPRINZ – Three unplaced runs of late, 4th before that over 4200m at Vittel on August 10th in a handicap chase. Hard to fancy

Summary: TERRE ETOILEE (7) looks to be a better chase than he was over hurdles and can follow up on a win at Orleans and get the job done here. JOUVANCELLE (3) was second in a Class 5 race at Orleans when last seen over fences and looks like the main threat today. BORN TO BE A QUEEN (2) has been competing in cross-country races of late and might enjoy the switch back to regulation fences. VOLKOV JELOIS (1) is also worth a mention.

SELECTIONS
TERRE ETOILEE (7) – JOUVANCELLE (3) – BORN TO BE A QUEEN (2) – VOLKOV JELOIS (1)

16. NANA GINA – Well held in 3rd position over track/trip in a Class 3 limited handicap on the 8th of May 2024. More needed to feature

Summary: In a wide open handicap with many winning hopes, a chance is taken on WOOT CITY (2) to bounce back from a rather disappointing recent effort and on his overall form, he looks a solid chance.  JAZZMEN (3) had his first run for the year last time out and would have tightened up significantly with that effort under his belt so could go very close. MYKISS (6) was another that wasn’t seen in the best light last time out and he should go very well. TRES ROCK WOMEN (5) arrives in cracking form and will make her presence felt in a big way.

SELECTIONS

10. IHOA – Moderate performance in 5th position over 1400m at Chantilly in a limited handicap on the 17th of May 2024. Easy to look elsewhere

Summary: XAARINE (3) romped home to victory at his latest start and could be hard to stop once again given the lack of opposition. SEVENTH WONDER (8) is 2.5kgs better off with the reopposing Xaarine but that may not be enough to turn the form around.  SWEET DREAMS (6) goes handicapping and can run a better race. CORMORAN (1) could run into the money on handicap debut.

11. DOS DE MAYO – 4th two runs ago over 1350m in a Class 4 handicap on May 1st at Wissembourg. Looks vulnerable

Summary: In a race that will not take much winning it may pay to side with LEEROY GOLD (6) who ran well in a Class 4 handicap last time in early May over 1350m when finishing fourth. He can score from SO GOLD (2) who ran a reasonable race in a Class 3 handicap at this track when last seen on May 8th. KAMINO (1) is one for the each-way backers to take seriously. EL BNOUD (5) makes up the shortlist.

Summary: ALPENJAGER (7) is the class package in this race and sets the standard on his Group form. He certainly won’t be fully wound for this assignment but his class could pull him through. CASSIUS (2) is better than his last and will be waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces if the top pick has to fluff his lines.  VEIL OF SHADOWS (5) can build on his only run in France to date and could get involved. Summary: SAINT LANGIS (5) arrives in solid consistent form and sets quite a decent standard in this contest. He should get the right run in transit and will go very close to adding another win to his tally. VIZINDI (7) won with a bit in hand last time out and with some weight off the back, there is every reason to believe he can follow up. INNIS (6) was well held in 2nd but was clear of the rest of the field at his latest outing so could get involved. DIANA (2) is held by Innis and could place.

C1 – PRIX DE ROQUANCOURT – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Mounted – EUR € 24,000

1. LATINO BOY – Untried gelding that qualified in 1’20”0 here last November.  No fireworks anticipated but with Alexandre Abrivard riding, will be afforded every chance

2. LEON DE LA COURBE – Qualified nicely in 1’18”9 at Meslay-du-Maine a fortnight back. Is unlikely to be given a hard race but will be one to monitor for the future

3. LATINUS DU PRE – Switches codes after failing to make any impression in the other discipline, latterly sanctioned in a 2850m Laval Class F 12 days ago, and can be ruled out

4. LITTLEBOY DE PLANY – Pleasantly surprised at Laon before faulting in a 2175m Vincennes Class D mid-month. Returns to racing clockwise, races with hind pads, and can make up for his recent Vincennes sanction

5. LABEL DE LARRE – Has taken relatively well to his new vocation, most recently 3rd of 5 in a 2200m Vichy Class E a fortnight ago, but still has more to find

6. LOOK DE LA COTE – Solid 2nd to LOTI SOLO (8) in May race of reference when fitted with 4 pads and associated with Mathieu Mottier. Has a lot of improvement in him and the wherewithal to trot his way into the frame

7. LOUXOR DE JOUB – 3rd to LUCIFER D’ORPHEE (9) last month before faulting, when assured 3rd, behind LOTI SOLO (8) on 5 May. Shoes back on and no more than a minor place prospect

8. LOTI SOLO – Showed a different side on monté debut earlier in the month, walking away with a Class E over course and distance. In marginally better company this time but still looks a player

9. LUCIFER D’ORPHEE – Facile winner over track and trip last month before faulting in a 2800m Chartres Class D 3 weeks ago. Is back under the saddle and will be expected to keep his unbeaten monté status intact

10. LORD CATH – Sanctioned in 3 of 4 to date, latterly a 2700m Vincennes Class C early this month. Has bags of ability though, races with 4 pads fitted for the first time, and is not incapable of setting the cat among the pigeons

11. LEON DU CLOS – Moderate 4th on debut in Paris before flying up in a 2250m Maure-de-Bretagne Class E on 12 May, and with form maintained, can repeat

12. LAUREL LA RAVELLE – 2nd to LUCIFER D’ORPHEE (9) on monté debut before trotting last of 9 in a 2275m Nantes harness Class D 3 weeks ago, and can expect to have few friends

Summary: Impressive winner on monté debut under these conditions earlier in the month, LUCIFER D’ORPHEE (9) returns to the code after prepping under harness and can confirm, provided Anthony Barrier keeps him trotting. LEON DU CLOS (11) showed a marked change in form recently and should be able to give him a run for his money. LOTI SOLO (8) opened his monté account here, at the first time of asking, and must be afforded considerable respect. LOOK DE LA COTE (6) came in a place behind him that day and is not about to let the side down.

C2 – PRIX DE JORT – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class E Amateur Riders Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. JACKPOT DE JUMILLY – 5th of 12 in a 2800m Tours Class F on 12 May. Appears to be close to his best and is sufficiently well-placed to apply the pressure on JIDEO STREET (8)

2. JUST D’ACADIE – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2700m Vincennes Class E on 3 May. Well-placed in front but still not an obvious choice

3. JOULE DE LA FYE – Unraced since coming last but one in a 2625m Class E at La Rochelle on 24 March. Is placed well in front but chances slim at best

4. JOKER DU LYS – 6th of 10 in a 2600m Morlaix Class F on 12 May. Has a top spot behind the car and, on good behaviour, can get in on the action

5. JAGUAR DE BELFOND – 7th of 12 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F on Sunday. Shoes on and backs up with little chance of influencing the result

6. JACK DU CEBE – Was on a fine run of form before enduring a tough trip when 7th of 8 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E 10 days ago. Starts on the front line and, although not a leading contender, can still play a role

7. JOAQUIM DIESCHOOT – 3rd in a monté Class E over course and distance last week. Has other priorities and poses no danger

8. JIDEO STREET – 2nd of 13 , on comeback, in a 2750m Class F at Le Grand-Fougeray 3 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run, is proven here, and can secure his 2nd success of 2024

9. JEDI DE CAHOT – Steps back up in class after trotting 3rd of 10 in a 2150m Enghien claimer on 2 May, and the draw will do him no favours

10. JAOUEN – Disappointing 8th of 11 finishers in a 2400m Amiens Class E earlier in the month but returns to a more suitable trip with a reasonable chance of picking up a place cheque

11. JOS DU PILET – Very disappointing over recent months, latterly 9th of 11 in a 2700m Graignes Class E last Friday, and can expect to have few friends

12. JOLICOEUR DU MIREL – Won under these conditions late-March but below-par in last 2, most recently last of 9 finishers in a 2600m Meslay-du-Maine Class E 2 weeks ago, and can be passed over

13. JOE LE VEINARD – Sanctioned in a 2400m Amiens Class E in early-May. Just front pads fitted this time and others preferred

14. JAZZY ABSOLUTE – Last of 7 in a 2550m Class E at Gournay-en-Bray last week and can be disregarded

15. JACK HERER – Makes his first appearance since trotting 6th of 12, a place behind JAOUEN (10), in a 2650m Laval Class E early-March. Is in his category though and will have his chances if William Plaire positions him early

16. JOKER DU MATCH – Returned to victorious ways in a 2400m Amiens Class F early-April. Comes here fresh and, despite the unattractive draw, can get a look-in

Summary: Barring an early-year mishap at Vincennes, JIDEO STREET (8) has been in cracking form and even though drawn wide, still looks the horse to beat. Reliability may not be his strong suit but JACKPOT DE JUMILLY (1) has started to show signs of a return to form and will be no pushover. JACK HERER (15) was at the back of the queue for the draw but he is better than most here, has hind shoes off, and should not be far from the action. JAOUEN (10) is significantly better than recent results would suggest and, with just front pads fitted this time, can start to redeem himself.

1. KHALEESI DE MALAC – Has done nothing of note for some time, latterly sanctioned in a 2800m  Villedieu-les-Poëles claimer on 20 May, and can be ruled out

2. KUZA DU BOUILLON – Debuts at the venue after trotting 5th to KISS AND FORGET (9) in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago and is not about to shake things up

3. KYA D’ERABLE – Last of 10 in a 2450m Caen Class E on 18 May. Will have progressed, sports a new configuration, and is not to be underestimated

4. KERAMIDA – Unimpressive in all 3 starts since the break, most recently sanctioned in a 2750m Angoulême Class F mid-month, and can be passed over

5. KUEEN DE TILLARD – Below-par in 2 after winning at Toulouse earlier in the year, latterly 9th of 10 on first start since the spell. Will have come on for the run and, in this company, represents a decent first-5 prospect

6. KIMIE CASTELETS – Disappointing in both runs this year, most recently coming last of 14 in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E early last month. Has had time to freshen up, goes first time unshod-behind, and can get a look-in

7. KORIGANE D’ERABLE – 7th behind KINDY DU VIVIER (8) in a Class E over course and distance on 18 May. Will be fully fit by now and, competitively-shod, will have a claim on a place in the frame

8. KINDY DU VIVIER – Useful filly that was just edged in a Class E under these conditions 11 days ago. Shoes off again and can make this her own

9. KISS AND FORGET – Tricky sort but has an abundance of ability, most recently winning a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago. Reunited with Yoann Lebourgeois who was won twice in 3 starts with her and will be no soft touch

10. KALOUMA DELADOU – Unraced since coming last but one in a 2150m Argentan Class E 2 months ago. Front shoes off this time and even with Benjamin Rochard reining, will struggle to make her presence felt

11. KALAMA DE BEYLEV – Very hard to fault for some time, most recently 4th to KINDY DU VIVIER (8) in 18 May race of reference and looks the principal danger

12. KELLE EAU – Has not been seen out since coming last of 11 in a Class C over course and distance last October. Races barefoot for re-entry but others still preferred

Summary: Not once out of the first 2 when sporting pads or racing barefoot, KINDY DU VIVIER (8) missed out by little over course and distance recently but looks the one to beat this time. KALAMA DE BEYLEV (11) finished 4th to her that day, after having imposed at Graignes, and should again figure prominently, as should KISS AND FORGET (9) who took her win-rate to 50% ten days ago. 7th place behind the favourite on that occasion, KORIGANE D’ERABLE (7) has hind shoes off for the first time and looks thoroughly capable of getting stuck-in here.

C4 – PRIX DE CAUVILLE – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. LOOK PEJI – Debuted nicely at Angers late-March before coming last but one in a 2400m Amiens Class F on 19 April. Is significantly better than that and is even in with a shout of beating LANCELOT DU LOISIR (6)

2. LAMBO DE LEAU – Got off the mark in a 2500m Bihorel-lès-Rouen Class G 3 weeks ago. Steps up in category, but is fitted with 4 pads this time and, from the 2-spot, will be competitive for a thin slice of the pie

3. LUTIN DE BOISNEY – By no means disgraced when 5th of 11 in a 2200m Vichy Class E 8 days ago. Produced a fine finish that day and is ideally-placed to make a big splash

4. L’AS DE COEUR – Sanctioned, on return from a spell, in a 2200m Vichy monté Class E on 12 May. Sports pads this time but still hard to make a case

5. LOOK AT ME DIDO – Makes Caen debut after coming 3rd of 11 in a 2150m Rânes Class G 9 days ago. Should take well to the new conditions and, from the 5-spot, can give this a good go

6. LANCELOT DU LOISIR – Debuted well 3 weeks ago when 2nd of 9 finishers in a 2300m Le Mans Class F.  Has a lot going for him here and it would be no surprise to see him get his nose in front

7. LOTUS DE BEYLEV – Promising colt making first appearance since coming 5th of 6 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class D late-December. Sports 4 pads this time and can play a small role if he takes to the Caen profile

8. LOOK DE LARRE – Makes first start at the venue after trotting 4th of 8 finishers in a 2150m Vichy Class F on 18 May. Is clearly useful and even from a bad draw, can get in on the action

9. LUTIN DU BUST – Lost his way somewhat after getting the year off to a good start, most recently 7th of 9 finishers in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class D 10 days ago. Needs to get his house in order but, if focused, can pick up a prize

10. LOUDEAC – Has not been seen out since mid-April when 10th of 12, on debut, in a 2500m Bihorel-lès-Rouen Class G, and is not about to spring any surprises

11. LE ROI DES BRIERES – Sanctioned in both starts to date, most recently a 2200m Class G at Le Neuborg last week, and can be confidently disregarded

Summary: Rather impressive at Le Mans earlier in the month on his career bow, LANCELOT DU LOISIR (6) debuts at Caen with his morale intact and, with Alexandre Abrivard reining, can lose his maiden tag. There will still be opposition from the promising LOOK PEJI (1) provided he can replicate his Angers performance, and the well-positioned LUTIN DE BOISNEY (3) who caught the eye at Vichy last week. LOOK AT ME DIDO (5) has consistency on his side and looks to have every chance of getting in on the action.

C5 – PRIX DES TROIS MONTS – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 27,000

1. HANDZARO DU BOCAGE – Has begun to show improvement, recently 4th of 16, at 70/1, in a 2825m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche, but a repeat seems improbable

2. IMANOLO DE LOU – Took little time getting back in shape, winning a 2275m Nantes Class E 3 weeks ago and, from the 2-spot, can again finish in the mix

3. INDIC – Never far from faulting but is clearly in shape, most recently securing a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 10 May. Ideally-situated on the front line and can apply the pressure on ILCAPITANO DU PARC (5)

4. IDOLE JALLERIE – Preparing for this when 9th of 15 in a 3125m Granville Class E 10 days ago. Hind shoes off this time but others still preferred

5. ILCAPITANO DU PARC – Makes his Caen debut after winning a 2800m Cholet Class F mid-month in very good order. Well-engaged here and can double up

6. HEROINE DU DAN – Veritable metronome making first start since trotting 3rd of 11 in a 2200m Agon-Coutainville monté Class H last August. Is shod for re-entry though and best to hold off

7. HALADIN D’ARGENT – 3rd of 16 in a Class E over 2450m here on 22 April. Is a tough nut to crack when barefoot and applied, and returns to the venue with a good hand to play

8. ILLICO D’AMOUR – 7th of 15 in a 2825m Durtal Class E conditioner 10 days ago. Forced to break wide but is unlikely to disappoint here

9. HAMPTON DU VIVIER – Faces first objective of new season after 3 conditioners, latterly 7th of 10 in a 2700m Graignes monté Class G last week. Barefoot for the occasion but the draw will do him no favours

10. HELIA DE BAFFAIS – Pleasant 3rd of 11 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago. Is confirmed here and can get in on the action if David Thomain keeps her trotting

11. ICARE D’ACADIE – Returns to the harness code after faulting in a 2650m Alençon monté Class G on 12 May. Front pads fitted but others easier to back

12. HUMBERSTON – 6th of 11 finishers in a 2575m Gournay-en-Bray claimer a month back and looks outclassed in this company

13. HERNANDO BELLO – Solid over recent weeks, most recently 3rd of 12 in a 3225m Vitré Class F earlier this month, but shoes back on and best to wait

14. IALTA DE VANDEL – Trotted 2nd at Meslay-du-Maine before coming 7th to INDIC (3) in a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 10 May. Handed an unfavourable draw but Alexis Collette will be out to put things right. First 5

15. HORSE DU HENNEQUIN – Makes first appearance since coming last of 12 in a 2750m Cabourg Class F mid-Dcember and is not about to shake things up

16. ISIDORE BONHEUR – Sanctioned on comeback 10 days ago in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E and is sure to need another outing

17. HOPE FOR QUICK – Recently returned to competition, finishing 10th of 14 in a 2725m Graignes Class E last Friday, after an extended layoff and will need the outing

18. HARLEM LOCA – Erratic element that could manage no closer than 8th of 14 in a 2825m Durtal Class E 9 days ago, and can be ruled out

Summary: Very hard to knock when barefoot and focused, ILCAPITANO DU PARC (5) was excellent at Cholet 2 weeks ago and, from the 5-spot, has every chance of repeating. That said, the trickier INDIC (3) is better-positioned behind the car and his recent Le Mont-Saint-Michel victory bodes well for his prospects. Oddly lacklustre in his last two, ILLICO D’AMOUR (8) returns to a hard surface with legitimate ambition, while recent Nantes winner, IMANOLO DE LOU (2), has been handed a good spot on the front line.

SELECTIONS
ILCAPITANO DU PARC (5) – INDIC (3) – ILLICO D’AMOUR (8) – IMANOLO DE LOU (2)
C6 – PRIX DE BREHAL – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class F Race – Mounted – EUR € 21,000

1. JIMBO SPORT – Pleasantly surprised before being sanctioned in 18 May race of reference but faces a much stiffer test this time and chances slim

2. JEAN PIERRE – 8th of 12 in a 2750m Class F at La Capelle on 10 May and makes his Caen debut with limited aspiration

3. JUSTYBILIE DU LUOT – 4th of 6 finishers in a 2550m Class F at Gournay-en-Bray on Sunday. Takes a hike in category and chances limited

4. JARKA DE BEYLEV – Sanctioned on comeback in a 2550m Class H at Gournay-en-Bray on 12 May. Unshod-behind for the first time but others still preferred

5. KALINKA MELRIC – Has not been seen out since coming 2nd of 12 in a 2200m Vincennes Class E mid-November. Runs barefoot for the first time and should be able to get a look-in

6. KLEMPERER – Modest colt that faulted in a Class E over track and trip earlier this month and is unlikely to cause an upset

7. KRONOS D’EOLE – Faulted in a 2150m Vichy harness Class E 8 days ago. Has yet to show any aptitude for the monté game and is unlikely to shake things up

8. KANGAE DE GUEZ – 6th of 12 in a 2625m harness Class E at La Rochelle early-May. Sanctioned in both monté starts but sports a new configuration and will generate some interest

9. KAP ORNE – 4th, a place behind KOOKIE DE BELLANDE (12), in a Class E over course and distance on 18 May and, on good behaviour, will be expected to finish close

10. KENTUCKY DE PADD – Sanctioned on re-entry in a 2800m Bernay harness Class E on 12 May. Has references under the saddle but others still easier to back

11. KARMA LIGHT – Showed improvement when 4th of 7 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class D a month ago. Is clearly in shape, races barefoot again, and can make the frame

12. KOOKIE DE BELLANDE – Left a very good impression when 3rd of 12 finishers in a Class E under these conditions on 18 May and will not be available at 22/1 on this occasion

13. KING OF JIEL – 2nd in a Class E over track and trip before coming 5th to KOOKIE DE BELLANDE (12) in race of reference. Little chance of imposing but can still pick up some prizemoney

14. KEENGAME – Complicated but remarkably capable filly that won at Le Croisé-Laroche before faulting in a 2175m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago and will be dangerous if Anthony Barrier keeps her trotting

15. KRISTALE D’ERABLE – Pleasant 3rd of 4 finishers in a 2200m Vincennes Class D early-April, after having won over course and distance mid-March, and is eminently capable of winning a race of this nature

16. KENJI D’AUBERVILLE – 8th of 12 finishers in 18 May race of reference. Stays shod and is not about to spring any surprises

17. JOLIE DES BAUX – Returns to the ridden code following a poor streak in the other discipline, latterly a 3000m Le Neuborg Class F 10 days ago and, even with modified shoeing, can be confidently ruled out

18. KISSABELLA – No slouch but tricky at the best of times, latterly sanctioned in a 2475m Class F at Royan La Palmyre 10 days ago. Shod differently this time and even though reunited with Benjamin Rochard, will have few friends

Summary: Like a horse reborn in her current configuration, KRISTALE D’ERABLE (15) won easily here mid-March and returns to racing clockwise with every chance of confirming. She will still be pitted against the talented KEENGAME (14) for whom it is always a question of all-or-nothing, and KARMA LIGHT (11) who left a good impression in Paris a month ago. Just once out of the first 3 under the saddle, KOOKIE DE BELLANDE (12) beat a number of these over course and distance recently and, even though shod, must be taken more seriously.

C7 – PRIX DE BLONVILLE – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. KRAC DE GUIBRAY – Complicated type making his first appearance since faulting in a 2875m Enghien Class D last October, and will need the run

2. KENTUCKY SCARLET – Has ample ability but sanctioned in last 6, most recently a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 10 May, and others easier to trust

3. KELYO DU SOLNAN – 5th, 2 places behind KIR DU BOULAY (5), in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago. Is a good finisher and with Gabriele Gelormini reining, will be afforded every chance

4. KAPOCEO – Looked every part the winner under these conditions 11 days ago before faulting in the latter stages, but Yoann Lebourgeois will be eager to make amends. Chance

5. KIR DU BOULAY – Sprang quite the surprise when 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago. Hind shoes off for the first time but is unlikely to be troubling the judge

6. KRONOS ZEN – Apart form his Cholet sanction, has been hard to fault this term, latterly 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2600m Class E 2 weeks ago, and will be competitive for some prizemoney

7. KABOTIN CHENEVIERE – 4th, a place behind KOH I NOOR (11), in a Class E over track and trip 11 days ago. Is in his category and will have claims on a first-5 cheque

8. KING DRY – Came in last of 8 on re-entry in a 2950m Vichy Class D on 6 May. Races first time barefoot and is not incapable of finishing in the mix

9. KANSAS BONBON – No champion but trotted third, a place behind KENYA D’HERFRAIE (12), in a 2725m Graignes Class E earlier this month. Sports a new configuration and is not to be overlooked

10. KIMMAJO – Pleasant 4th of 12 in a 2800m Chartres Class E 3 weeks ago. Fitted with 4 pads this time but in this company will struggle to make his mark

11. KOH I NOOR – Yet to disappoint when barefoot, most recently close 3rd of 12 in a Class E over course and distance on 18 May, and with Benjamin Rochard reining, can win this

12. KENYA D’HERFRAIE – Can prove a handful but reassured on re-entry when 2nd of 10 in a 2725m Graignes Class E. Will have progressed, all his ducks appear to be in a row, and can finally get that maiden monkey off his back

13. KALISCO PLANCHETTE – Unexceptional trotter that came 5th of 14 in a 2800m Tours Class E on 12 May and already looks out of his depth

Summary: Although still somewhat green, KENYA D’HERFRAIE (12) is nevertheless an improving individual and racing unshod-behind should be good enough to get off the mark. David Thomain will still be keeping a keen eye on the regular KOH I NOOR (11) who went close here recently, and KAPOCEO (4) who won a brace before faulting in his last two. KELYO DU SOLNAN (3) is seldom far from the action when focused and, sporting a new configuration for his Caen debut, looks a player.

1. FIRST DU MILAN – Makes Caen debut after trotting 3rd of 16 in a 3200m Fougères Class E on 1 May. Is plainly close to his race and must not be underestimated

2. FELINE DE JANVILLE – Lost her action in a 2800m Class F at Villedieu-les-Poëles 9 days ago and can expect to remain friendless in the markets

3. GO FOR BELLAY – Went into his break after imposing at Châteaubriant early-February. Came 4th to GOUTIER CELESTE (8) in a Class F over course and distance on 18 May and, with front pads fitted, will not be far off the mark

4. GALOPIN DE MARTHE – Reliability not his strong suit but finished 3rd of 11 in a 2175m Vincennes Class E 12 days ago. Sports front pads for just the 2nd time but appreciates Caen and is unlikely to disappoint

5. HISTORIEN DE LARRE – Drops marginally in category after finishing last of 7 in a 2875m Enghien Class E on 2 May, and represents no more than a minor place chance

6. GAMAY – Oddly below-par when 8th behind GALOPIN DE MARTHE (4) in a 2175m Vincennes Class E 12 days ago. Is plainly better than that though and should be competitive for a step on the podium

7. GIUNCHETO JEEP – Honest type that came 5th of 10 finishers, on comeback, in a 2725m Lisieux Class E on 13 May. Will have come on for the run and will generate some interest

8. GOUTIER CELESTE – Filed a trio of sanctions to the history books when winning a Class F over track and trip 11 days ago and can repeat if he stays in stride

9. FANAK DU BOCAGE – Disappointing on the whole this year, most recently sanctioned in a 2200m Vichy Class E last week, and must get his house in order

10. GALION VOLSIN – Has ample ability but disappointing in last 2, most recently 12th of 15 in a 2950m Vichy Class D mid-month, and will not be causing any upsets

11. HOLIDAY WELL – Produced a brace of good efforts last month before faulting, when full of running, in a 2725m Lisieux monté Class E on 13 May. Reverts to a previous configuration and, on good behaviour, can challenge for the win

12. FARCEUR DE CONDE – Out of the picture in all 3 this year, latterly 8th of 15 in a 2650m Alençon Class F in 12 May, and with shoes back on, can be ruled out

13. GIBOLE DE L’ELLE – Last of 10, on re-entry, in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F 10 days ago. Sports a new configuration but still not a priority

Summary: GOUTIER CELESTE (8) may not be the easiest of horses to handle but he made short work of a Class F over course and distance recently and can double his money if he deigns to stay in stride. Mathieu Mottier will be justifiably wary of the temperamental but capable HOLIDAY WELL (11) who imposed here in March and who sports just front pads in a bid to make up for his Lisieux sanction. GAMAY (6) should not be too harshly judged for his latest performance and sporting a new formula may be just the ticket. FIRST DU MILAN (1) showed his form earlier in the month, is shod differently, and will be competitive for a spot in first 3.

3. CALCUTTA CUP – Won at Compiègne over 1800m on his reappearance (10 March) and didn’t go unnoticed (6th) at Fontainebleau over 2000m on 13 April

5. AMERICANO – Returned to form with an encouraging 3rd at Evreux on 22 May in a conditions race over 1800m. Not taken lightly

6. BABY GLORY – Last-start winner over 2000m at Strasbourg on 8 May. Could remain competitive off an unchanged mark

7. TRUE START – Absent since finishing 9th in a 1600m claimer at Vichy on 15 August. Best watched for now

11. SCHWENDI – Consistent, versatile performer with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 3rd over 1600m at Vichy on 15 May. Winning chance

Summary: Ideally entered, as the joint top-rated runner in the race under bottom weight, SCHWENDI (11) has a great opportunity to reconnect with success. He will, however, have to thwart the likely challenges of INATTENDU (1) and RADETSKY MARSCH (9), who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively at Chantilly a fortnight ago. MONTGAUDRY (4) is inconsistent but has the means to make his presence felt.

1. LILY OFTHE KINGDON – Has acquitted herself well against better opposition and finished an encouraging 4th in a 1600m claimer at Saint-Cloud on 10 May. Lacks references on turf

2. DRACO – Wasn’t disgraced when finishing 6th on debut over track and trip on 13 May. Will have more to offer

3. DAL PRATO – Unplaced in two starts, finishing 9th on both occasions – the latest over 1400m at Le Mans on 15 May. Can do better at this level with scope to improve

4. RUM TUM TUGGER – Well-beaten 13th in an 1800m handicap at Le Croise-Laroche on 19 May. Needs to improve

5. MASTERPLAN – Well-beaten 10th in a 1400m handicap at Strasbourg on 8 May when resuming after a layoff. Can do better

6. MOONWALKER – A regular at this level but has placed only twice in 17 appearances. Well-beaten 10th in an 1800m handicap at Le Croise-Laroche on 19 May

7. NOUSDEUX – Has been a little disappointing in recent weeks – finished 12th in 1800m handicap at Le Croise-Laroche on 19 May. Can do better at this level

8. LINFOLD LADY – Made no impression on debut at Le Pin au Haras over 2350m on 8 May. Needs to improve – watch for now

9. ENERGIC – Last-start winner over 2400m at La Roche-sur-Yon in his first appearance at this level on 12 May. One to beat

10. PERICALA POINT – Improved to finish 5th in a minor 1500m contest on PSF at Mons on 25 March. Improvement needed

11. HAFICIONADAS – Finished 3rd behind ENERGIC (9) in a 2400m claimer at La Roche-sur-Yon on 12 May. Not taken lightly

Summary: ENERGIC (9) improved after a much-needed comeback outing to open her account last time out at La Roche-sur-Yon and, with the likelihood of further progress, seems capable of following up here. Both LILY OFTHE KINGDON (1) and MASTERPLAN (5) are best equipped to pose a threat, with the shortlist completed by DAL PRATO (3) who is making his first appearance in the claiming category.

3. PALANZANO – Unplaced in all 16 appearances, the latest (5th) in a handicap 1600m at Saint-Cloud on 1 May. For another day

4. ODEMAR – Inconsistent but has the experience and sound form/references to play a leading role. Could only finish 12th over 1800m at Fontainebleau on 3 May but is capable of a lot better than that

5. NEXT EAGLE – Stayed on well to finish 3rd over 1800m at Fontainebleau on 3 May when behind ABSOLUTE POWER (2) but ahead of VERDANT LADY (7). Keep safe

6. ELEGANTIA – Soundly beaten (12th) on debut over 1800m on turf at Chantilly on 17 May. Should improve but is best watched for now

8. WAYA WAYA – Unplaced in all 3 three comeback appearances this year, the latest (10th) in a handicap over 1600m at Waregem on 14 May. Others preferred

9. LOVELY LADY – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 6th in her first outing on French soil over 1400m on 8 May at Strasbourg. Open to improvement

10. BLACK MAGIC WOMAN – Soundly beaten in all three appearances, the latest (13th) over 1800m at Fontainebleau on 3 May. Others preferred

11. SULTANE OF SWING – Ought to improve with the benefit of an introductory outing, in which she finished 9th over 1800m at Fontainebleau on 3 May

12. PIANTARELLA – Jérôme Claudic rides this Stéphane Cérulis-trained Anodin filly on debut. Best watched for now

Summary: VERDANT LADY (7) caught the eye on debut when an encouraging 4th in the benchmark race and, with improvement expected, looks a serious candidate for victory. ABSOLUTE POWER (2) finished 2nd that race and is likely to play another leading role. ODEMAR (4), who will benefit from the 2,5kg allowance of his rider, is also a contender for the leading positions. NEXT EAGLE (5), who was 4th in the reference race, appeals most of the remainder.

8. ASHGHAR – Finished 3rd in the reference race over 2100m at Saint-Cloud on 6 May, so warrants respect. Dark horse

9. BAHAYRA – Absent since finishing a well-beaten 12th in a 2500m Quinte+ handicap at Clairefontaine on 16 October. Watch for now

10. ZAHYANA – Runner-up in a Quinte+ handicap last year and finished 2nd on her reappearance over 2100m at Saint-Cloud on 6 May. Candidate for success

11. JOLI CORBEAU – Confirmed the form of her encouraging comeback 4th by finishing 3rd at Lyon-Parilly over 2000m on 27 April. Winning chance

Summary: JOLI CORBEAU (11) has made two encouraging appearances this year and is ideally engaged (weighted) under these conditions, so should fight for victory. ZAHYANA (10), who finished 2nd in a pleasing comeback display of her own, and PANGAEA (1), a recent Quinté+ winner, ought to mount a serious challenge.
