French Selections Friday 31st

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX KISSA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 68,000

1. ELMER DU BELVER – Has raced just once since 24 December 2022. Makes first appearance for 9 months and will need the run

2. GOLDEN VISAIS – 8th of 9 finishers when prepping for this in a monté Class D over course and distance mid-month. Races barefoot this time and will have his supporters

3. GYS – 4th of 15, behind HERALDIQUE (9), in a 2100m Class D here on 3 June. Gabriele Gelormini reining this time and will be expected to finish close once more

4. ELIXIR DE CRENNES – Modest sort that has done nothing noteworthy for some time. 10th of 16 in a 2850m Laval Class D late-April and, in this company, has no realistic chance

5. HISTOIRE MODERNE – Sanctioned in both since returning to competition, latterly a 2850m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Entrusted to Matthieu Abrivard this time and will be assured every chance

6. FILOU DE LA ROUVRE – Quality element but lost his way late last season and picked up this year where he left off, sanctioned in a 2850m Laval Class D 3 months ago. Is competitively-shod but other more attractive options are available

7. HORATIUS D’ELA – Tough crusader that finished 4th behind HUDO DU RUEL (16) in a 2850m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Has never won over 2700m in Paris but is in good enough shape to trot his way onto the podium

8. GARUDA FLIGNY – 7th of 15 when being conditioned for this over 2950m at Charlottenlund on 12 May. Races barefoot this time but chances still limited

9. HERALDIQUE – Won over course and distance before coming 2nd to the fine Global Agreement in a 2100m Class D here on 3 May. Thrives with his driver of the day and can win this

10. DORUN BEAM – 3rd of 16 in a 2400m Montauban Class D 10 days ago. Mathieu Mottier in the sulky but will struggle to make his mark

11. HEMMA DE BRIKVIL – Hardy mare returning to the venue on a hat-trick after winning a 2850m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Takes on the boys this time but will still be competitive for a first-5 payday

12. HOTLINE DE CARSI – Makes first appearance since coming 5th of 18 in a 3025m Châteaubriant monté Class D early-February, and can be passed over

13. HOBBES – Capable on a good day but as capricious as they get. Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2850m Class D here early-February and, with front pads fitted, is unlikely to cause an upset

14. FILARETE DU VERGER – Pleasantly surprised on re-entry 2 weeks ago when 4th of 16, at 111/1, in a 2100m Class C here. Shoes on again and is not to be underestimated this time

15. EGINE PRECIEUSE – Showed a different side on 20 April when 3rd of 15 in a 2875m Enghien monté Class C, but will have nothing to offer here

16. HUDO DU RUEL – Serious sort that missed out by little in a 2850m Class D here on 10 May. Has an entry-made-in-heaven and David Thomain will be loathe to squander it

Summary: Remarkably consistent, and winner over course and distance last month, HERALDIQUE (9) continues his march forward with Yoann Lebourgeois and can expect to garner the lion’s share of support. Ideally-engaged at the limit of earnings, and in the form of his life, HUDO DU RUEL (16) will not go down without a fight. Impressive 3rd to him here 3 weeks ago, HORATIUS D’ELA (7) must be taken seriously, as should GYS (3) who trotted 4th to the favourite earlier this month.

SELECTIONS
HERALDIQUE (9) – HUDO DU RUEL (16) – HORATIUS D’ELA (7) – GYS (3)
C2 – PRIX VICTOR CAVEY – ETRIER 5 ANS Q3 – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr2 Race – Mounted – EUR € 120,000

1. JASMINE DE NEUVY – Capable under the saddle, and steps up in class, but has not raced since faulting in a 2175m Gr.2 late-January. Shod to preference but risks being race-rusty

2. JADE DE CASTELLE – Respectable but never-dangerous 5th to JUS DE FRUIT (3) in a Class C over course and distance 2 weeks ago and will need to find considerably more

3. JUS DE FRUIT – Sanctioned in 2 Gr.2’s before trotting 2nd of 9 in a Class C over course and distance a fortnight ago but still represents no more than a minor place prospect

4. JANE AIMEE – 4th in Prix Louis Forcinal before faulting in Prix Jean Gauvreau 3 weeks ago. Showed her form that day but not an obvious choice this time around

5. JULIANA DE RETZ – Seldom gets her nose in front but always gives what she can. Faulted when well-backed in Gr.2 Prix Louis Forcinal behind JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (6) late last month but, with application, will not be far off the mark

6. JEROBOAM D’ERABLE – Can prove a handful but has bags of ability. 6th of 8 finishers in a harness Gr.3 over course and distance mid-month and returns to conditions he appreciates with a good hand to play

7. JOUMBA DE GUEZ – 3rd of 16 when preparing for this in a 2150m Enghien harness Class A last Saturday. Reunited with Eric Raffin for whom he won Gr.1 Prix Jag de Bellouet, and looks a serious proposition

8. JEEGHA PRIDE – Superb in both codes, 3 weeks ago making short work of 2175m Gr.2 Prix Jean Gauvreau, and with form maintained can double her money

9. JESSY DE BANVILLE – 13th of 14 in a 2625m La Rochelle Class B harness conditioner on 12 May after having come 3rd in Prix Louis Forcinal. In better company this time but is unshod-behind, and still capable of making first 5

10. JUBILE PRIOR – Well-beaten 5th of 7 finishers in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Jean Gauvreau here 3 weeks ago and is not about to shake things up

11. JEAN BALTHAZAR – Top-drawer crusader that came 2nd to JEEGHA PRIDE (8) in 10 May race of reference. May not have her measure this time either but can still trot his way onto the podium

Summary: Currently on an excellent run of form, JEEGHA PRIDE (8) stormed up in the Gr.2 Prix Jean Gauvreau 3 weeks ago and, if still on the boil, can confirm. The ever-consistent JEAN BALTHAZAR (11) finished runner-up to her that day and will again be competitive, but may first have to give way to Gr.1-winning JOUMBA DE GUEZ (7) who showed her form under harness last weekend, and who goes unshod-behind for the occasion. JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (6) won the Gr.2 Prix Louis Forcinal with ease late last month and, shod to preference, will have his chances.

SELECTIONS
JEEGHA PRIDE (8) – JOUMBA DE GUEZ (7) – JEAN BALTHAZAR (11) – JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (6)
C3 – PRIX DE CLAIREFONTAINE – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000

1. GAGNANT DE BRIKVIL – Won at Laval late-March but failed to confirm when 10th of 11 in a Class D at the same venue early-May. Has evident merit but others still easier to back

2. GRAND PAJELO – Never far from faulting but form is not in doubt, most recently 5th of 15 in a similar event here 2 weeks ago. No younger horses to contend with this time and can bring home the bacon

3. ETHAN DRIVE – Pleased around the turn of the year but lacklustre since. 9th of 15 finishers, behind FEDER PERRINE (9), in a Class D under these conditions earlier this month, and will have few friends

4. FLAMBEUR DU DIGEON – 4th of 14 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E 10 days ago. Reunited with the champion driver and is not about to let the side down. Place chance

5. FERIA DE LIGNY – Unlucky 7th of 14 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D mid-May. Entrusted to Benjamin Rochard this time and should be good enough to challenge for a place in the frame

6. FOKKER DE BAILLY – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently a 2550m Reims Class E 10 days ago, and has no love for Vincennes

7. GAGNEUR – Close 2nd of 16 in a Class D over course and distance late-April before coming 7th under similar conditions 3 weeks ago. Just hind shoes on this occasion and looks capable of opening his Vincennes account

8. ESPIT CHUPITOS – Steps back up in category after trotting 5th of 15 in a 2850m claimer here late-April, but still has more to find

9. FEDER PERRINE – Showed his form when 2nd of 11 in a 2175m monté Class E here a fortnight ago, races barefoot this time, and if forms transitions, his place is in the first 5

10. FIRST LADY BLEUE – Unraced since coming 6th of 12 in a 2950m Toulouse Class E on 10 February and will need the outing

11. EIGHT – Modest individual starting for first time since coming 9th of 12 in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D early-December, and can be ruled out

12. GET UP DES PLAINES – Very ordinary since the winter break, most recently last of 14 in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E, and is unlikely to generate much interest

13. FAKIR DE GESVRES – Last of 14 in a 2100m Class D here mid-month. Barefoot for the occasion but still no threat

14. GLOWING MOKO – Never far from faulting, which he demonstrated in a 2825m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche on 13 May, but can play a small role if he reproduces his previous performance

15. EQUIDO ALFA – Handy trotter with 3 runs in him since the break, latterly one from last in a 3475m Vire Class E last weekend. Shoes off though for just 2nd start at the venue and should not be ruled out

16. FAUBOURG DU PERCHE – 14th of 18 in a 3475m Vire Class E last weekend and, even unshod-in-front, will have nothing to offer

Summary: In the absence of 7 year-olds, 3 of which had his measure here a fortnight ago, GRAND PAJELO (2) races barefoot for just the 2nd time in his career and can win this if he stays in stride. In the frame in 2 of his last 3, GAGNEUR (7) has solid references under these conditions, reverts to racing unshod behind, and also has a claim on the prize. FLAMBEUR DU DIGEON (4) encouraged at Saint-Malo recently and the engagement of Eric Raffin has not gone unnoticed. FERIA DE LIGNY (5) was by no means disgraced here mid-month but nevertheless sports a revised configuration and can play a prominent role.

SELECTIONS
GRAND PAJELO (2) – GAGNEUR (7) – FLAMBEUR DU DIGEON (4) – FERIA DE LIGNY (5)
C4 – PRIX PYTHIA – 2850m (a2m) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 75,000

1. GHOSTBUSTER – Fine servant but has not been seen out since faulting in a 2100m Class C here late-February. Shoes on and no threat

2. GUINESS D’HERFRAIE – Briefly lost her way earlier in the year but reassured with an authoritative victory in a 2700m Class C here on 4 May. Steps up in category but, with form maintained, will not be far from the action

3. GOLD DAIRPET – Superb servant but below-par in last 2, latterly 12th of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class B last Saturday. Should not be too hastily judged and it is only a matter of time before he comes good again

4. INSHORE – Unraced since faulting in a 2200m monté Gr.1 here early-March. Has other priorities and can be ruled out

5. ELISKA BERRY – Bites off more than she can chew again after finishing 10th of 17 in a 2625m Class B at La Rochelle on 12 May

6. I CAN DREAM – Classy individual but is being prepared for a campaign in the other code and can be disregarded

7. GIBUS – Returns to the harness game after coming 6th of 17 in a 2450m Caen monté Class B on 11 May. Won his only start under these conditions and must not be underestimated

8. FELIX DU BOURG – Seldom gets his nose in front but has been knocking at the door lately, most recently 3rd of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class B last weekend and, while unlikely to repeat, should still acquit himself honourably

9. HONKY TONK BLUES – Off the boil all year, most recently last in 4 May race of reference and, sporting a new configuration or not, can be passed over

10. HIDALGO DES NOES – Erratic but is plainly back in shape, coming 4th of 14 in a similar event 2 weeks ago and, with form maintained, can pick up another minor place cheque

11. CASH BANK BIGI – Serious mare but difficult to handle. Has never disappointed under these conditions however and will be competitive for a place in the frame

12. FAUBOURG – Oddly not disgraced when 11th of 15, behind GUIDE MOI FORGAN (15) in a 2100m Class B here on 4 May, but will struggle to make any impact this time around

13. FLOREAL – Cagnes Gr.3 winner earlier in the year. Would have finished close in a 2525m Cavaillon Class B early-April had he not blundered in the turn for home. Eric Raffin reining this time though and looks a player

14. INEXESS BLEU – Fine campaigner that showed his form when 2nd of 10 in a Class A over course and distance on 19 April. Comes here fresh and with Alexandre Abrivard back in business, can impose

15. GUIDE MOI FORGAN – Would have finished closer than 9th in a 2100m Class B here earlier in the month had he not quickly faulted and Mathieu Mottier will be out to make amends

16. EQUINOXE JIEL – Made little impact before being sanctioned in a similar event mid-month and is not about to spring a surprise

Summary: Runner-up to the excellent Ino Du Lupin over course and distance last month, INEXESS BLEU (14) seldom disappoints under these conditions and will take some beating. Alexandre Abrivard would still be wise to be wary of the delicate CASH BANK BIGI (11) who has group-form over 2850m on the main track, and GIBUS (7) who has yet to be beaten when barefoot. The capable GUIDE MOI FORGAN (15) raced better last time than the result would suggest and will be no easy touch if Mathieu Mottier gets him off on the right foot.

SELECTIONS
INEXESS BLEU (14) – CASH BANK BIGI (11) – GIBUS (7) – GUIDE MOI FORGAN (15)
C5 – PRIX LAVATER – ETRIER 4 ANS Q3 – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr2 Race – Mounted – EUR € 120,000

1. KINGSTON DE BLARY – Unexceptional colt making his first appearance under the saddle since last June. 6th of 14 in a harness Class C over 2700m here 10 days ago and even with hind shoes off, looks outclassed

2. KELVALSE CASTELETS – Courageous winner of a Class C over course and distance 10 days ago but takes on a serious bunch this time and others preferred

3. KEL AIR D’EOLE – Opened his account at Enghien late-March before repeating in a Class C over track and trip on 23 April. Returns fresh to Paris and, although not a priority, should nevertheless hold his own

4. KANTHABELLA – Showed marked improvement when 3rd to KELLY DE BANVILLE (10) in Caen race of reference. Unlikely to repeat but can still make the first 5

5. KIRCIE DE GUEZ – Went into her winter break on a high note but below-par in 3 so far this term and can be confidently passed over

6. KARMA – Progressive colt with a 50% win-rate and thrives under these conditions. Made short work of a Class B over track and trip 3 weeks ago and steps up in category with justified ambition

7. KILLER QUICK – Picked up victoriously this term where he left off last January, latterly flying up in a 3000m Marseille-Borély Class B 2 weeks ago. Has previously imposed over course and distance and looks a serious player

8. KONDOR – Looked rather ordinary when 7th of 9 in a Class C under these conditions 2 weeks ago and, even though entrusted to Eric Raffin and barefoot for the first time, is unlikely to shake things up

9. KAYA DREAM – 11th of 12 finishers in a harness Gr.3 over course and distance on 3 May. Has previously won a Gr.2 over 2700m here but is not about to repeat any time soon

10. KELLY DE BANVILLE – Hardy filly that opened her Gr.2 account in style on 11 May, winning 2450m Prix Henri Ballière at Caen earlier this month, and looks main threat to KYT KAT (13)

11. KARLA DE MAI – Has been going well this term, most recently 4th to KYT KAT (13) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix René Palyart here late last month, but nonetheless represents no more than a minor place chance

12. KABAKA DE GUEZ – Sanctioned when preparing for this in a 2450m Caen harness Gr.3 3 weeks ago. Is no slouch on a good day, sports modified shoeing, but appears to have her work cut out

13. KYT KAT – High-class colt that set his personal best chrono when winning a 2175m Gr.2 here on 26 April. Comes here fresh and should have the measure of the field

14. KYRIELLE DES VAUX – Ended winter meeting with 2 successive Gr.2 victories. Courageous 4th to KELLY DE BANVILLE (10) in a 2450m Caen Gr.2 on 11 May and, shod as she was here in February, will again be competitive for a place on the podium

Summary: An exceptional campaigner under the saddle, KYT KAT (13) set the record straight on her first start since the break, beating a number of these in Gr.2 Prix René Palyart over 2175m here late last month, and is similar form, should have this in the bag. Mathieu Mottier will nevertheless be keeping an eye on the recently rejuvenated KELLY DE BANVILLE (10) who was imperious at Caen 3 weeks ago, and the course-and-distance hat-trick-seeking KARMA (6) who races shod on her first foray into this class of race. Alexandre Abrivard takes over on KILLER QUICK (7) who is unbeaten in 2 since returning from his layoff.

SELECTIONS

C6 – PRIX BILLETS DISCOUNT (PRIX KLOTHO) – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 53,000

1. DONATUSS – Disappointing on the whole this year, latterly 8th of 15 in a 2100m Class E here 2 weeks ago, and will struggle to make any impact

2. DIE HARD (ITY) – Rather unlucky not to finish closer than 5th in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Caught the eye in the final stages and, if still on the boil, can win this

3. DAMISELA – Unraced since winning a 2850m monté Class D here late-March. Is barefoot for re-entry and while not a priority, can still get a look-in

4. DIAPASON (ITY) – Respectable behind JEU COQUIN (11) on re-entry before faulting in a 2850m Class B here on 12 April. Is clearly in shape though, sports a new configuration, and will generate interest

5. DEXTER ORS – Useful Italian import that has yet to take to Vincennes profile. 10th of 11, behind JEU COQUIN (11) in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 2 April and, even with front pads fitted, looks out of his depth

6. MISTER INVICTUS – Capable in both codes but has not been seen out since finishing 8th of 11 in a 2850m Class B here on 10 December and best to hold off

7. JUNKIE (SWE) – Clear 2nd to a very good horse in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 2 May. Appreciates these conditions and is not going to be far from the action

8. ILIADE (SWE) – Sprang a 13/1 surprise winning a 2100m Class E here on 26 April. Has had ample time to recuperate and will be interesting to watch

9. COCIS MP – Ended 2023 on a low note and picked up where he left off, coming 12th of 16 in a 2150m Argentan Class D mid-April, and already looks outclassed

10. JASON GINYU – Came 2nd over course and distance late-April before finishing an unthreatening 7th of 16 in a 2850m Class B here a week ago. Excels over 2700m here though and must not be underestimated

11. JEU COQUIN – 8th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class B earlier this month after having encouraged at Vincennes but still has a lot more to find

12. JAB DE MYE – Unremarkable 12th of 16, on re-entry, in a 2850m Class B here a week ago, and appears to need another outing

13. JEANNETTE PRIORY – Unremarkable mare making first appearance since being sanctioned in a Class A under these conditions late-February. Unseen for 3 months and not an obvious choice

14. IDEAL DE RIVRAY – Clearly on the right road, coming 2nd of 7 finishers in a 2625m Class G at La Rochelle 10 days ago. In better company this time but will still acquit himself competitively

15. JACADI BROUETS – Last of 11 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 2 May. Barefoot for this excellent entry and François Lagadeuc will be eager to take advantage of the opportunity. Place prospect

16. JADE D’AMOUR – Out of sorts when sanctioned in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 2 May. Benefits from a good entry though and can make this her own if Benjamin Rochard keeps her trotting

Summary: Third in an Enghien Class A before coming 5th over course and distance earlier this month,
DIE HARD (ITY) (2) will be reined by Eric Raffin this time and deserves to be rewarded with victory. After winning 2 in a row straight after her winter break, JADE D’AMOUR (16) was never at her ease across town earlier in the month but is twice a winner under these conditions and Benjamin Rochard will be out to set the record straight. A good dual-discipline trotter with 2 races under his belt, JACADI BROUETS (15) is barefoot for his first objective of the season and is unlikely to disappoint. Second in an Enghien Class B earlier this month, JUNKIE (SWE) (7) has never disappointed over 2700m here and warrants respect.

SELECTIONS

C7 – PRIX TROPIQUES FM (PRIX ABUNDANTIA) – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 52,000

1. KEPI DEL – Won at Beaumont-de-Lomagne early-April before trotting 3rd of 14 in a Class B over course and distance mid-month, and can play a leading role

2. KEVIN PRINCE – Useful sort but lacklustre 9th of 11 finishers in a Class B over course and distance on 15 May. Is clearly better than that though, goes first time barefoot, and can get a look-in this time

3. KALAO DU VIVIER – Gives a good account for the most part but unlucky 7th to KEPI DEL (1) mid-month. Alexandre Abrivard takes over and will attempt to put things right

4. KATIM DU GOUTIER – Failed to impress when 10th of 11 behind KRAKEN CASTELETS (11) in a Class B over track and trip 3 weeks ago. Will need to pull his socks up, but races first time barefoot and will have his supporters

5. KALINOU QUICK – Won here earlier in the year but disappointing in 2 since, most recently 8th in race of reference. Not a priority but should nevertheless show signs of improvement

6. KITTS ET NEVIS – Quality trotter that excels over 2700m here. Returns to the venue on a hat-trick and has every chance of pulling it off

7. KRISTO BOURBON – Capable trotter but sanctioned in both this term, most recently in race of reference, and others easier to support

8. KISS ME BOURBON – Moderate filly that could manage no closer than 6th behind KIVALA RENARDIER (10) in a 2700m Class B here on 4 May and is not about to spring any surprises

9. KIWI DE TREMONT – Encouraging 5th on comeback, 2 places behind KEPI DEL (1), in 15 May race of reference. Will have progressed and must be considered a decent first-5 chance

10. KIVALA RENARDIER – Decent 3rd of 16 in a Class B over course and distance on 4 May. Thrives with Benjamin Rochard reining and must be considered a contender

11. KRAKEN CASTELETS – Courageous 2nd to a good colt in a Class B over track and trip 3 weeks ago. Raffin reining again and will be competitive for the win

Summary: Clearly talented but also somewhat capricious, KITTS ET NEVIS (6) has turned a corner recently, winning two over course and distance, and the nature of his latest victory bodes well for the hat-trick. Good second under these conditions 3 weeks ago, KRAKEN CASTELETS (11) enjoys an excellent entry here and will be no soft touch. Back on the right track after a difficult start to the season, KEPI DEL (1) beat a number of these here mid-month and can again finish close. KIVALA RENARDIER (10) is one of the more dependable elements in the field and will once again be expected to compete for a first-3 cheque.

SELECTIONS

C8 – PRIX TRACE TV (PRIX SAPPHO) – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000

1. KAMES – Returns to the harness code after winning a 2750m monté Class F at La Capelle on 5 May. Goes first time barefoot, with Eric Raffin reining, and will be worth monitoring

2. KADEHO DE FRAMIST – Continued his unproductive ways when 7th to KISS ME AGAIN (10) in a 2950m Vichy Class E  2 weeks ago and has no realistic chance

3. KASSOUMAYE – Imposed at Graignes before confirming in a 2850m Maure-de-Bretagne Class E on 12 May. Is proven under these conditions and is very easy to like for a spot in first 3

4. KRICK DU GUESCLIN – Placed in 1 of 2 under these conditions. 8th behind KENOR DESBOIS (6) in a 3000m Nantes Class E on re-entry. Will have come on for the run, sports a new configuration, and should be able to get in on the action

5. KONG – Delicate but capable type that won 3 on the trot last season, including over the main track. Sanctioned on comeback in a 2475m Royan La Palmyre Class F 12 days ago but will nonetheless generate some interest

6. KENOR DESBOIS – Won over track and trip in December but disappointing in 3 this term, latterly 7th of 13 in a 3000m Nantes Class E 3 weeks ago. Alexandre Abrivard reining this time though and should show some improvement

7. KILIMANDJARO – Quickly sanctioned in a 2700m Class D at Le Croisé-Laroche 9 days ago. Has no love for Vincennes and with shoes on can be passed over

8. KENZO DU MONT – Never far from faulting but has excelled lately, scoring a brace, latterly a 2450m Caen Class E on 5 May. Has references racing left-handed and, even racing barefoot this time, can pleasantly surprise

9. KING MOKO – Last of 8 in a 2050m Lyon-La Soie Class D on 10 April. Placed just once in 8 starts this year and is unlikely to rock the boat

10. KISS ME AGAIN – Returns to racing left-handed after winning a 2950m Vichy Class E smartly 2 weeks ago. Sports modified shoeing for Vincennes debut and is not going to be far off the mark

11. KITALIANO ALGREF – Showed significant promise last season. Has yet to get into his stride this term but will be sufficiently prepared by now and can give KALEO DU BELLAY (13) a run for his money

12. KATSUKI – 8th of 13 finishers in a 2100m Class D here mid-month and in order to compete in this category will need to raise his game

13. KALEO DU BELLAY – Makes first appearance since coming last of 9 in a Class C over track and trip last December. Has ample ability though, comes here with freshness on his side, and has a realistic chance of opening his 2024 account

Summary: Perfectly-engaged at the limit of earnings, KALEO DU BELLAY (13) may not have been seen out since December but he goes unshod-behind for comeback and can debut victoriously for his new handler. A winner over the main track last season, KITALIANO ALGREF (11) will be fully-fit by now and is not incapable of getting straight down to business. KASSOUMAYE (3) steps up in category after winning 2 on the trot and must be afforded respect, as should a newly-configured KISS ME AGAIN (10) who has been enjoying something of a renaissance since starting to race barefoot.

2. LATINO THE BEST – Finished 7th in class F at Le Croisé-Laroche over 2825m on 13 May. Others are preferred in this line-up

1. BAD BOY – Runner-up in his last two starts including in a handicap at the venue on 26th April over 10f. Tries the trip and could pose a threat

2. SISKARO – Finished 6th of seven on debut in a claimer at Saint-Cloud on 10 May over 10f. Big step up in distance today and is hard to make a case for

3. BASHEER – Went off the mark on fifth career start at Pau on the all-weather on 25th January over 10f. Off since then and is hard to fancy

4. ARIGATO – Finished 5th in a Class 2 at the track on 10th May over 10.5f. Tries the trip today and could bounce back to winning form

5. ROSE D’ETE – Won two of her last three starts including a handicap over the course & distance on 10th May and can follow up

Summary: A sound handicap winner over the course & distance on 10 May, ROSE D’ETE (5) remains well placed in the weight and looks a solid winning prospect. ARIGATO (4) boast the highest rating in this contest and could surprise on his first attempt over the trip, which is also the case for stablemate BAD BOY (1) who has been knocking hard at the door. BASHEER (3) has been supplemented and could be worth a check in the market.
