French Selections Wednesday 5th

R1 LAVAL [L-H]
C1 – GRAND NATIONAL DU TROT – 2850m (a2m) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 90,000

1. GLOIRE DU PERCHE – Honest mare that reassured when 2nd of 15 in a 2950m Vichy Class D  on 13 May. Unlikely to spring a surprise but should still give an honourable account

2. HUBBLE DU VIVIER – Should not be too hastily judged for recent 12th of 15 in a 2100m Vincennes Class C on 17 May. Is plainly in form, appreciates the venue, and has a reasonable chance of trotting his way onto the podium

3. GREAT OF MADRIK – Made up for his Vincennes sanction when a fast-finishing 4th to HEDIC GEMA (6) in a 2450m Caen Class C on 11 May. Tends to go well at Laval and looks competitively well-in

4. HAPPY DANICA – Races barefoot after coming 11th of 13 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C a month ago. Always gives her best but may be biting off more than she can chew

5. FIFTY BLACK – Quality element but went off the boil late last season. 9th of 13 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C a month back and must first re-establish his credentials

6. HEDIC GEMA – Courageous winner of a 2450m Caen Class C on 11 May, making it 2 in a row. Has barefoot references here and from the front line will have his chances

7. IGREC DE CELLAND – Clocked his personal best over the distance, winning a 2800m Cordemais Gr.3 on 24 April. Went close last time here, starts in front and, with form maintained, can confirm

8. GAELIC DU ROCHER – Has form at this level but has not been seen out since coming 9th of 16 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D mid-December and will need the run

9. HANNIBAL TUILERIE – 4th of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class B late last month. Fine servant with decent Laval references but trainer reining this time and, from the 2nd line, will struggle to make his mark

10. ELISKA BERRY – 12th of 14 finishers when preparing for this in a 2850m Vincennes Class B last week. Still in conditioning-mode though and best to hold off

11. HIDALGO DES NOES – Races barefoot for the occasion after trotting 6th of 16 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B last Friday. Franck Nivard reining this time but still no more than a minor place prospect

12. J’AIME LE FOOT – Group-class trotter that has being pleasing in his own age group recently, latterly 3rd of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes Gr.2 a month ago but incurs the penalty and faces a stiff test with shoes on

13. IBIKI DE HOUELLE – 2nd to IGREC DE CELLAND (7) at Cordemais before winning next 2, latterly a 2825m Gr.3 at Le Croisé-Laroche a fortnight ago, and can make it 3 on the trot

14. GITANO – 5th of 12 in a 2650m Bordeaux Gr.3 last week. Faces a tough bunch here but, even from the back row, can make his presence felt

15. GOELAND D’HAUFOR – Pleasantly surprised when 4th behind GOELAND D’HAUFOR (15) in a 2850m Vincennes Class A 3 weeks ago. Seldom seen at the venue but has an interesting entry and can still get in on the action

16. GASPAR D’ANGIS – Unraced since coming 5th of 15 in a 2850m Vincennes Gr.3 late-March. Has nothing to prove at this level but is 50m worse off for re-entry and, shod for the occasion, can be disregarded

Summary: A tough crusader that has returned from his winter spell in excellent shape, IGREC DE CELLAND (7) accounted for the scalp of IBIKI DE HOUELLE (13) in the Cordemais edition of the GNT and is not incapable of repeating. That said, Eric Raffin’s charge has won 2 since, most recently the 2825m version at Le Croisé-Laroche, and can pull off the 3-timer. HEDIC GEMA (6) was particularly tenacious at Caen last time out and, from the front row, is also a hat-trick candidate. Course-and-distance winner last time here, HUBBLE DU VIVIER (2) missed the start at Vincennes recently but is fitted with just front pads this time and should make amends, provided Sébastien Ernault gets him off on the right foot.

SELECTIONS

C2 – PRIX DU CONSEIL REGIONAL DES PAYS DE LOIRE – 2850m (a2m) – Class G Race – Mounted – EUR € 25,000

1. HURIEL SPEEDHYCAT – Has 2 races under his belt, most recently last of 12 in a 3000m Class H at Neuillé-Pont-Pierre 10 days ago, and looks out of his depth here

2. IVANHOE JARZEEN – Went into his spell on a good note. Sanctioned on re-entry in a 2725m Graignes Class F last Thursday but is shod to preference this time and, with application, will not be far off the mark

3. HAPPY JAVANAIS – Reassured at Nantes early-May before faulting in a 3125m Rânes Class H later in the month and will need to get his house in order

4. IRPIEU DE VARVILLE – Surprise winner of a 2850m Maure-de-Bretagne Class F late-April. Comes here fresh, shod as he was that day, and will be competitive for a cheque

5. IZZIE PONCELET – Pleasant 2nd of 13 in a 2750m Elbeuf Class E a month back but even with Paul Ploquin in the irons this time, still looks to have her work cut out

6. ISIS JENILOU – 7th of 11 finishers when prepping for this in a 2850m Vire amateurs Class G late last month. Barefoot this time but others still preferred

7. IDEAL DES BRIERES – 11th of 13 in a 2700m Méral Class F on 12 May. Races without front shoes this time but others easier to trust

8. IMTITI – Would have finished closer than 6th in a 2875m Enghien Class D late last month had he not faulted in final stages. Should take well to Laval conditions and will be expected to redeem himself

9. HEROIC PARK – Won 4 in a row earlier this season. Raced better than his 6th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class D late last month would imply and, with stride in check this time, can put things right

10. ILEO PIERJI – Won 2 straight in the monté code before pulling off the 3-timer in a 3000m Châteaubriant harness Class E on 19 May. Has never disappointed at Laval and is in with a realistic shout of making it 4 on the trot

11. IL TROTTE JARL – Has been in fine for this year, most recently 3rd of 10 in a 2875m Enghien Class E early last month. Has respectable Laval credentials and can apply the pressure on ILEO PIERJI (10)

Summary: ILEO PIERJI (10) has never been in better form than he is now, securing the hat-trick under harness last month, and back under the saddle here, he looks the pick of the field. IMTITI (8) trotted 4th to him over course and distance late-April and can again play a role, but may first have to defer to the well-engaged, and barefoot, IL TROTTE JARL (11) who has been racing well in good company recently, and the talented HEROIC PARK (9) who drops down to a more reasonable level.

C3 – PRIX PIERRE SECHE – 2850m (a2m) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 8,000

1. HEROS DU GAVREGUET – Sanctioned in a 2850m Vire Class G late last month. Has otherwise been in decent shape but still represents no more than a minor place chance

2. GET ON – Disappointing on the whole this year, most recently last but one in a 2625m amateurs Class G at La Rochelle on 20 May, and can be passed over

3. IBANA DE MONTI – Modest mare that was unsurprisingly sanctioned in a 2750m Elbeuf Class F a month ago. Disregard

4. GOLD DE LA COUDRE – Sanctioned, on 2nd start back, in a 3000m Eauze Class F 10 days ago. Has excellent amateur credentials and, with shoes back on, can start to get back in the game

5. IDEE SMART – In the frame in first 2 since the break before faulting in a 3000m Le Neubourg Class H on 20 May. Breaks from the front and is good enough to challenge for a place in the frame

6. GAMME DE BASSIERE – 2nd in a Class G over course and distance on 17 May. Never far from faulting but can bring home the bacon if Julien Mouchard keeps her trotting

7. HARKANE DES BORDES – Sanctioned in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F on 19 May. Has solid amateur references though, enjoys a good entry, and is worth retaining for a minor place

8. GRANDE MALICE – 7th of 9 finishers in a 2850m Laon amateurs Class G 10 days ago. On 2nd line again and can be ruled out

9. GRISBI DU VIVIER – 8th of 11 finishers in a 2625m Morlaix Class F on 12 May. Has fine amateur references, and front shoes off for the occasion but, in current condition, will have few friends

10. HALAFOLY ROBSEN – Produced a brace of decent professional performances before coming 7th of 10 in a 2550m Reims Class E on 20 May. Hind shoes off, from the 2nd row, and appears to have her work cut out

11. FEE D’AMARO – Returns to the amateur ranks after coming 6th of 15 in a 2100m Vincennes claimer mid-April. Front pads fitted this time but still not an obvious choice

12. FAB RUSH – Encouraging 2nd of 12 in a 2700m Graignes amateurs Class G on 12 May. Confirmed here [early] in his career and, in present shape, can figure prominently

13. HARMONIA MELODY – 2nd of 12 in a 2600m Le Touquet monté Class B on 19 May. Has decent harness references and, if form transitions, can finish close

14. FRANKLIN STAR – Won over track and trip late-March and most recently 2nd under similar conditions behind GAMME DE BASSIERE (6) last month. Incurs the penalty but is a game mare and Jérémy Roux will be focused on revenge

15. GREFFIERS FLINOIS – Reassuring 5th of 12 in a 2600m Class H at Châlons-en-Champagne late last month. Has won 3 of last 4 in the amateur division and must not be underestimated

16. HANUGAN – 2nd of 6 in a 2725m Lisieux monté Class E 10 days ago. Forced to start with a 50m handicap and is not about to spring any surprises

Summary: Although not always the most focused of mares, GAMME DE BASSIERE (6) came 2nd here mid-May, is nicely-placed in front, and can win this if she deigns to keep her action together. A place behind her that day, and sporting a revised configuration, FRANKLIN STAR (14) is once again 25m worse off but has already won here this term and is not incapable of turning the tables. Arguably more capable in the other code, HARMONIA MELODY (13) is plainly in form and unlikely to be far off the mark. IDEE SMART (5) has returned to competition in fine form and will be expected to make up for her recent sanction.

C4 – PRIX DU PMU “LE BRETAGNE” – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 23,000

1. LEMON DE LA VALLEE – Produced his career-best performance when 4th of 8 finishers in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class F 3 weeks ago, but in this category will have too much to do

2. LIKABLE DE LOU – Sanctioned, for the 2nd time in a row, in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class E 10 days ago. Could have won that day had he kept trotting and Alexandre Abrivard will be out to set the record straight

3. LOVER FACE BOY – Put away after winning on debut, then sanctioned on re-entry 17 days ago in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class D. Showed his form though and, with application, will be no easy touch

4. LONG LEGEND – Failed to confirm her Vire success when sanctioned early in a 2875m Enghien Class D late last month but Julien Dubois will be loathe to allow the same thing to happen again. One to watch

5. LOVE ME HAUFOR – Serious sort that faulted in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 25 May, but form is not in doubt, and returning to racing shod may prove just the ticket. Claim

6. LOVELY FACE – Solid in first 2 but showed a different side when lifting a 2625m Cherbourg Class F last week. Comes here fresh and the Raffin-factor cannot be ignored. Chance

7. LISA MONA BLUE – Disappointing last of 6 in a 2500m Class C at La Rochelle on 12 May and, even with front pads fitted, will struggle to make any impact

8. LUNELLA LEMAN – Won on debut but put away mid-January after coming 3rd of 12 in a 2175m Vincennes Class D. Unraced since and will need the run

9. LORENZO DAIRPET – Forced to change tack in the straight, coming 6th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 25 May. Is clearly capable and can make first 3 if Benjamin Rochard keeps him out of trouble

10. LUSITANIA – Solid in 2 before faulting in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 25 May. In better company this time and unlikely to spring a surprise

11. LADY PETTEVINIERE – In the frame in last 3, latterly 2nd of 13 in a Class E under these conditions, but is pitted against better on this occasion and others preferred

12. LIPTON LATAL – Set his personal best chrono when winning a 2700m Graignes Class F in good order late last month and, if still on the boil, can double his money

13. LORD TURGOT – Got off the mark in style a month ago, winning a 2950m Vichy Class D. Takes on better this time but is a progressive sort and should not be overlooked

Summary: Pleasant 5th here late-April, LIPTON LATAL (12) went on to open his account with ease at Graignes recently and has every chance of confirming. That said, the promising LOVE ME HAUFOR (5) returns to racing shod following his Enghien sanction and will be dangerous if he takes to the Laval profile. A good sort in the making, LOVELY FACE (6) made short shrift of a Cherbourg Class F late-April and, entrusted to Eric Raffin for the first time, will be afforded every chance. LORENZO DAIRPET (9) is better than his recent Enghien result would suggest and must be treated with respect.

SELECTIONS
LIPTON LATAL (12) – LOVE ME HAUFOR (5) – LOVELY FACE (6) – LORENZO DAIRPET (9)
C5 – PRIX HENRI DESMONTILS – 2850m (a2m) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 39,000

1. IMPALA DE VAL – Has won 5 from 7 with hind shoes off, most recently a Class D over course and distance on 25 April, and has claims on the double

2. GAGNANT GEMA – Sent for a break in January after finishing 10th of 11 to GOLD DU VAL (4) in a 2175m Vincennes Class D. Is barefoot for re-entry and will have his supporters

3. IRINA DE BAILLY – Group 2-placed mare but lacklustre for some time. Sanctioned in a 2700m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago and can be passed over

4. GOLD DU VAL – Kicked the year off successfully but unexceptional since. 7th of 9 finishers in a 2250m Enghien Class C late-March, comes here fresh though, and should not be overlooked

5. FEE DU VERNAY – On a fine run of form before coming 8th of 15 in a 2950m Vichy Class D on 13 May. Shoes back on and others preferred

6. ICAMORA DE HOUELLE – 2nd of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class C on 28 May. Consistently in the thick of things when applied and will be competitive for a place in the mix

7. FINGER DE RODREY – Last of 11 in 28 May race of reference. Has done noting noteworthy for over a year and is not about to change his ways

8. DETROIT ACE – Finished 6th, a place behind HERE I GO AGAIN (14), at Enghien before faulting in a 2725m Lisieux amateurs Class E 10 days ago. On better behaviour though, can figure prominently

9. GUAPO MARBOULA – Capable on a good day but sanctioned in last 4, latterly a 2700m Vincennes Class harness C. Shod for return to the monté code and can be ruled out

10. HERMINE GIRL – Last but one in 20 April race of reference. Front shoes off this time but others still preferred

11. GLADYS DU CEDRE – 5th of 11 behind ICAMORA DE HOUELLE (6) in a 2850m Vincennes Class C 8 days ago. Stable going good-guns and is unlikely to disappoint

12. DAHLIA DU PONT – Disappointing since last autumn, most recently 8th to ICAMORA DE HOUELLE (6) late last month, and can be written off

13. GAVROCHE BEST – Sanctioned in last 3, latterly a 3125m Angers Class D early-April. Is not without merit but still not an obvious choice

14. HERE I GO AGAIN – Given time to recuperate after coming 5th of 11 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class C on 20 April. Adores Laval and looks main danger to IMPALA DE VAL (1)

15. DIEGO DECOULGENS – Failed to confirm his Cavaillon success when 9th to HERE I GO AGAIN (14) in 20 April race of reference. Shoes back on this time and can start to put things right

Summary: A veritable steamroller in his current configuration, IMPALA DE VAL (1) flew up here late-April and, even stepping up in category, will take some beating. HERE I GO AGAIN (14) beat a number of these last time out, enjoys a good entry, sports a proven configuration, and looks his main rival. ICAMORA DE HOUELLE (6) is hard to knock when focused, is clearly in form and, while unlikely to win, can still finish in the mix. GLADYS DU CEDRE (11) has never delivered at Laval but she encouraged last week and the engagement of Alexis Collette will do her prospects no harm.

SELECTIONS
IMPALA DE VAL (1) – HERE I GO AGAIN (14) – ICAMORA DE HOUELLE (6) – GLADYS DU CEDRE (11)
C6 – PRIX BARONS GUY ET JACQUES DE MEYNARD – 2850m (a2m) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 27,000

1. KERMES – Faulted in a 2150m Vichy Class C 2 weeks ago. Very disappointing this year and, even sporting a new configuration, has a lot more to find

2. KIM DE BEAUM – Has not been seen out since coming 9th of 10 in a 2175m Vincennes Class B mid-January. Shoes back on and poses no threat

3. KEN DU POMMEREUX – Lacklustre last of 13 on comeback in 21 May race of reference. Races first time barefoot but chances still limited

4. KOALA BLUE – Put away after making it 3 straight sanctions in a 2700m Vincennes Class B late-February and can expect to remain friendless

5. KENTUCKY VALLEY – Useful mare but unseen since trotting last of 8 in a 2450m Caen monté Gr.1 last October. Shod for return and best to hold off

6. KASBAH PERRINE – Unraced since coming 5th of 11 in a 2175m Vincennes monté Gr.2 late-January. Has other priorities and can be passed over

7. KAZY MERITE – 5th, a place behind KARAMBAR (8), in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Always gives his best and makes his Laval debut with a respectable chance of getting a look-in

8. KARAMBAR – Winner of 4 from 5 last season. 4th on re-entry 3 weeks ago in a 2100m Vincennes Class D. Unbeaten in the day’s configuration and must be afforded significant respect

9. KAPORAL VISAIS – Back in his category after coming 11th of 13 behind KANDEL DE BEYLEV (13) in a 2700m Vincennes Class C 2 weeks ago. Has previously delivered for Benjamin Rochard and will have his supporters

10. KATCHI QUICK – Sent for a rest after winning a 2700m Vincennes Class D last February. Is competitively-shod for comeback and can give KANDEL DE BEYLEV (13) a run for his money

11. KRONOS DU KLAU – No slouch on a good day but endured traffic problems when sanctioned in a 2500m Reims Class D on 17 April. Comes here fresh but others still preferred

12. KHEO VIVANCIERE – Excellent on re-entry but never at his ease when 8th behind KANDEL DE BEYLEV (13) in Vincennes race of reference. With a better trip can make amends and play a leading role

13. KANDEL DE BEYLEV – Classy colt that came in a pleasant 5th of 14, in a good field, over 2700m in a Vincennes Class C a fortnight ago. Has nothing to prove in this category and can make this his own

14. KIROMAN – Makes his first appearance since trotting last but one in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 11 March. Faces a stiff test here and, even though unshod-behind, is unlikely to generate much interest

15. KEY OF LOVE – Has ability, and has previously delivered here, but last of 13 in a 2700m Vincennes Class B a month ago, and will need to show marked improvement

16. KALINDA DU PARC – Good 2nd of 13 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D on 10 May. Is reunited with Eric Raffin for whom she won last season, has an entry-made-in-heaven, and will not be far from the action if she takes to the Laval profile

Summary: Very impressive last season, KANDEL DE BEYLEV (13) missed the start in Paris last time out but nevertheless showed his form, and even though shod, still looks the horse to beat. Thierry Duvaldestin’s progressive KATCHI QUICK (10) has not been seen out since winning at Vincennes last February but sports front pads as he did then, and looks the main threat. The normally-dependable KHEO VIVANCIERE (12) was out of sorts behind the favourite recently but will be expected to set the record straight. Returning to racing with just front shoes off, KARAMBAR (8) made a fine comeback and will be no pushover.

C7 – PRIX V AND B LAVAL – 2850m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 27,000

1. JAVA D’ANAMA – Failed to confirm her Bordeaux success when 8th to JUMBY BAY in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a fortnight back. Sanctioned in last 2 here, but form is not in question and, with application, can get a look-in

2. JALNA DU GERS – 7th of 10 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 26 April. Shoes back on and others preferred

3. JAFF DE MESLAY – Switches back to the harness code after coming 4th of 8 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D on 23 April. Shoes on and can be ruled out

4. JO DU DON – Sanctioned on re-entry in a 2950m Le Mans Class E on 8 May. Shoes off this time, has previously won here, but others still preferred

5. JONAGOLD – Sanctioned in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D 10 days ago. Is currently off the boil and already looks an also-ran

6. JUNIOR DU CHERISAY – Last of 8 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D on 12 April. Shoes on again and best to hold off

7. JESSY DES PISTES – Starts for the first time since coming last of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class C late-February. Shoes on and no threat

8. JADE HERINIERE – Won at Vichy before coming 5th of 8 finishers in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D 10 days ago. Unshod-all-4 this time and, while not a priority, can nevertheless play a small part

9. JASMINE D’OUILLY – 9th of 15 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D a month ago. Has struggled this term and is not about to shake things up

10. JIANFRANCO – Has 2 races under his belt, latterly 9th of 10 finishers in a 2625m Class D at La Rochelle on 21 April. Shod to preference this time, has previously won here, and will have his chances

11. JETIDA – Unraced since coming 8th of 12 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D on comeback mid-April. Will have come on for the run, is unbeaten here, and must be taken seriously

12. JAGUAR PIYA – Has been flying under the saddle lately, most recently 2nd of 13 in a 2875m Argentan Class E mid-April. Here for reasons of conditioning though and, with shoes on, will have little to offer

13. JETPACK – Makes first appearance since trotting 5th of 11 over 2140m at Jägersro late-March. Hind shoes off for re-entry but is expected no need the outing

14. JAGERBOMB – Faulted early in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D 10 days ago. Simply excels at Laval however and can add to his fine tally. Claim

15. JUMBY BAY – Knocking at the door lately, most recently 2nd of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a fortnight ago. Should take well to Laval conditions and will be competitive for a place on the podium

16. JOJO LAPIN – Sent for a spell after coming 6th of 9 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class D late-March. Is barefoot for re-entry, with the champion driver reining, and will have a claim on the prize

Summary: After a pair of re-entry runs, JIANFRANCO (10) races in his favoured configuration this time and, confirmed at the venue, must be considered a leading proposition. Arnaud Chavatte will nevertheless be keeping an eye on JAGERBOMB (14) who has been enjoying a love-affair with Laval since 2022. JOJO LAPIN (16) benefits from an excellent entry, is unbeaten in 2 starts for Eric Raffin, and looks a possible spoiler. JUMBY BAY (15) is clearly close to her race and, even though shod, still looks a player.

C8 – PRIX HARMONIE AMBULANCE – 2850m (a2m) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 31,000

1. HERMINE DU GUELIER – Makes first appearance since trotting last but one in a monté Class E over course and distance mid-February. Preparing for a campaign under the saddle and can be ruled out

2. INDIANA D’ESPACE – Versatile sort that has been knocking at the door recently, latterly 5th of 13 in a 2900m Arras Class G on 20 May. In better company this time and is unlikely to influence the result

3. IMPERATOR D’ELA – On a fine run of form this term, most recently winning a 2700m Vincennes Class D in fine fashion, and can expect to garner the lion’s share of support

4. IVANA DES RACQUES – Won at Amiens before coming 6th, a place behind INDIEN DE FONTAINE (14) in a 2875m Argentan Class D 10 days ago. Not a priority but should still acquit herself competitively

5. ICARE DU VENT – Returned to winning ways on 12 May in a 2700m Méral Class F. In superior company here and chances limited

6. HIATUS – Disappointing this year, most recently 11th of 13 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F 10 days ago, and can be confidently passed over

7. HIROSS – Starts for the first time since coming 11th of 16 in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F 4 months ago and will need the run

8. HOKKAIDA – Last of 10, on return from a lengthy break, in a 3500m Savigny-sur-Braye Class F on 9 May. Shoes on and no threat

9. IDOLE DE RETZ – Quality individual that came an easy 2nd of 13 in a 2875m Enghien Class D late last month. Is better when barefoot but will still have her chances

10. INSTINCTIF – Last but one in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F on re-entry last month. Is better than previous results would suggest and is not incapable of setting the cat among the pigeons

11. INDICE DELADOU – Moves to the harness code after coming a modest 5th of 8 in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine monté Class F mid-May and is not about to shake things up

12. INFINIMENT CITRON – Made short work of a Laval Class F before faulting in a 3500m Class F at  Savigny-sur-Braye on 9 May. With stride in check though, can make a big splash

13. HARBOUR D’ORGERES – Ended last season on a low note but reassured on re-entry, 17 days ago, when 3rd of 15 in a 2600m Le Touquet Class F and can repeat, provided Mathieu Mottier keeps him trotting

14. INDIEN DE FONTAINE – Has not got her nose in front since last autumn but encouraging 5th of 13 in a 2875m Argentan Class D 10 days ago. Has previously won here and, although unlikely to repeat, can nevertheless make first 5

Summary: IMPERATOR D’ELA (3) more than made amends for his April blip with a dogged Vincennes success 12 days ago and, in similar form, can repeat. Anthony Barrier will nonetheless be wary of INFINIMENT CITRON (12) who scored smartly under these conditions in April, and the hardy INSTINCTIF (10) who is shod to preference following a much-needed return run. The tricky HARBOUR D’ORGERES (13) pleasantly surprised on his recent return to competition and, with modified shoeing, will not be far off the mark.

4. PIC PEN – Dam won twice over 1200m and 1400m. This filly could need a couple runs before showing something positive.

6. REINE DU CIEL – Ran a solid race in 3rd spot over 1200m at Marseille Borely on the 27th of May 2024. Place claims

Summary: FRAISE DES BOIS (1) is on the up and looks to be going places. She sets the standard and looks to be hard to oppose in her bid to make it 3-3. HELLO JEEBY (2) found one to good last time out and it seems unlikely that he can turn the form around on 3.5kgs worse weight terms. MISS LACOUMA (7) can build on her debut performance and should be in the money.  REINE DU CIEL (6) showed improvement last time out and could earn again.

5. SOFT WINDS – Finished 2nd over 2000m in a Class 1 at Le Lion D’angers on the 9th of May 2024. Winning claims

Summary: SOFT WINDS (5) met slightly stronger opposition last time out and with the drop in class looking favorable, she could get the job done. SHASTANA (1) looks to be the only other realistic winning hope after shedding her maiden tag last time out. She can provide the biggest threat. ZINGARELLE (3) will strip a fitter horse for this run and should be able to run into the money. BLOU LAGOON (2) is likely to struggle against this lot but is best of the rest.

PEGGY (9) is another that is progressing with racing experience and can give plenty cheek to the first selection. Summary: PREMIERE D’ESTEJO (3) is ultra-consistent, honest and tries hard. Her form tells us that. She finished 2nd last time at Lyon Parilly and is confidently selected to go one better. JORDAN BAKER (10) has been running well and should be able to notch up another victory soon. Strong each way claims. CHIEF RED CLOUD (14) ran a much better race at Toulouse on the 21st of last month and based on that alone, must be included in the quartet. 1. ROXY MUSIC – Consistent hard-knocker with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 5th over 1600m in a PSF handicap at Chantilly on 17 May. Not taken lightly

2. TWIN BOY – Won a 1400m Le Lion-d’Angers handicap two starts back and is confirmed at this level. Ought to do better than his latest 8th in a 1300m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 25 May

3. VEGA DREAM – Honest veteran with sound references in handicaps although has gone off the boil recently – only 8th in a 1300m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 25 May

4. SHAMASUN – Runner-up in a 1400m Saint-Cloud handicap in April but yet to confirm that form/improvement in two subsequent outings. Could only finish 10th in a 1300m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 25 May

5. IRISHKAMAYA – Unreliable filly soundly beaten in her last 2 starts – the latest (10th) over 1400m at ParisLongchamp on 16 May but has dropped considerably in the weights/ratings to her career-low current mark

6. DANDY COOL – Consistent hard-knocker with sound references/form credentials in handicaps, including a recent 7th over 1300m at Saint-Cloud on 25 May. Keep safe

7. DORIANELLO – Consistent performer with solid references/credentials, having finished in the first four in 4 of his 6 appearances this year. Caught the eye when 5th over 1950m in a similar contest at Châteaubriant on 12 May

8. SPACE FORCE – Well-beaten 9th in a 1400m PSF handicap at Pau on 12 January. Best watched for now on his reappearance

9. SALSA CHIC – Sparked improvement when 3rd in a 1400m ParisLongchamp handicap in April – failed to confirm that form/improvement in both subsequent starts. Only 13th in 1300m handicap at Saint-Cloud on 25 May

10. AZUR AS WELL – Unlucky not to have achieved a better finishing position in a 1600m Toulouse handicap on 21 May, so shouldn’t be hastily condemned for that effort (8th). Has the means to play a leading role

11. LA FLACA – Unplaced in all 4 outings this year, the latest (7th) over 1200m at Evreux on 22 May. Dropped 1kg in the weights/ratings

12. CAP SKIRRING – Returned to form with an encouraging 3rd over 1400m in a conditions race at Niort on 26 May. Confirmation required

13. SILVER SEA – Yet to find the frame in 9 appearances and is not likely to trouble the judge after finishing 9th in a minor 2200m conditions race Rostrenen on 19 May

14. KAMETA – A 10-start maiden yet to find the frame but has dropped considerably in the weights/ratings to her career-low current mark, so could do better than her recent 7th over 1600m at Vichy on 15 May

Summary: Competitive opening event in which it could pay to side with TWIN BOY (2), despite a disappointing last start. He will, however, need to bounce back to the form of his previous outing (victory) to thwart the challenge of DORIANELLO (7) who arrives in good form and physical condition. IRISHKAMAYA (5) and AZUR AS WELL (10) are out of sorts but retain the means to make their presence felt in a race of this ilk. DANDY COOL (6) and ROXY MUSIC (1) are place prospects.

3. REDPEARL – Runner-up in consecutive starts, including on his handicap debut, before finishing 5th over a mile in a handicap at Le Mans on 15 May. This shorter distance will be more to his liking

4. RUN FOR HOME – Last-start winner of a 1200m conditions race at Le Lion-d’Angers on 23 May. Reverts to handicaps under a 3,5kg penalty

5. SOVEREIGN – Finished an encouraging 5th over 1200m on her handicap debut at Marseille-Borely on 27 May. Can get into the picture

6. GRAND ANGEL – Has run well in both handicap appearances – finished 3rd on PSF over 1400m and 2nd over 1850m on turf. Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th over 1800m at ParisLongchamp on 5 May – will be a factor

7. STORMYGO – A 10-start maiden who has placed just once (2nd on debut in May last year). Didn’t go unnoticed on his reappearance (5th) over 1200m at Le Lion-d’Angers on 23 May – dark horse

8. COMMEAUX – Soundly beaten in both outings last year and finished a well-beaten 8th on the PSF over 1900m on his reappearance at Deauville on 3 February. Best watched for now on his handicap debut

9. SCAN FOR CHAMPAGNE – Unplaced (7th) in his only handicap appearance and has achieved his best references (2nd and 3rd) in the claiming category. Finished 12th over 1100m at Le Croisé-Laroche on 19 May – best ignored

12. LEYLA CHOPE – Unplaced in all 3 starts, including her only appearance in the claiming category. Well-beaten 9th at Nancy over 2000m on 22 May – others preferred on her handicap debut

13. AMOUREUSE – Unplaced in all 7 appearances this year, including four consecutive recent outings on turf. Hard to recommend after finishing 8th in a 1400m handicap at Chantilly on 17 May

14. BELLAMORE – Yet to find the frame in 7 outings and is again unlikely to trouble the judge after finishing 10th in a 1400m handicap at Chantilly on 17 May

Summary: TEMPLETON (2) has strung together a series of good performances and will be rewarded for her consistency sooner rather than later. She finished 2nd (the third in her last four starts) last time and should fight for victory with a similar display in this handicap. CHUNKA WAKAN (10) caught the eye with an improved recent outing (3rd) and needs only to confirm that form/progress to pose a threat. Consistent GRAND ANGEL and last-start winner (6) REDPEARL (3) are also likely to play leading roles. LAFAYETTE (1), SOVEREIGN (5) and STORMYGO (7) appeal most of the remainder.

1. ZOUZAL – Wasn’t disgraced in finishing 8th on debut over 1200m at Chantilly in a stronger race than this. Will have more to offer at this level with that run under his belt

2. MARVIN OF SUCCESS – Has shown enough in two outings at a higher level to win a race of this nature. Finished 5th in both outings, the latest over 1200m at Marseille-Borely on 10 May

3. DUFY – Unplaced in his two racecourse appearances, both in claimers – the latest (5th) over 1200m at Evreux on 22 May. Improvement needed

4. MIA WAVE – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th on debut but was slightly disappointing when only 6th in a 1300m claimer at Saint-Cloud on 14 May. Shouldn’t be hastily condemned

5. SAHARIENNE – Jean Baudron-trained Zarak debutante owned by Jean-Pierre-Joseph Dubois. Not underestimated with Enzo Crublet engaged to ride

6. KISS ME CHOP – Finished 7th on debut over 1200m at Bordeaux-Le Bouscat on 16 May. Would’ve benefitted from that experience

7. NEW WAY BABY – Confirmed the promise of her debut 4th by winning a 1200m claimer at Evreux on 22 May. Will have a role to play

8. MOON OF THE NIGHT – Unplaced in both outings, the latest (9th) over 1100m on 15 May in a Le Mans conditions race much stronger than the one she lines  up in here. Keep safe

9. EXPLOSIVE ACTION – Unplaced in her two outings, both in the claiming category – the latest (9th) over 1200m on 3 May at Marseille-Borely. Improvement needed

10. FARFA – Davide Satalia-trained Kodi Bear filly to be ridden on debut by Axelle Nicco whose 1,5kg allowance should aid the cause of this newcomer

Summary: MARVIN OF SUCCESS (2) has his sights lowered for this two-year-old claimer so seems a serious contender for victory. ZOUZAL (1), for whom this also represents a drop in grade, is also likely to improve with the benefit of an introductory outing and, as such, could pose a threat. Improving last-start winner NEW WAY BABY (7) has shown enough to suggest she can join the fight for victory. MIA WAVE (4), MOON OF THE NIGHT (8) and SAHARIENNE (5) complete the shortlist.

3. BONNIE HOPPS – Holding her form well and was third last time out in a handicap at ParisLongchamp over this distance on 26 May. Be right there at the finish

14. GORMLAITH – Ended off 2023 in good form and clearly needed the only run of this year when 7th in a handicap at Le Mans over 1950m on 15 May. Fitter now and should be a threat

Summary: A very open-looking race. BONNIE HOPPS (3) is in good form and gets the vote to score. LEPTI PRINSADI (5) won nicely last time out over further but is not out of it in this line-up. GORMLAITH (14) needed the last run and was in good form late last year so would not be a surprise winner. MISSRIYA (2) has already won twice this year and will have her supporters.
