Summary: JIEPIES MELODY (4) is banging loudly at the door for her second career victory and today is confidently selected to be the day. RED NUDE ROUGE (3) is a tad erratic but has solid form and on very best efforts, can threaten all the way home. Big chance. 13. LADY LAWA – A daughter of Dabirsim out of a War Front mare that makes the debut. Watch the betting trends as race time looms

Summary: SAILAWAYWITHME (7) is lightly raced and more than likely has a lot more to give. She finished 3rd at Compiegne last time and is the winning selection. ST ELVIRA (10) ran an absolute cracker at only the second time of asking in a Listed race, but in Germany. She has a massive chance. C5 – PRIX PERPLEXITE – 2200m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 28,000

1. ASTROLOGER – Rewarded for his consistency with a last-start maiden success over 2400m at Wissembourg on 8 June. Could have more to offer sent handicapping

3. MON FLAMANT – Caught the eye, despite an unfavourable trip, when 3rd on handicap debut over 2100m at this venue on 23 May. Winning chance

6. VERA – Improving last-start winner over 2200m at Dieppe on 29 May. Open to further progress on handicap debut

8. INTUITION – Not beaten far in 3 claimers recently, the latest (5th) over 2000m at this venue on 6 June. Dark horse

9. VILLA DES ARTS – Returned to form with an encouraging 2nd over 2400m in a conditions race at Saint-Cloud on 14 May. Not taken lightly on her handicap debut

10. CHESTER SKY – Consistent Adrien Fouassier-trained gelding with sound references in handicaps on both surfaces. Didn’t go unnoticed when 7th in a 1600m handicap at this venue on 26 May

11. GRAND LILI – Wasn’t disgraced when returning from a 3-month absence to finish 7th over 2000m on handicap debut at Compiegne on 7 June. Open to improvement

12. CHANAZ – Improving colt with sound references/form credentials in handicaps – includes finishing 3rd in consecutive 2000m handicaps, the latest at Lyon-Parilly on 1 June. Keep safe

Summary: MON FLAMANT (3), who is co-owned by Massimiliano Allegri, didn’t have the smoothest run in transit but ran on well to finish ahead of PROBABLY ME (2) in a 2100m handicap at this venue last time and is good value to confirm his superiority. However, given the strength and consistency of his form, consistent CHANAZ (12) also has the means to fight for victory under bottom weight. VILLA DES ARTS (9) finished a reassuring 2nd in her last start and need only confirm that form/improvement to have a say in the outcome.

C6 – DARLEY PRIX DE THIBERVILLE – 2400m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Listed Race – Flat – EUR € 55,000

1. LEMSAIRBAT – Built on the encouragement of a pleasing introduction (6th) to finish 2nd over 2000m on heavy ground at Compiegne on 31 May. More needed

3. LAVENDER LACE – Exciting prospect whose chances at this level shouldn’t be underestimated, with improvement likely after a winning debut over 2000m at this venue on 26 May. Keep safe

4. LE COMBAT CONTINUE – Improving sort who has appreciated racing beyond 2000m, winning back-to-back 2200m races at (latest on 18 May) at Lyon-Parilly. Dark horse

5. WHERE I WANNA BE – Finished a well-held 3rd in a recent (25 May) Listed race over 2000m at Goodwood on her reappearance. Ought to have improved with the benefit of that comeback outing

6. CHASUBLE – Revealed considerable means in 3 starts on PSF and showed her versatility/effective on turf when finishing 3rd in a 2200m Class 2 conditions race at Nantes on 30 May – has more to do

7. OUR GOLDEN ONE – Finished 5th (of 5) in a 2000m Listed race at Newbury on 18 May. Wasn’t beaten far that day but will have to improve to make her presence felt

8. MOSAIQUE – Progressive filly. Confirmed the promise/improvement of her maiden win by finishing 3rd in a Group III at Chantilly over 2400m on 2 June. Winning chance

Summary: MOSAIQUE (8) confirmed the form and improvement of her Saint-Cloud success last month by following up with a good 3rd in a Group III race at Chantilly last time. She finished ahead of STRASSIA (2) on that occasion and is worth siding with here at the expense of that rival. Well-bred LAVENDER LACE (3) is an interesting runner open to any amount of improvement after a debut win over 2000m at this venue. British raider WHERE I WANNA BE (5) isn’t underestimated either, having finished 3rd in a Listed race at Goodwood when last seen.

C7 – PRIX DU NABOB – 2200m (a1m1/2) – TURF – Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 55,000

1. DSCHINGIS DREAM – Lightly raced colt with undeniable means – boasts sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 3rd in a competitive conditions race over 2350m at Angers on 29 May. Not taken lightly on handicap debut

2. BENIMARU – Has improved with each outing and confirmed as much with a last-start win over at 1950m Châteaubriant on 12 May. Makes his handicap/Quinte+ debut off a relatively high opening mark but has to be respected

3. MEAUTIS – Consistent colt with sound references/form credentials, albeit without winning. Caught the eye when 5th on handicap/Quinte+ debut before showing his form/well-being with a good 3rd over 1950m at this venue on 30 May – dark horse

4. MISSION ALPHA – Improving last-start winner at this venue over 2000m on 9 May. Pitched into a handicap/Quinte for the first time off a relatively high opening mark but is dangerous to discount

5. SPINELLO – Improving, unexposed colt with undeniable ability – finished 2nd in consecutive conditions races over 2400m at Saint-Cloud, the latest on 14 May. Not taken lightly on his handicap/Quinte+ debut

6. DAY TRADER – Has won twice in the handicaps, the latest at Evreux over 2500m in April, but appeared to struggle under a 4kg penalty when only 5th over 2700m in a handicap at this venue on 23 May. For another day

7. VAZIRHAN – Opened his account on handicap debut over 2400m at Lyon-Parilly and confirmed that form/improvement (under a 4kg penalty) by finishing 5th in his first Quinte+ appearance over 2100m at this venue on 23 May

8. KING TREZY – Consistent colt with solid form references/credentials, albeit without a victory. Finished an eye-catching 3rd in his first handicap/Quinte+ start over 2100m, behind STAR OF THE NIGHT (9), at this venue on 23 May

9. STAR OF THE NIGHT – Won back-to-back 2000m races, the latest a handicap at Saint-Cloud, before finishing a close-up 2nd in her Quinté+ debut over 2100m at this venue on 23 May. Candidate for success

10. MEHLANGO – Belatedly opened his account by winning a 2100m handicap at this venue on 23 May and a resultant 2,5kg penalty is unlikely to halt his momentum. Keep safe

11. TILILA – Consistent filly with sound references on PSF, including a Quinte+ 2nd over 1900m at Chantilly in March. Could only finish 8th in her first start on turf in a Quinte+ handicap at Chantilly on 29 April – for another day

12. AL HABISSET – Won back-to-back 2400m races on PSF, including her handicap debut at Lyon-La Soie in April. Made little impression when only 8th in a 2100m handicap (her first start on turf) at this venue on 23 May – outsider

13. MIA MAN – Finished an encouraging 3rd on his handicap debut at Chantilly (on heavy ground over 2400m) last month but was soundly beaten (8th) over 2700m in his first appearance at this venue on 23 May. Others preferred

14. AGORIA – Revealed considerable means in 3 starts on the PSF but has looked less effective on turf – unplaced in both outings in Quinte+ handicaps, the latest (14th) over 2100m at this venue on 23 May. Best watched for now

15. GOOSEBUMPY – Showed promise in 3 starts as a two-year-old but has disappointed this term – unplaced in both comeback appearances, the latest (6th) in a 1950m conditions race at this venue on 30 May. Makes handicap debut

16. ZARAKIVA – Unexposed filly who runs well under Sophie Chuette. Best watched for now, though, having finished 5th in consecutive 2400m conditions races at Saint-Cloud, the latest on 14 May

Summary: STAR OF THE NIGHT (9) confirmed the form of her handicap victory at Saint-Cloud by only narrowly failing to follow up in her first Quinté+ appearance over 2100m at this venue last month, proving her competitiveness at this level off her current mark. She need only repeat that performance to fight for victory with VAZIRHAN (7), who renews rivalry after an encouraging Quinté debut (5th) in the same race. MEHLANGO (10) opened his account in a 2100m handicap at this venue last time and a resultant 2,5kg penalty is unlikely to halt his momentum. DSCHINGIS DREAM (1), KING TREZY (8), who is closely matched on the form of a recent meeting with the selection, and improving last-start winner BENIMARU (2) are other candidates for a podium berth.

C8 – PRIX DU CHATEAU DE VANVES – 2100m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Class 3 Claiming – Flat – EUR € 26,000

1. MONTY – Well-performed veteran who caught the eye when finishing 5th on his reappearance at Compiègne over 2000m on 7 June. Warrants serious respect at this level with improved fitness on his side

2. GAIDAR – Consistent for the most part and has references on both surfaces, although probably most effective on PSF (both wins on the all-weather). Finished a well-beaten 10th in a 2400m Quinte+ at Chantilly on 4 April

3. JAHIDIN – Finished 2nd in a 1500m PSF claimer in his first start on French soil but has disappointed in 3 subsequent outings – the latest (7th) in a 1400m claimer at this venue on 16 May. For another day

4. CENTRAL PARK WEST – Unplaced in consecutive Quinté+ handicaps recently but wasn’t beaten far in either, the latest (9th) over 2000m at Marseille-Borely on 27 May. Not taken lightly

5. SPEECHMAN – Consistent, lightly raced and versatile performer with solid form references/credentials on both surfaces, including a last-start Quinté success on PSF over 1900m at Deauville on 9 April. Sets the standard

6. ALZIR – Unplaced in each of his 3 starts, twice last year and, most recently (9th), on his reappearance at Berlin over 2000m on 28 April. Others preferred

7. WUKHANN – Consistent stayer with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start victory at Marseille-Borély over 2600m on 7 June. Keep safe

Summary: Versatile SPEECHMAN (5) is equally adept on turf as he is on PSF and is good value to build on his last-start Quinte+ victory on PSF with another success in his first start at this level, despite a 3kg penalty. CENTRAL PARK WEST (4) has finished unplaced in back-to-back Quinte+ races on turf recently but wasn’t beaten far in either and remains capable of playing a leading role, with top-rated/top-weighted veteran MONTY (1) also likely to make life difficult for the selection after an encouraging comeback at Compiègne. Consistent last-start scorer WUKHANN (7) completes the shortlist.

1. LOUVE PRECIEUSE – Has won under Maxime Guyon, with whom she is reunited after an encouraging last-start 2nd over 1350m at Wissembourg on 8 June. Keep safe

2. GRACEHILL – Returned to form with a reassuring 3rd over 1350m at Wissembourg on 8 June. Can get a look in with a repeat of that performance

3. CHICAGO – Seldom far off the mark since switching to handicaps but needs to spark improvement to be competitive, having finished 7th over 1400m at Compiegne on 12 June

4. SALSA CHIC – Soundly beaten in back-to-back recent handicaps, the latest (11th) over 1300m at Argentan on 5 June. Outsider

5. BELCHA – Capable veteran with references in handicaps off a higher rating – seldom far off the mark. Reverts to this category after finishing a well-beaten 12th over 1800m at Nort-sur-Erdre on 2 June

6. ALPENGEIST – Last-start winner of a 1600m handicap at Compiègne on 24 May. Ought to remain competitive under a 3kg penalty

7. URAL – Soundly beaten in back-to-back recent handicaps, the latest (14th) over 1600m at Nantes on 30 June. Others preferred

8. BLACK PANTHER – Returned to form with an encouraging 4th over 1800m at Nort-sur-Erdre on 2 June and need only confirm that form/improvement to stake a claim

9. MOASA – Unplaced in all 4 appearances this year, the latest (8th) in a 1600m handicap at Compiegne on 24 May. Others preferred

10. SPEED CHOP – Out of sorts and unlikely to trouble the judge after finishing 5th in a minor conditions race over 1600m at Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne on 10 June

11. DOS DE MAYO – Seldom far off the mark but has proven hard to win with (just 1 victory from 30 starts). Back in a handicap after finishing 5th over 1350m in a conditions race at Wissembourg on 8 June

12. MANA SIS – Capitalised on a drop in the weights/ratings to finish 4th in a 1500m handicap at Tarbes on 5 June. Chance if confirming

13. ASPHODELE MIA – Hard-knocking handicapper with sound references in handicaps, including a respectable last-start 6th over 1800m at Compiegne on 7 June. Dark horse

14. GARDOL MOON – Inconsistent mare but isn’t incapable of getting into the picture if bouncing back to the form of her 4th in an 1800m handicap at Le Croise-Laroche on 4 April

15. AL RASSOUL – Unreliable veteran with references in handicaps off a higher rating – seldom far off the mark. Reverts to this category after finishing a well-beaten 9th in a 1600m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 17 May

16. ENJOY THE SILENCE – Has won on turf and is good in form/physical condition, which he confirmed with a creditable 6th in a PSF handicap at Chantilly over 1900m on 11 May. Not taken lightly

17. MEARAS STYLE – Close-up in her last 3 starts, all in handicaps – the latest (3rd) over 1600m at Compiegne on 24 May. Will be a factor

18. GOFAST – Soundly beaten (16th) in a handicap over 1800m at Compiegne on 7 June. Hard to make a case for

Summary: Veteran ALPENGEIST (6) rediscovered his form and consistency dropped in the weights/ratings and wasn’t winning out of turn last time at Compiegne. On the evidence of that victory, a 3kg penalty may not be enough to prevent him from winning again. He will, however, have to thwart the likely challenge of consistent veteran mare MEARAS STYLE (17) who should pose a threat in receipt of 3,5kg. Top-weight LOUVE PRECIEUSE (1) is reunited with Maxime Guyon, under whom she has won, and ought to make her presence felt too. MANA SIS (12) and BLACK PANTHER (8) appeal most of the remainder.

LITOTE DU LANNIER (7) can be a threat and will make her rivals work hard for success. DEMON DU BERLAIS (2) has still to get off the mark and could be a good option each way. Summary: RAGNAR CITY (12) caught the eye when fifth at Angers on his debut and will be sharper for that outing and looks like the most likely winner. SPEED FOR FUN (3) has shown talent in both of his runs and was a good third at Compiegne 20 days ago. He can make the selection work hard. C1 – PRIX DE MARTAINVILLE – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 24,000

1. LEANE DU PARC – Produced her career-best performance when 3rd of 10 finishers, at 97/1, in a 2050m Cabourg Class E  earlier this month but confirmation will have to wait

2. LUCIA DI JENILAT – 4th of 10 finishers, a place behind LOVELY DU VALLON (3), in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class F on 16 May but a repeat seems most improbable

3. LOVELY DU VALLON – In the frame in first 2, including over 2200m on debut here, before faulting in a 2275m Nantes Class E earlier this month but can play a leading role if she stays focused

4. LIZA D’HERIPRE – Showed little in last year’s qualification but made no bones about winning a 2725m Lisieux Class F on debut late last month and although unlikely to repeat can still finish in first 3

5. L’ETOILE DE ROCHE – Has started to come good over recent months, latterly 3rd of 8 finishers in a 2900m Bourigny Class G earlier in the month and in this company, will have little to offer

6. LOU D’ECROVILLE – Not totally devoid of talent but drops back in class after coming last but one in a 2925m Cagnes Class A in early-March. Is sure to need the run though and best to wait

7. LEGENDE DU BOULAY – Last of 7 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D mid-May. Has other priorities and can be passed over

8. LUNE D’OPALE – Enjoying a renaissance since starting to race with pads. Surprise 3rd of 13 in a 2550m Reims Class E a month ago but faces a tall order on this occasion

9. LADY MORNING STAR – Has shown decent aptitude so far, latterly winning a 2200m Vitré Class G on 2 June. Has references on a hard surface but, in this company, is not an obvious choice

10. LA BELLE MIKA – Never at her ease when last of 10 in a 2050m Cabourg Class E on 1 June. Should appreciate Caen conditions but must first re-establish her credentials

11. LINA DU RIB – Got off the mark at Laval in good order mid-May, winning a 2850m Class F. Will have come on for the run and is not incapable of confirming

12. LUMIERE DAIRPET – Tricky character that got off the mark in a 2675m Erbray Class G 11 days ago. Takes on better this time but the nature of her success augurs well for her chances of making first 5

13. LOOKING FRANCE – Pleasant winner of a 2550m Class G at Gournay-en-Bray a month back. Unlikely to repeat but should still give an honourable account

14. LUNE DU DOUET – Has not been seen out since tenaciously winning a 2725m Lisieux Class F 3 months ago. Fitted with 4 pads again though, has been entrusted to David Thomain, and will be afforded every chance

15. LUNA DE MALAC – Winner of a 2650m Alençon Class F on 2 June. Tends to show more on turf but cannot be discounted

16. LOLLIPOP STAR – Won at Ecommoy before running 2nd of 7 finishers in a 2400m Class E at Nort-sur-Erdre 12 days ago. Looks good enough to compete at this level and can even have her day in the sun

Summary: After a brace of sanctions to kick off her career, LOLLIPOP STAR (16) has since shown a very different side and even though stepping up in category, she nevertheless looks the one to beat. LINA DU RIB (11) has done nothing but improve since her April debut and looks the main threat, however LOVELY DU VALLON (3) has shown considerable promise and will be no pushover if Franck Nivard keeps her trotting. Yoann Lebourgeois drove LIZA D’HERIPRE (4) to victory first time out and legitimately bids to do so again.

1. KENDJI DE BEAULIEU – Sanctioned in both starts to date, latterly a 3200m Fougères harness Class F 11 days ago, and makes his monté debut with little fanfare

2. KOPS GEDE – Sanctioned in 10 of 12, most recently a 2850m Laval Class E, and has no possible chance

3. KENAVO CHANTEREINE – 2nd of 14 in a 2400m Amiens Class F a week ago but, in this company, will need to be at his best

4. KRACK CLEA – Takes first public steps in the discipline after trotting 5th of 15 in a harness Class F over 2200m here 10 days ago and looks the sort that could pleasantly surprise

5. KANOIS DE LATOUR – Impressive in 3 starts in April before coming last of 7 finishers behind KALIN DU TRESOR (8) in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month and will need to find more this time around

6. KABOTIN CHENEVIERE – Good 2nd in a Class F over course and distance late-April, first time under the saddle, latterly 6th of 13 in a similar event under harness 3 weeks ago, and with form maintained, will be no easy touch

7. KARMA JIEL – Showed improvement when 3rd of 6 finishers in a 2325m Toulouse Class E 3 weeks ago. Pleased on lone appearance here but others still easier to back

8. KALIN DU TRESOR – Won 2 on the trot, including under these conditions, before being headed on re-entry in a 2875m Argentan Class E late last month, and is going to take all the beating

9. KASHKAI – 6th of 15 in a 2150m Vichy harness Class E on 27 May. Alexis Collette onboard for monté debut and will be worth monitoring

10. KING DEL PHEDO – Races barefoot for first time after coming 3rd of 17 in a 2850m Class E at Maure-de-Bretagne on 4 June. Anthony Barrier in the saddle this time and must not be overlooked

11. KALOGERO SI – Disappointing 7th of 9 in a 2325m Toulouse Class E 3 weeks ago and is not about to spring any surprises

12. KSAR LUDOIS – Simply superb lately, most recently missing out by little in a 2950m Vichy Class E on 1 June. Should appreciate Caen profile and looks a possible spoiler

13. KARALY – Has never been in better form than he is now, last week winning an incident-filled 2825m Vire Class F, and looks competitive enough to finish in the mix once more

14. KLEMPERER – Sanctioned in a similar event here early last month. One of the more modest elements in the field and can be ruled out

Summary: KALIN DU TRESOR (8) has proved something of a revelation since switching codes and, excellent on his recent return to competition, can make this his own. Leading the opposition are KABOTIN CHENEVIERE (6) who caught the eye on his monté debut here 2 months ago, and KRACK CLEA (4) who debuts in the code after coming 5th under harness here recently and is very easy to like. KSAR LUDOIS (12) has enjoyed a change in fortune since starting to race barefoot and makes his Caen debut with a good hand to play.

2. KING BOLD – 8th of 11 finishers on comeback in a 2050m Cabourg Class F on 1 June. Well-drawn and hind shoes off, but  appears to need the race

3. KOUREION D’ELA – Solid as a rock this season, latterly winning a 2725m Lisieux Class F on 26 May. Breaks from the 3-spot and looks a leading contender

4. KARABOUDJAN – Versatile type that came in 3rd of 14 in a 2400m Amiens Class F a week ago and, perfectly-positioned in front, can make first 5

5. KING TURGOT – Raced better than his 7th of 12 finishers in a 2850m Laval Class E last week would suggest. Is plainly in fine form and racing barefoot can make all the difference

6. KANTOUTSTART – Made up for his early-May performance when 2nd of 10 in a 2875m Argentan Class E on 26 May. David Thomain stays faithful and is not incapable of getting that maiden monkey off his back

7. KARMA KILY – Returns to the harness code after coming 6th of 8 in a 2850m Laval monté Class E a weeks ago. Trainer in the wagon this time but others still preferred

8. KOLMI DES EPINES – Below-par in last 3 outings, most recently last of 12 in a 2700m Vire Class E 8 days ago, and is not about to influence the outcome

9. KANTARO DU TRESOR – Was on a fruitful run of form before coming last of 11 in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E a fortnight ago. Should not be too hastily judged though and is thoroughly capable of making amends

10. KEROZEN DU VIVIER – 2nd of 12 in a 2550m Gournay-en-Bray Class F a month ago. Fitted with 4 pads for the first time and steps up in class with a respectable chance of picking up a minor-place cheque

11. KINDER DANOVER – Last of 10 in a 2400m Amiens Class F last week. Shoes on again and best to keep one’s powder dry

12. KIPROTICH SPORT – Failed to confirm his Cherbourg success when sanctioned in a 3125m Questembert Class F later last month and, at this level, will have his work cut out

13. KOVE DU CHENE – Sanctioned early in a 2825m Vire monté Class F when preparing for this 8 days ago. Races first time barefoot but already looks out of his depth

14. KHALIFE DU CHENE – Produced a decent effort to come 3rd of 14 in a 2400m Amiens Class F on 8 June. Pitted against better this time and the draw only compounds matters

Summary: Very much an open affair this, although it is hard to ignore the progressive, and well-positioned KOUREION D’ELA (3) who opened his account late last month. Teddy Calo will still be keeping a keen eye on the delicate KENTUCKY SCARLET (1) who has won 2 of the 3 races he has finished, and KANTOUTSTART (6) who was not far off losing his maiden status at Argentan late-May. In the frame in 2 of his last 3, KING TURGOT (5) races barefoot for the first time at Caen and has a claim on a place in the first 3.

C4 – PRIX DE BAZENVILLE – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class E Amateur Riders Race – Mounted – EUR € 21,000

1. JAGUAR SEPTHEMA – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2500m Class E at Savigny-sur-Braye 11 days ago and, with shoes back on, can be discounted

2. JINGLE PACA – 7th of 12 finishers in a similar event here on Monday. Races barefoot this time but backs up with limited chances

3. JEWEL SMILE – Takes to the monté code for the first time after trotting 6th of 9 finishers in a 2800m Vichy harness Class E a month back and is unlikely to spring any surprises

4. JETHAN DE MONGOCHY – Disappointing on monté debut but reassured under harness when 2nd of 12 in a 2900m Arras Class F on 9 June. Sports a new configuration and can get in on the action if form transitions.

5. JACKSON KILY – Sanctioned, when freshening up, in a 2800m Rambouillet harness Class E earlier this month. Has decent monté references though and debuts at Caen with a realistic chance of securing a place in the frame

6. J’ADORE CELESTE – Sanctioned in a 2800m Rambouillet harness Class E on 9 June. Can hold his own under the saddle but at this level, and with shoes on, will have too much to do

7. JUSTY DU OLPASI – 6th of 8 finishers, while still being conditioned, in a 3125m Rânes harness Class F on 9 June. Has previously won under these conditions however and must not be underestimated

8. JOKER DES ISLES – Has been in flying form since returning to competition. 4th of 10 finishers in a 2700m Erbray Class F 11 days ago and makes his Caen debut with every chance of featuring in the reckoning

9. JURITI – Disqualified from 2nd, after having lost ground at the start, in a 2725m Graignes Class harness Class F 3 weeks ago. Pleased under the saddle here late-April and, in present form, will be no soft touch

10. JAIL BREAK – Previously a good sort but makes first appearance since coming last but one in a 2450m Caen Class E last September and will need the outing

11. JULIUS DU THEIL – Sanctioned in last two, laterally a 2900m Bourigny Class E on 2 June. Enjoys a good entry here though and reverting to a proven formula will be just the ticket, provided of course that Benjamin Chauve-Laffay keeps him trotting

12. JUTLAND DE TILLARD – Encouraging 5th of 11 finishers in a 2600m Class F at La Roche-Posay earlier in the month but is unlikely to shake things up

Summary: Occasionally a temperamental character, JULIUS DU THEIL (11) nevertheless ran close under these conditions three months ago and, padded-all-4 as he was that day, can win this. JURITI (9) finished 2nd under harness at Graignes late-May before being disqualified in the stewards’ room and, with application, can give the favourite a run for his money. Never easy to knock when unshod, JOKER DES ISLES (8) has been knocking at the door recently and the Caen profile will only work to his strengths. JACKSON KILY (5) reverts to racing with front pads after his provincial conditioner and is not going to be far off the mark.

C5 – PRIX DE FEUGUEROLLES – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class E Amateur Riders Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. JOYCE D’AVEZE – Unexceptional mare that finished 6th behind JILIKA DU MESLE (6) in a 2100m Vincennes Class E on 8 June. Given a tough inside draw and is unlikely to shake things up

2. JUDY TURGOT – Last but one in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E on 18 May. Has been out of sorts since last year and can be passed over

3. JEANNE D’AUTHISE – Moderate 5th of 7 finishers in a 2400m Class E at Beaumont-de-Lomagne 11 days ago. Has a plum spot behind the car but nonetheless faces a stiff test

4. JENKA DE MORMOULIN – Has hardly stepped a foot out of place this term, most recently 3rd of 14 in a 2400m Amiens Class E last week, and the draw will do her place prospects no disservice

5. JACANA DE BLARY – Sanctioned in 2 before trouncing the opposition in a 2725m Graignes Class F 3 weeks ago. Has solid right-handed references and from the 5-spot is unlikely to disappoint

6. JILIKA DU MESLE – In the frame in 3 of last 4, latterly a somewhat unlucky 3rd of 13 in a 2100m Vincennes Class E 12 days ago, but can play a leading role if William Forniglia manages to keep her out of trouble

7. JUDIRA DE HOUELLE – In the frame in 4 before coming 7th of 11 finishers, behind JOYCE D’AVEZE (1), in a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine 3 weeks ago. Undeniably capable but would have better prospects a level down

8. JIVA – Took little time getting back in shape following a long layoff, winning a 2825m Vire Class F on 25 May and, racing unshod-all-4 this time, will take some beating

9. JUSTE PARFAITE – Sanctioned early in a 2400m Amiens Class E a week ago, but has otherwise been in decent shape. Encouraged here a month ago and with application, can defy the draw, and get in on the action

10. JOY ERCA – Has not been seen out since trotting 4th of 11 in a 2575m Saint-Brieuc Class G in early-March. Races first time barefoot for comeback but still has too much to do

11. JOFESCA BUISSONAY – Has merit but off the boil this year, most recently sanctioned in a 2600m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine mid-May, and needs to get her house in order

12. JAMAICA DE LOU – Last but one, behind JOYCE D’AVEZE (1), in a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine 3 weeks ago when still being conditioned. Has yet to convince though and may need the run

13. JAKA DU RUEL – No star but encouraged when 6th of 14, behind JENKA DE MORMOULIN (4), in a 2400m Amiens Class E a week ago. On 2nd line but will still generate some interest

14. JADE FOR EVER – Has won 3 from 4 when barefoot, latterly a 2675m Lisieux Class F on 13 May. Comes here fresh but has been handed a tough draw and looks more a minor place prospect this time around

15. JUSTISSIME – Made it 3 straight sanctions when faulting in a Class F over course and distance a month ago. Races barefoot this time but others still preferred

16. JACINTHE DE DAIDOU – In decent shape all season, most recently 5th of 10 in a 2600m Morlaix Class F on 12 May. Poorly-drawn though and, in this category, is unlikely to feature

Summary: JIVA (8) may have been handed a wide draw on the front line but she is a tough individual that has yet to be bested racing clockwise and, barefoot for the occasion, can wrap this up. That said, the complicated JILIKA DU MESLE (6) reassured in Paris earlier in the month and, reverting to a previous configuration, looks the main threat. JENKA DE MORMOULIN (4) left a good impression at Amiens a week ago and is ideally-placed to make a big splash. JACANA DE BLARY (5) has never shown much of a liking for Caen but she was back in the winners’ enclosure at Graignes late last month and, sporting a modified formula, must be afforded respect.

1. JABLO DU CHENE – Complemented his recent runs with close 2nd of 18 in a 2725m Lisieux Class E 2 weeks ago. Is confirmed at Caen and will be competitive for a place on the podium

2. JAGUAR D’OBRET – Has 2 races under his belt, latterly 4th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien harness Class D on 25 May. is clearly in form but makes his monté debut in superior company and is unlikely to influence the result

3. JUDY BLUE EYES – Last of 9 behind JAVA WIC (8) in 28 May race of reference. Disappointing on the whole for some time and can be ruled out

4. JOCIE DU VILLARD – Won a 2700m Graignes Class D early last month, on just her 2nd start under the saddle. Lilian Bertin in the irons again and although not a priority this time should nevertheless acquit herself competitively

5. JOKER DU HAMEL – Sanctioned when freshening up in a 3125m Angers harness Class D last week but in the frame in last 2 under the saddle and, shod to preference, must not be ignored

6. JOKER DE FROULAY – In the frame in 2, including over course and distance, before trotting 6th of 10, behind JAVA WIC (8), in a 2175m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Drops marginally in category and will be expected to finish closer

7. JACKPOT DU CHOQUEL – Last but one in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on re-entry mid-May. Takes on a good bunch here and chances limited

8. JAVA WIC – Returned to competition in fine form, most recently close 2nd of 10 in a 2175m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago, and will be expected to apply the pressure on her fancied stablemate

9. JAMBIER D’OURVILLE – Unbeaten in 2 under the saddle, latterly romping home in a 2700m Graignes Class D early last month. Yet to be bested with Benjamin Chauve-Laffay onboard and will be expected to maintain his perfect monté status

Summary: Rejuvenated since moving to the ridden code, JAMBIER D’OURVILLE (9) enjoys an entry-made-in-heaven and, terrific racing clockwise, should be in a position to win this, although he will encounter considerable opposition from the excellent JAVA WIC (8) who has won 5 from 8 starts in the monté discipline, and JABLO DU CHENE (1) who has been knocking at the door since his victorious re-entry. JOKER DE FROULAY (6) simply thrives at Caen and returns to the venue with a realistic chance of making the frame.

1. IDEAL DE SASSY – 5th of 16 in a 2825m Chartres Class E on 2 June. Seldom gets his nose in front but always gives his best and has the wherewithal to win a race of this nature

2. IGGY DES RIOULTS – Made up for 2 straight sanctions with easy success in a 2450m Class E here 10 days ago and is sufficiently well-placed to give this another good go. Chance

3. IALKO JENILAT – Beat INEDIT DU PAVILLON (5) here earlier in the season, latterly 4th, a place behind IRON MAN (4) in a 3000m Nantes Class E earlier in the month. Handed a decent place behind the car and with hind shoes off will garner support

4. IRON MAN – Back in business after a string of sanctions, latterly 3rd of 10 in a 3000m Nantes Class E on 3 June and on good behaviour can pick up a cheque

5. INEDIT DU PAVILLON – Has gone from strength to strength lately, most recently 2nd of 14 in a 2725m Graignes Class E on 24 May. David Thomain at the helm this time and from the 5-spot will have his chances

6. ICI C’EST CHENU – Would have fought out the finish in a 2450m Class E here 10 days ago had he not faulted in the latter stages. Modified shoeing this time though and is not incapable of springing a surprise

7. IBRAHIM DU RIB – Runner-up at La Capelle before repeating in a 2600m Nancy Class F on 31 May. In the frame in both previous starts here and looks a respectable place prospect

8. IAGO CAYENNAIS – Last but one behind IGGY DES RIOULTS (2), on re-entry, in a Class E over 2450m here on 10 June. Races barefoot this time and despite the wide draw can still make his presence felt

9. ILLICO PRESTO FAC – 2nd of 15 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F late last month. Is confirmed in this category and returns to a hard surface with a decent hand to play

10. IPSOS DANOVER – Unexceptional 6th of 13 in a 2400m Amiens Class E, from a good draw, a week ago. On back line this time and can be ruled out

11. I LOVE JAM – Came a flattering 5th of 7 finishers in 10 June race of reference and a repeat seems highly unlikely

12. I AM MAJYC – Last of 11 in a 2675m Class G at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 10 May. Here for a change of scenery and can be passed over

13. INDIRISS – Pleasant in a couple of minor events before trotting 7th of 18 in a 2825m Class D at Sablé-sur-Sarthe 11 days ago. On the back line and will need to bring his A-game

Summary: Solid racing clockwise, and confirmed at the venue, IDEAL DE SASSY (1) may not have won since last August but he is plainly in fine shape and, unshod behind with François Lecanu reining, looks a serious proposition. That said, the complicated but talented IGGY DES RIOULTS (2) won smartly here earlier in the month and, with application, can double his money. Runner-up in his last two, IBRAHIM DU RIB (7) starts wide and with Franck Nivard reining, will be afforded every chance. As happy going righthanded as left-, INEDIT DU PAVILLON (5) is well-placed behind the car, is in flying form, and can challenge for a place in the frame.

C8 – PRIX D’HOULGATE – 2450m (a1m1/2) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000

1. HAZOE DES GLENAN – Solid in 2 before faulting in a 2675m Erbray Class F 11 days ago. In the frame in all 3 Caen starts and, sporting a revised configuration, is not to be written off

2. HIROISE DU PARJAT – 7th of 12 in a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys last weekend. Has not made the frame since last autumn and will have few friends

3. HUITRE D’OR – Makes first appearance since being sanctioned in a 2900m Challans Class E early-February. Shoes on and no chance

4. HEROINE DE GUERRE – In the frame in last 2, most recently 2nd of 13 in a 2550m Reims Class E a month ago and, with form maintained, will be dangerous

5. HALOWIE RENARDIER – Faces first objective of the season after coming last in a 2850m Laval Class C a week ago. Barefoot for the occasion but has never delivered right-handed and is not about to start

6. GIRL DE L’ETOILE – Encouraging 5th of 16 in a 3200m Fougères Class F on 9 June. Front pads fitted, as when placing here last season, but will struggle to make her mark

7. HEMERA TURGOT – Showed improvement when 6th of 16 in a 2625m Cherbourg Class E on Sunday. Is proven at Caen but others still easier to back

8. HIGH MONEY D’AVRAN – Going well before faulting in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E 2 weeks ago. Races barefoot for first time since February and, if focused, can finish in the mix

9. HANIKA DU LUPIN – Sanctioned in a 2850m Laval Class C a week ago. Has evident ability and can play a leading role if Mathieu Mottier keeps her trotting

10. GIGI DES NEUF CLOS – Solid winner of a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E a fortnight ago. Has never disappointed here, Yoann Lebourgeois reins this time, and can double her money

11. GEORGIA DU PONT – Last of 11 in a 3125m Rânes Class F, on re-entry, 11 days ago. Is still in conditioning-mode and best to wait

12. HERMINE DE RHEVE – Seldom gets her nose in front but gave a fine account of herself when 3rd of 12 in a 2550m Reims Class D on 2 June, and makes her Caen debut with justified ambition

13. FILLE DE L’OUEST – Lost her action in a 2675m Erbray Class F on 9 June. Totally out of the picture this year and needs to reaffirm

14. GALANTE DE TILLARD – In the thick of things for the most part this season, latterly 3rd of 13 in a 2550m Reims Class F on 2 June. Is reunited with Franck Nivard and is not going to be far off the mark

15. FELINE DE JANVILLE – Unplaced in last 2 here, most recently 11th of 16 in a similar event 10 days ago. Is better than the result would suggest and, barefoot for the occasion, can pick up some prizemoney

16. HEROINE DES LANDES – 7th of 15 in a 3000m Nantes Class F a fortnight ago. Defied her odds that day but is not about to repeat

Summary: Very hard to knock when barefoot and focused, GIGI DES NEUF CLOS (10) was back in the winners’ circle at Pontchâteau recently and, confirmed at Caen, may well prove the horse to beat. She will nevertheless encounter resistance from HANIKA DU LUPIN (9) who is significantly better than latest results would imply, and HERMINE DE RHEVE (12) who put on a good show at Reims earlier in the month. HEROINE DE GUERRE (4) beat the favourite at Reims last month and is not one to be underestimated.
