French Selections Sunday 23rd

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX OUEST-FRANCE (PRIX RAYMOND FOUARD) – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 80,000

1. KNOCKONWOOD – Disappointing on the whole for some time, latterly last of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class A last weekend, and can be confidently passed over

2. KANTO AVIS – Handy sort that trotted 4th of 11 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class A last weekend and over this shorter trip could pleasantly surprise

3. KAVIARISSIME – Not short of talent but could manage just 6th behind KANTO AVIS (2) in 2700m Gr.3 Prix Vaucluse early-May. Has freshness on his side but other more attractive options available

4. KEEP GOING – Useful sort that did not enjoy the best of luck in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jules Thibault 2 weeks ago. Gets another crack at it and Mathieu Mottier will be considerably more vigilant this time. Place chance

5. KAPITANO DE SOURCE – Races barefoot for the first time after finishing 9th of 14 behind KRACK TIME ATOUT (8) in Gr.2 Jules Thibault 2 weeks ago. Barefoot for the first time but still not a priority

6. KRISTAL JOSSELYN – Blows hot and cold but came in a reassuring 6th to KRACK TIME ATOUT (8) in race of reference and can finish closer this time

7. KSAR – Never far from faulting but seldom disappoints when focused and his recent 4th place in 8 June race of reference bodes well for his chances against the 6 other runners

8. KRACK TIME ATOUT – Exceptional colt with a Gr.1 already to his name. Flew up in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jules Thibault a fortnight ago and will be expected to repeat

Summary: All the focus will be on KRACK TIME ATOUT (8) here, and for good reason. Simply superb in his last 3 starts, if he performs as he did here earlier in the month, this will be his for the asking. Main opposition takes the form of KSAR (7) who finished 4th to him that day, and KEEP GOING (4) who should not be too hastily judged for his recent disappointment.

SELECTIONS
KRACK TIME ATOUT (8) – KSAR (7) – KEEP GOING (4) – KRISTAL JOSSELYN (6)
C2 – PRIX PARISTURF (PRIX DE NESLES) – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 68,000

1. DOMINO D’AUVRECY – Lacklustre in last 2, most recently last of 11 in a 2700m Class C here mid-month, and will generate very little interest

2. GIVE ME – 9th of 13 finishers in a 2875m Enghien monté Class C 8 days ago. Has never disappointed under these conditions and must be considered a leading contender

3. GALAGO DU CADRAN – Close 4th of 16 in a 2700m Class C here a month ago. Seldom seen over this shorter trip but has a lot going for him and can bring home the spoils

4. ESPOIR DES CHAMPS – Distant 11th of 14 in a 2850m Class B here a fortnight ago. Is well-placed in front, goes barefoot for the occasion, but others still preferred

5. GILMOUR – Drops in category after coming last but one in a 2825m GNT Gr.3 at Le Croisé-Laroche a month ago. Seldom disappoints under these conditions and, back to racing barefoot, should logically finish in the mix

6. FRANKLIN PARK – Pulled-up in a 3000m Eauze Class A late-May. Better in the claiming division and can be ruled out

7. GOODMAN TURGOT – Shod to preference this time after trotting 5th of 13 in a 2850m Hyères Class A late last month. Starts relatively wide and a repeat seems improbable

8. GYBOR WELL – Decent 4th of 15 in a 2950m Vichy Class D on 13 May. Forced to start wide but can make a big splash if Matthieu Abrivard successfully navigates the start

9. GIMS DU PLESSIS – Has not been seen out since winning a 2850m Vincennes Class D late-April. Excels with Eric Raffin, who won with him over course and distance precisely a year ago, and the draw may become irrelevant. Attention

10. GOLIATH DU CAUX – Sanctioned when well-supported in a 2850m Vincennes claimer on 28 May and in this company will struggle to make any impact

11. GREZ – Returns to the harness code after coming 2nd of 14 in a 2975m Jallais Class E a week ago. On 2nd line, and steps up in category, but is an honest trotter who will acquit himself competitively

12. FOREVER JIEL – Reassured at Strasbourg before finishing 7th behind GALAGO DU CADRAN (3) in a 2700m Class C here a month ago. On 2nd line here and others easier to back

13. FEELING BOY – Failed to confirm his good Laval performance when 9th of 14 in a 2850m Class D here on 10 May. Has previously won over track and trip but, on this occasion, appears to have nothing to offer

14. GINO VIVA – 5th of 13 finishers in a 2850m Class D here earlier in the month. Gets a JMB drive this time, won under these conditions earlier in the year, and will not be far off the mark if his driver positions him early

15. FILARETE DU VERGER – 9th of 15 when preparing for this in a 2700m Class C here late last month. Excels over these shorter trips and looks a solid place prospect

16. GRANDE PRETRESSE – Unremarkable 7th of 16 in a 2150m Enghien Class C on 20 April. Is barefoot for comeback but has little going for her here

Summary: Already twice a winner this year and most recently impressive over 2700m here, GALAGO DU CADRAN (3) is ideally-positioned behind the car and, with Benjamin Rochard maintaining faith, he has a top-tier chance. GIVE ME (2) has 3 races under his belt, has been entrusted to Yoann Lebourgeois, and given his Vincennes record, looks the main danger. Faithful servant for the most part when barefoot, FILARETE DU VERGER (15) has been handed a tough draw but, after 2 return runs, can nevertheless get straight back in the game. The well-placed GILMOUR (5) boasts the fastest time over the distance and takes a dip in class with a realistic chance of picking up a place cheque.

SELECTIONS
GALAGO DU CADRAN (3) – GIVE ME (2) – FILARETE DU VERGER (15) – GILMOUR (5)
C3 – PRIX D’ESSAI – ETRIER 3 ANS FINALE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr1 Race – Mounted – EUR € 200,000

1. LOMAC GEDE – Debuts under the saddle after winning a 2275m Nantes harness Class E 3 weeks ago, but is clearly taking on too much

2. LADY QUEEN – Takes first competitive monté steps after coming last but one in a 2175m harness Class B here on 4 June, and is unlikely to generate much interest

3. LUZ FATALE – Takes a huge jump in class after trotting 5th to LOVISSIME (7) in a 2175m Class A here late last month and will not be influencing the result

4. LUMINOUS STAR – 4th of 8 finishers in a 2700m harness Gr.3 here on 7 June. Leading jockey onboard for monté debut and appears thoroughly capable of winning a race of this nature

5. LE JIBAY – 3rd to LOVISSIME (7) in a 2700m Gr.3 here, on monté debut, 12 days ago. Will have come on for the run, and has 4 pads fitted, but still faces a stiff test

6. LE VOYOU D’ALMO – Last but one in a 2175m harness Gr.2 here late last month. 2nd to LUTIN DES BORDES (10) in Prix Gai Brillant last time under the saddle and, with Benjamin Rochard in the irons, will be no pushover

7. LOVISSIME – Classy future prospect that completed the hat-trick in a Gr.3 over course and distance 12 days ago. Held in high-regard at home and is not incapable of getting her nose in front

8. LEXIE DE BANVILLE – 8th of 9 finishers when preparing for this in a 2175m harness Gr.2 on 28 May. Front pads fitted for return to the monté code but represents no more than a minor place chance

9. LYZIA DES AGETS – Pipped LITTLE ORELIE (13) to win Gr.2 Prix Hemine in April before finishing 5th to her in 2450m Gr.2 Prix Pierre Gamare on 11 May. Returns to racing left-handed though and looks a solid place prospect

10. LUTIN DES BORDES – Winner of Gr.2 Prix Prix Gai Brillant mid-April before trotting 2nd to LITTLE ORELIE (13) at Caen. Comes here fresh, sporting 4 pads, and looks a player

11. LUCKY SIBEY – Gr.2 winner earlier in the year but sent for a spell after coming 4th to LUTIN DES BORDES (10) in Prix Gai Brillant. Will have been kept going in the meantime though and can get in on the action

12. LET ME SHINE GIO – Sanctioned in a 2175m harness Gr.2 late last month. Is not without merit, and sports hind pads for the occasion but, in this company, is not about to spring a surprise

13. LITTLE ORELIE – Left a very good impression when victorious in a 2450m Caen Gr.2 on 11 June and, in similar shape, can bring home the largest slice of the pie

Summary: An absolute revelation since embarking on her new career, LITTLE ORELIE (13) will be  leading the charge of the fillies in this competitive affair, provided she is still on the boil. Main threat to Mathieu Mottier’s mount is the William Bigeon-trained LUMINOUS STAR (4) who receives an Alexandre Abrivard ride on her shod monté debut, and LYZIA DES AGETS (9) who beat the favourite in the Gr.2 Prix Hemine mid-April. Fitted with pads all around, LOVISSIME (7) steps up in class after securing the hat-trick over course and distance and, considering Philippe Allaire’s record in this race, she must not be underestimated.

SELECTIONS
LITTLE ORELIE (13) – LUMINOUS STAR (4) – LYZIA DES AGETS (9) – LOVISSIME (7)
C4 – PRIX RMC (PRIX DE GRASSE) – 2850m (a2m) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 90,000

1. JET EXPRESS – Trotted an honourable 7th of 14 in a 2175m Gr.2 here a fortnight ago. Has won 3 of 4 over course and distance and looks a player this time

2. DONIZETTI (SWE) – Disappointing this term, most recently 13th of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class A on 25 May, and can be passed over

3. HNOKKI SPEED – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently in Gr.3 Prix Perreux race of reference. Showed his form that day though and merits respect

4. CHERRY TOP – 4th of 16 in a 2150m Enghien Class A late-May. Takes a step up in class but should nonetheless acquit himself honourably. Minor place chance

5. JUST A MIDI – Gave an excellent account on return to competition 2 weeks ago when 4th of 14 in 2175m Prix Jean le Gonidec here. Produced his career-best chrono that day, is barefoot this time, and is not to be underestimated

6. DOWHATYOUDODOWELL – Disappointing 10th of 15 in a 2100m Class D here on 3 May. Unseen since and already looks out of his depth

7. JAGUAR GRIFF – 5th in Gr.3 Prix du Perreux but could manage only 9th behind CHERRY TOP (4) in a 2150m Enghien Class A on 25 May and can expect to have few takers

8. IPALIO – Fine 3rd, behind JANGO VICI (9), in race of reference but less performant since. Shoes off this time but still not an obvious choice

9. JANGO VICI – Had been on a fine run of form before faulting, when full of running, in Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec over 2175m here on 8 June. Can still win this though if Benjamin Rochard keeps him trotting

10. JIOSCO DE PHYT’S – 5th, a place behind JUST A MIDI (5), in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec here 2 weeks ago. Will be better suited to the day’s distance and can wrap this up

11. INSHOT JOSSELYN – Has not been seen out since coming 3rd of 11 in a 2325m Toulouse Class B early-April. Reverts to a previous configuration but others still preferred

12. IRON MESLOIS – In the frame in 5 before flopping last of 8 in race of reference and will need to get his house in order

13. IBERIK DE MONGOCHY – 7th of 12 in a monté Class C over course and distance late last month. Has other priorities though

14. CHARMY CHARLY AS – Sanctioned, at 4.9/1, in a 2700m Gr.3 Prix du Perreux here mid-May. Has had time to recuperate and Paul Ploquin will be eager to set the record straight

15. ILLUSION JIPAD – Good, consistent mare when barefoot. Finished 6th of 10 when preparing shod for this over 1640m at Solvalla on 25 May. Appreciates these conditions and although not a priority, is still worth monitoring

16. GERICAULT – 5th of 15 in a Gr.3 over course and distance a month ago. Should be fully fit by now though and is thoroughly capable of trotting his way onto the podium

Summary: Sanctioned when he had the Gr.2 Prix Robert Auvray won mid-April, JIOSCO DE PHYT’S (10) has since been showing his form and, with solid references over 2850m, looks eminently capable of winning this. JANGO VICI (9) met a similar fate in Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec a fortnight ago but, barefoot for the occasion, can put things right. GERICAULT (16) is clearly on the right road and even though stepping up in category, is still very easy to like. JET EXPRESS (1) was by no means disgraced in Prix Jean le Gonidec and, over this longer trip, looks competitive for a place in the frame.

SELECTIONS
JIOSCO DE PHYT’S (10) – JANGO VICI (9) – GERICAULT (16) – JET EXPRESS (1)
C5 – PRIX DE NORMANDIE – ETRIER 5 ANS FINALE – 3000m (a2m) – Gr1 Race – Mounted – EUR € 240,000

1. JASMINE DE NEUVY – Sanctioned, on re-entry, in the race of reference. Has twice failed to deliver at this level and, even racing barefoot, can be ruled out

2. JUBLA VIKING – Takes a big step up in class after faulting in a 2850m Class B here 12 days ago and will have nothing to contribute

3. JADE DE CASTELLE – Lost her action [at 79/1] in race of reference. Barefoot this time but is out of her league here

4. JACADI BROUETS – Sanctioned in a 2700m harness Class C here late last month and has not done enough recently to be considered a priority

5. JANE AIMEE – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently Prix Victor Cavey race of reference, and even with front shoes off this time, can be ruled out

6. JADE D’AMOUR – Good 2nd of 12 in a 2850m Class B here on 11 June. Has never been tried at this level but is plainly in shape and will be worth watching

7. JUS DE FRUIT – 4th in race of reference before repeating in a 2850m Class B here on 11 June. Adrien Lamy’s chance to win a 5th ‘Normandie’ but others still preferred

8. JEROBOAM D’ERABLE – Made it 2 straight Gr.2’s when flying up in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Victor Cavey here on 31 May and securing the double is well within his capacity

9. JASON – Made up for his Gr.2 Prix Albert Demarcq disappointment when 3rd in Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec under harness here a fortnight ago. Is new to the discipline but still looks competitively well-in

10. JOUMBA DE GUEZ – Fine servant that finished runner-up to JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Victor Cavey here late-May. Unshod-all-4 this time and Eric Raffin will expect to exact revenge

11. JEEGHA PRIDE – Won Gr.2 Prix Jean Gauvreau last month before coming a flattering 5th in race of reference. Can bounce back but more a minor place prospect at best this time

12. JASPER DES CHARMES – Sanctioned in a 2175m harness Gr.2 here a fortnight ago. Has won 4 of 5 monté starts, including a Gr.1, and has a realistic chance of winning this

13. JESSY DE BANVILLE – 6th of 7 finishers in race of reference. Won a Gr.1 at 3 but has not won since and, even with modified shoeing, others easier to back

14. JAKARTAS DES PRES – 4th in Gr.2 Prix Jean Gauvreau last month before finishing 9th of 11 in Gr.2 Prix Jean le Gonidec under harness here a fortnight ago. In current form is not easy to like

15. J’AIME LE FOOT – Honest trotter that seldom returns home empty-handed. Was preparing for this when 10th of 15 in a 2850m GNT Gr.3 at Laval on 5 June. Hind shoes off this time and is not incapable of making first 5

16. JEAN BALTHAZAR – 3rd to JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) in Prix Victor Cavey race of reference. Has never won beyond 2700m but is shod to preference for the occasion and is unlikely to disappoint

Summary: Although having raced just 3 times under the saddle, JOUMBA DE GUEZ (10) already has a Gr.1 to her name. She ran 2nd to the good JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) in Gr.2 Prix Victor Cavey but goes barefoot this time and can turn the tables. A veritable metronome, JEAN BALTHAZAR (16) finished 3rd that day and, with modified shoeing, will be expected to repeat. Simply superb in this branch of the business, JASPER DES CHARMES (12) races first time barefoot, has been entrusted to Alexandre Abrivard for the first time, and must also be considered a contender.

SELECTIONS
JOUMBA DE GUEZ (10) – JEROBOAM D’ERABLE (8) – JEAN BALTHAZAR (16) – JASPER DES CHARMES (12)
C6 – PRIX RENE BALLIERE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Gr1 Race – Harness – EUR € 200,000

1. VIVID WISE AS – Capable veteran that was sent for a break after faulting in a 1600m Turin Gr.1 early-April. Is barefoot for the occasion but has not been delivering this term and looks a minor place chance at best

2. ELVIS DU VALLON – Somewhat surprising 2nd of 9 in 2850m Gr.2 Prix Chambon P here 2 weeks ago but a repeat seems improbable

3. INMAROSA – Seldom gets her nose in front but has bags of ability. Unraced since trotting 4th to HORSY DREAM (7) in Gr.1 Prix de l’Atlantique at Enghien 2 months ago, but is barefoot for business and warrants respect

4. IDAO DE TILLARD – Unlucky 6th over 1609m in Elitlopp battery late last month. Has 2 races under his belt, excels over 2100m here, and winning this would be no surprise

5. HOKKAIDO JIEL – Left a reassuringly good impression when 3rd of 9 in 2850m Gr.2 Prix Chambon P a fortnight back. Unshod-all-4 this time and can challenge for a place in the frame

6. GAMAY DE L’ITON – Below-par in last 2, most recently 7th to GANAY DE BANVILLE (8) in Gr.3 Prix Jean Riaud over 2850m here. On front line but others still preferred

7. HORSY DREAM – Simply dynamic this term, latterly making short work of Elitlopp opposition in late-May. Races barefoot again and can make it 4 on the trot

8. GANAY DE BANVILLE – Beat ELVIS DU VALLON (2) when winning a Gr.3 over 2850m here a month back, but 6th in Prix Chambon P next time. Barefoot for the occasion though and should not be overlooked

9. IZOARD VEDAQUAIS – Won at Caen on re-entry before confirming in Gr.1 Harper Hanovers Lopp at Solvalla on 25 May. Is close to winning another Gr.1 and must be considered a respectable candidate

10. DIVA DEL RONCO – Sanctioned in a 3525m Vichy Class A 3 weeks ago but needs some form of intervention in order to make any impression

11. DESIDERIO D’ESI – Capable on a good day but sanctioned over 2700m in Milan late-April. Front shoes off this time but already looks an also-ran

12. HEDE DARLING – 2nd of 14 in a 2850m Class B here a fortnight ago but, at this level, has no realistic chance

Summary: It looks a very closely-run affair with 2 arch-enemies meeting again, HORSY DREAM (7) most recently winning Elitloppet, while the better-positioned IDAO DE TILLARD (4) has not got his nose in front since winning the Prix de Séléction last March, although he is markedly better over 2100m here. IZOARD VEDAQUAIS (9) is clearly back at the top of his game and, even though drawn wide, nonetheless looks set to continue his performant ways. Defending champion, and barefoot for the occasion, HOKKAIDO JIEL (5) reassured here 2 weeks ago and while unlikely to double up, he can still pick up a first-3 cheque.

SELECTIONS
HORSY DREAM (7) – IDAO DE TILLARD (4) – IZOARD VEDAQUAIS (9) – HOKKAIDO JIEL (5)
C7 – PX PRESIDENT REPUBLIQUE-ETRIER 4A FINALE – 2850m (a2m) – Gr1 Race – Mounted – EUR € 240,000

1. KINGSTON DE BLARY – Sanctioned on his return to the monté code in the race of reference and, even though sporting a new configuration, others still easier to back

2. KANEM – 3rd of 11 finishers in a 2700m Class D here 9 days ago and will quickly find himself treading water

3. KANTHABELLA – 3rd to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) at Caen before faulting (when unsupported) in Prix Lavater and can be ruled out

4. KEL AIR D’EOLE – Won 2 on the trot before coming 4th to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) in race of reference but, in this company, will have too much to do

5. KIRCIE DE GUEZ – Below-par this term, most recently last but one in a 2875m Enghien Class A mid-month, and is not about to influence the result

6. KARMA – Decent 5th to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Lavater  here on 31 May, on her first appearance in the code. Will have come on for the run and looks the main threat

7. KATINKA AIMEF – Sanctioned in a Gr.2 mid-April before coming 3rd of 9 in a 2700m Class C here on 17 May but, in this category, will struggle to make her mark

8. KID BELLAY – 7th of 11, when prepping for this, in a 2875m Enghien harness Class A on 15 June. Has evident ability but may be biting off more than he can chew

9. KALIF LANDIA – Preparing for this when 8th of 14 in a 2700m harness Gr.2 here a fortnight back, and returns to the ridden code shod to preference and with a claim on the trophy

10. KAPAULA DE L’EPINE – Has not been seen out since coming 2nd to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) in a 2450m Caen Gr.2 on 11 May. Can prove a handful but will not be far off the mark if Adrien Lamy keeps her trotting

11. KELLY DE BANVILLE – Returns to Vincennes on a hat-trick, most recently securing the Gr.2 Prix Lavater with ease and, while unlikely to pull it off, can still make first 5

12. KYT KAT – Winner of a Gr.2 on return to competition before trotting 2nd to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Lavater late last month. Races first time barefoot and looks to be in with a decent shout

13. KYRIELLE DES VAUX – Good, consistent filly that always gives her best, latterly 3rd to KELLY DE BANVILLE (11) in race of reference and, if still on the boil, can make her presence felt

14. KANA DE BEYLEV – Missed out by little on comeback 2 weeks ago in a 2700m Gr.2 here. Has previously won at the highest level and takes her first competitive monté steps with legitimate ambition

Summary: A host of good horses here but it is hard to overstate the aptitude KALIF LANDIA (9) has demonstrated for the monté game, and he returns to the code with every chance of complementing his Prix de Vincennes victory. Benjamin Rochard will be justifiably wary of a barefoot KARMA (6) whose recent monté debut caught the eye, and a similarly unshod KYT KAT (12) who bids to become the first horse since 2009-2010 to complete the Prix d’Essai – Prix du Président double. Runner-up to Idao De Tillard in the Gr.1 Prix de Séléction, and recently impressive on her re-entry, KANA DE BEYLEV (14) debuts under the saddle and with Alexandre Abrivard onboard, is most definitely in with a shout.

SELECTIONS
KALIF LANDIA (9) – KARMA (6) – KYT KAT (12) – KANA DE BEYLEV (14)
C8 – PRIX ALBERT VIEL – 2700m (a1m1/2) –  – Harness – EUR € 200,000

1. LIPANGA DE GUEZ – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently a 2700m Gr.3 here earlier this month, and can be disregarded

2. LUMINOSITY – Takes on an arduous task after trotting 3rd to LONDON (6) in a 2700m Gr.3 here on 7 June and, even fitted with pads, will need to raise her game considerably

3. LOGAN JIEL – Faulted on return to competition in a 2700m Gr.3 here  earlier this month and, in this high-class field, will have little to offer

4. LEONARDO ROC – Takes a big step up in class after trotting last but one in a 2700m Gr.3 here on 7 June. 4 pads fitted for the first time but others still preferred

5. LILAS CASTELLE – Dependability not her strong suit but reassured somewhat when 4th to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in race of reference. A repeat, however seems improbable

6. LONDON – Progressive filly that made it 2 in a row when winning a 2700m Gr.3 here, with authority, earlier this month. Takes on some good horses this time but sports front pads and should not be far from the action

7. LOULOU DE MYE – No slouch on a good day but will need to improve on his 6th of 11 in Gr.2 Prix Kalmia in late-May. Hind pads fitted but still not an obvious choice

8. LOMBOK JIEL – Took little time getting back in the game, latterly runner-up to LUCKY JACKSON (9), but could have finished closer had he been afforded the chance. Pads on this time and will be no pushover

9. LUCKY JACKSON – Back at the top of his game over recent weeks, latterly winning 2175m Gr.2 Prix Kalmia here on 28 May. Son Nicolas reining this time and is absolutely not out of the equation

10. LA JOYEUSE WICZ – Gr.1 winner that has yet to get into her stride, most recently 7th of 9 in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Ozo late-May. Has merit though and with pads back on should show improvement

11. LOTTA BOURBON – Unable to confirm her Gr.2 Prix Masina success when 5th to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in last month’s Prix Ozo and has a lot more to find

12. LIZA JOSSELYN – Facile winner of 2175m Gr.2 Prix Ozo here on 28 May. Is quite clearly a horse for the future and is capable of denying LUCIANO MENUET (15). Claim

13. LOVINO BELLO – 4th to LUCKY JACKSON (9) in Prix Kalmia race of reference, despite being denied a run, but Eric Raffin will be loathe to allow that to happen again. Place chance

14. LOUISIANE DE BOMO – Good consistent filly that came 3rd to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Ozo late-May. Not a priority this time but seldom disappoints and merits respect

15. LUCIANO MENUET – Won Gr.2 Prix Paul Karle on re-entry before trotting 3rd to LUCKY JACKSON (9) in Gr.2 Prix Kalmia on 28 May. Faces a tougher test this time but pads will only enhance his already good prospects. Chance

Summary: Considered among the best horses he has bred, Jean-Michel Bazire’s LIZA JOSSELYN (12) takes on the colts for the first time but is fitted with 4 pads for the occasion and is capable of winning this. She is going to face opposition though from recent Gr.2 winner LUCIANO MENUET (15) who similarly sports pads, and LOVINO BELLO (13) who was not the luckiest in the Prix Kalmia, but who will not be far off the mark if Eric Raffin keeps him out of trouble. Second that day, LOMBOK JIEL (8) showed his form and will be more competitive with pads fitted.

SELECTIONS

C9 – PRIX EQUIDIA-MOLOTOV (PRIX B. DELOISON) – 2850m (a2m) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 90,000

1. IBISCUS MAN – 3rd of 16 in a 2100m Class C here on 17 May. Very hard to knock when focused, seldom disappoints under these conditions, and must be afforded respect

2. GOAL STAR – Serious sort that comfortably won a Class B over course and distance a fortnight ago. Has earned the right to race in this company and has a decent chance of making first 3

3. INDIGO DE FONTAINE – Excellent trotter with an enviable win-rate. Sanctioned on re-entry in a Class B over course and distance 2 weeks ago, but is very hard to fault when barefoot and should make this his own

4. GHOSTBUSTER – Blows hot and cold but a reassuring 3rd to HARLEY GEMA (7) in 2700m Class C here on 14 June. Paul Ploquin reining this time but chances still limited

5. HURELLA – Complicated but useful in both codes. 6th, behind GARDNER SHAW (9), in a 2150m Enghien Class B on 25 May but the 2nd line start will do her no favours

6. HANNIBAL TUILERIE – 12th of 15, when still being conditioned, in a 2850m GNT Laval Gr.3 on 5 June. Barefoot with Matthieu Abrivard reining this time and can apply the pressure on INDIGO DE FONTAINE (3)

7. HARLEY GEMA – Impressive winner of a 2700m Class C here mid-month. Never far from faulting but is in cracking form and deserves to take her chances

8. FASHION TOUCH – 7th, behind GARDNER SHAW (9), in a 2150m Enghien Class B late last month and appears to have no possible chance

9. GARDNER SHAW – Honest trotter that finished 5th of 14 in a 2150m Enghien Class A last weekend. Would have better chances a level down and can be passed over

10. GUINESS D’HERFRAIE – Won over 2700m here before trotting 4th of 16 in a Class B over course and distance late last month and, in this field, will need to find more

11. IMPRESSIONIST – 4th of 10 finishers, when being conditioned, in a 2550m Beaumont-de-Lomagne Class C on 25 May. Barefoot this time, has an excellent entry, but still not a contender

12. GOELAND D’HAUFOR – 3rd to FAKIR DE MAHEY (13) here last month but failed to confirm in a 2850m Laval Gr.3 on 5 June, and others easier to back

13. FAKIR DE MAHEY – Won a Class A over track and trip mid-May but faulted in a Gr.2 under these conditions a fortnight ago. Steps up in category though and may have too much to do

14. FULTON – Faulted in a 2175m monté Gr.3 here on 4 June. Here for a change of scenery and can be discounted

15. GASPAR D’ANGIS – Last but one, on re-entry earlier in the month, in a Laval Gr.3. Only incurs a 25m penalty this time and, sporting a successful configuration, with Eric Raffin reining, is unlikely to go down without a fight

16. ERIC THE EEL – Runner-up in a similar event before coming 5th of 9 in a Gr.2 over course and distance a fortnight ago, and although not a priority, is still worth retaining

Summary: INDIGO DE FONTAINE (3) won 5 in a row over the winter before being sent for a break. He excels over 2850m and barefoot for his first objective of the new season, should have this in the bag. Leading the opposition’s charge will be main-track-loving HANNIBAL TUILERIE (6) who is similarly unshod-all-4, and the complicated HARLEY GEMA (7) who returned to the winners’ enclosure here 9 days ago. GOAL STAR (2) has hardly put a foot out of line all year, most recently won a Class B under these conditions and steps up in class with justified ambition.
