8. KAEPERNICK – Reassured somewhat when 6th of 10 in a 2750m Class D at La Capelle on 21 June. Not everyone’s cup of tea but is still worth retaining
9. KAROLUS FAIR – Surprise 3rd at Laval mid-June but failed to confirm on 8 July when 9th of 14 in a 2650m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne. Limited chances
10. KITO TURGOT – Impressive winner of a 2700m Class F at La Capelle earlier in the month. Not the most reliable but has never disappointed here and will justifiably generate interest. First 5
11. KARAT DE BUSSET – Unraced since securing the double in a 2250m Enghien monté Class E last October and, shod for the occasion, will not be given a hard race
12. KINGDOM DE CHENU – Flew up at Chartres before breaking into a gallop in a 2800m Langon Class E a week ago. Not a priority but is still worth keeping an eye on
13. KYOSHIRO – Has not been seen out since finishing 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2700m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche mid-May. Top pilot engaged for the occasion and, if race-fit, can make this his own
14. KARAT COOL – 6th of 8 in a 2800m Chartres Class E on 19 June. Pleased on sole appearance here, benefits from a good entry, is barefoot this time, and must be taken seriously
Summary: A very different horse when racing barefoot, KYOSHIRO (13) may not have raced since May but he has had time to freshen up and with Yoann Lebourgeois at the helm, can get straight back in the game. That being said, KOSTELLO DE LOU (7) has also been very effective with shoes off and, clearly in shape, will be dangerous if he stays in stride. KALL ME SIXTY ONE (5) has a 25m head-start, is shod to preference, and looks competitively well-in. In spite of his recent results, KING TURGOT (6) is still one for the shortlist.

16. JEDEO DES VAUX – Unlucky not to finish close at La Capelle but came a reassuring 2nd of 7 in a 2800m Chartres Class E late last month. With application, and form maintained, there should be a place cheque in it for him
Summary: The big guns are on the 2nd line here with most of the interest to be concentrated on the excellent and in-form JUST ME NESLE (15) who is barefoot following his harness conditioner. Marius Durville will still want to be wary of the complicated but capable JOYAU DE SOYORA (14) who returns to racing with front pads, and the well-entered, and freshly-configured, JEDEO DES VAUX (16) who left a very good impression at Chartres last time out. JACIO SLAP (3) benefits from a front-row start, has references under the saddle, and with hind shoes off for the first time could pleasantly surprise.

Summary: One of the more interesting races on the card, with a number in contention, but preference must nevertheless go to recent Laval winner IGUANE DE CAPONET (8) who was narrowly beaten over longer here a fortnight earlier. Barring a pair of sanctions, IXORA (1) has been superb this year and legitimately bids to confirm her sublime Cabourg victory. IMOKO JIBELAU (5) blows hot and cold but a repeat of his most recent run would see him finish close. INDIEN DE FONTAINE (3) held on well at La Capelle last month and Julien Raffestin will be eager to capitalise on the good draw.

Summary: Highly regarded JOYAUX DE REUX (4) has been sparingly raced and is probably a lot better than his record may suggest. He would’ve benefitted appreciably from a much-needed comeback outing at Erbray earlier this month and it could pay to follow his progress here, especially with Matthieu Abrivard at the helm. JOY BRETONNIERE (11) has taken her game to new heights recently, winning 2 of her last 3 starts (including her latest), and will pose a threat to the selection if making further progress. The booking of Benjamin Rochard in the sulky bodes well for the chances of JOHN ANGOT (8), whose consistency ought to be rewarded sooner rather than later. JUNIOR DU GRENIER (5) and JOLLY DES BORDES (13) appeal most of the remainder.
