C1 – PRIX DE SAINT-CERNIN – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 12,000 |
1. HELICIO BELLO – Makes just 2nd appearance in this division after coming 5th of 10 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Takes on some battle-hardened elements here but nevertheless seems good enough to make first 5
2. ICARE DE LA DORETE – 4th in a Vittel amateurs event before coming 3rd of 12 in a 3150m Abbeville Class E last weekend. Seldom delivers in the day’s configuration and not a priority
3. IBRAHIM DU RIB – Makes first amateur appearance after trotting 5th of 9 in an 1800m Class D at La Capelle early-July. Makes 50th start with a realistic chance of getting that maiden monkey off his back
4. HOLD UP MESLOIS – Fast-finishing 3rd of 9 in an amateurs Class G over course and distance late last month. Is ideally-placed in front and looks the pick of the field
5. GINA COSTARDIERE – Modest element that was disqualified from a 2400m Domfront Class H late-July and will not be troubling the judge
6. IZAAC D’HAVAROCHE – Debuts in the amateur division after coming 5th of 11 in a 2625m Class F at Saint-Jean-de-Monts last Sunday. Has a front row start and will not be far from the action if Kévin Giraud can keep him focused
7. HIDALGO BOY – 5th of 7 finishers in a 3100m Plessé amateurs Class H 2.5 weeks ago. Seldom lets the side down when applied and must be respected
8. HARLEY DU CHERISAY – Returns to the harness code after faulting in a 2800m Compiègne monté Class F 3 weeks ago. Has solid amateur references and, in spite of the draw, will be competitive for a place in the frame
9. IT’S DU QUENNE – Good 2nd at Enghien mid-July before finishing an oddly lacklustre 6th of 9 in a 2850m Mauquenchy amateurs Class G on 5 August. On second line here but can still play a prominent role
10. ILDO DU VIVIER – Sanctioned in last 4, latterly a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F 11 days ago, and others easier to trust
11. IRONIE DU BAS BOSQ – 3rd of 12 in a 3050m amateurs Class H at Montier-en-Der earlier this month. In better company this time though and the draw only compounds matters
Summary: HOLD UP MESLOIS (4) held his own in a similar event here late last month and has the capacity to win a race of this nature. Jean-Philippe Bazire can still expect to encounter resistance from the similarly well-positioned amateur-debutant IBRAHIM DU RIB (3) who is back to racing with front pads, and IT’S DU QUENNE (9) who has never disappointed at Enghien. HARLEY DU CHERISAY (8) has been handed a wide draw but he benefits from a very good entry and, with Barbara Genet reining, can get back to doing what he does best.

1. LIBELLA DU HOULBET – Takes a dip in category after trotting 7th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Benjamin Rochard reining this time but others still preferred
2. LANCELOT VENESI – Close 2nd to LEADER DU LOISIR (9) in a claimer over course and distance on 27 June. Is better-placed behind the car and can exact revenge
3. LANKA – Won a Feurs claimer before coming last of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Is well-positioned on front line, shod to preference, but still has a lot to find
4. LIBRE PENSEUR MEEK – Looked a different horse when 2nd of 9 in a 2725m Cabourg Class D a month ago. Well-placed in front and, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining again, can play a leading role
5. LARIFLETTE – Last of 9 in a 2775m Class D at Les Sables-d’Olonne earlier this month. Pads fitted this time but still has no realistic chance
6. LADOTA PRIOR – Left a good impression here before coming 10th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Starts in front though and, with application, can play a prominent role
7. LIVRE BLANC – Unremarkable 6th of 9 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C earlier this month. Did win his only claiming start though and, with application, can finish in the mix
8. LE PONT FOULT – Has not been seen out since running 2nd to LIVRE BLANC (7) in a 2100m Vincennes claimer on 11 June. Could have asked for a better draw but can still get in on the action
9. LEADER DU LOISIR – Surprise winner of a claimer over course and distance late-June. Has had time to freshen up and even though starting on the back line, can nevertheless double his money
10. LOYALE DAIRPET – 4th of 7 in a 3000m Class B at Rochefort-sur-Loire earlier in the month. Is confirmed in the claiming category and, despite a 2nd row draw, can still play an active role
11. LADY DE CORDAY – 4th to LEADER DU LOISIR (9) here late-June before trotting 5th to LANKA (3) in a 2050m Feurs claimer earlier this month, but bites off more than she can chew this time
12. LOLITA DE LANDEMER – Below-par in last 3, most recently 8th of 10 in a Class E over course and distance late last month. 4 pads fitted for first time but still no more than a minor place chance
13. LOZEN DE BANVILLE – Back under harness after faulting in a 2250m monté Class E here a fortnight ago. On 2nd line and can be passed over
14. LORIE DE LA PRADE – Takes first steps at this level after finishing 9th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D on 30 July. Poor draw, no danger
15. LIKE YOU DUSSAC – 7th of 9 in a 2300m Montier-en-Der Class F earlier in the month. Handed a rough draw and will not find this an easy test
Summary: Consistent for the most part and confirmed in this category, LANCELOT VENESI (2) lost out by the smallest of margins to LEADER DU LOISIR (9) in a similar event over longer here in late-June, but the former has a better spot behind the car and can turn the tables. Runner-up in good company at Cabourg mid-July, LIBRE PENSEUR MEEK (4) is well-placed to give this a good go. LADOTA PRIOR (6) pleased here last month and will be no pushover if Mathieu Mottier keeps her trotting.

1. LEATITUDE PIEMONT – Last but one on debut in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F 3.5 weeks ago. Has more to offer and in the hands of Damien Bonne is unlikely to disappoint
2. LILY JHEST – 5th of 8, on re-entry, in a 2650m Portbail Class F last weekend. Front pads fitted this time but others still easier to back
3. LIBERTY D’IPEJY – Put a quintet of sanctions behind her when 5th of 9 in a 2700m Segré Class G mid-June. Has not been seen out since and is unlikely to generate much interest
4. LOLA DU LIVET – Should not be too hastily-judged for recent sanction in a 2375m Dozulé Class F. Lacks reliability, not ability, and the engagement of a top jockey will only enhance her prospects
5. LOLITA DE MIELOUI – 6th of 11 in a 2375m Dozulé Class F earlier this month and is not about to ruffle any feathers
6. LAZIE PONT VAUTIER – Back under the saddle after finishing last of 9 in a 2750m harness Class E at La Capelle 2.5 weeks ago. By no means a leading prospect but is still good enough to make first 5
7. LEMPICKA SEPT – Has taken to the monté code like a duck to water, pulling off the double in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys late-June. Has freshness on her side and even though stepping up in category, still looks the horse to beat
8. LUCKY LADY D’AMOUR – Yet to disappoint under the saddle, most recently 3rd of 8 in a 2250m Class E here a fortnight ago. Will be fully-fit by now and can have her day in the sun
9. LUTTE DU LOGIS – 6th of 8 in a harness Class D over course and distance a month ago. Debuts under the saddle with a leading jockey in the irons and looks a player
Summary: Unbeaten in 2 monté starts after having shown little aptitude for the harness game, LEMPICKA SEPT (7) makes her metropolitan debut on a hat-trick and, with hind pads fitted this time, can pull it off. LUCKY LADY D’AMOUR (8), on the other hand, is useful in both codes and her recent Enghien performance augurs well for her chances. Just €5 from elimination, LUTTE DU LOGIS (9) races shod this time and the engagement of Paul Ploquin will do her prospects no disservice. LOLA DU LIVET (4) seems still to be rather green but her ability is not in question and, with Benjamin Rochard reining, is not to be underestimated.

C4 – PRIX DE PONT SAINT-MARTIN – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000 |
1. LADY PRINCESS – Makes metropolitan debut on a 3-timer, most recently winning a 2700m Class E at La Capelle with authority. Has a shed-load of untapped potential and will be expected to make her presence felt at the business and of the race
2. LEIA PRINCESS – Useful future prospect making first appearance since coming 3rd in a 2850m Vincennes Class D late-March. Fitted with 4 pads for the first time though and, from the 2-spot, is not to be underestimated
3. LUMIERE DU CHENE – Won 2 of last 3, latterly a 2750m Class E at La Capelle in good order 2.5 weeks ago. Gets a second crack at the whip, fitted with front pads this time, and is not incapable of imposing
4. L’ETOILE – 11th of 13 when prepping for this in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Has a lot going for her here and can return to winning ways
5. LYRA POTERIE – Left a good impression, on return to competition, when 3rd of 10 in a 2725m Cabourg Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Benefits from a good place on front line but still represents no more than a minor place prospect
6. LA GUARDIA – Got straight down to business on return from a spell, winning a 2050m Feurs Class E a month back. In superior company this time and is unlikely to spring a surprise
7. LOUNA D’OR – Last of 11 in a 2875m Class C here late last month. Breaks wide and can be ruled out
8. LADY D’ECAJEUL – Improving sort that opened her account in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys on 30 June. Steps up in category and will have her chances if Alexis Collette successfully negotiates the start
9. LA BOMBONERA – In the frame in 4 of last 5, latterly 3rd of 10 finishers in a Class E over course and distance on 31 July. Unlikely to lose her maiden tag but is plainly in form and can pick up a cheque
10. LIKE A BIRD STAR – Surprised when 6th of 10, behind LYRA POTERIE (5), in a 2725m Cabourg Class D 3.5 weeks ago. At this level however, will have little to contribute
11. LADY POP – Unremarkable filly that finished 9th of 10, behind LYRA POTERIE, in a 2725m Cabourg Class D 3.5 weeks ago and is totally out of her depth here
12. LUNA D’ARNHEM – Came close to losing her maiden status when 2nd of 8 in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class E on 21 July but, in this category, will struggle to make her presence felt
13. LOOK AFTER – 2nd of 8, on re-entry, in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle 3 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run, but starts from the back and will need to be at her best
14. LUCKY STAR JIEL – Has 2 races under her belt since the break, most recently last but one in a 2875m Class D here a month ago. Fitted with hind pads this time but still not easy to make a case
15. LINNA DE VANDEL – Made up for 2 straight sanctions when 3rd of 8 in a 2875m Class E here last week. Handed a tough draw but still has the wherewithal to finish close
16. LADY VICTORY – Starts for the first time since trotting 6th of 7 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C in early-April and will need the race
Summary: A particularly capable filly that opened her account two months ago, L’ETOILE (4) is shod to preference this time, has been handed an excellent spot behind the car, and can win this. That said, she will still face considerable opposition from the similarly well-positioned, and freshly-configured, LUMIERE DU CHENE (3) who made up for her Enghien flop with victory at La Capelle, and LADY PRINCESS (1) who looks a decent candidate for the hat-trick. LADY D’ECAJEUL (8) is forced to start wide but she has consistency on her side and deserves to take her chances at this level.

1. KIRIO DE REUX – Back in business over recent weeks, most recently winning a 2700m Class F at La Capelle 2.5 weeks ago. Has the inside line and, with it, every chance of remaining unbeaten with his Italian driver
2. KABOBBY SANT – Back under harness after trotting 4th of 8 in a 2750m monté Class E at La Capelle 2.5 weeks ago, and will have nothing to contribute
3. KRIS ROC – Pleasant 5th of 10 in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class D on 20 July. Handed a good draw but stays shod this time and others preferred
4. KINGSTON DU GOSIER – Reassuring, but surprising, 3rd of 10 in a 2400m Amiens Class E 2 weeks ago, Is confirmed under these conditions and, from the 4-spot, can give this a good go
5. KIKLOVE ATOUT – Unlucky in running when 5th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E late last month. Form is not in question and will not be far from the action if Jérémy Koubiche keeps him out of trouble
6. KING DE PLAY – Last of 8 in a 2475m Royan Class E late-July and, in this field, has no possible chance
7. KAROLUS FAIR – Sanctioned early in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E on 5 August. Has placed just once in 7 this season and can be ruled out
8. KENTUCKY SAM – Sanctioned in a 2750m Cabourg Class E late-July, on just 2nd start for new trainer. Big gun called up for the occasion and is not to be underestimated
9. KAPOOR D’OLMEN – Quite the revelation over recent months, latterly winning a 2700m Cagnes Class F on 17 July, and can double his money if he takes to the Enghien profile
10. KING SUN DRALIAM – Took little time showing his form after the break, finishing 2nd of 8 in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class F 10 days ago. On the back line but the Matthieu Abrivard-factor must be taken into consideration
11. KENTUCKY DERBY – Complicated type that faulted in a 2200m Agon-Coutainville Class F a week ago. Has merit, however, and with his trainer at the helm this time, can get back in the game
12. KING’S RETURN – 6th of 11 finishers, when prepping for this, in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E earlier in the month. Sports a new configuration and can pick up a thin slice of the pie
13. KINDER DE LA NAVE – Sanctioned, at 145/1, in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class E earlier in the month and and can be confidently passed over
Summary: Improving with every run, KAPOOR D’OLMEN (9) made no bones about opening his account a month ago and, even though starting on the 2nd line here, he races first-time barefoot and should just have the measure of the on-form KIRIO DE REUX (1) who is unbeaten with Gabi Gelormini reining. KIKLOVE ATOUT (5) has been knocking at the door over recent months and is unlikely to disappoint. KENTUCKY SAM (8) starts wide but reverts to a successful configuration and, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining, will be afforded every chance.

1. JABELLINA – Has not finished out of the frame in last 12 starts, most recently winning over 2000m at Duindigt on 25 July. New to Enghien but in present condition is very easy to like
2. JOHANNA ELEVEN – Modest 7th of 10 in an 1800m Class E at La Capelle early-July. Goes barefoot on this occasion but still not a realistic proposition
3. JUANA DE SEY – 5th of 15 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Has solid left-handed references and, with form maintained, will be no soft touch
4. JUBILATION – Has done nothing but progress since returning to competition, most recently 3rd of 11 in a 2950m Le Mans Class F 3 weeks ago. Should take well to Enghien conditions and looks competitively well-in
5. JEZABEL DU BISTON – 5th behind JAKIRA (14) in a 2400m Amiens Class F earlier this month. Form heading in right direction but still not a priority
6. JOA DE LA LOUTRIE – Courageous winner of a 2150m Mauquenchy Class F on 25 July. Reunited with Théo Bellet who won with her at Caen and will be competitive for a place on the podium
7. JACANA DE BLARY – Faulted in a 2200m Agon-Coutainville monté Class F a week ago. Has merit but other more interesting options available
8. JILIKA DU MESLE – Somewhat unlucky to lose her action in a 2875m Class E here 3 weeks ago. Is very hard to knock when focused and the change of shoeing may be just the ticket to her success
9. JALISCA FLIGNY – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently a 3000m Class F at Neuillé-Pont-Pierre 12 days ago, and others easier to back
10. JALBA DU FER – Imposed at Vichy before being pulled-up [after interference] in Amiens race of reference. Faces a tougher test on this occasion though and others preferred
11. JOSY EXPRESS – Sanctioned in both return runs, latterly a 2875m Class E at Meslay-du-Maine 2.5 weeks ago. Races barefoot this time and, although not a priority, is still one to monitor
12. JIMOKA – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2950m Vichy Class E late-June. Has form at this level and makes her Enghien debut with justified ambition
13. JAVA DE BOITRON – 4th, a place behind JAKIRA (14), in a 2400m Amiens Class F on 1 August. Pleased on lone start here, races barefoot again, and is not incapable of springing a small surprise
14. JAKIRA – Reassuring 3rd of 9, at 28/1, in a 2400m Amiens Class F a fortnight ago. Takes on a tougher bunch this time though and a repeat seems improbable
15. JENNA DAIRPET – Enjoying something of a renaissance this summer, most recently dominating a 2400m Châteaubriant monté Class F 10 days ago, and will not be far off the mark if form transitions
Summary: Very much an open affair this, however preference just goes to the hardy, and reconfigured, JILIKA DU MESLE (8) who was not the most fortunate here 3 weeks ago. William Forniglia will be justifiably wary of JIMOKA (12) who reverts to a previous formula in a bid to put her recent sanctions to bed. JUANA DE SEY (3) raced better last time than the result would suggest and must be afforded respect, while recent Mauquenchy winner JOA DE LA LOUTRIE (6) will be dangerous if still on the boil.

1. KAI LA SHA – Not as sharp as she was earlier in the season, latterly 6th behind KLASSE DE BRUZEAU (13) in a Class D over 2150m here on 24 July. Not a priority but races first-time barefoot and is worth keeping an eye on
2. KALIE D’URSIN – Unraced since finishing 6th of 9 in a 2700m Vincennes monté Class D last December and can be confidently ruled out
3. KAZA ROCK – Last but one in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Has form at this level and, if fully-fit, can get a look-in
4. KATIA DHELPA – Last but one in a 2150m Vichy Class D a fortnight ago. Benjamin Rochard takes over the reins but still not an obvious contender
5. KALY D’EOLE – Decent 4th of 8 in a 2150m Vichy Class D earlier this month, but takes on a tougher bunch this time and will have limited chances
6. KARLITA MADRIK – Disappointing since the start of the year, most recently sanctioned in a 2900m Clairefontaine Class D mid-July and, even with modified shoeing, can be passed over
7. KERRA UP STAR – 2nd of 14 when preparing for this in a 2875m Class F here early last month. Goes barefoot on this occasion and, with form maintained, should put on a good showing
8. KILIA PETTEVINIERE – Back under harness after faulting in a monté Class D over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Has other priorities though and can be passed over
9. KISS ME DU LIVET – Useful type but has not been seen out since coming 5th of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D 6 months ago, and will have little to contribute
10. KWINIE JIHAIME – Victorious at La Capelle before coming 6th of 13 in a 2150m Class D here early-July. In superior company this time around and is not about to shake things up
11. KIM DE BEAUM – 6th of 9 finishers in a 3000m Class D at Rochefort-sur-Loire 3.5 weeks ago and, in present form, will have little to offer
12. KOMERE DE CORDAY – Has turned a corner since returning to racing barefoot, latterly making short work of a course-and-distance Class E late last month. Is unbeaten with Mathieu Mottier and has the capacity to keep their successful relationship going
13. KLASSE DE BRUZEAU – 3rd of 10 finishers in a Class D over 2150m here 3 weeks ago. Appears to be back on the right road and will not be far off the mark. First 5
14. KRAKANTE – Made it 3 on the trot 2 weeks ago, winning a 2750m Cabourg Class D with authority, and will be expected to continue the successful run
15. KINDY DU VIVIER – Has won 2 of 3 when barefoot, most recently with ease in a 2875m Class E here earlier in the month, and looks main threat to KRAKANTE (14)
16. KENTUCKY VALLEY – Last of 11 when prepping for this in a Class D over 2150m here late last month. Has bags of ability and, already a winner at the venue, will be no easy touch
Summary: A remarkable competitor that pulled off the 3-timer at Cabourg a fortnight ago, KRAKANTE (14) makes her Paris debut with every chance of making it a victorious one. Excellent when barefoot and recently a winner under these conditions, KINDY DU VIVIER (15) enjoys a good entry and looks a marginally better choice than the hat-trick-seeking KOMERE DE CORDAY (12) who also imposed at Enghien last time out. Nicely-in at the limit of earnings, KENTUCKY VALLEY (16) races barefoot for the first time, with Gabi Gelormini reining.

1. IGGY DE FLORANGE – Barring his Meslay mis-step, has been hard to fault, latterly 2nd of 9 in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F on 5 August. Won in this configuration here late-June and once again looks a serious proposition
2. IBILI D’OCCAGNES – Has done nothing but progress lately, most recently winning a 2750m Cabourg Class F, in good order, a fortnight ago. Unlikely to repeat but races barefoot and can hold his own
3. HUMOUR FESTIF – Put 4 harness sanctions behind him when 2nd to a fine horse in a 2875m Argentan Class F a month back and, in similar shape, can impose this time
4. HAGUE GEMA – Won 2 in a row before trotting 4th to IGGY DE FLORANGE (1) in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F on 5 August. Takes on better this time but will still have her supporters
5. IL TROTTE JARL – 2nd of 6 finishers in a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle 9 days ago. Front shoes off this time, adores Enghien, and is not about to go down without a fight
6. HELITE ELEVEN – In the frame in last 2 under the saddle, most recently 2nd of 7 in a 2750m Class F at La Capelle 3.5 weeks ago, and while not a leading contender, she races barefoot this time and can get a look-in
7. HAUTENTICA – 4th under the saddle at Pornichet before trotting 7th of 10 in a 3000m Châteaubriant harness Class F 10 days ago. Benefits from a superb entry and Paul Ploquin will be loathe to let it slip by
Summary: Not once out of the first 5 in 3 starts under the saddle, HUMOUR FESTIF (3) left a very good impression at Argentan last month and if still on the boil, will be preferred to the consistent IGGY DE FLORANGE (1) who made up at Mauquenchy for his Meslay sanction, and a barefoot HAUTENTICA (7) who is confirmed here in the other code.

1. D’ORES ET DEJA – Got going late once the penny had dropped to finish an encouraging 3rd on debut at Dieppe over 1400m on 23 July – finished just behind DUNE (2). Will be a factor
2. DUNE – Showed promise on debut at Dieppe, finishing 2nd over 1400m on 23 July. Candidate for success given likely improvement
3. FAME – Didnt go unnoticed when finishing 5th on debut at Dieppe over 1400m on 23 July. Would’ve benefitted from that experience
4. BERLINETTA – Made marked improvement in first-time headgear to finish 3rd over 1600m at Clairefontaine on 27 July. Dark horse
5. OLYA – Improved/built on a pleasing introduction (6th) at Compiegne over 1400m to finish 2nd over 1600m at Clairefontaine on 27 July. Not taken lightly
6. LINDERHOF – Caught the eye by running on well to finish 4th over 1600m at Vichy on 31 July, improving on her debut 9th at Saint-Cliud in June. Could have a role to play
Summary: DUNE (2) and D’ORES ET DEJA (1) made promising introductions at Dieppe recently, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively, and both would’ve benefitted from that experience. They are likely to fight for victory with improvement expected of both. OLYA (5) improved after a pleasing debut to finish 2nd last time out and, with further progress on the cards, could threaten those rivals. LINDERHOF (6) fits a similar profile and could make her presence felt too, if confirming/building on the improvement of her last start.

1. NEUSCHWANSTEIN – Didnt go unnoticed when finishing 6th on debut over 1400m at Chantilly on 14 July – held by HARVEY (5) on that form. Has legitimate podium prospects
2. PERFECT PICTURE – Finished unplaced (well-beaten 8th) over 1400m on debut at Chantilly on 14 July. Best watched for now
3. HOHENSCHWANGAU – Acquitted himself well when finishing 3rd on debut behind two promising colts at Dieppe over 1400m on 23 July. Should have more to offer
4. RASTRELLARE – Unplaced in both starts but far from disgraced in either outing, the latest (5th) over 1600m at Saint-Malo on 15 July. Dark horse
5. HARVEY – Was the subject of ‘track talk’ on debut and justified that interest by finishing a good 2nd over 1400m at Chantilly on 14 July. Follow
6. CHAUMIERE DE PRE – Failed to confirm/build on the promise of his debut 4th at Saint-Cloud when only 6th at Saint-Cloud over 1400m on 11 June
7. EGGLESTON – Ghaiyyath colt trained by Christophe Ferland. Julien Pelicier’s 3,5kg allowance will aid this newcomer’s cause
8. GAITH – Satoshi Kobayashi-trained Belardo colt whose chances shouldnt be underestimated given that Mickaël Barzalona is engaged to ride
9. ACTO – Ectot colt to be ridden on debut by Tony Piccone for trainer Fabrice Chappet. Not to be taken lightly
Summary: HARVEY (5) made an eye-catching debut at Chantilly last month – finished a promising 2nd over 1400m – and needn’t make much improvement to go one better and open his account. He gets the nod ahead of HOHENSCHWANGAU (3), who didnt go unnoticed either on his introduction (3rd) at Dieppe. NEUSCHWANSTEIN (1) is also likely to improve/build on his pleasing debut 6th, so shouldn’t be underestimated. Newcomer EGGLESTON (7) is one to keep an eye on with his rider taking 3,5kg off the back.

1. WILD HORSES – Course-and-distance debut winner on 5 July and would’ve come on appreciably with the benefit of that experience. Keep safe
2. DONE DEAL – Debut winner in April and confirmed that promise by finishing 2nd in consecutive starts. Finished 5th in a Listed race over this course and distance on 27 July
3. FLYWIRE – Only once finished worse than 2nd in 5 appearances (was 4th over 2400m at Chantilly in May). Finished a good 2nd, proving his form and well-being, in a 2400m Listed race at Vichy on 15 July – sets the standard
4. GET TOGETHER – Consistent performer with sound references/form credentials on both surfaces, including a last-start 4th in a 1900m PSF handicap at Deauville on 30 July. Place chance
5. MOONGLADE – Debut winner over this course and distance on 5 July and would’ve gained plenty from that experience. Not taken lightly
Summary: Top-rated FLYWIRE (3) sets a good standard on the strength and consistency of his recent form – which includes a good 2nd in a Listed race at Vichy last month – and is good value to reconnect with success given the drop in grade back into a Class 1. MOONGLADE (5) and WILD HORSES (1) made winning introductions on this course and are open to any amount of progress. 2. PROLETARIUS – Unplaced in 2 appearances, finished 8th on both occasions – the latest (2000m) at Compiegne on 12 July
3. PARTENIT – Consistent hard-knocker with undeniable means – boasts sound references/form credentials at a higher level. Unsuited by how the race developed when only 7th over 2000m at Marseille-Borely on 21 June
4. HAMAKI – Has hit the ground running on French soil, finishing 2nd in both starts since arriving from England – the latest in a 2400m Listed race at Vichy on 16 July. Candidate for success
5. SOBER – The highest-rated runner in the race with the best form references/credentials. Acquitted himself well in consecutive Group II races recently – the latest (5th) over 2800m at ParisLongchamp on 13 July – follow
6. ZULU WARRIOR – Ultra-consistent performer with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 6th in a 3000m Listed race at Deauville on 28 July
7. CASSIUS – Revealed considerable promise in 2023 but has been disappointing this year – unplaced in consecutive Quinte+ handicaps recently, the latest (15th) over 1900m on PSF at Deauville on 28 July
Summary: SOBER (5) is the class horse in this race and sets a very good standard on the strength of his recent form/displays in Group II events at ParisLongchamp. He ought to take advantage of this drop in class by returning to winning ways. HAMAKI (4), who was 2nd in a Listed race over this distance at Vichy last time out, seems best equipped to make life difficult for the selection although both MONONOF (1) and PARTENIT (3) aren’t incapable of posing a threat either.

6. THE LAST WALTZ – Fair 3rd in a class 2 race on her return from a nine-month absence on July 12th at Compiegne over 2000m. Can have a say
Summary: In a competitive race, PERLE ROUGE (5) can edge this after some decent efforts in Class 1 races, the latest in late July at La Teste when she was fourth and beaten less than a length. MONTY (2) will make her work hard, he is not the force of old but is still good enough to have a say in proceedings. THE LAST WALTZ (6) looks the best of the other four, she will strip fitter for a credible effort when third in mid-July on her first run for nine months.
