French Selections Friday 30th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX LAMPETIA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 53,000

1. JURELLA – Complicated but capable mare starting for first time since faulting in a 2850m Class C here late-February. Shoes on and no threat

2. LET IT BE VP – Form regressing at present, most recently 8th of 12 in a 2150m Enghien Class E mid-month and, even with front pads fitted, will have nothing to contribute

3. CAROLYN FRANCIS – Reassured across town late-July before finishing 7th of 12 in a 2150m Enghien Class E mid-month. Front shoes off but still not an obvious choice

4. JOLYSTAR GEDE – Sanctioned in 2 since imposing at Enghien 2 months ago, latterly a 2925m Cagnes Class B on 29 July. Front shoes off but still an outsider

5. MAX OCCAGNES – Ultra-consistent trotter making French debut after coming 3rd of 12 in a 2500m Berlin-Mariendorf Gr.2 a fortnight ago and must be afforded significant respect

6. DRAGOWSKI – Facile winner of an Enghien Class D before running 5th of 13 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B 9 days ago. Unlikely to have his way but can still make first 5

7. JUNKIE (SWE) – Quality mare that finished last of 13 on re-entry in a 2850m Class B here on 21 August. Stays shod though and others preferred this time

8. DESTINO D.J. – Unraced since trotting 3rd of 14 in a 2850m Class B here on 24 May, but is proven when fresh and is a class above most here. Claim

9. JIBI DU FRUITIER – Quality element with nothing to prove at this level. Excels with Eric Raffin reining and has the capacity to give DESTINO D.J. (8) a run for his money

10. JOLIE COKTAIL – Should not be too hastily-judged for coming last of 13 in a 2825m Class E at Sablé-sur-Sarthe a month ago. Is plainly in fine form and will not be far off the mark

11. JAZZ DE PERVENCHE – Sanctioned in a 3100m Vibraye Class D mid-month. Sports modified shoeing and should not be far off the mark if he can stay in stride

Summary: As consistent as they come since leaving Italy, and unbeaten over 2700m here, DESTINO D.J. (8) may not have been seen out for 3 months, but he is clearly in ‘competition-mode’ and can get straight down to business. JIBI DU FRUITIER (9), however, has 3 runs in him and going barefoot with Eric Raffin in charge, will be no easy touch. New to France, MAX OCCAGNES (5) most recently ran 3rd in a Berlin Gr.2 and the engagement of David Thomain will do his prospects no disservice. JOLIE COKTAIL (10) has talent in spades, is twice a winner over course and distance, and can give this a good go.

SELECTIONS
DESTINO D.J. (8) – JIBI DU FRUITIER (9) – MAX OCCAGNES (5) – JOLIE COKTAIL (10)
C2 – PRIX AMALIA – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 53,000

1. JIHERE DU PORET – 2nd of 6 in a 3100m Vibraye Class F on Sunday. Shoes on this time and backs up with no possible chance

2. JACKPOT DU CHOQUEL – Sanctioned in last 2, most recently a 2875m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago, and with shoes on has no realistic chance

3. JAZZY THOURJAN – Pleasant but unthreatening 4th of 7 in a 2875m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago. Has decent references under these conditions though and will be one to watch

4. JALNA ROBSONS – Won 2 under harness before running 2nd of 9 in a 2850m Carentan Class E a fortnight ago. Has won here twice and even though untried over 2175m, still merits considerable respect

5. JUST BIRD – Has 2 races under his belt since the spell, most recently 4th of 7 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D early last month. Has freshness on his side but others still preferred

6. JAMAICA – Beat JAZZY THOURJAN (3) across town before finishing last of 5 to JEUNE AMI (7) in a 2250m Enghien Class C a month ago. Boasts solid 2175m credentials and should not be overlooked

7. JEUNE AMI – Laid down the law under the saddle at Enghien late-July before winning a 2875m harness Class D at the same venue on 14 August and, reunited with Alexandre Abrivard, will not go down without a fight. Chance

8. JOUR DE FETE – Takes first competitive monté steps after trotting 2nd of 11 in a 2800m Compiègne Class D earlier in the month. Has good speed and will be expected to figure prominently

9. JASON DU CONROY – Solid 4th of 6 in a 2175m Gr.3 here on 17 August. Drops back in category, simply thrives with the Nathalie Henry, and can open his summer account

10. IROKO DU LOIR – Made it 2 on the trot when romping in a 2650m Bordeaux Class D on 19 June. Unseen since but is barefoot with Eric Raffin in the irons again, and is not going to be far off the mark

11. IL TROTTE JARL – A model of consistency in this branch of the business, latterly 3rd of 6 in a 2875m Enghien Class F 2 weeks ago, but races in superior company this time and not a priority

Summary: Following a brace of harness conditioners, JASON DU CONROY (9) stayed on well to come 4th in a Gr.3 over course and distance a fortnight ago and, reunited with Nathalie Henry, can wrap this up. JEUNE AMI (7) opened his monté account at Enghien last month before confirming under harness mid-August and is good enough to pull off the 3-timer. JOUR DE FETE (8) is new to the code but has done enough under harness lately to be considered a player first time out. As good going left-handed as right-, IROKO DU LOIR (10) comes here fresh and barefoot and, although unlikely to secure the hat-trick, can still play a prominent role.

SELECTIONS

C3 – PRIX ATHAMANTIS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 41,000

1. JULIANA DES LUCAS – Sanctioned early in a 2725m Cabourg Class E a week ago. Is useful on a good day but is being aimed too high on this occasion

2. JONQUILLETE CREPIN – Superb in 4 of her last 5, most recently 2nd of 7 in a 2650m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne 3 weeks ago. Is unbeaten with Eric Raffin reining and is not incapable of extending their perfect record

3. JULIA DE MARZY – Hardy mare making first appearance since trotting 3rd of 11 in a 2825m Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche on 24 June. Has never produced the goods at Vincennes and is not about to cause an upset

4. JADE DE TOUCHYVON – Failed to confirm her good Meslay performance when 7th of 11, behind JEEP DE DALINE (10), in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Barefoot for the occasion, with JMB reining, and will generate some interest

5. JUNE D’ERABLE – Serious mare with superb barefoot credentials. Will be fully-fit by now and is not incapable of dominating JOHANA DU GUESCLIN (8)

6. JALAYA DES BROUETS – Has not raced since trotting 4th of 9 in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle on 22 July. Has respectable references over the main track but others still preferred

7. JULIA QUESNOT – 4th of 10 when being conditioned in a 2850m Mauquenchy Class F 3.5 weeks ago. Has decent references when barefoot here and is not about to disappoint

8. JOHANA DU GUESCLIN – 3rd at Enghien last month before coming 5th of 14 in a 3125m Granville Class F 3.5 weeks ago, and can win this if she takes to the new profile

9. JAMAIQUE PAJELO – Raced better in a 2650m Pornichet Class E 8 days ago than her 7th place would suggest. Cannot be considered a leading contender but, with front pads fitted, can get a look-in

10. JEEP DE DALINE – Never far from the action when barefoot, latterly 4th of 11 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Faces a stiffer test on Vincennes debut but should nevertheless acquit herself competitively. First 5

Summary: Decidedly useful at this level of competition, JOHANA DU GUESCLIN (8) races barefoot for the occasion and with Benjamin Rochard reining, can make her Vincennes debut a winning one. She will still encounter resistance from JUNE D’ERABLE (5) who is barefoot following 3 conditioners, and the tough JONQUILLETE CREPIN (2) who went close at Les Sables-d’Olonne  earlier this month. JULIA QUESNOT (7) prepped nicely for this at Mauquenchy and with shoes off this time, must be taken seriously.

SELECTIONS
JOHANA DU GUESCLIN (8) – JUNE D’ERABLE (5) – JONQUILLETE CREPIN (2) – JULIA QUESNOT (7)
C4 – PRIX DIOTIMA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 52,000

1. HELIOS DJEMA – Runner-up in last 2, most recently a 2725m Pornichet Class F 3 weeks ago. Won on his only start with Alexandre Abrivard and deserves to be taken seriously

2. HAMLET DU VIVIER – A beaten 4th to GADSEM (9) in a 2725m Pornichet Class E mid-month. Is plainly in decent shape but will struggle to make much of an impact

3. GAGNANT DE BRIKVIL – Lost his action in a 2725m Pornichet Class E a fortnight ago and appears to have no possible chance

4. HEAD OF STATE – Tough and consistent type that was sanctioned, when going for the hat-trick, in a 2475m Francheville Class F a fortnight ago. Will be expected to bounce back and can return to winning ways

5. GAMINE DE RIBEAU – Has turned a corner recently, latterly winning a 2925m Cagnes Class E with authority 11 days ago. In better company this time but still one to watch

6. HERMES D’ECROVILLE – Pleasantly surprised when winning a 2900m Class F at La Chartre-sur-le-Loir 2 weeks ago but a repeat is most unlikely

7. HARENA DE MARZY – Hard to fault when focused, latterly 3rd to GEDEON DAIRPET (13) in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D 3 weeks ago. Modified shoeing and, with Eric Raffin reining, is not to be underestimated

8. HAZILYS – Made up for her monté sanction when 4th of 10 in a 2550m Cherbourg Class E on 19 August, but will still need to find more

9. GADSEM – Rejuvenated of late, most recently winning a 2725m Pornichet Class E just over a fortnight ago, and with a leading pilot at the helm, can confirm

10. GIGA DES PLAINES – Off the boil for past 5 weeks, latterly 7th of 10 in a 2550m Cherbourg Class E 11 days ago, and can be confidently disregarded

11. GLOUGLOU D’EMI – Left a good impression when 4th of 10 in a 2725m Cabourg Class E 2 weeks ago. Hind shoes off this time and looks a respectable place prospect

12. HASHTAG CHAMANT – Did not enjoy the best of trips when 7th of 11 in a 2850m Class D here 9 days ago. Has no particular appreciation for Vincennes and no more than a minor place chance

13. GEDEON DAIRPET – Tricky sort that won at Châteaubriant before faulting in a 2875m Meslay-du-Maine Class E mid-month. Is clearly in form though and, with application, can mix it up at the finish

Summary: GADSEM (9) showed at Pornichet earlier in the month that he is back at his best; he tends to perform well for Franck Nivard and has a reasonable chance of doubling his money. He will however have to take on the fine HEAD OF STATE (4) who surprisingly lost his action last time, and HARENA DE MARZY (7) who is more competitively-shod than she was at Châteaubriant. GLOUGLOU D’EMI (11) has never won left-handed but is clearly in shape and races unshod-behind for the occasion.

SELECTIONS
GADSEM (9) – HEAD OF STATE (4) – HARENA DE MARZY (7) – GLOUGLOU D’EMI (11)
C5 – PRIX ALGEIBA – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 46,000

1. ROCKY OASIS – Returns to the monté code after 2 fresheners under harness, latterly 6th over 2300m at Mons. Has form over track and trip but will not find this the easiest of tests

2. EMY STECCA – Switches code for first time after coming last but one in a 2150m Enghien harness Class C on 10 July. Disregard

3. ERMES EFFESSE – Italian import debuting under the saddle after being disqualified in a 2875m Enghien harness Gr.3 on 3 August, and has no possible chance

4. KILDARE OF LOVE – Reassuring 3rd, behind KASBAH PERRINE (9), in a 2875m Enghien Class D earlier in the month. Never far from faulting and still needs to find more

5. KADANSE DU CORTA – 5th in Enghien race of reference before faulting early in a 2850m Hyères Class G on 2 August, and others preferred

6. KENIDILLE – Impressive in a 2250m Enghien Class C on 20 July until faulting 50m out, and Benjamin Rochard will be loathe to allow the same thing to happen again. Chance

7. KROME – Makes his first appearance since coming 2nd of 7 in a 2250m Enghien Class C on 20 July. Will be asked to repeat but looks more a minor place chance this time around

8. KAGUYA JIEL – Monté debutante making first appearance since coming last of 9 in a 2875m Enghien harness Class C late-July. Hind shoes off but not a priority

9. KASBAH PERRINE – Went close 2nd of 8 in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 3 August. Is clearly on the way up and is not incapable of winning a race of this nature

10. KLASSICA DESBOIS – Takes first competitive steps under the saddle after coming 5th of 9 in a 2875m Enghien harness Class C on 20 July. Will have had this on her agenda for some time and is unlikely to disappoint

11. KETTY ANGOT – Back under the saddle after finishing 9th of 11 in a 2050m Cabourg harness Class D 2 weeks ago. Drops to a more reasonable monté level and, shod to preference, can finish in the mix

12. KILOU D’YMER – Tricky type that made up for his Enghien blip by winning a 2625m Class F at La Rochelle late last month. Barefoot as he was when winning here last February and, if focused, can confirm

Summary: Well-entered at the limit of earnings, KILOU D’YMER (12) opened his summer account just a month ago, has previously won over course and distance and, barefoot this time, looks a marginally better choice than KENIDILLE (6) who was challenging for the win at Enghien when sanctioned last time out. 4th that day before missing out by little at the same venue a fortnight later, KASBAH PERRINE (9) is a serious proposition once more. New to the discipline, and useful under harness, KLASSICA DESBOIS (10) must be considered a player.

SELECTIONS
KILOU D’YMER (12) – KENIDILLE (6) – KASBAH PERRINE (9) – KLASSICA DESBOIS (10)
C6 – PRIX GISELLA – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 35,000

1. KALINE D’ERABLE – Sanctioned on re-entry a fortnight ago in a 2850m Carentan Class D. Reverts to a proven formula and, with application, can get in on the action

2. KARINE DU DOLLAR – Unshod behind for first time after coming 6th of 7 when prepping for this in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne early-July. Has previously won over course and distance and must be respected

3. KLAMA DE NAVARY – Terrific winner of a 2700m Class F at La Capelle late last month but in this company appears to have too much to do

4. KALISKANA – Yet to get into her stride this term, latterly sanctioned in a 2600m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel 12 days ago. Pads fitted this time but others still easier to trust

5. KALINE D’ERPION – Encouraged at Feurs before coming 8th behind KIRANIE DES NOES (10) in a 2875m Enghien Class E late last month, and will have little to contribute

6. KUBITSA – Last of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class E earlier in the month. Has no love for Vincennes and can be ruled out

7. KEY TO THE HIGHWAY – Solid since returning to competition, most recently 2nd of 12 in a 2150m Class E across town earlier this month, and is plainly close to her race

8. KISS ME JAMINI – 4th of 9 in a 2700m Vittel Class H mid-month. Has previously won for Eric Raffin and it would be foolhardy to write her off

9. KLARISSE – Pleased under harness before coming 4th of 9 in a 2950m Saint-Malo monté Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Barefoot this time and while not a priority, can still get a look-in

10. KIRANIE DES NOES – Caught the eye when 5th of 12 in a 2875m Enghien Class E a month ago and, with different tactics, can play a more prominent part

11. KORONA DU CHIFFRES – Debuts in the capital off the back of a frank 2950m Cagnes Class E success 3.5 weeks ago and will be no pushover if she takes to the new profile

12. KLARA – Good 3rd of 12 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Placed on lone start under these conditions and has the capacity to pick up another cheque

13. KISSES ROYALE – Made up for her sanction at La Capelle with a superb 2850m Mauquenchy Class E victory earlier this month and has every chance of repeating

14. KERIDA BEST – Lacklustre of late, most recently 6th of 11 in a 2600m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 18 August, and can expect to have few takers

15. KEATANA DU METZ – Last but one in a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 23 July. Off the boil for past 12 months and can be passed over

Summary: Although occasionally unfocused, KISSES ROYALE (13) nevertheless keeps on progressing and will take all the beating if she replicates her Mauquenchy performance. That being said, KORONA DU CHIFFRES (11) left quite the impression on the Riviera and still has more to give. KEY TO THE HIGHWAY (7) has twice gone close recently and will get her rewards one of these days. KIRANIE DES NOES (10) raced better at Enghien last time than the result would suggest and looks a possible spoiler.

C7 – PRIX DANAE – 2850m (a2m) – Class R Claiming – Harness – EUR € 18,000

1. HAKA DU RIB – Sanctioned when prepping for this in a 2850m Carentan monté Class E a fortnight ago. Top pilot in the bike and can challenge for a place in the frame if he deigns to stay in stride

2. IVOIRE D’ERPION – Placed under these conditions on claiming debut 2 months ago before trotting 4th of 7 in a 2600m Berck-sur-Mer amateurs Class H on 4 August, and with P-Y Verva reining, looks eminently capable of setting the cat among the pigeons

3. HOGAN DE HOUELLE – Sanctioned, on claiming debut, in a 3475m Agon-Coutainville Class R last Monday, and backs up with hind shoes off and little to contribute

4. HARDI DE LAUMIERE – 7th of 9 in a 2750m Cabourg monté Class F 10 days ago. Here for a change of scenery and can be passed over

5. HORSE DE GRAMMONT – Returns to racing barefoot after trotting a lacklustre 6th of 8 in a Class F over course and distance 9 days ago but still has more to find

6. IT’S EAGLE COGLAIS – Takes a dip back into the claiming division after trotting 6th of 8 in a 2625m Cherbourg Class F 11 days ago. Is proven in this category and could yet make first 5

7. HEQUILEO JIEL – Showed improvement when 5th of 10 in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne 9 days ago. Possesses decent finishing speed and, barefoot this time, will not be sent out at 54/1

8. HORTENSIA DE LARRE – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 2750m Cabourg Class E a fortnight ago. Takes a big dip in category and, with application, can impose for first time in 2 years

9. HEPAX SPEED – Lost his way after securing a double earlier in the summer, latterly 10th of 13 in a 2750m Pornichet Class F 2 weeks ago, and must first get his house in order

10. IPSO DU FER – 4th of 8 in a 2150m Enghien amateurs Class F on 11 August. Has solid claiming credentials and, with Franck Ouvrie reining, can defy the draw and give HORTENSIA DE LARRE (8) something to think about

Summary: Clearly capable but as tricky as they come Sylvain Roger has engaged Eric Raffin to partner HORTENSIA DE LARRE (8) in his first claimer and can win this if he keeps his charge trotting. IPSO DU FER (10) is 25m worse off but he won under these conditions 2 months ago and can do so again. 3rd to him that day [on claiming debut] before running 4th in a provincial conditioner earlier this month, IVOIRE D’ERPION (2) is barefoot and competitively well-in. HAKA DU RIB (1) may not be the easiest of horses to handle but can trot when focused and Yoann Lebourgeois reining will do his prospects no harm.

SELECTIONS

C8 – PRIX DORADO – 2850m (a2m) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000

1. LOVI CADENCE – Sanctioned in a 2175m monté Gr.3 here last weekend. Padded-all-4 this time but still not an obvious choice

2. LINDSTEDT – Sanctioned on return to competition in a 2875m Enghien Class C on 11 August. Is not devoid of ability but, even with hind pads fitted, will not be easy to trust

3. LORD DELO – Quality element making first appearance since winning a 2150m Enghien Class D in early-May and best to hold off

4. LE HAVRE – Made it 3 on the trot when dominating a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Steps up in category but still has the wherewithal to mix it up here. First 5

5. LOUPIAC DE GODREL – Tricky character that came a reassuring 2nd of 7 in a 2700m Class B at Grenade-sur-Garonne mid-month, but has nothing to offer here

6. LUGANO DE LOU – Won last 3 races in which he wasn’t sanctioned, most recently a 2950m Saint-Malo Class D on 7 August and, with application, will be competitive for a podium finish

7. LORD DAIRPET – Winner of his last 2, latterly a 2500m Class D at La Rochelle earlier this month. Unlikely to pull off the hat-trick but can still finish close

8. LATINO PURA VIDA – Returns to racing with pads after faulting in a 2750m Cabourg Class C 2.5 weeks ago. Would be preferred a level down

9. LANCIER DU GOUTIER – Serious future prospect that made it 2 in a row when winning a 2875m Enghien Class D mid-July. Has a lot to give and can secure the 3-timer

10. LAMONT DU DOUET – A different horse when fitted with 4 pads, latterly clinching a 2150m Enghien Class D mid-month and, on grit alone, warrants respect

11. LORD DE BANVILLE – Oddly out of sorts when 6th of 7 in a 2675m Divonne-les-Bains Class C 8 days ago. Entrusted to Eric Raffin for first time and will have his supporters

12. LITTLE KING – Surprise winner of a 2800m Bernay Class B a month ago. Has merit but in this company will have his work cut out

13. LISSANDRO – Facile winner of a 2950m Vichy Class C early-July after having been unlucky in a Gr.3 here a month earlier. Comes here fresh and can confirm

Summary: There looks to be an interesting contest in the making here between JMB’s wonderfully-engaged LISSANDRO (13) who made short work of a Vichy Class C early last month, and Thierry Duvaldestin’s progressive LANCIER DU GOUTIER (9) who makes his Vincennes debut on a hat-trick. LUGANO DE LOU (6) has no left-handed references but rarely disappoints when focused and should appreciate the inner track profile. Like a horse reborn since being fitted with 4 pads, LORD DAIRPET (7) is being aimed higher this time but is not about to let the side down.

4. LUCAS DE TOURNAI – Disqualified in his last three starts, with the latest being at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 18 August. Yet to win and others are preferred

11. LUI DU DONJON – Holding form and was victorious last time out in Class F at Vibraye over 2500m on 15 August. Can follow up

13. L’AMI DANOVER – In good form and was victorious last time out in Class F at La Ferté-Vidame over 2750m on 18 August. Has a place chance

Summary: LEONARDO (12) has impressed in both wins and looks likely to remain unbeaten. The hat trick is on. LODESTAR (9) is improving and can contest the finish once again. LUI DU DONJON (11) is improving and his win last time out did suggest more wins are in the tank. LICORNVERASPERANZA (6) failed last time out but won her penultimate start and is not out of it.

2. KIARA BLUE – Yet to win a race but was runner-up last time out in Class F at Châtelaillon-La Rochelle over 2500m on 29 July. Might play a minor role

3. KALEDA DE LA COUR – Has struggled of late and was unplaced last time out in Class F at Francheville over 2475m on 15 August. Capable of better but others are preferred

4. KARLA MELODY – Disqualified in her last two starts, with the latest being at Carentan on 15 August. Has won three of six starts and deserves the utmost respect

5. KISS ME CRAZY – Unreliable and was 6th last time out in Class D at Vincennes over 2700m on 4 February. Likely to need this run returning from a break

6. KESHUA – Very unreliable but was victorious last time out in Class F at Agon-Coutainville over 3450m on 18 August. Deserves respect for that win

7. KARA DU BELLAY – Unreliable but did run well last time out when runner-up in Class F at Châteaubriant over 2300m on 6 August. Has a place chance
