French Selections Saturday 14th

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PX FEDERAT. FRANCAISE DE LA RECONVERSION – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 52,000

1. KERALDO – 3rd of 8 to KARAMBAR (6) in a Class C over 2850m here 2 weeks ago. Pleased on lone association with Pierre-Yves Verva but still not a top-tier choice

2. KATIM DU GOUTIER – 4th behind KIWI DE TREMONT (9) in a 2175m Class C here 8 days ago, but on this occasion will struggle to repeat

3. KRAKEN CASTELETS – 6th of 7, on return from a break, in 6 September race of reference. Appreciates these conditions, will be less rusty this time, and is unlikely to be far off the mark

4. KEVIN PRINCE – Won over course and distance before running 2nd of 5 over 2100m at Waregem late-June. Is barefoot for re-entry but best to hold off

5. KENO PETTEVINIERE – 5th behind KIWI DE TREMONT (9) in a 2175m Class C here 8 days ago. Placed in 3 of 4 over course and distance though and should not be underestimated

6. KARAMBAR – Has won 3 of 4 Vincennes starts, most recently with ease in a Class C over 2850m 2 weeks ago, and is unlikely to meet much opposition

7. KESITO D’URVILLE – 2nd of 8 in a 2700m Graignes Class B earlier this month. Sports new shoeing, has placed over track and trip, and must be taken seriously

8. KARBONE CASH – 4th of 10 in a 2150m Cagnes Class B on 22 July. Has been on a fine run since the spring, and the engagement of Eric Raffin will do his prospects no harm

9. KIWI DE TREMONT – Beat a number of these when 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2175m Class C here 8 days ago. Reunited with David Thomain and has the wherewithal to apply the pressure on KARAMBAR (6)

Summary: KARAMBAR (6) has done nothing but progress this season and will be expected to confirm his late-August victory. Faithful for the most part, KIWI DE TREMONT (9) would have finished closer here recently had he not briefly shown his spirit, but going barefoot may just be key to opening his 2024 account. Confirmed under these conditions and plainly in form, KESITO D’URVILLE (7) races with just hind shoes for the first time and will be no shrinking violet.

SELECTIONS
KARAMBAR (6) – KIWI DE TREMONT (9) – KESITO D’URVILLE (7) – KRAKEN CASTELETS (3)
C2 – PRIX ASSOCIATION PASSERELLE (PRIX KOZYR) – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Mounted – EUR € 59,000

1. BEAUTIFUL BOY(ITY) – Has not been seen out since coming 9th of 11 in a 2250m harness Class E at Salon-de-Provence late-May. Has decent monté references but is expected to be race-rusty

2. FASHION MAKER – Returns to the capital after coming 3rd of 7 in a 2725m Pornichet Class E on 22 August. In better company this time but the services of Eric Raffin have been employed and must be respected accordingly

3. HORS BORD – Makes first appearance under the saddle after running 11th of 16 in a 2775m Craon Gr.3 earlier this month. Has ample ability though, sports a new formula, and with P-Y Verva in the saddle will be afforded every chance

4. IRINA DE BAILLY – Back under the saddle after finishing 8th of 13 in a 2700m harness Class D at La Capelle 10 days ago. Is undeniably talented but can prove a handful and others easier to trust

5. HELLO JADE RUSH – 2nd of 7 in a 2850m Laval Class E 2 weeks ago. Has been knocking at the door for some time and makes her Vincennes debut with a realistic chance of finishing close

6. GARANCIO BELLO – Left quite the impression, on just 2nd start in the discipline, coming 2nd of 12 in a Class D under these conditions on 21 August. Returns to the venue with morale restored and can make a big splash

7. HURRICANE WAY – 6th behind GARANCIO BELLO (6) in a Class D over course and distance 3.5 weeks ago. Is no slouch on a good day but others still preferred

8. INDY DE JYR – Versatile sort making first monté start since June 2023 after coming 3rd of 16 in a 2775m Craon harness Gr.3 12 days ago. Shoes on this time but can still wrap this up

9. GOLO KANTE – Failed to live up to expectations when 5th behind GARANCIO BELLO (6) in a Class D over course and distance 3.5 weeks ago. Is considerably better than that though and Paul Ploquin will be eager to set the record straight

10. FROZEN QUEEN – 6th of 11 in a 2175m Class D here a week ago. Has placed just once in 5 under the saddle and is not about to spring a surprise

Summary: INDY DE JYR (8) may not have been seen under the saddle for 15 months but he has solid references under these conditions and, even going shod this time, looks every part the winner. Leading the opposition charge, GARANCIO BELLO (6) produced a fine performance on his recent return to the code and goes barefoot this time, while HELLO JADE RUSH (5) has been skulking in the shadows for the last 1.5 months. GOLO KANTE (9) was unable to convert his Enghien success 3.5 weeks ago here but is still good enough to challenge for a place on the podium.

SELECTIONS
INDY DE JYR (8) – GARANCIO BELLO (6) – HELLO JADE RUSH (5) – GOLO KANTE (9)
C3 – PRIX RMC (PRIX D’AVALLON) – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 60,000

1. IVANA DES RACQUES – Appears to have lost her way, latterly last but one in a 2800m Bernay Class F 3 weeks ago. Jean-Philippe Monclin reining this time and will be worth monitoring

2. DIVA DEL RONCO – Races with front shoes off after finishing a beaten 6th of 13 in a 2850m Class B here 3.5 weeks ago, and even though well-placed in front, still appears to have too much to do

3. DENIA – Missed out by little in a 2150m Enghien Class C before being sent for a spell. Ideally-positioned on the front line, gets on well with Paul Ploquin, and looks the one to beat

4. JOUVENCE DE CAREL – 4th of 9 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class B on 8 August. Has been handed an excellent draw and, with form maintained, can trot her way onto the podium

5. IRINA D’ATOUT – Sanctioned when being prepared for this in a 2900m Dozulé Class F mid-August. Has solid Vincennes references and, with application, can contest the finish

6. IMPERATRICE VITELA – Hard to fault over past 6 months, most recently 2nd of 10 in a 2700m Cagnes Class F a month ago. Comes here fresh and is well-placed to give this a good go. First 5

7. IKYTA DE LA VALLEE – Missed out on a possible double when sanctioned in a 2800m Rambouillet Class D last Sunday. Matthieu Abrivard back in charge and can win this if he keeps her trotting

8. JUNKIE (SWE) – 6th of 7, when being conditioned, in a Class C over 2700m 2 weeks ago. Has previously won under these conditions and racing barefoot will do her chances no harm. Minor place prospect

9. GONNABE SHADOW – Won a Class F at Enghien late-July before coming 9th of 12 in a 2150m Class E at the same venue a month ago. Did not enjoy the best of trips that day and, despite the draw, will be expected to make amends

10. LOADED LEILA – Sanctioned in a 2800m Bernay Class E late last month. Has otherwise taken well to French conditions and the Alexandre Abrivard-factor cannot be ignored

11. CAROLYN FRANCIS – Sanctioned in a 2700m Class C here a fortnight ago. Has shown little liking for the main track and with shoes on will have little to offer

12. DAYTONA DI CECCO – 7th of 14 in a Class D over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Has been off the boil all year and can be ruled out

13. MISS IRMA – 9th of 14 in a Class D over course and distance a fortnight ago, on first start for 12 months, and will need another run

14. JUNGLE GREEN – Quality mare but starts for first time since running 4th of 8 in a 2875m Enghien Class B early-May. Shoes on and no danger

Summary: 4th over course and distance before going close at Enghien, DENIA (3) has not been seen out for 2 months but is barefoot for re-entry and, from the 3-spot, can win this. Paul Ploquin will however be justifiably wary of IKYTA DE LA VALLEE (7) who could well have imposed at Rambouillet had she not faulted, and the better-placed IRINA D’ATOUT (5) who returns to a track she appreciates with a brace of conditioners under her belt. JOUVENCE DE CAREL (4) pleasantly surprised at Enghien last time out and will not be available at 22/1 on this occasion.

SELECTIONS
DENIA (3) – IKYTA DE LA VALLEE (7) – IRINA D’ATOUT (5) – JOUVENCE DE CAREL (4)
C4 – CRITERIUM DES 5 ANS – 3000m (a2m) – Gr1 Race – Harness – EUR € 300,000

1. JOLIE POUPEE – 3rd in Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel at 72/1, followed by 5th to JUSHUA TREE (16) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jockey a fortnight ago, at 128/1. Will not be at the same price this time but is not a contender either

2. JABALPUR – Won 2 in a row across town before finishing 13th of 17 in race of reference. Showed his form that day but others still preferred

3. JOCONDE SIBEY – Showed improvement when 6th of 17, at 62/1, in Gr.2 Prix Jockey a fortnight ago, but not enough to be considered a priority

4. JUST A MIDI – Lacklustre in Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel mid-August before finishing 10th to JUSHUA TREE (16) in race of reference, and will have few friends in the markets

5. JOUMBA DE GUEZ – 6th of 17, at 102/1, in Prix Jockey, on first start since the spell. Will have come on for the run, and goes barefoot this time, but would have a better chance under the saddle

6. JANGO VICI – Ran 6th in Prix Louis Jariel, at 83/1, before coming 2nd to JUSHUA TREE (16) in Prix Jockey, at 72/1. Unlikely to repeat but can still figure prominently

7. JIOSCO DE PHYT’S – Oddly out of sorts when 14th of 17 in Prix Jockey. Thrives with Eric Raffin for the most part, however, and is not incapable of springing a small surprise

8. JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL – Sent for a spell after winning 2850m Gr.2 Prix Albert Demarcq early-May. Has 2 races in him since, most recently runner-up to JUSTIN BOLD (13) in Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel, and may well prove main danger to JUSHUA TREE (16)

9. JASPER DES CHARMES – Won one in each code before coming 4th of 17, at 21/1, in Gr.2 Prix Jockey late last month. Will appreciate a good pace, which he should find here, and can get a look-in

10. JACK TONIC – Has acquitted himself well since the spring, most recently 5th to JUSTIN BOLD (13) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel on 17 August. Will have no issue with the trip, just the exalted quality of the field

11. JOYNER SPORT – 5th of 6 in a 1609m Cagnes Gr.1 3 weeks ago. Has looked very ordinary for some time and has no possible chance

12. J’AIME LE FOOT – Sent for a spell after coming 3rd in Gr.1 Prix de Normandie. 12th of 17 in race of reference, and even going barefoot this time, will have too much to do

13. JUSTIN BOLD – Won Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel before being given an easier race in Prix Jockey, coming 9th of 17. Shod to preference this time and has a reasonable chance of making first 3

14. JOSH POWER – Critérium des 4 Ans winner that ran 3rd to JUSHUA TREE (16) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jockey a fortnight ago. Returns to racing barefoot and will be expected to finish in the mix

15. JUST LOVE YOU – Has looked very ordinary this year, latterly last of 17 in Prix Jockey 2 weeks ago. Races first-time barefoot though and should show a far more competitive side

16. JUSHUA TREE – Made up for Gr.2 Prix Louis Jariel sanction when dominating the 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jockey a fortnight ago, and is quite simply the horse to beat

17. JUST A GIGOLO – Won Gr.2 Critérium de Vitesse de Basse-Normandie at Argentan before coming a disappointing 8th of 17 in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Jockey a fortnight ago, and would be preferred over a shorter trip

Summary: Author of 18 wins from 24 starts, JUSHUA TREE (16) made short work of the Prix Jockey a fortnight ago and, with application, will take all the beating. Leading the opposition is the ever-improving , and reconfigured, JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL (8) who finished a close 2nd in the Prix Louis Jariel, and JOSH POWER (14) who deserves a lot of credit for his latest run. More competitively-shod than he was in the Prix Jockey, JUSTIN BOLD (13) will be no soft touch.

SELECTIONS
JUSHUA TREE (16) – JAZZMAN DEBAILLEUL (8) – JOSH POWER (14) – JUSTIN BOLD (13)
C5 – PRIX PARISTURF (PX DE MOULINS LA MARCHE) – 2850m (a2m) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 75,000

1. HUBBLE DU VIVIER – Has bags of talent but has not been seen out since faulting in a 2850m Laval Gr.3 early-June. Shod for the occasion and poses no threat

2. SELF EXPLOSIVE – 7th of 11 in an 1800m La Capelle Gr.2, on first start since December. Jean-Philippe Monclin in the bike here but chances nevertheless appear limited

3. GIRL DE BASSIERE – Encouraged here 3.5 weeks ago before finishing 7th to GOLD DAIRPET (9) in late-August race of reference. Shod to preference this time but others still preferred

4. HEDIC GEMA – Won 4 from 5 before missing out by little for 5th in a 2775m Craon Gr.3 12 days ago and, in similar form will not be far from the action at the business end of the race

5. GABIANO – Last of 12 in a 2675m Class B at Divonne-les-Bains on 23 August. Shoes on again and others easier to back

6. GRINDELWALD – Out of the picture in all 3 this term , latterly 10th of 12 to GOLD DAIRPET (9) in a Class B over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Is clearly in competition-mode this time and will be competitive for a place in the frame

7. HONKY TONK BLUES – Surprise 3rd of 12 to GOLD DAIRPET (9) in late-August race of reference. Form is not in question and is not incapable of influencing the result

8. FELIX DU BOURG – Won 2 on the trot before coming a disappointing 6th of 14 in a 2925m Cagnes Class B 3 weeks ago. Entrusted to Eric Raffin and should not be too far off the mark

9. GOLD DAIRPET – Made up for his Enghien blip with a 24/1 success in a Class B over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Unlikely to repeat but must still be taken more seriously

10. HANNIBAL TUILERIE – Tenacious winner across town before putting in a good finish to come 4th to GOLD DAIRPET (9) in a Class B over course and distance on 31 August, and has every chance of contesting the finish this time

11. HARLEY GEMA – Should not be too hastily-judged for coming 6th of 9 in a 2875m Enghien Class B early-August. Has never disappointed for Guillaume Martin and is not about to start. Claim

12. FLOREAL – Has done nothing but improve recently, latterly winning a 2925m Cagnes Class A early last month. Boasts solid references over course and distance and must not be overlooked

Summary: Three times a winner this summer, including a Class A under these conditions, HARLEY GEMA (11) did not enjoy the best of trips at Enghien but returns to a track she adores, and just gets the nod ahead of HANNIBAL TUILERIE (10) who put on a very good show here a fortnight ago. HEDIC GEMA (4) has already imposed on 5 occasions this season and drops back in category after a valiant Gr.3 performance on turf at Craon. GRINDELWALD (6) won 2 of her last 3 for Alexnadre Abrivard and, surely at peak fitness by now, will be no pushover.

SELECTIONS

C6 – CRITERIUM DES 3 ANS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Gr1 Race – Harness – EUR € 300,000

1. LUMINOSITY – Put in quite the finish, despite some unsure strides, to run 5th to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux over course and distance late last month and, if more sure of stride, can play an important part

2. LOVE LETTER – Surprise 4th of 11, at 96/1, to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Front pads fitted for the occasion but, against the colts, will struggle to make her mark

3. LAPIS LAZULI – Has done nothing but improve since returning to competition, latterly winning a Class A over course and distance last weekend, but appears to be biting off more than he can chew here

4. LIGHT MY FIRE – Acquitted himself well to come 3rd to LOULOU DE MYE (9) in Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé over course and distance a fortnight ago. Similarly-padded this time but can be considered no more than a minor place prospect

5. LITTLE BROWN – 3rd in Prix Abel Bassigny before finishing 5th of 10 in Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Fitted with 4 pads for first time but unlikely to cause an upset

6. LUCKY JACKSON – 5th in Prix Abel Bassigny before finishing an unthreatening 4th of 10 in Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé over track and trip 2 weeks ago, and will need to raise his game

7. LUTIN DES BORDES – Makes first appearance since coming 2nd of 7 in a monté Gr.1 under these conditions late-June. Has other priorities and can be passed over

8. LARGO DE CASTELLE – Made short work of a valuable Gr.3 over course and distance 3 weeks ago. In much better company this time but can still make his presence felt

9. LOULOU DE MYE – Opened his Gr.2 account with a convincing Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé success, under similar conditions, a fortnight back. Unlikely to beat LOMBOK JIEL (14) again but can still figure prominently

10. LOTTA BOURBON – Winner of Gr.2 Prix Reine du Corta mid-August before coming 2nd to LIZA JOSSELYN (12) in Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux over track and trip 2 weeks ago. Not a priority, and has ground to make up, but worth keeping an eye on

11. LOUISIANE DE BOMO – 3rd to LOTTA BOURBON (10) in Prix Reine du Corta before racing better in Prix Annick Dreux than her 6th of 11 would suggest, and should have a good hand to play. First 5

12. LIZA JOSSELYN – Turned the tables on LOTTA BOURBON (10) when comfortably winning Gr.2 Prix Annick Dreux over course and distance late-August. Has placed under these conditions and is the best chance among the fillies

13. LOVINO BELLO – Won an Enghien Gr.3 over a mile before running 2nd to LOMBOK JIEL (14) in Gr.2 Prix Abel Bassigny mid-August. Twice a course-and-distance winner in this configuration and, with Eric Raffin reining, can bring home the bacon

14. LOMBOK JIEL – Classy colt that missed out by little on the hat-trick when 2nd to LOULOU DE MYE (9) in Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé over course and distance 2 weeks ago, but sports 4 pads this time and can put things right

15. LUCIANO MENUET – Runner-up to LARGO DE CASTELLE (8) in a Gr.3 over course and distance before a never-threatening 7th of 10 in Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé under similar conditions a fortnight back. 4 pads fitted and is one to watch

Summary: Simply remarkable since the spring, LOMBOK JIEL (14) did not miss out by much in the Gr.2 Prix Jacques de Vaulogé a fortnight ago and, fitted with 4 pads, just as he was when triumphant the Gr.1 Prix Albert Viel, he has a reasonable chance of imposing. Pierre-Yves Verva will unsurprisingly be keeping a watchful eye on a padded LOVINO BELLO (13) who has been most impressive with shoes on recently, and a similarly-padded LIZA JOSSELYN (12) who secured the coveted Prix Annick Dreux 2 weeks ago. LOULOU DE MYE (9) was a deserving winner of the Jacques de Vaulogé and merits considerable respect.

SELECTIONS

C7 – CRITERIUM DES 4 ANS – 2850m (a2m) –  – Harness – EUR € 300,000

1. KILLER QUEEN – Close 3rd of 12, at 29/1, in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston de Wazières 2 weeks ago, on first appearance at this level, but bites off more than she can chew this time

2. KEMIA DU CHENE – Finished 5th and 4th respectively in both fillies’ races of reference. JMB engaged for the occasion but is otherwise not easy to make a case

3. KANTO AVIS – Showed a different side to himself late last month when 4th to KATAKI DE WALLIS (9) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston Brunet late-August, but in this class, can be confidently ruled out

4. KAPORAL DES FORGES – Surprise 3rd of 10, at 42/1, in 2700m Prix Gaston Brunet a fortnight ago, however a repeat looks most improbable

5. KAVIARISSIME – Disappointing at Enghien early-August before finishing an unthreatening, but pleasant, 7th of 10 in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston Brunet 2 weeks ago, and will have his supporters

6. KHAL’S FELLA – 5th of 10 in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston Brunet a fortnight ago and is quite simply out of his league

7. KEEN WINNER – Showed marked improvement on 2nd start back, dominating 2175m Gr.2 Prix Paul Leguerney mid-August. Has yet to show her limits, and winning a maiden Gr.1 is well within her reach

8. KELLE BEAUTE – Sanctioned when full of running in Prix Paul Leguerney, before missing out by little to KANA DE BEYLEV (17) in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston de Wazières a fortnight ago, but others easier to trust

9. KATAKI DE WALLIS – Hard to fault when focused and with front pads fitted, which he showed when winning 2700m Prix Gaston Brunet late-August. Takes on a tougher bunch this time but should nonetheless be good enough to hold his own

10. KARLITO – Close 2nd of 9 in Gr.2 Prix Phaeton on 17 August before coming last of 10 [when shod] in Prix Gaston Brunet 2 weeks ago. Shoes off this time and, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining, should figure prominently

11. KEEP GOING – Hard to knock lately, most recently 3rd to KRISTAL JOSSELYN (15) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Phaeton mid-August. Failed to deliver on lone start at this level but getting an Eric Raffin drive this time will do his prospects no harm

12. KATINKA DU MOUCHEL – Has not been seen out since trotting 3rd to KEEN WINNER (7) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Paul Leguerney on 17 August. Goes first-time barefoot but may first need the run

13. KSAR – 5th here mid-August before coming in 8th of 10 in 2700m Prix Gaston Brunet a fortnight later. Has endured a litany of bad luck but is barefoot for the occasion and can put all that to bed. Chance

14. KING OPERA – 6th in Prix Phaeton before repeating in 2700m Prix Gaston Brunet 2 weeks later. Is better than that though and reverts to a previous formula with a decent chance of making first 5

15. KRISTAL JOSSELYN – Sprang an 18/1 surprise when winning 2175m Prix Phaeton on 17 August. Franck Nivard in the bike this time but others still easier to back

16. KRACK TIME ATOUT – Oddly lacklustre 9th of 10 in 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston Brunet late last month but nevertheless remains the classiest colt in the field and can make this his own

17. KANA DE BEYLEV – 4th to KEEN WINNER (7) in Gr.2 Prix Paul Leguerney before clinching 2700m Gr.2 Prix Gaston de Wazières a fortnight ago. In company of the boys this time but can still pick up a cheque

18. KOCTEL DU DAIN – 4th to KRISTAL JOSSELYN (15) in 2175m Gr.2 Prix Phaeton before running 2nd to KATAKI DE WALLIS (9) in in 2700m Prix Gaston Brunet last month. Is better than both though and, in current form, will be no easy touch

Summary: Promising at 3, KEEN WINNER (7) has taken her game to a new level in 2024 and, having made short work of the Gr.2 Prix Paul Leguerney, takes on the colts with every chance of repeating. That being said, KRACK TIME ATOUT (16) has nothing to prove at this level and his recent clinker can be relegated to the history books. Lady Luck has not been the kindest to KSAR (13) lately but Matthieu Abrivard has opted to race him barefoot as he was behind Paul Ploquin’s horse in the Gr.1 Prix Ourasi earlier in the year. The richest horse in the field, KOCTEL DU DAIN (18), deserves to win this summer and David Thomain will be eager to put things right.

SELECTIONS

C8 – PRIX CITIZEN KID (PRIX DE DENAIN) – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000

1. HARIA DU BELLAY – Sanctioned at Le Mans before finishing 10th of 13 in a 2150m Enghien Class B early-August. Has the inside line but still not easy to make a case

2. GO GO GIGI – Back under harness after coming 7th of 9 in a 2875m Enghien monté Class D early-July. Disregard

3. GEOLE DE LA TOUQUE – 4th of 14, on return to competition, in a 2650m Laval Class D 3 weeks ago. Will have progressed for the run and is unlikely to disappoint. Chance

4. HARMONY DU RABUTIN – Appears to have lost nothing following her extensive layoff, latterly winning a 2775m Lignières Class D late-July, and looks a serious proposition once more

5. FEEL SMART – Races barefoot after finishing 12th of 13 in a 2700m Class D at La Capelle 10 days ago and is clearly out of her depth

6. HIGH PROPULSION – 12th of 14, when preparing for this in a 2850m Laval Class D late last month. Has never disappointed over 2100m here, or with Eric Raffin in the bike, and will be expected to take all the beating

7. BANGLA D’ESI – 4th of 11, on 2nd start back, in a 2850m Class D here 3.5 weeks ago. Is plainly on the way back up and her record under these conditions speaks for itself

8. HAILEY D’OURVILLE – Has not put a foot wrong over last month, latterly 2nd of 11 in a 2400m Amiens Class D last Saturday. Starts wide but has pleased in 2 of 3 under these conditions and is not to be underestimated

9. GOLDEN GRACE – Last but one in a 2650m Laval Class D 3 weeks ago. Disappointing on the whole since the spring and can be passed over

10. HAIDA SAUTONNE – Would have finished in the money had she not faulted in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle 2.5 weeks ago. Is plainly in form, has won 2 of 3 over course and distance, but can expect to find the going a bit tougher

11. HAZILYS – Pleasantly surprising 4th of 11 in a 2700m Class E here late last month. In better company on this occasion though and chances limited

12. GIRLY VICTORY – Imposed at La Capelle late-August before coming 3rd of 6 in a 2700m Class F at the same venue last Sunday, and in this category, will struggle to make her presence felt

13. HARENA DE MARZY – 5th of 11, a place behind HAZILYS (11), in a 2700m Class E here a fortnight ago. Is clearly enjoying decent form, has been entrusted to David Thomain, and must not be ignored

14. GIANA DE MARZY – Fine 2nd of 14 in a Class E over course and distance last weekend. Is plainly close to his race but, in this company, looks more a minor place prospect

15. HACIENDA – Ran 2nd at Bernay before winning a 2725m Graignes Class E 12 days ago. Races barefoot but takes on a better bunch this time and the draw does nothing to help her cause

Summary: A tough nut to crack at the best of times, HIGH PROPULSION (6) simply excels for Eric Raffin and is sufficiently well-placed behind the car to win this. Better-positioned on the front row, GEOLE DE LA TOUQUE (3) showed marked improvement on her first start for Charley Mottier and looks a more serious proposition this time around. BANGLA D’ESI (7) has returned to competition in fine shape and will be at peak fitness by now. C9 – PRIX DE DORMANS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 53,000

1. KID DES MOLLES – Modest 5th behind JOKER DE FROULAY (11) in a 2875m Enghien Class D on 10 August. Is in decent shape but still has more to find

2. KANTHABELLA – Takes a dip in category after being trounced, last of 6, in a Gr.2 over course and distance 8 days ago and, even in this category and newly-reconfigured, has no possible chance

3. KELVALSE CASTELETS – In the frame in last 2, latterly 2nd of 5 finishers in a 2250m Enghien Class C late-July. Comes here fresh and, reverting to a previous formula, looks competitively well-in

4. JOKER DU HAMEL – Made up for his Carentan sanction when 3rd to JET MESLOIS (12) in a Class D over course and distance on 5 September, but is shod this time and a repeat seems improbable

5. KISS ME BOURBON – 10th of 12 in a 2700m harness Gr.2 here late last month. Won on monté debut, with hind shoes off, and with application can get a look-in

6. JALNA ROBSONS – Unremarkable 4th of 9 in a 2175m Class C here a fortnight ago and can expect to find this a stiffer test

7. JABLO DU CHENE – Secured the 3-timer 2.5 weeks ago, winning a 2950m Vichy Class G with authority. Clearly better racing right-handed but in present form, is easy to like for a first-5 cheque

8. JAMBIER D’OURVILLE – Sanctioned when being prepared for this in a 3000m Châteaubriant harness Class D last weekend. Has demonstrated excellent aptitude for the discipline and must be considered a contender

9. JUNIOR BERDIERE – Sent for a break after faulting in a 2850m Class B here 3 months ago. Has previously imposed under these conditions and, barefoot for comeback, will be worth keeping an eye on

10. JUST TO BE STRYCK – Last of 10 in a 2925m Cagnes harness Class A, when being conditioned, late last month. Won his last 4 monté races and returns to the code with a realistic chance of extending his winning streak

11. JOKER DE FROULAY – Promoted to 3rd of 6 in a 2175m Gr.3 here on 17 August. Consistently gives everything he has and can give this a good go. Place chance

12. JET MESLOIS – Made it 2 in a row when dominating a Class D over course and distance earlier this month. Excels with Eric Raffin and can put an end to the supremacy of JUST TO BE STRYCK (10)

Summary: Following a trio of harness conditioners, JUST TO BE STRYCK (10) returns to his discipline of preference, sporting a new configuration, with Alexandre Abrivard onboard, and given his record under these conditions, looks a marginally better option than the reinvigorated JET MESLOIS (12) who is on a metropolitan hat-trick. Lurking over recent weeks, JOKER DE FROULAY (11) acquitted himself well in a Gr.3 here mid-August and, barefoot for the occasion, can fight out the finish. Barring his recent sanction, JAMBIER D’OURVILLE (8) has been enjoying a fruitful run of form and, barefoot this time, can figure prominently.
