8. SPANISH BREEZE CEN – Dam won twice over 2000m/2200m and this colt could be one to keep an eye on. Follow the market

Summary: STARLORD (2) was a clear 2nd best on debut but would have tightened up a great deal from that run and with the step up in trip set to suit, he will go close. The biggest threat is likely to emerge from DROPSHOT (6) who ran a cracker on debut and will take a step forward from one run to the next. GOLDEN BROWN (1) has produced three pleasing efforts to date and will be in the firing line. INSPIRED IDEA (3) is better than his last and can get involved.

Summary: SUPER ALEX (4) produced a cracking effort last time out and looks ready to run a similar type of race which will see him threatening. GUINESS STAR (12) has been super consistent in his short career thus far and could be rewarded with another victory with a bit of luck in running. MANDALORIAN (1) has to concede weight all round but has the right form to pose a big challenge. MASSIMO (14) has won twice from his last four starts and is likely to be a threat once again.

Summary: GINGER ALE (5) was just touched off on debut but would have learnt a lot with that run under the belt and could get the job done. MAHASEN (2) finished 3rd in a race that has worked out and is likely to play a strong hand in the finish. D’ORES ET DEJA (1) produced a very encouraging debut effort and will have more to offer.  BLOWN BY THE WIND (4) was right in the hunt on her first day at school and will pose a big threat. This looks to be a relatively hot maiden and one to watch going forward.

Summary: HOT SUMMER (2) showed very good improvement last time out when just finding one to good and with a repeat effort, he should be involved at the finish. ZOUBAREVA (1) has had a number of chances to get it right but continues to remain of interest given his consistency and with a bit of luck, he could have his day to shine. SELECTIONS

C5 – PRIX DE LA MONTIGNETTE – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 27,000

2. AWJ – 5th last time, 2nd before that over 1400m on August 4th at San Sebastian (ESP). Others preferred

10. DOCTEUR SAFI – Won a handicap over course and distance last time on September 7th. More to do under a penalty but has place claims

Summary: LA FERVEUR (1) can get off the mark on her first run in a handicap. She drops back in trip this time but showed plenty of speed in her previous races. Her main threat could be DESERT ROSE (6) who was second at this track earlier this month when narrowly beaten by DOCTEUR SAFI (10). On better terms today she can play a lead role. EYWA (9) looks like a safe option for the each-way backers to latch on to. FAR BEYOND (8) heads the remainder.

16. MON SIOUX – Two unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 1800m in a Class 3 handicap on June 28th at Clairefontaine. Not ideally drawn in stall 15

She had solid form before that pleasing effort and holds leading claims to get off the mark in this. TOPY’SIM (2) could be the one to make life difficult for the selection. She showed nice ability on her debut when fourth and can improve. QUENDRESA (3) was a tad below par last time but can make the top three. SIYOUNI FLASH (12) has a nice profile and could be anything.

1. IDEAL DE SASSY – 3rd of 10 in a 2800m Vire Class E 3 weeks ago. Proved his left-handed credentials mid-July and looks a serious proposition

2. IPSOS DE BANVILLE – 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne a month ago. Has hardly put a foot wrong all season and, from the 2-spot, will be competitive for the win

3. INVICTUS D’ECAJEUL – Disappointing of late, latterly 7th of 14 in a 2950m Le Mans amateurs Class F earlier in the month and, despite the draw and modified shoeing, can be ruled out

4. IQUEM D’AMER – Failed to confirm his Montier-en-Der performance when 8th of 14 in a 2775m Craon Class E early this month. Reverts to a previous formula though, breaks from the 4-spot, is confirmed here, and must be taken seriously

5. IRON SPIRIT – Earned his victory in a 2550m Dieppe Class F 10 days ago. Takes on a better lot this time but is well-placed on front line and will generate some interest

6. IRIS INTENSE – Made it 4 sanctions from last 5starts  when faulting in a 2700m Thouars Class H mid-month. Is not devoid of talent, sports front pads this time and, with application, will not be far off the mark

7. IDEFIX DHELPA – Won at Agon before coming 4th of 10 in a 2800m Moulins Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Not ideally-drawn but benefits from an entry-made-in-heaven and can open his Laval account

8. IROCCO DE VIETTE – Close 2nd of 6 in a 2525m Cavaillon Class E just last week. Sports a fresh configuration for Laval debut and in current form will be no pushover

9. I KEEP CALM – Pleasant 5th of 11 in a 2650m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne 3 weeks ago. Not as sharp since winning over course and distance during the spring, but still merits respect

10. IOUP LA BOUM – Off the boil since late-July, most recently last but one in a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys mid-month, and chances slim

11. ILLICO PHEDO – Made it 4 on the trot when victorious in a 2800m Tours Class E 3.5 weeks ago. In better company this time and with shoes on, can be passed over

12. IT’S PAT – Debuts at the venue after finishing a disappointing 8th of 14 in a 2650m Alençon Class E on 1 September, and the draw only compounds matters

13. IZAAC D’HAVAROCHE – Trounced here mid-month before finishing 11th of 13 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F last weekend, and has no possible chance

Summary: Just €200 shy of elimination, IDEFIX DHELPA (7) has been in cracking form this term and looks a serious candidate for success this time. He nevertheless faces a stiff test against the similarly consistent IDEAL DE SASSY (1), and the reconfigured IROCCO DE VIETTE (8) who missed out by the smallest of margins at Cavaillon. IPSOS DE BANVILLE (2) may have little love for Laval but his form is sure and Tom Beauvais will appreciate the draw.

1. JADESKA – Below-par in last 2, latterly 7th of 12 in a 2550m Dieppe Class E 3.5 weeks ago. Has neither delivered nor flopped at Laval but cannot be considered more than a minor place prospect

2. JIFF LINE – Not the most convincing over recent weeks, latterly unplaced in a 2600m Landivisiau Class F on 1 September, but is well-positioned, with Yoann Lebourgeois reining and, even with front pads fitted, can make first 5

3. JAZZ MELODY – Returns to racing barefoot after finishing last but one in a 2150m Vichy Class E last Saturday. Matthieu Abrivard in the bike this time and will endeavour to make good on his draw

4. JUSTE PARFAITE – Endured some misfortune at Caen last week when 7th of 14 in a 2200m Class E. Franck Nivard reining this time and, ideally-placed behind the car, must be regarded a leading consideration

5. JESSY DE DAUX – 12th of 14 in a 2200m Caen Class E last week. Sports a revised configuration but still has no possible chance

6. J’Y PENSE – 5th of 11 finishers in a Class E over course and distance 10 days ago. Has decent references under these conditions and from the front row, can give this a good go. Place prospect

7. JALNA DU BUISSON – Last of 9, on return to competition, in a 3000m Châteaubriant Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Seldom disappoints for Eric Raffin and barefoot for the occasion looks a live chance

8. JASMINE DU MAXFRAN – Met no opposition in a 2725m Graignes Class F on 2 September. Could have wished for a better draw but with David Thomain reining, has a realistic chance of doubling her money

9. JAVA DE LANGERON – Last of 14 in Caen race of reference. A complete write-off this summer and has nothing to contribute

10. JOLIE TEJY – Never dangerous 8th of 14, a place behind JUSTE PARFAITE (4), in a 2200m Caen Class E last week. Starts again on back line and could get a look-in if Christophe Chalon keeps her out of trouble

11. JOY PERRINE – 8th of 11, on first start back, in a 2825m Chartres Class F a fortnight ago. Has other priorities and can be passed over

12. JAZERANE – Twice out of the picture after winning early last month, most recently last but one in a 3200m Vannes Class F last weekend, and can be disregarded

13. JOCONDE DE L’AUMOY – Failed to confirm her victory at Le Sap when last of 9 finishers in a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys mid-month, and will have few friends

Summary: Easy winner of her first seasonal objective earlier in the month, JASMINE DU MAXFRAN (8) goes barefoot again and with David Thomain back in the bike, can repeat. She will however be up against the erratic but useful JALNA DU BUISSON (7) who races barefoot and is reunited with Eric Raffin, and the reconfigured and well-positioned JUSTE PARFAITE (4) who did not enjoy the best of trips at Caen recently. J’Y PENSE (6) has previously won when shod here and should again prove competitive for a place on the podium.

1. JUGEMENT D’AVE – Fine trotter that was very unlucky at Vire 3 weeks ago, finishing last but one in a 2800m Class E. Has been knocking at the door since June and makes his Laval debut with a realistic chance of imposing

2. JEUDI DES RACQUES – Sanctioned in a 2150m Vichy Class E last Saturday, on 2nd start since the spell. Fitted with pads this time but still not an obvious choice

3. JOYAU BLUE – Rewarded with victory in a 2800m Langon Class F last Saturday. Steps up in category but Benjamin Rochard takes over the reins and is ideally-placed to confirm

4. JAMSHIR – Reassuring 3rd of 8 in a 2175m Vincennes Class E a fortnight ago. Dependability not his strong suit but, with form maintained, can again figure prominently

5. JOYAU DU RIB – Ran 3rd at Cabourg before dominating a 2725m Graignes Class F on 2 September. Excellent since starting to race in current configuration and will have ambitions on a podium place

6. JOSS CAPELLO – Has not been seen out since faulting early in a 3000m Châteaubriant Class E 4 months ago. Shoes on for re-entry and best to wait

7. JIM CADE – 8th of 16 in a 2550m Dieppe Class E last week. Is confirmed in this category and the Eric Raffin-factor cannot be ignored

8. JACKSON HAUFOR – Laval-loving type making first appearance since coming 5th of 11 in a Class E over course and distance mid-June. Shoes on however and will not be given a hard race

9. JOKER DU LYS – Sanctioned in last 2, latterly a 3200m Class F at Blain-Bouvron-Le Gâvre last Sunday. Has yet to deliver at Laval but boasts decent left-handed credentials and with Anthony Barrier reining can start to make amends

10. JERRY DE L’ERDRE – Returned to victorious ways 3 weeks ago, securing a 2650m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne. Races shod this time though and best to hold off

11. JERSEY STYLE – Sanctioned in last 3, most recently a 2200m Agon monté Class F early last month. Has other priorities and can be ignored

Summary: The main protagonists find themselves well-positioned on the front line here, but two in particular stand out. In cracking form, JUGEMENT D’AVE (1) was very unlucky at Vire and if Yoann Lebourgeois keeps him out of trouble, he should just have the measure of the better-positioned JOYAU BLUE (3) who has hardly put a foot wrong since May. Pleasant 3rd at Vincennes earlier this month, JAMSHIR (4) will have his chances, as should the reinvigorated JOYAU DU RIB (5) who opened his 2024 account at Graignes last time out.

3. ILAYA – Placed at Le Mans before winning a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel, with authority, 2.5 weeks ago. Placed here in the spring and should be good enough to contest the finish

4. FURIEUSE PURPLE – Honourable 5th of 14 in a Class D over course and distance late last month. Boasts solid Laval references but is in more elevated company this time and chances limited

5. EDELWEISS PAULCA – Previously a good sort but has not been seen out since finishing 8th of 10 in a 2850m Vincennes monté Class D last December, and will need the run

6. HINDEN – Modest type that could manage no closer than 6th of 8 in a 4275m Vichy amateurs Class D mid-month and, even with modified shoeing, will again have too much to do

7. GOLDEN VISAIS – Off the boil lately, most recently 8th of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B on 31 August. Modified shoeing this time but must first reaffirm his credentials

8. HASUR DAIRPET – Makes just 3rd appearance at the venue after coming a reassuring 3rd to HASARD D’ERABLE (16) in a 2750m Cabourg Class D late last month. Placed in 1 of 2 here and, in current condition, will have a good hand to play

9. HULYSSE DIGEO – 7th of 12, 2 places behind HASARD D’ERABLE (16), in a 2850m Vincennes Class D 2 weeks ago. Always gives his best and should not be too far from the action

10. INSHOT JOSSELYN – Quality element making first appearance since finishing last of 11 in a 3025m Eauze Class D early-July. Is effective in the day’s configuration and looks an interesting outsider

11. HOCHE – Has taken his game to another level since starting to race in the day’s configuration, latterly dominating a 2750m Cabourg Class D early-August. Has freshness on his side and can make this his own

12. HABIT DE SOIREE – Wonderfully-consistent sort that ran 2nd of 13 in a 2700m Class D at La Capelle 3 weeks ago and will be expected to bring the fight to HOCHE (11)

13. EQUEJUELO – Drops back in category after finishing last of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes Class C a month back and is not about to improve much on that

14. GIANINA BELLA – Honourable 8th of 15 in a 2950m Le Mans Gr.3 earlier this month. Will not be available at 73/1 this time and, with form maintained, could prove something of a spoiler

15. HERMINE GIRL – Disappointing in both codes all season, latterly 10th of 15, behind GIANINA BELLA (14), in a 2950m Le Mans Gr.3 a fortnight ago. Eric Raffin drafted in for first time but is unlikely to spring a massive surprise

16. HASARD D’ERABLE – Won over 2750m at Cabourg before finishing a pleasant 5th of 12 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a fortnight ago. Won here in this configuration in May and will be expected to play an active role

Summary: On quite the run of form since the spring, HOCHE (11) returns to Laval on a hat-trick and, similarly-shod, has every chance of pulling it off. It will not be all plain sailing for François Lagadeuc though considering how well the Laval-loving HABIT DE SOIREE (12) has been comporting himself recently. HASUR DAIRPET (8) is clearly back on the right road and should be able to turn the tables on HASARD D’ERABLE (16) who had his measure at Cabourg late last month.

C5 – PRIX TALICIA BELLA – 2850m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. KEEP IT COOL – Lost her maiden status at Redon on 1 September but finished last of 8 in a 3100m Nort-sur-Erdre Class E 2 weeks later, and can be ruled out

2. KABYLIE DE BOMO – Reassured somewhat when 5th of 12 in a 2000m Rambouillet Class E 2.5 weeks ago, but still looks out of her depth

3. KISS ME DU BOULAY – Unraced since finishing 5th of 8 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F on 11 July. Sports a new configuration for return to a track where she has already been successful, and will have her supporters

4. KALANSKA – Sanctioned, on return from a break, in a 2550m Dieppe Class E 10 days ago. Has otherwise decent barefoot references and should not be entirely discounted

5. KING DE L’ORMERIE – Kicked the summer off well but has since lost his way, most recently sanctioned in a 2550m Dieppe Class E 10 days ago, and others easier to support

6. KALINA LOVE – Fitted with 4 pads for first time after missing out by little in a 2000m Rambouillet Class F mid-month. Matthieu Abrivard has kept the faith and will again be expected to play an important role

7. KAOS DE LA COTE – Has shown the limits of his capacity recently, last time finishing 10th of 11 in a 2000m Rambouillet Class E 2.5 weeks ago, and already looks an also-ran

8. KOVES DU PONT – Complicated but talented sort starting for first time since faulting in a 2700m Vincennes Class D in February and with shoes on will have nothing to contribute

9. KLIF DE LA MITRIE – Races unshod behind for first time, with Yoann Lebourgeois in the bike, after finishing 9th of 11 in a Class E over course and distance 10 days ago, and still not a priority

10. KING DE CHOISEL – Promising type making first appearance since coming 5th of 11 in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E in early-June. Shoes on and best to hold off

11. KARINA JOSSELYN – Sanctioned, when in decent shape late last month, in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne. Not once out of first 3 when applied though and on good behaviour will have ambitions on a place cheque

12. KALIFORNIE – Returns to racing left-handed after coming 5th of 10 in a 2475m Royan Class E a month back. Is better than her numbers would suggest and is not to be underestimated

13. KEY WEST DE CHENU – Has done nothing noteworthy since returning from her spring break, latterly last of 7 in a 2875m Meslay Class E mid-August, and even racing barefoot, will have few friends

14. KSAR D’ESSARTS – Sanctioned after imposing at Agon but reassured at Graignes on 22 August when 3rd of 10 in a 2700m Class F. Steps up in category but, with application, will be an important consideration

15. KARTE DE HOUELLE – Failed to confirm her Thouars victory when sanctioned in a 3100m Class E at Nort-sur-Erdre mid-month. Is reunited with the driver who imposed with her that day and can start to put things right

16. KONG DODVILLE – Successful in 3 of 4, latterly winning a 2725m Pornichet Class F, in good order, on 11 July. Enjoys a superb entry here and Eric Raffin will not be letting this golden opportunity slip by

Summary: Winner here before repeating at Pornichet 8 days later, KONG DODVILLE (16) has not been seen out since early-July but is barefoot for the occasion, unbeaten with Eric Raffin reining, and looks set to pull off his first hat-trick. Leading the opposition is KSAR D’ESSARTS (14) who reassured at Graignes last time out, and a shod KARINA JOSSELYN (11) who will be hard to counter if Arnaud Chavatte keeps her trotting. KARTE DE HOUELLE (15) may be short on reliability, but not ability, and will have an active part to play if Benjamin Rochard manages to keep her focused.

SELECTIONS

C6 – PRIX CREDIT MUTUEL – 2850m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 21,000

1. LA MOME DE CAHOT – Won at Rochefort-sur-Loire before running 4th of 8 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class F mid-August. Comes here fresh, with a leading driver at the helm, and will not go down easily

2. L’ULKA DI LEONE – In the frame in 3 of 4 starts, most recently 3rd of 9 in a 2800m Chartres Class E 2 weeks ago. Is plainly close to her race and will be competitive at the business end of affairs

3. LOVE PROFUSION – Surprisingly-lacklustre 7th of 9, behind L’ULKA DI LEONE (2), in a 2800m Chartres Class E 2 weeks ago. Is not devoid of ability but on this occasion it is hard to make a case

4. LOYALTY – Lost her maiden status in a 2750m Class F at La Ferté-Vidame early last month. Has had time to recalibrate and will not be far off the mark if she takes to the new conditions

5. LADY BIRD JENILAT – Lost her maiden status at Les Sables-d’Olonne before running 6th of 9 in a 2725m Pornichet Class E on 22 August, and seems to have a mountain to climb

6. LA BOHEME VERTE – Has been struggling lately, most recently sanctioned in a 2400m Nort-sur-Erdre Class E mid-month, and can be confidently disregarded

7. LEXIE D’ERONVILLE – Went into her summer break after getting off the mark, and just 12 days ago ran 4th of 10, on comeback, in a 2550m Dieppe Class F. Would be preferred a level down however

8. LEA MADRIK – Won over track and trip a month ago but sanctioned when never dangerous in a Class E under similar conditions 10 days ago, and others easier to trust

9. LOVELY JIM – Won first time out before coming 3rd of 12 in a 2675m Lisieux Class F early-July. Has not been seen out since but will have been prepared for this and can play a leading role

10. L’OCEANE – Sanctioned in a 2100m Châteauroux Class E mid-month and, in this field, will have nothing to offer

11. LADY DES ARRIS – Won a 2000m Rambouillet Class F mid-month, on first start back. Is proven here and although in better company, still has the wherewithal to make her presence felt

12. LADY DU COUDOU – Sports pads for first time after trotting 4th of 8 in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle 2 weeks ago, but in this company will have too much to do

13. LOKA LOKA – Promising future trotter that has done everything asked of her so far. Faces a tougher test, and goes first-time clockwise, this time around but has shown enough potential to impose

14. LINDY D’OURVILLE – Unremarkable filly that finished last of 9, behind L’ULKA DI LEONE (2), in a 2800m Chartres Class E 2 weeks ago, and appears to have little to contribute

15. LECTURE PRIVEE – Produced 3 good performances before coming last of 7 in a 2400m Nort-sur-Erdre Class E mid-month. Should not be too hastily-judged and Benjamin Rochard will be eager to put things right

16. LIBERTY FRECA – 2nd of 11 in a Class F over course and distance 3 weeks ago, but takes a big step up in category and chances limited

Summary: Winner on debut before running 2nd a month later, LOKA LOKA (13) takes her first competitive steps on a hard surface and should be good enough to win a race of this nature. Charles Dreux will be justifiably wary of the progressive LOVELY JIM (9) who will be dangerous if she turns, and L’ULKA DI LEONE (2) who pleased here before confirming a fortnight ago. LA MOME DE CAHOT (1) samples the delights of Caen with Yoann Lebourgeois reining and will be no easy touch.

C7 – PRIX MAINE FRUIT – 2050m (a1m1/4) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 15,000

1. MILLION DREAMS – Qualified modestly and confirmed on debut mid-month when 6th of 9 in a 2225 Moulins Class G, and is not expected to shake things up

2. MONTEQUILLO – Well-related colt that finished last of 7, a place behind MISTER SALTOR (6), in a 2650m Alençon Class F earlier in the month. Switches to a hard surface, is well-drawn, and will be expected to show marked improvement

3. MIMI RAUDIERE – Left a good impression in qualification before running 6th of 12, first time out, in a 2000m Rambouillet Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Will have come on for the race and, from the 3-spot, looks a moderate prospect

4. MILKA LIO – Disappointing in all 3 starts to date, most recently 7th of 9 in a 2225m Moulins Class G mid-month, and has no possible chance

5. MILANO NELLIERE – Continued his disappointing form, most recently finishing 7th of 12, behind MIMI RAUDIERE (3), in a 2000m Rambouillet Class E earlier in the month, and can be passed over

6. MISTER SALTOR – Unremarkable 6th of 7 in a 2650m Alençon Class F early-September. Starts in front but is not about to influence the outcome

7. MOTTEAUX DAIRPET – Failed to capitalise on his fine qualification when faulting, coming last but one, in a 2200m Caen Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Is clearly talented and changing direction may be just the ticket. Chance

8. MELBA DU GERS – Smartly-bred filly making career debut after having qualified in 1’19″1 early-May [alongside a good Duvaldestin filly that won well first time out] and if as good in competition, can get straight down to business

9. MAESTRO JAMINI – Nicely-bred colt that qualified in 1’18″4 at Meslay early-June. Has had time to get race-ready and makes his career debut with legitimate ambition

10. MISS DES BESACES – Looked very ordinary when qualifying in 1’20″0 at Le Mans early-July. Not ideally-drawn here and is unlikely to ruffle many feathers

11. MOVE ALONG – Unexceptional 1’20″6 in qualification but is well-regarded at home. Leading driver at the helm first time out, which may prove rather telling

12. MARECHAL DU LEVANT – Qualified in 1’18″8 at Caen in early-July. Receives a Matthieu Abrivard for debut but others still preferred

13. MAMMA MIA – Given time to come on after qualifying in 1’19″2 at Caen in early-May. Hails from a good family and even though starting on 2nd line, is still worth monitoring

14. MIKA DE TOUCHYVON – Qualified in a rather un exceptional  1’20″4 here late-May and looks properly outclassed

Summary: With half the field making its debut and the other half having made little impression first time out, this is not an easy race to decipher. A marginal preference though goes to Nicolas Bazire’s MELBA DU GERS (8) who qualified well at Caen during the spring. Surprisingly lacklustre at the same venue on debut, MOTTEAUX DAIRPET (7) showed in qualification that he is significantly better than that and goes left-handed this time with a decent chance at redemption. MOVE ALONG (11) qualified without fanfare but Etienne Dubois has called on the services of Yoann Lebourgeois who can assure the debutante a competitive drive. MAESTRO JAMINI (9) qualified well going clockwise but debuts left-handed and a similar effort would see him in the mix.

C8 – PRIX SCIPION DU GOUTIER – 2850m (a2m) – Class F Race – Mounted – EUR € 18,000

1. LYNX DU LUPIN – Untried sort that qualified without fanfare here early-July and looks to have too much to do first time out

2. L’IMPERIALE AR – Moderate 4th at Les Sables-d’Olonne before faulting early in a 2175m Vincennes Class D on 10 September. Has a lot of room for improvement though and, if behaved, can play a small part

3. LORD FAUNTLEROY – Sanctioned in both return runs, most recently a 2500m Reims harness Class F late-August. Back under the saddle, with hind pads fitted, but others still preferred

4. LIBERTA DEL PHEDO – Back under the saddle after faulting in a 2950m Saint-Malo harness Class F last month, and is not about to cause an upset

5. LE ROUPIO – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2850m Laon Class F 3 months ago. Takes on better this time and others easier to trust

6. LAVATER GEDE – 4th of 11, a place behind LE KING (9), in a Class E over track and trip 3 weeks ago. Cannot be considered a priority but is worth keeping an eye on

7. LA STORIA – Encouraged at Caen earlier in the month but failed to confirm when sanctioned in a 2450m Caen Class E last Saturday, and can be passed over

8. LACINIA – Lost her action in a Class E over course and distance on 6 September. Eric Raffin maintains faith though and it is only a question of time. Attention

9. LE KING – 3rd over course and distance 3 weeks ago before finishing 5th of 9 in a 2775m Class F at Les Sables-d’Olonne last Friday, and represents no more than a minor place prospect

10. LIMATI DE LA DIVE – 3rd at Alençon on monté debut before running 4th of 9 in a 2800m Moulins harness Class F mid-month, and seems to be biting off more than he can chew

11. LOVEA DE CEMASO – Sanctioned under the saddle here a month ago before faulting again in a 2000m Rambouillet Class F a fortnight later. Entrusted to Damien Bonne who will afford her every chance. First 5

12. LADY JULES – Has demonstrated decent aptitude but has not been seen out since coming 5th of 7 in a 2700m Vincennes Class C last February and will need the run

13. LERMINIG OLIVERIE – Talented but tricky filly taking first public monté steps, with Guillaume Martin in the irons, after being sanctioned in a 2650m harness Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne 3 weeks ago, and will be a serious player if he can keep her applied

14. LEA DE FROULAY – Disappointing of late, latterly sanctioned in a 2400m Châteaubriant Class F 2.5 weeks ago, and must get her house in order

15. LOYAL DU CHOQUEL – 5th of 11 finishers, behind LE KING (9), in a Class E over track and trip 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to repeat but will not be available at 181/1 either

16. LOLO DU VELO – Simply superb winner of a Class F under these conditions late last month. Faces a marginally tougher task this time around but still looks the pick of the lot

17. LOUMANAS – Comfortably won at Le Croisé-Laroche earlier this month, first time out, before being sanctioned, when favourite, in a 2750m harness Class E at La Capelle on 13 September, but can play a prominent role if applied

18. LOCKDOWN – Showed marked improvement when 2nd of 11 in a 2650m Alençon Class F on 1 September. Beaten only by a very good horse that day and must be afforded respect

Summary: After qualifying like a rocket here in June, LOLO DU VELO (16) duly scored with authority under these very conditions on her debut a month ago, and should logically take all the beating. Anthony Barrier will however be keeping a watchful eye on the complicated but serious monté debutante, LERMINIG OLIVERIE (13), who will have her chances if she gets off on the right foot, and LOCKDOWN (18) whose return to the code caught the eye. Similarly untried in the discipline, LOUMANAS (17) was unable to confirm her debut victory but is unlikely to disappoint if Benjamin Rochard keeps her focused.
