R1 VINCENNES [L-H]

C1 – PRIX D’ERBRAY – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000

  1. FILOU DE LA ROUVRE – Sports a new configuration after finishing last but one in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D a month back but still has no possible chance
  2. FAVORI DE BRY – Ran 2nd at Reims before comfortably winning a 2925m Cagnes Class D on 21 December. Decently-placed in front and, racing barefoot for the first time, must be considered a player
  3. GORDON MIJACK – Sanctioned when unsupported in a Class D over course and distance on 4 January. Benjamin Rochard in the bike this time, and starts from the 3-spot, but still not an obvious choice
  4. GOLD D’ECROVILLE – Made it 3 straight sanctions after faulting in a 2700m Class D here late-November. Handed a good number but looks out of his depth nonetheless
  5. ASTRONASCENTE ZAC – Should not be too hastily-judged for finishing 9th of 15 behind GOLDEN VISAIS (9) in a Class D under these conditions early last month. Comes here fresh, is confirmed over track and trip, and looks a serious proposition
  6. FURIOSO FLIGNY – In the frame in last 3, most recently 3rd of 14 in a 2100m Class D here on 4 January. Starts in front and has a realistic chance of imposing this time
  7. GUERRIER CASTELETS – Decent 8th of 14 behind FURIOSO FLIGNY (6), on comeback, in a 2100m Class D here on 4 January. Breaks somewhat wide, will have come on for the run though and can challenge for a spot on the podium
  8. FOGO PICO – Back under harness after being sanctioned in a 2850m monte Class D here 2.5 weeks ago. Is no slouch when focused and Mathieu Mottier will afford him every chance
  9. GOLDEN VISAIS – 9th of 17 when preparing for this in a 2800m Pontchateau Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Races barefoot for the occasion but forced to start wide on front line and a minor place chance at best
  10. ELEVEN SHAPTER – 9th of 15 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a month ago. Is clearly out of his league and can be disregarded
  11. FEUX VERTS – 9th of 15 to FAVORI DE BRY (2) in a 2925m Cagnes Class D on 21 December. Has never delivered under these conditions and is not about to start
  12. ALONE (SWE) – Unthreatening 7th of 12 finishers in a 2850m monte Class D here late last month. Sanctioned on lone harness start here and others easier to back
  13. FERRERO DU LOISIR – Sanctioned in 5 of last 6, latterly a 2850m monte Class D here 2.5 weeks ago, and will have few friends
  14. GOLDORACK – Makes first appearance since being sanctioned early in a 2650m Vivaux Class D on 30 November and has no possible chance
  15. GALION – Made a good comeback when 4th of 14, a place behind FURIOSO FLIGNY, in a Class D under these conditions 12 days ago. Will have progressed for the race and will not be far off the mark if his driver can somehow negate the draw
  16. MISTER DONALD – Comfortable winner of a 2700m Class D here on 28 December. Handed a tough draw and unlikely to repeat but can still trot his way into the money
    Summary: Back at the top of his game following a long layoff, FURIOSO FLIGNY (6) has been hovering for some time and from the 6-spot can play a leading role. Jean-Michel Bazire will still want to be wary of the similarly well-positioned ASTRONASCENTE ZAC (5) who enjoys a 75 percent win-rate when barefoot, and the tough GUERRIER CASTELETS (7) who gave a good account on his recent re-entry. GALION (15) finished a place behind JMB’s horse earlier this month and will be dangerous if Esteban De Jesus successfully navigates the start.

  18. MEPHISTO DU CLOS – Makes first appearance since qualifying in 1’19″5 at Caen last May. Raffegeau stable going well but is unlikely to be given a hard race
  19. MESSI PASS – Qualified in 1’19″4 at Caen mid-November. Has a lot going for him on racecourse debut and will be expected to play a leading role
  20. MAXOU AMAX – Sanctioned on monte debut, in 27 December race of reference, and appears to have nothing to contribute
  21. MIGNON DES MACE – 4th of 8 on debut in a 2650m Bordeaux Class F last Sunday. Emmanuel Marin takes advantage of his form and will not be far off the mark if he turns
  22. MANHATTAN VISAIS – Ran 7th under these conditions before being sanctioned in a 2700m Class B here last Friday and has no possible chance
  23. MAGNOLIADARCHE – Sanctioned in a 2700m Class B here last Friday. Will appreciate returning to a more even surface and Eric Raffin is a reassuring presence in the saddle. Place chance
  24. MEURSAULT DE VETRE – Last of 5 finishers in a 2700m Class B here last Friday and will need to find significantly more
  25. MENTALIST AR – Honest colt that ran 4th of 14 behind MAGYC BERRY (10) in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to cause an upset but can still make first 5
  26. MAGYC BERRY – Made up for early-December sanction when 2nd of 14 in a Class D over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Is plainly close to his race and looks the one to beat this time
    Summary: Beaten only by a very good horse here late last month, Alexandre Abrivard is reunited with the promising MAGYC BERRY (10) who looks eminently capable of getting his nose in front this time. Hailing from a yard firing on all cylinders, and ridden by Mathieu Mottier, MESSI PASS (3) looks a very interesting debutant. MAGNOLIADARCHE (7) made little impression here last week but has been entrusted to Eric Raffin for the occasion and should be competitive for a place in the frame.

  28. MISTER CASH – Qualified in 1’19”1 at Caen on 29 November. Takes on some good horse first time out and chances appear slim
  29. MOUSTIK LA GOVELLE – Complicated sort that was sanctioned in a 2100m Class C here last Friday. Is better than recent numbers would suggest and, if focused, can figure prominently
  30. MARIUS DE DUSSAC – Sanctioned in last 3, most recently a 2875m Argentan Class F last Saturday, and is unlikely to garner much support
  31. MISTRAL CASTELLE – Never-threatening 4th of 11, a place behind MADE IN MARETTES (6), in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Has merit though and while not a contender, can still make first 5
  32. MADE IN MARETTES – Easy winner on debut prior to running 3rd of 11 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Is a colt for the future and will have his chances if he takes to the new profile
  33. MAGNUS MAXIMUS – Failed to confirm good Amiens performance when 5th of 11 in a 2050m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Is not about to spring a surprise but should still acquit himself honourably
  34. MYLEY ELDE – Unplaced in 2 since his victorious debut, most recently last of 6 finishers in a 2175m Class D here on 26 November. In less-exalted company this time and can go closer
  35. MAKE YOUR DAY – Won on debut early-December before running 2nd of 9 in a 2700m Graignes Class E 11 days later. Beaten only by a very good horse that day and will be the one to beat this time
    Summary: Wonderfully-entered at the limit of earnings, the well-related MAKE YOUR DAY (9) steps up in category after having twice shown considerable potential and has a realistic chance of making his Vincennes debut a winning one. Franck Nivard will still have one eye on Romain Larue’s progressive MADE IN MARETTES (6) who goes left-handed for the first time, and the delicate MOUSTIK LA GOVELLE (3) who can give this a good go if he manages to keep trotting.

  37. LAUSSAC DU BUISSON – Has not put a foot wrong to date, most recently 3rd of 15, a place behind LITTLE TWO (11), in a 2700m Class D here 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to repeat but should not be written off either
  38. LE GENTLEMAN – Makes first appearance since winning a 2200m Class C here 11.5 months ago and is sure to need the outing
  39. LAGO DE PERVENCHE – Good 2nd of 12 in a 2100m Class E here a fortnight ago. Yet to disappoint over 2175m here and will be competitive for a place on the podium
  40. LORENZO BERRY – Took little time getting back in the game, most recently winning a 2850m Class E over short course, with authority, on 7 January. Steps marginally up in category but returns with morale intact and will have his chances
  41. LOOPING D’HERIPRE – Handy colt that ran 3rd of 14, on re-entry, in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D 3 weeks ago. Will have progressed for the race, goes unshod-behind, and can get a look-in
  42. LEZZO FIGHTER – Missed the start and subsequently sanctioned in a Class D over course and distance on 5 January. Form is not in doubt though and can make a big splash if he keeps his action together
  43. LINARO – Left a pleasant impression after being sanctioned in a 2100m Class D here on 28 December. Races barefoot this time and, if applied, can finish in the mix
  44. LUCKY LOVE – Never at his ease when sanctioned in a 2700m Class D here on 5 January. Pitted against some very good horses and chances limited
  45. LATHOS DE VIVOIN – Progressive type that smartly won a Class E under these conditions on 21 December. Takes on a better lot this time but has earned the right to race here and is unlikely to go home empty-handed
  46. LITTLE TWO – Missed out by little in a Class D under these conditions 3 weeks ago. Has nothing to prove at this level and with his mind on the job can win this
  47. LUGANO – One-paced 7th of 10 finishers in a 2700m Class D here earlier this month. Is not devoid of talent though and racing first-time barefoot can make all the difference
    Summary: Very much an open affair this, it is nevertheless difficult to ignore the newly-barefoot LITTLE TWO (11) who would have imposed last time here had he not hesitated. He could well have his on this occasion but will still face resistance from the talented but complicated LEZZO FIGHTER (7), and LORENZO BERRY (5) who has won 2 of his last 3. LAGO DE PERVENCHE (4) went close to a very good horse here recently and, racing first-time barefoot, can play a leading role.

  48. KEROSEN DU GERS – Last of 9 finishers, on return to competition, in a 2850m Class B here on New Year’s Day. Hind shoes off but others still easier to support
  49. KHARNAS – 6th of 16 to KAISER DES GRANGES (4) when denied a run in a Class C over course and distance late last month. Is plainly in form though and will not be far from the action if Anthony Barrier keeps him out of trouble
  50. KAISER – Sanctioned in both since the spell, most recently a Class C over track and trip on 5 January. Barefoot for the occasion but cannot be considered a priority
  51. KAISER DES GRANGES – Has thrived since his change of configuration, most recently winning a Class C under these conditions late last month, and will again be competitive for a cheque
  52. KAMIKAZE DU CAMPUS – Sanctioned in last 3, latterly a 2850m Class B here on New Year’s Day. Has merit though and it is just a question of time before he comes good again
  53. KATCHI QUICK – 6th of 10 to KARMA POWER (10) in a 2175m Class C conditioner here on 20 December. Has won twice over track and trip and can give him a run for his money this time
  54. KENO PETTEVINIERE – Surprise winner over course and distance prior to finishing 5th of 10 to KARMA POWER (10) in a 2175m Class C here on 20 December, and is unlikely to stir things up
  55. KAKO GASCOGNE – Won under the saddle over the short course before coming close 3rd of 11 in a 2175m monté Class B here on 28 December. Has references in both codes and can again figure prominently
  56. KARMA – Met no opposition en route to victory in a Class C over course and distance 11 days ago. Races barefoot again and can confirm
  57. KARMA POWER – Won 3 of last 4, most recently a 2175m Class C with ease here on 20 December. In similar form should be in a position to complete the hat-trick
    Summary: Well-entered here and currently firing on all cylinders, KARMA POWER (10) produced his career-best performance last month when dominating a good field over 2175m and, unbeaten in 2 starts under these conditions, looks the pick of the field. Benjamin Rochard will be paying heed though to the Duvaldestin’s excellent KATCHI QUICK (6) who is unbeaten in the day’s configuration, and KARMA (9) who made short work of a Class C here earlier this month.

  59. DAFNE DI POGGIO – Superior winner of a 2150m Argentan Class F on first start for Bazire stable a month ago. Should take well to Vincennes conditions and has the class to win a race of this nature
  60. JAZZY MAKER – Has not put a foot wrong since September, most recently 3rd of 14 in a Class F over course and distance on Christmas Eve. In better company this time, races with shoes on, and represents no more than a minor place chance
  61. JANA D’ARMOR – Unlucky 9th of 15 in a 2800m Pontchateau Class E a fortnight ago. Is unlikely to spring a surprise but can play a small part if Pierre Sorais keeps her out of trouble
  62. JACINTHE DES BOIS – Defied her odds to run 4th of 16 in a 2850m Class E here 12 days ago. Has a lot more going for her this time and, if still on the boil, can make a big splash
  63. DONNER AMOUR – Tricky Italian type that finished 8th of 9 over 1600m in Naples, when preparing for this, a fortnight ago. Has solid Vincennes form and, with application, will be expected to finish close
  64. DRUJBA – Last but one over 2620m in Turin late last month. Has never excelled at Vincennes and would be preferred barefoot
  65. JUBILATION – Left a good impression despite faulting early in a 2850m Class E here on 4 January. Will be a place candidate this time though, provided she gets off on the right foot
  66. JAVA DES BERTHES – Useful on a good day and most recently 5th of 10 finishers, a place behind JACINTHE DES BOIS (5), in a 2850m Class E here on 4 January, but may be biting off too much this time
  67. DYNAMITE BAR – Won 4 on the trot before running 6th of 12 over 2200m at Follonica a month back. Has never been beaten when barefoot and although not a priority this time, should nevertheless hold her own
  68. JANIS SHOW – 11th of 15 in a 2850m Le Mans Class E a month ago. Shoes back on and in current form will have few takers
  69. JAMAIQUE PAJELO – Sanctioned in last 4, most recently a Class D over track and trip last Saturday, and even with front pads fitted, backs up with limited aspiration
  70. JOADIE WIND – Complicated character that galloped early in a 2100m Class E here on 11 December. Has previously won under these conditions and will not be far from the action if Pierre-Yves Verva keeps her trotting
  71. DIABEL – Returns to Vincennes after winning a 1600m Follonica conditioner mid-December. Races barefoot this time and will not be far off the mark if Eric Raffin keeps her mind on the game
  72. JADORE JULRY – Nicely-entered here and sports a new configuration but will need to improve on latest 9th of 16 in a 2850m Class E here 2.5 weeks ago
    Summary: An exceptional Italian mare that got her French campaign off to a flying start last month, DAFNE DI POGGIO (2) may never have been tested beyond 2200m but her new handler is confident she will get the trip and with his father in the bike, can continue her winning streak. Leading the opposition, JACINTHE DES BOIS (5) races barefoot with Matthieu Abrivard reining and sports a new configuration. JUBILATION (8) showed her form here recently despite being sanctioned and Benjamin Rochard will be keen to put things right. DONNER AMOUR (6) returns to racing barefoot following a Naples conditioner and will have a lot to offer if she stays focused.

  73. HATE YOU BEYLEV – Consistent sort that ran 2nd of 6 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 23 December. Gets on well with his jockey, races with front shoes off, and is unlikely to disappoint. Place chance
  74. GUEPARD GRIFF – Imposed under the saddle at Le Croise-Laroche prior to coming tenacious 2nd of 13 in a 2100m harness Class F here 10 days ago. Returns to racing with front pads but may still find the going tough
  75. HECTOR DU MINON – Respectable 4th of 6 finishers behind HATE YOU BEYLEV (1) in a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 23 December. Has ground to make up but will nevertheless have his supporters
  76. IBILI D’OCCAGNES – Solid in last 2, most recently 4th of 11 to IGNACE GUENESERIE (9) in a 2850m Class D over short course on Christmas Eve. Little chance of imposing but has the capacity to make first 5
  77. GOLD DE JADE – Did not enjoy the best of trips when 7th of 10 behind IVORINO D’ECHAL (6) in a 2175m Class E here on 31 December. That said, he still looks to have too much to do
  78. IVORINO D’ECHAL – 5th of 10, on ridden debut, in a 2175m Class E here late-December. Takes on a better lot this time but will have found his feet and can play a small part
  79. IGOR DU PARC – Took little time getting back in the game, most recently 3rd of 11 to IGNACE GUENESERIE (9) in a 2850m Class D over short course on Christmas Eve. Has decent references under these conditions and can open his 2025 account
  80. IMELDA – Won 2 of last 3 under the saddle, latterly securing a 2750m Cabourg Class E with ease a fortnight ago. Oscar Placier aboard this time and will be competitive for the win
  81. IGNACE GUENESERIE – Held on well to win a 2850m Class D over short course on Christmas Eve. Is new to 2700m here but, if still on the boil, can again figure prominently
  82. ILEO PIERJI – Quality element returning to his code of preference after being sanctioned in a harness Class D conditioner over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Thrives with Estelle Croisic and will not be far off the mark
  83. GITANE DU RIB – 12th of 18 when preparing for this in a 2875m Argentan harness Class E on Boxing Day. Races barefoot for just 2nd time but must first get her house in order
  84. GYPSIE ROYALE – Unexceptional 6th of 9 in a 2925m Cagnes harness Class E mid-December and will have nothing to offer
  85. HURLEVENT – 7th of 12 in a 3125m Angers harness Class F last week. Nicely-entered here and races unshod-behind but others still preferred
    Summary: Reunited with Jean Ferron who has already won with him, IGOR DU PARC (7) left a good impression here last month and, barefoot again, can bring home the bacon. That being said, IMELDA (8) is in flying form, has never disappointed with Adrien Lamy, and looks the principal threat. HATE YOU BEYLEV (1) has been going good-guns for some time, is competitively shod for the occasion, and will be no pushover. Surprise winner over the inner track last time out, IGNACE GUENESERIE (9) must be taken more seriously.

  87. JACOMO BELLO – Made short work of a 2175m Class D here a fortnight ago. Steps up in category but is proven over 2850m here and looks competitive once more
  88. JANKO HAUFOR – Quality element that imposed over 2100m before running close 2nd of 16 to JIPET DE CREPIN (9) in a 2700m Class D here on 20 December. Flourishes in the day’s configuration and his place is on the podium
  89. JEROCASH DE PHYT’S – 6th of 11 behind JOLIVERT DU GERS (8) in a 2700m Class C here 2.5 weeks ago. Blows hot and cold and others easier to trust
  90. JINGLE LOVER – Well-beaten 3rd of 16 to JIPET DE CREPIN (9) in a 2700m Class D here on 20 December. Has merit but cannot be regarded more than a minor place prospect
  91. JOOST D’OLERON – Last of 12 behind JEWEL DE LA COTE (10) in a Class B under these conditions on 15 December. Is a long way from last winter’s form and must first re-establish his credentials
  92. JENTIL DIESCHOOT – Made up for mid-December sanction when 3rd of 12 in a 2925m Cagnes Class C 6 days later. Gets on well with Mathieu Mottier, is clearly on the right road, and on good behaviour can finish close
  93. JOLIVERT DU GERS – Good, consistent sort that ran 3rd of 11 in a 2700m Class C here 2.5 weeks ago. Currently enjoying a productive run of form and although unlikely to cause an upset, should still be able to make first 5
  94. JIPET DE CREPIN – Won 2 of last 3, latterly a 2700m Class D here on 20 December. Simply thrives on the main track and Eric Raffin will be keen to confirm
  95. JEWEL DE LA COTE – Drops back in category after running respectable 8th of 16 in a Class B over course and distance a month ago. Is considerably better than recent numbers would suggest and can be considered a major player
  96. JAZZ DE PERVENCHE – 7th of 9 in a 2700m monté Class C last Friday. Enjoys a good entry though and is not incapable of setting the cat among the pigeons. Attention
    Summary: A tough nut to crack when unshod and focused, JIPET DE CREPIN (9) has won twice for Eric Raffin this winter and will be expected to confirm. JANKO HAUFOR (3) finished a determined and close runner-up to him last month and should again figure prominently, but he may first have to defer to the reconfigured JEWEL DE LA COTE (10) who has caught the eye more than once recently. JACOMO BELLO (2) left quite the impression here a fortnight ago and will be no soft touch.

  1. BREIZHY BOY – Runner up over track/trip in a maiden on the 20th of December 2024. Should go very close
  2. BABY HARTWOOD – Fair effort in 5th position over track/trip in a maiden on the 20th of December 2024. Could sneak into the placings
  3. TYWIN – Finished a clear 2nd over track/trip in a maiden on the 12th of December 2024. Should be in the shake up
  4. MODERN SPIRIT – Well held in 6th position over 1900m at Deauville in a maiden on the 28th of December 2024. Others make more appeal
  5. RIGOLETTOS – Finished 3rd over 1700m at Pornichet in a maiden on the 22nd of December 2024. Faces a tougher task here
  6. DREAM INDEX – Not seen to best effect in 7th spot over 1900m at Deauville in a maiden on the 28th of December 2024. Can challenge on penultimate run
  7. HERACLES – Finished 7th over 1300m at Deauville in a maiden on the 24th of October 2024. Can earn a minor position
  8. APOGEO – Finished 6th over track/trip in a maiden on the 20th of December 2024. Others make more appeal
  9. NOFIX – Finished 4th behind a reopposing sort over track/trip in a maiden on the 12th of December 2024. Held on form
  10. SHAMAKI – Dam won once over 1600m and this colt makes quite a bit of appeal on paper. Monitor the market
    Summary: DREAM INDEX (6) hasn’t particularly set the tracks alight but hails from a strong yard and can show vast improvement in this. BREIZHY BOY (1) ran a cracker on debut and should be a lot wiser for task at hand. He will be a big player for top honors. SHAMAKI (10) is nicely bred and needs to be respected for a powerful yard. HERACLES (7) can take a step forward from his debut effort.

It could pay to take a chance on him delivering the goods at the expense of JAVA DU GILET (6) who showed her form and well-being by finishing 2nd at Montauban last time out. IDOLE DE LA COTE (7) acquitted herself well (6th) in her first mounted appearance at Cagnes earlier this month and she will make her presence felt if building on that encouraging introduction under the saddle. JALNA DU PALAIS (3) isnt without a chance either.

    Summary: There are several genuine contenders for race honours. LE BEAU FOXGLEN (1) and LEAVING NEW YORK (2), who were 2nd and 3rd respectively over 2150m here on 10 January, renew their rivalry and could find themselves fighting out the finish over this extended trip. Last-start Montauban scorer LACANAU (3), who that day beat the selection on his comeback appearance, ought to play another leading role, which could also be said of recent Bordeaux winner LA BELLE JAMINI (11) who races unshod again. And doesn’t end there!

    Summary: MACH DELALANDE (2) bumped into a highly regarded sort on debut at Grenade-sur-Garonne but lost little in defeat (2nd) to Mauritian over 2125m, finishing clear of re-opposing MEMORY STAR ELGE (4) who trailed in 6th. The former needn’t improve much with that experience to count on and is confidently taken to open his account. MOVE ALONG (8) shouldn’t be hastily condemned for her recent failure (disqualification) and could emerge as the biggest threat to the selection if bouncing back to her earlier form.

    Summary: Enigmatic GENERAL INTRIGANT (3) is rarely from a fault but is ideally engaged under favourable conditions, so he needs only to avoid disqualification to resume winning ways over this shorter distance. ILDO DES CHAMPS (5) fits a similar profile and a repeat of his Beaumont performance last month (3rd) should see him fight for victory. HELTER SKELTER (6) and ISARIA DU GUELIER (7) aren’t taken lightly and have legitimate podium aspirations too.
