R1 DEAUVILLE [R-H]
C1 – PRIX DU SAP-ANDRE – 3400m (a2m1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 Handicap – Flat – EUR € 23,000
- I LOVE CHACHA – Unplaced (8th) on this course over 2500m on his handicap and PSF debut on 14 December. Others preferred
- NASDAQ – Convincing last-start winner on this course in a 3400m handicap on 28 December. Remains competitive for race honours despite a resultant 3kg penalty
- NATURAL LIGHT – Improving stayer with undeniable means/sound form references (on turf) and room for improvement. Not seen since finishing 4th in a 3000m Class 3 event at Le Lion-d’Angers on 9 August but respected on his reappearance
- NICASTRO – Unplaced in 2 starts after a 4-month absence, both in PSF handicaps – the latest (8th) over 3100m at Pornichet on 7 January. For another day
- EL TIGRE – Runner-up on this course in a 2500m handicap last month but didn’t confirm that form/improvement last time when only 7th in a similar handicap over that distance on 3 January. Not written off stretching out to this trip
- DAYAL – Changed hands after finishing 2nd in a 2400m turf claimer at Toulouse in November and acquitted himself well in subsequent PSF handicaps – finished 5th in both, the latest on this course over 2500m on 3 January. Outsider
- HUCHENANE – Progressive stayer with a good record on the Deauville PSF – won and finished 2nd in 2 appearances here (both starts in 2500m handicaps). Lost little in defeat when runner-up on 3 January and may enjoy this extended trip
- L’INITIE – Experienced 19-start maiden with sound/consistent PSF references, albeit in claiming races. Did too much too soon when tiring to finish 5th in a 2400m PSF maiden at Lyon-La Soie on 9 January – place chance if ridden cold
- ANGELIC CHORUS – Failed to confirm the form/improvement of penultimate outing (4th on PSF in a 3100m apprentice maiden) at Pornichet when only 9th in a 2700m Class 3 conditions race on PSF at Chantilly on 11 January. Watch for now
- STRANGELOVE – Battling 13-start maiden yet to find the frame – unplaced in 5 consecutive PSF appearances recently, the latest (10th) on this course in a 2500m handicap on 17 January. Can be ruled out
Summary: An impressive winner on this course over 3400m last month, NASDAQ (2) is unlikely to be deterred by his 3kg penalty and it should pay to follow his progress. Maturing HUCHENANE (7) will appreciate stretching out to this distance so, with any improvement, he could make life difficult for the selection. Returning NATURAL LIGHT (3), experienced L’INITIE (8) and EL TIGRE (5) are competitive the remaining podium berth.

C2 – PRIX DU VAUDREUIL – 1500m (a7f1/2) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 Race – Flat – EUR € 16,000 - ORANGE VIF – Versatile hard-knocker with references on both surfaces, though his 5 career wins did come on turf. Shouldnt be hastily condemned for finishing 13th in a similar course-and-distance event on 4 January – has a place chance
- MERCURISSIME – Wasn’t winning out of turn when scoring in a 1300m handicap on this track last month and finished 3rd under a 2,5kg penalty in the key course-and-distance reference race on 4 January. Candidate for success
- BOUGAINVILLIER – Course-and-distance winner at this level last month and acquitted himself well when finishing 6th at Chantilly in a 1600m PSF claimer on 11 January. Keep safe
- SAXON VILLAGE – Won a 1600m PSF handicap at Chantilly last month and was continually held up when finishing unplaced (11th) in the benchmark event on 4 January. Finished with obvious resources that day so deserves another chance
- REGALIEN – Won 2 of 3 starts since joining Christophe Plisson, earning a total 5,5kg penalty for back-to-back recent victories in 1400m handicaps on this course, the latest on 10 January. Dangerous to discount in current mood/form
- TWIN BOY – Hard-knocking veteran handicapper with sound references on this surface, including a course-and-distance win on 20 November. Unplaced (13th) in a 2000m PSF handicap at Pau on 17 January but this shorter trip will suit
- BOKEN – Bounced back to form (4th) last time in a similar course-and-distance race on 4 January. Confirmation required
- ON LOCKDOWN – Touched off (2nd) in the course-and-distance benchmark event on 4 January. Will fight for victory with a repeat that performance
- CELTIC ARYAAN – Consistent hard-knocker with sound references in turf handicaps, including a commendable 5th of 17 when last seen over 1600m at Clairefontaine on 5 July. Unplaced in both PSF appearances so best watched on his return
- NOCE D’OR – Stayed on well when eventually seeing daylight to finish 7th on this course in a 1400m handicap on 10 January. The extended distance and ease in grade serve his interests
- TREMBLANT – Unplaced although not beaten far in 2 recent appearances back on French soil, both on this course over 1500m. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 6th in a similar course-and-distance event on 4 January – joker in the pack
- WAKAI GO – Sparingly raced 7-year-old who finished a reassuring 3rd in a similar course-and-distance race on 23 December. Has upset potential
- ICE CLIMBER – Returned from a 10-week absence to finish a career-best 4th on this course in a 1400m maiden on 4 January. Open to further improvement so could get into the picture at odds – will appeal to lovers of outsiders
- RED NUDE ROUGE – Versatile veteran mare with sound references in handicaps on both surfaces, including a last-start 3rd in a PSF handicap over 1400m at Chantilly on 16 January. Attractive outsider
- MARKSWOMAN – Raced off a career-low mark when 2nd/narrowly beaten at long odds (96-1) in a 1600m PSF claimer at Chantilly on 11 January. Must confirm that form/improvement to be competitive
Summary: ON LOCKDOWN (8) was touched off in the shadow of the post in the key reference event earlier this month but need only repeat that performance to gain compensation. SAXON VILLAGE (4) was desperately unlucky in that race so he deserves another chance. Consistent MERCURISSIME (2) and NOCE D’OR (10), whose latest performance was encouraging, should make their presence felt too. BOUGAINVILLIER (3) is a potential spoilsport and will appeal to lovers of oustiders.

C3 – PRIX DE LA POINTE DU SIEGE – 1300m (a6f1/2) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 Claiming – Flat – EUR € 19,000 - ROSETTE – Thriving, lightly raced mare at the top of her game – won 3 consecutive before finishing 2nd on 20 December, all 4 appearances with headgear fitted (retained here) on PSF over 1500m at Mons. Dark horse
- MCTENETT – Inconsistent colt with undeniable means and sound references on this surface. Well-beaten 13th on this course in a 1400m Quinte+ handicap on 10 January but will be more competitive at this level – not taken lightly
- COMMEAUX – Sparingly raced last-start winner of a 1400m turf handicap at Clairefontaine on 27 July. Best watched for now
- THEKINGOFMYHEART – Deemed worthy of contesting in Group races in Germany last year – failed to fulfil that promise/potential but did finish a reassuring 2nd over 1500m on PSF at Mons when last seen (26 November). Attractive outsider
- WELCH FUSILIER – Stayed on well when finding a clear passage to finish a creditable 5th in a course-and-distance Class 4 event on 4 January. Closely matched with ZEPLACETOBE (15) and should have to play at this level
- CAMIRO – Experienced German veteran who seldom finishes far off the mark but has no PSF references. Unplaced (8th) at Dortmund over 1800m on 19 January – others preferred
- LE RAPIDE – Well-beaten 4th over 2100m at Mons on 20 December and unlikely to trouble the judge on that evidence. Ignore
- SASSY RASCAL – Versatile veteran mare handicapper with references on both surfaces at a higher level. Finished unplaced (13th) in a course-and-distance handicap on 27 November but could surprise dropped in class on her reappearance
- BRILLIANT BLUE – Experienced hard-knocker soundly beaten (last of 11) in a 1400m Class 2 on PSF at Chantilly on 16 January. For another day
- CITY OF HOPE – Experienced but inconsistent handicapper who continues to blow hot and cold – soundly beaten in consecutive 1400m handicaps on this course recently, the latest (15th) on 10 January. Can do better under Maxime Guyon
- PARISIAN LEAH – Versatile, lightly raced filly with undeniable means but currently out of sorts – soundly beaten in 4 consecutive starts, the latest (9th) in a course-and-distance Class 3 conditions event on 27 December. Not taken lightly
- KABOOM – Unplaced in both appearances, the latest (11th) in a 1440m PSF claimer at Chantilly on 20 December. Will need to improve to play a minor role
- CALIFANO – Blew his chances at the start when finishing last of 6 in a 1700m PSF claimer at Pornichet on 29 December when resuming after a 4-month absence. Not hastily condemned
- THE CAT’S – Experienced hard-knocker whose references include a Quinté+ 3rd at ParisLongchamp in April 2024. Unplaced in 4 subsequent starts and soundly beaten in 3 consecutive PSF appearances – the latest (12th) in a handicap on this course over 1300m on 3 January
- ZEPLACETOBE – Bounced back to form with a reassuring 4th in a course-and-distance Class 4 event on 4 January. Confirmation is expected off a 1kg lower mark
Summary: ZEPLACETOBE (15) returned to form at this level of competition and a repeat of that course-and-distance display should suffice. WELCH FUSILIER (5) has a bit to find on the form of that recent meeting but there were legitimate excuses for his performance, and he should pose more of a threat here. CITY OF HOPE (10), reunited with Maxime Guyon, CALIFANO (13) and PARISIAN LEAH (11) appeal most of the remainder.

- AHATIS – Experienced hard-knocker whose references/form credentials in PSF handicaps include a course-and-distance victory. Didn’t go unnoticed (7th) in a 1900m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 11 January – not taken lightly
- STEELHAMMER – Sparked improvement since dropping in the weights/ratings to his current mark and has confirmed as much by finishing 5th in back-to-back PSF appearances, the latest in a course-and-distance handicap on 28 December. Beware
Summary: Lightly raced MONBE (3) caught the eye when 2nd in a course-and-distance event last month and needn’t improve much to go one better with Christophe Soumillon maintaining the partnership. Consistent hard-knockers FITZCARRALDO (5), LHOMMAIZE (11) and veteran last-start winner ANTRIM (4), even under a resultant penalty, have the form and experience to expose any chinks in the selection’s armour. MAGIC TUNIS (7) and GO LOVE (8) complete the shortlist.

- JAZZ PASSION – 13th in class E at Bordeaux-Le Bouscat over 2550m on 9 January. Unreliable since victorious in September and is best left out
- JAGUAR DE DALINE – Victorious in Class F at Angers over 3125m on 12 January. Remains barefoot and can double the lead. Winning chance
- JAKADI DE BOUERE – Runner up in class F at Bordeaux-Le Bouscat over 2650m on 12 January. Remains barefoot and can score one better. Winning chance
- JORLANDO – Victorious in Class E at Vincennes over 2850m on 3 January. Placed three times in previous four attempts. Contest the win
Summary: An authoritative last-start winner at Angers earlier this month, JAGUAR DE DALINE (11) seems ideally placed to follow up, especially with Benjamin Rochard in the sulky. Reliable JAKADI DE BOUERE (12) and recent Vincennes scorer JORLANDO (13) have the form and experience to fight for victory, and they will make life difficult for the selection. PLAYER TURGOT (8) and JUSTICIER DAIRPET (7) appeal most of the remainder.

- JADE DE BLARY – Has struggled with disqualifications of late including last time out at Cordemais on 15 January. Others are much preferred
- JAVA DE LANGERON – -On a very long losing run but did show improvement when fourth last time out in Class F at Argentan over 2150m on 26 December. Might play a minor role
- JOLIE FLEUR OR – Very unreliable and was unplaced last time out in Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche over 2700m on 16 December. Needs to find a few lengths to beat these rival
- JULIA DE MARZY – Unreliable and was tenth in Class F at Nantes over 3000m on 17 January. Capable of getting involved with the finish

- JOSY DES LANDES – Unreliable and was 6th last time out in Class F at Cabourg over 2750m on 17 December. Has a place chance
- JOLLITY GABY – Disappointing from of late and was 6th in Class F at Rouen-Mauquenchy over 2850m on 13 January. Capable of earning some money
- JOLIKOVA D’ARIANE – Only modest of late and finished 7th in Class E at Enghien over 2875m on 24 July. More is needed to beat these rivals
Summary: Beaten only by a smart rival at Vincennes earlier this month, JULIANA DU BREIL (7) needs only repeat that performance to go one better. JULIA DE MARZY (6) is seldom far from a fault but has undeniable means. If remaining wise, she can pose a threat to the selection, along with JOKE BLUE (9) and recent Bordeaux runner-up JEANETTE TY (8). After a much-needed comeback, JOLLITY GABY (11) could improve to challenge for a spot on the podium.

- IDOLE D’OURVILLE – Disqualified in class D at Vincennes over 2700m on 19 January. Battling to find best form and others are preferred
- ILLUSIVE GLORY – Disqualified in class D at Vincennes over 2700m on 28 December. Won well in June and can score again if smart
Summary: INDIAN PARK (5) wasted little time reconnecting with success after his soundness issues and his recent Bordeaux victory was good enough to suggest another forward showing is on the cards. Second-row starter ILLUSIVE GLORY (14) will make life difficult for the selection if proving diligent/avoiding disqualification. After encouraging recent displays, IDEALE DE LA COMTE (10) and HUELVA DUPEROUZEL (12) also have legitimate podium aspirations. IMAKO VERDERIE (7) completes the shortlist.

C1 – PRIX DE LA CAMARGUE – 2925m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000
- IBELIA DU LOISIR – Back under harness after running 3rd of 6 finishers in a Class F over track and trip on 12 January. Is an honest trotter but nevertheless appears to be taking on too much
- IRINA DU GLAY – Has done little of note for past 2 years, most recently 7th of 16 in a Class B under these conditions a weeks ago, and can be passed over
- INCROYABLE STAR – Sanctioned in a 2650m Vivaux Class F last weekend. Won twice here last summer but in present condition is not easy to recommend
- ISA MAUVE – Rather disappointing this winter, latterly 7th of 13 in a 2650m Marseille-Vivaux Class E last Sunday. Barefoot this time but others still easier to back
- HELIA DE BRUYERE – 3rd of 8 finishers in a claimer over course and distance 12 days ago. Steps up in category and may find the going a bit too tough this time
- INITIALE BLEUE – In cracking form over recent weeks, most recently 2nd of 10 in an amateurs Class G over course and distance 2 weeks ago. Is confirmed at this level and can play an important role
- ISIS PASSION – 9th of 13 to IZZIE PONCELET (13) in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Shoes on again and will have other priorities
- ILLARIA MADRIK – Surprise 5th of 14 in a Class E over course and distance 12 days ago before being disqualified for interference. Leading driver at the helm this time and can challenge for a place in the frame if he manages to keep her focused
- ISTRIA – Beat a number of these when securing a 2700m Class G here on 18 December. With a better trip this time, can apply the pressure on IZZIE PONCELET (13)
- ISIS DE SYVA – 5th over track and trip prior to running 4th of 13 to IZZIE PONCELET (13) in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago and should once again figure prominently
- HERNANIE DE GODREL – Sanctioned when going well in a 2150m amateurs Class F here a month back. Gives a good account here for the most part but still no more than a minor place prospect
- HIMALAYA TONIQUE – Debuts at Cagnes after finishing 8th of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes amateurs Class F a fortnight ago. Should appreciate this more even surface and will be expected to finish close
- IZZIE PONCELET – Fine servant that made short work of a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Has taken superbly to Cagnes conditions and has a realistic chance of imposing
- HAPPY DE NICE – Ran 2nd in amateur division before coming 6th of 16 in a 2700m Class F here 3 weeks ago. Cannot be considered a priority but is superbly-entered and can pleasantly surprise
Summary: Barring a blip in Marseille, IZZIE PONCELET (13) has otherwise been firing on all cylinders this winter and sports a new configuration as she bids to double up. Hugo Sorel will still want to be wary of the tough ISTRIA (9) who dominated the opposition here last month, and HIMALAYA TONIQUE (12) who has been entrusted to Paul Ploquin for the occasion. ILLARIA MADRIK (8) surprised here last time out and with Christophe Martens in the bike this time, can confirm.

- IL PRINCIPINO – Would have finished in the money had he not lost his action in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Reverts to a previous formula and will be no pushover if Nicolas Ensch manages to keep him focused
- ICARE DES CHAMPS – 8th of 16 in a 2650m Marseille-Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Has looked very ordinary for some time and with shoes on will have nothing to contribute
- IVY METAL – Returned to victorious ways in a 2600m Lyon-Parilly Class F on 1 December. Adores Cagnes and is thoroughly capable of imposing
- IN VIVO – 10th of 16, a place behind IL PRINCIPINO (2) in a Class F over track and trip 2.5 weeks ago. Seems a far cry from his best form and can be passed over
- IL VILLAGGIO – Sanctioned in a Class E under these conditions a month ago. Would be preferred barefoot
- ICARE DE LA DORETE – 4th of 13 behind IT’S EAGLE COGLAIS (15) in a 2150m amateurs Class F here on 12 January. Has been entrusted to David Békaert for first time and is unlikely to be far off the mark
- HUBERUS – 7th of 14 in a 2650m Marseille-Vivaux amateurs Class G last Sunday. Unexceptional since imposing in Corsica but is barefoot this time and should not be overlooked
- INCOGNITO FAC – Quality element making Cagnes debut after finishing 8th of 14 in a 2850m Vincennes Class E on 21 December. Form is not in doubt though and will be expected to bring the fight to IVY METAL (4)
- IL MIO – Sanctioned twice here prior to running 5th of 10 finishers in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Has decent references in the day’s configuration and is unlikely to go home empty-handed
- HIDALGO BOY – Has not put a foot wrong since the autumn break, most recently 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2950m Toulouse Class F 2.5 weeks ago, and has a realistic chance of finishing close
- HARLEY DES PRES – Encouraging 6th of 14 in a Class E under these conditions on 12 January but is unlikely to improve on that
- INNOCENT DU BOURG – 8th of 13 in a Class E over course and distance 2 weeks ago and has a lot more to find
- HANI BIRD – Would have finished closer than 4th in a claimer over course and distance 12 days ago had he not faulted in the straight. Obviously in better company this time but is still not to be written off
- IT’S EAGLE COGLAIS – Made up for early-January clinker when 2nd of 13 in a 2150m amateurs Class F here on 12 January. Has acquitted himself well in 3 of 4 here and the excellent entry will only work to his advantage
Summary: It didn’t take long for IVY METAL (4) to re-establish his credentials following a 10 months’ absence and, sporting a fresh configuration, should be able to confirm his recent success. He will nevertheless be opposed by INCOGNITO FAC (9) who should find conditions more to his liking here, and the well-entered IT’S EAGLE COGLAIS (15) who steps back into the professional ranks with a good hand to play. ICARE DE LA DORETE (7) ran 4th to the latter last time, is confirmed at a better level here, and should be in a position to give this a good go.

C3 – PRIX CHRISTIAN ALLILAIRE – 2925m (a2m) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000 - KING MOKO – Good, consistent type that ran 3rd of 12 finishers to KALENCIO FLAC (3) in a Class D over track and trip 12 days ago. Pitted against more accomplished horses this time but can still get a look-in
- KIROMAN – 10th of 12 finishers to KALENCIO FLAC (3), on re-entry, in a Class D over track and trip 12 days ago, and can be confidently passed over
- KALENCIO FLAC – Dynamic winner of a Class D over course and distance on 12 January. Shoes on this time but has already won twice over course and distance when shod and will have his supporters
- KEROZEN – 6th of 8, a place behind KANGALA DE FAEL (6), in a Class B over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Shoes on again though and best to hold off
- KINOA DU LIVIER – Failed to confirm Borely performance when 8th of 16 in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago and is not about to cause an upset
- KANGALA DE FAEL – Useful mare that ran 4th of 8 in a Class B over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Is not far from winning another but, in this company, may have to settle for a first-5 payout
- KIMBA DU NOYER – Respectable 5th of 8, a place behind KANGALA DE FAEL (6), in a Class B over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Little chance of imposing but can still pick up some prizemoney
- KAPUSHA MIP – Debuts at Cagnes after running 6th of 10 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C on 6 January. Has solid references in this category though and will be expected to trot her way onto the podium
- KENTUCKY WOOD – 4th of 14 to KEPI DU HOME (10) in a 2925m Class C here late last month. Will have found his feet at the new venue and is not incapable of going closer
- KEPI DU HOME – Made it 2 straight successes when courageously winning a Class C under these conditions on 28 December and has every chance of maintaining his perfect Cagnes record
- KOMPANY VINCENT – Last but one, having faulted early, behind KANGALA DE FAEL (6) in a Class B over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago, and Christophe Martens will be eager to put things right. Chance
- KOOL AND THE GANG – Has not been seen out since running 7th of 11 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Gr.3 last March. Is barefoot for re-entry but looks more a minor place prospect on first start back
Summary: KEPI DU HOME (10) is like a different horse since moving to the Riviera and his new trainer, David Bekaert, will be legitimately eyeing the hat-trick. KOMPANY VINCENT (11) won 3 in a row here during the summer and can make up for his recent performance if he gets off on the right foot. KAPUSHA MIP (8) faces a less difficult task this time and a place on the podium is well within her reach. KENTUCKY WOOD (9) appears to be back on the right road and, sporting pads this time, can play a leading role.

C4 – PRIX DE LA LORRAINE – 2925m (a2m) – Class B Race – Harness – EUR € 38,000 - JIGSAW PUZZLE – 3rd of 13, at 38/1, to JASMIN DU VALLON (7) in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to repeat but can still play a small part
- INFERNO PIPER – Makes first appearance since coming 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2650m Marseille-Vivaux Class F on 30 November. Has never been bested here and although unlikely to secure the Cagnes 3-timer, can still trot his way into the frame
- INCAHUASI – Failed to confirm Boxing Day performance when 11th of 16 in a Class F over track and trip 2.5 weeks ago. Shoes back on and not an obvious choice
- JUDICIOUS WINNER – Quality element but has yet to get into his stride this term, most recently 8th of 16 in a Class B under these conditions a week ago. Will be fit by now though, is unbeaten in the day’s configuration, and if there is a spoiler here, this is it
- JOLIE POUPEE – 6th of 7 finishers in a 2850m Vincennes Class E a fortnight ago. Makes first appearance for her new handler and debuts at Cagnes with a decent chance of finishing close
- JUST FOR LOVA – 10th of 13 in 3 January race of reference. Races first-time barefoot but others easier to support
- JASMIN DU VALLON – Made it 2 in a row when authoritatively winning a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Is undefeated with David Bekaert in the bike and looks set to stay that way
- JESON BOY – A model of consistency, latterly 2nd of 13 to JASMIN DU VALLON (7) in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. In the frame in all 5 starts here and once again looks a player
- IDEAL DE JEAN – Surprisingly below-par 7th of 13 to JASMIN DU VALLON in a Class C over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Enjoys a fine entry here, appreciates Cagnes, but others still preferred
Summary: Dynamic since last autumn and winner of 3 of his last 4 starts, JASMIN DU VALLON (7) has yet to taste defeat at Cagnes-sur-Mer and has every chance of pulling off the hat-trick. David Békaert will still be keeping one eye on the consistent JESON BOY (8) who ran 2nd to him earlier in the month, and INFERNO PIPER (2) who is unbeaten at the venue.

C5 – PRIX DE L’ANJOU – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000 - LADY DRY – Last but one behind LAIKA D’ESPACE (5) in a 2925m Class D here on 6 January. Twice a winner here but off the boil lately and others easier to back
- LILY ROSE – Superb early last season but has struggled over recent months, latterly sanctioned in a 2925m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago, and must re-establish her credentials
- LOVELY DAY CEKE – Has not been seen out since running last of 5 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class C last July. Is unbeaten in 2 here and is competitively-shod, but may need the race
- LEONA JENILOU – Finished last of 10, after faulting early, in a 2925m Class D here 2.5 weeks ago but can more than make amends if David Békaert assures her initial strides
- LAIKA D’ESPACE – Put a brace of sanctions behind her to run 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2925m Class D here on 6 January and, with stride in check, can have her day in the sun
- LYRE DE BEYLEV – Fine servant that won at Vivaux before coming 4th of 10 finishers behind LAIKA D’ESPACE (5) in a 2925m Class D here on 6 January. Breaks in front and has every chance of making first 5
- LAGUNE – Quickly sanctioned in a 2700m Vincennes Class D on 6 January. Has bags of ability though and can make a big splash if she takes to the new profile
- LICENCE CASTELETS – Versatile filly that opened her account with ease in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Races barefoot again and despite the wide draw, still looks competitively well-in
- LOVE ME PACA – Disappointing so far this winter, latterly sanctioned in a 2700m Class E here last week, and can be disregarded
- LOVELY HONEY – Placed in 2 prior to running 8th of 9 finishers behind LAZULITE GEDE (11) in a 2700m Class E here a week ago. Gets another crack at it but the draw will do her no favours
- LAZULITE GEDE – Decent 4th to LICENCE CASTELETS (8) here 3 weeks ago before faulting and coming 6th of 12 in a 2700m Class E, also here, 2 weeks later. Has merit and should not be written off
- LENA D’HERIPRE – In the frame in 4 of last 5, most recently runner-up to LICENCE CASTELETS (8) in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago. Forced to break from 2nd line but sports pads again and is thoroughly capable of picking up some prizemoney
Summary: Sanctioned on her ridden debut in Paris last month, LAIKA D’ESPACE (5) found Cagnes a more appealing hunting-ground next time and, with morale intact, can get her nose in front. She will still encounter resistance from the capable but complicated LAGUNE (7) who should find Cagnes conditions more to her liking. LICENCE CASTELETS (8) has taken to the new profile like a duck to water and looks marginally superior to the better-positioned LEONA JENILOU (4) whose ability cannot be called into question.

C6 – PRIX DU BERRI – 2925m (a2m) – Class E Race – Mounted – EUR € 26,000 - JINGKO DES BOCHARD – Ran 4th at Vincennes before coming 2nd of 6 finishers to KING DE PLAY (10) in a Class F over course and distance on 12 January. Takes on a marginally better lot this time but can still hold his own
- CLICK STARLIGHT – Debuts in France, and under the saddle, after coming 2nd of 7 under harness over a mile in Turin a fortnight ago. Can prove a handful but is unlikely to be far off the mark if he stays in stride
- KARLSON PASS – Useful sort but finished last of 14 behind JOKER DU MIDI (9) when being conditioned in a Class E over course and distance 3 weeks ago and would be preferred barefoot
- KRIS MARTIN – Debuts in the discipline after running 2nd of 14 in a harness Class D over course and distance on 12 January. Is clearly in shape and will not be far from the action if ability transitions
- KACEY BELL – 2nd of 12 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D a month ago. Has hardly put a foot wrong since starting to race barefoot and will be expected to contest the finish
- JALNO MADRIK – Put in a fine finish to come 5th of 11 in a Class F over course and distance on 21 December. Has never delivered in the day’s configuration but in current condition is easy to like for a minor place cheque
- IRASKA DUEM – Pleasant over recent months, latterly 5th of 16 in a 2700m Lyon-La Soie harness Class E a fortnight ago. Won her only start in the day’s configuration but may struggle in this company first time under the saddle
- ITALIANO DREAM – Gave a good account when 4th of 13 in a 2550m Beaumont Class F early-December. Comes here fresh, is confirmed at the venue, and is unlikely to disappoint. Place chance
- JOKER DU MIDI – No slouch on a good day but has looked ordinary of late, most recently 11th of 14 in a Class E over track and trip 3 weeks ago, and will have few takers
- KING DE PLAY – Made short work of a Class F over course and distance on 12 January. Seldom lets the side down in the day’s configuration and is unlikely to start now. Claim
Summary: Ideally entered at the limit of earnings, and a force under the saddle when focused, KING DE PLAY (10) won convincingly over course and distance recently and can expect the lion’s share of support. Runner-up to him that day, JINGKO DES BOCHARD (1) is plainly back on the right road and should again figure prominently, however she may first have to defer to KACEY BELL (5) who has enjoyed a productive winter in Paris, and ITALIANO DREAM (8) who sports a new configuration for the occasion.

C7 – PRIX DE LA PROVENCE – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 20,000 - KILLER CHARM – Undeniably capable but sanctioned in a 2650m Saint-Galmier Class E last Sunday. With some luck in running though can make his presence felt
- KAOLIK DE GUEZ – Complicated but talented type that won a 2325m Toulouse Class E 2.5 weeks ago. Is head-and-shoulders better than most here and, if focused, should have this in the bag
- KATMAI – Spirited sort that reassured at Marseille-Vivaux last Sunday, winning a 2650m Class E. Well-placed behind the car and with application can bring the fight to KAOLIK DE GUEZ (2)
- KOTO DE PIENCOURT – Last but one, on return to competition, in a 2300m Marseille-Borely Class E on 2 December. Barefoot again but still looks race-rusty
- KRYSTAL PALACE – Sanctioned, at 117/1, in a 2925m monté Class F here on 12 January and is unlikely to bring anything to the party
- KELISSA D’AVE – 5th of 14 in a 2925m Class E here a week ago. Is not the easiest of horses to handle but on her current trajectory will be competitive for a first-5 cheque
- KOOL DU CHATELET – 6th of 11 finishers in a Class E over course and distance 2.5 weeks ago. Put on a decent show that day and the slight dip in category will only work to his advantage. Place prospect
- KAROLYNE DE MALAC – 2nd over 2925m here prior to finishing last but one in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago. Reined by a Cagnes specialist for the occasion and is unlikely to disappoint
- KASSIOPEE NANIE – Unable to confirm good Cherbourg performance when sanctioned early in a 2925m Class E here on Boxing Day. Has yet to deliver when barefoot and is not about to buck the trend
- KOMSI KOMSA – 3rd of 11 behind KAROLYNE DE MALAC (8) here a month back before being sanctioned when set to finish in the money in a 2925m Class E here a week ago. Handed a tough draw but in this small field can get in on the action
- KAIROS DU GOUTIER – Ran 3rd in a Class F here before finishing last of 8 in a 2925m Class E, also here, 2 weeks ago. Goes barefoot this time but others still easier to back
Summary: Although sanctioned as often as not and unconfirmed racing left-handed, KAOLIK DE GUEZ (2) has nevertheless won 4 of the 5 races he has finished (each at a different track) and can make this his own if he turns. Leading the opposition, the well-placed KATMAI (3) won here last month only to be disqualified, but has since made amends at Vivaux and will be no easy touch. Runner-up here before enduring a tough trip at Vivaux next time, KAROLYNE DE MALAC (8) starts wide but will be reined by David Bekaert on this occasion and should not be far from the action if he keeps him trotting. KOOL DU CHATELET (7) is better than his recent performance would suggest and is most certainly worth retaining.

- ILLUSTRE BLUE – 2nd of 13 behind the good Izzie Poncelet in a 2650m Vivaux Class F 10 days ago and can play a leading role if he takes to the new profile
- ILANA DE BEYLEV – Capable mare that came 4th of 12, a place behind GILOU DE FONTAINE (6), in a 2650m amateurs Class G at Marseille-Vivaux 10 days ago. On front line but with shoes back on will have little to offer
- GENERAL JOB – Below-par last but one in a 2700m Class G here a month back but did win at Vivaux last time in the amateur division and from the front row can give this a good go
- GAETANE DU VIVIER – 2nd of 16 to FIFTY WINNER (14) in a similar event here on 14 December. Has been knocking at the door for some time and will be rewarded with success one of these days. Chance
- GILOU DE FONTAINE – Reassuring 3rd of 12 in a 2650m amateurs Class G at Marseille-Vivaux 10 days ago. Has yet to deliver at Cagnes but is in his category and should not be ruled out
- HAVATAR – 4th over shorter here on 21 December before finishing last of 8 over track and trip 2 weeks ago when being prepared for this. Barefoot for the occasion and can get in on the action
- HELIOT DES LANDES – Could well have won an amateurs Class G over course and distance mid-December had he not been denied a run. If still on the boil, and kept out of trouble, he should be in a position to open his 2025 account
- IBRAHIC – Last of 9 finishers, on return from a spell, behind GILOU DE FONTAINE (6) in a 2650m amateurs Class G at Marseille-Vivaux 10 days ago. Will have progressed for the run, goes barefoot on this occasion, but would be better off in the claiming category
- GUIBSON DU SOLNAN – 7th of 8 finishers behind ISBA BESNOT (12) in a 2150m amateurs Class F here on 12 January and will have few friends
- FALQUERO – Runner-up twice here before finishing 4th in a 2150m amateurs Class F, also here, on 12 January only to be disqualified. Has been reconfigured but incurs the handicap this time and chances appear limited
- ISBA BESNOT – Good 3rd of 13 in a 2150m amateurs Class F here on 12 January. Forced to start on 2nd row but still has the wherewithal to finish close, especially with the talented Kassandra Fresneau in the bike
- INDRO PARK – Distant last of 8 finishers, on return from an extended layoff, in a 2150m amateurs Class F here on 12 January and is going to need another run
- FIFTY WINNER – Beat a number of these, at 69/1, over course and distance mid-December before finishing 6th of 16 in an amateurs Class F under these conditions 3 weeks ago. On the back row but has been reconfigured and looks good enough to make first 5
Summary: Very useful in this category but rather unlucky here mid-December, HELIOT DES LANDES (8) has been afforded ample time to recuperate and can win this if kept out of trouble. Amateur specialist, GAETANE DU VIVIER (5) finished ahead of him that day but Mickaël Cormy’s horse still looks a marginally better bet. ILLUSTRE BLUE (2) has demonstrated very good aptitude for the amateur category, showed his form in better company recently, and must not be underestimated. ISBA BESNOT (12) gave a reassuring account over shorter here last time and even though 25m worse off, she reverts to a proven configuration and will have her chances.
SELECTIONS – HELIOT DES LANDES (8) – GAETANE DU VIVIER (5) – ILLUSTRE BLUE (2) – ISBA BESNOT (12)
