  57. ADWAN – Regained form/momentum in 3 outings off his current mark, the latest (3rd) in a course-and-distance handicap on 10 January. High on the shortlist
  58. IRISHKAMAYA – Consistent but hard to win with – finished 2nd in 6 of 7 handicap appearances off this mark, including 3 consecutive recent starts. Wouldn’t be winning out of turn after her latest 2nd in a course-and-distance handicap on 10 January

  63. KAMETA – Experienced but inconsistent hard-knocker. Runner-up in a 1300m handicap at this venue in December so shouldn’t be hastily condemned for finishing 8th in a course-and-distance handicap on 10 January

  68. SHAMYA – Experienced but inconsistent handicapper. Best watched for now after finishing a well-beaten 12th in a 1700m PSF handicap at Pornichet on 7 January
Summary: LAURA TREZY (7) wasn’t winning out of turn when quickening well in the latter stages to score at Chantilly last month and a resultant 2kg penalty may not be enough to prevent her from following up. IRISHKAMAYA (6) deserves a reward for her consistency and few (if any) would begrudge her victory after 6 runner-up finishes in her last 7 starts. Both ADWAN (5) and KELLY KEY (3) are competitive off their current marks so shouldn’t be underestimated.

  84. TILL WE DIE – Consistent and versatile veteran mare with sound references/form credentials at this level on turf and PSF, including a last-start 4th on this course in a 1300m handicap on 19 December. On the shortlist
Summary: Consistent LE ROCKEUR (4) finished behind last-start winner COSMO BEAU (8) on this track last month but should avenge that defeat on 2,5kg better terms. 137. SKADOOSH – Did not show his best when 7th in a handicap at Lyon-La Soie over 1800m on 22 January. Capable of better and is not out of it
  138. TANTOMILE – Unreliable and was 15th in a handicap over this course and distance on 23 January. Won a Conditions race before that and can bounce back to score
  139. RUE CUSTINE – Disappointing last run when tenth in a handicap over this track and trip on 18 December. Capable of playing a minor role
  140. CHASUBLE – Has struggled of late and was 12th in a Conditions race over this course and distance on 23 October. Returns from a break and could need this run
Summary: TANTOMILE (6) made a winning start to 2025 and is best judged on that performance than her subsequent failure (15th) in a course-and-distance handicap. She is good value to make amends in the ‘Lucky Last’ at the primary expense of familiar foe SCORCH (2) whose consistency ought to be rewarded sooner rather than later. HONEY BADGER (3) and SPINELLO (1) are inconsistent but undeniably capable of challenging for a spot on the podium.

Summary: REDPEARL (3) did not really turn up at Deauville last time and is better than his placing suggests. He is worth another chance back on the turf and can be slightly preferred to LA QUINTA (8), who ran some decent races in this division last season. FALCON SPIRIT (2) was far from disgraced in a claimer at Pornichet last time out and has an each-way chance. YSOIE (7) is possibly more effective on the turf too and can stake a claim.
