She’s Bulletproof to returnin The Heath at Caulfield

Connections of She’s Bulletproof have decided against launching her spring campaign in Group 1 company, instead opting to kick off in the Group 3 The Heath (1100m) at Caulfield on August 30.
The mare was briefly considered for the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at The Valley on September 6, but trainer Charlotte Littlefield said her proven affinity with Caulfield – highlighted by a gallant second in February’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate behind Jimmysstar – made The Heath a more appealing starting point.
“I just don’t want to aim too high to begin with as the name of the game is to win races, so we felt The Heath is a really good kick-off point for her,” Littlefield said.
“She obviously goes very well at the track and that will dictate whether we go to Group 1 level after that or aim a little lower.
“We have lofty ambitions with her, but we just want to get the first race done and we’ll go from there.”
She’s Bulletproof has had three runs at Caulfield, with a win in a BM64 in 2024 and then a second placing in the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) behind Niance last spring followed by her brave runner-up effort in the Oakleigh Plate in February. She’s Bulletproof contested an 800-metre jumpout at Pakenham on Tuesday and Littlefield said she was delighted with her unplaced effort. “We are very happy with how she’s come back,” she said. “She threw a few curve balls earlier on in the prep but she’s really going the right way and her jumpout the other day was very pleasing.
“Ben Allen said that if he’d pressed the button, he said that she could have exploded, so that’s good feedback. It was good to hear as it was a Soft track and that’s not her preferred surface.”
