R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX JEAN-PAUL BERTRAND – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000
- MERCURE D’ELLE – Made it 3 on the trot when routing the opposition in a 2850m Class E over the inner course a month ago. Faces a tougher challenge this time but with Mathieu Mottier in the bike will be afforded every chance
- MISTHOS CHRISTAL – No slouch on a good day but has yet to show much liking for Vincennes and others preferred
- MELLOW SPEED – Highly-impressive winner of a 2100m Class E over the other course late last month. Takes on a better lot this time, and will have hind shoes fitted, but must not be underestimated
- MYTHIQUE JOSSELYN – Can prove hard to use but has demonstrated considerable flair. Is barefoot as he was when 3rd under there conditions early last month and has the wherewithal to impose
- MANNINEN SEVEN – Put in an excellent showing on 14 January when dominating a 2700m Class E here. Hind shoes off once more and, on good behaviour, will be competitive at the business end of affairs
- MISTER FOURCADE – Modest colt making first appearance since early-November. Has never produced the goods at Vincennes and, even though reconfigured, still looks an outsider
- MICHEL MARTIN – Gave a good account on re-entry, coming 5th in a 2550m Bordeaux class D late last month. Matthieu Abrivard in the bike this time but still not a priority
- MISSILE DE TAGOR – 6th of 8, a place behind MICHEL MARTIN (7), in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D late last month, and has no possible chance
- MARCUS BERRY – Put a trio of eliminations behind him to easily win a 2175m Class E here on 20 January and, provided Benjamin Rochard keeps him trotting, can confirm
Summary: Nicolas Bazire is particularly well-represented here with 3 runners, his best hope lying with the barefoot, well-placed, and blue-blooded, MYTHIQUE JOSSELYN (4) who was unlucky not to finish closer here last time. He will be opposed though by the complicated MARCUS BERRY (9) who was dynamic over 2175m here 2.5 weeks ago. Bazire’s other 2 runners are also in with a shout, MANNINEN SEVEN (5) having stormed up here in mid-January, and MELLOW SPEED (3) who will be reconfigured after having imposed with ease over the inner course last week.

C2 – PRIX GERARD BRAMI – 2700m (a1m1/2) – – Mounted – EUR € 46,000 - KAP ORNE – Ran 2nd over 2175m here before coming 5th to KING DU RIL (3) in a Class D over course and distance on 31 December. Sports a fresh formula but has too much ground to make up
- KIANNICK OF NOUIC – Returns to a discipline he appreciates, and is barefoot for the occasion, but cannot be regarded a contender
- KING DU RIL – Tenacious winner of a Class D over course and distance on 31 December prior to being prepped under harness at Nantes. Is hard to knock when barefoot and focused and must be taken seriously
- KAIROUAN GLAM – 3rd to KING DU RIL (3) in a Class D over course and distance on 31 December, prior to an Angers harness conditioner 2.5 weeks ago. Shod to preference this time and, with application, can play a part
- KOMEDIE SOMOLLI – 3rd in a pair of Class Ds under these conditions before running 5th in a Class C. Drops back to a more reasonable level and can get a look in
- KRISTO STAR – Twice failed to deliver in better company after having won a Class E over track and trip in November, and others easier to back
- KANSAS DU HOCTI – Freshened up for this nicely under harness at Cordemais on 14 January. Boasts fine references over track and trip and can make the frame this time
- KRONOS DE VANDEL – Justifiably well-regarded element that ran 2nd to KAVIASE (11) in a Class D over course and distance on 19 January. Benjamin Rochard takes over from an injured Paul Ploquin and can again compete for a place on the podium
- KAISER CHANCE – Showed improvement when 3rd in a harness Class F at Grenade-sur-Garonne on 25 January and returns to the monte code with little to offer
- KLASSIC DREAM – Like a horse reborn since switching codes. Good 3rd in a Class D under these conditions on 21 December, comes here fresh, and should again figure prominently
- KAVIASE – Flew up in her last 2, both under these conditions. Has won 4 of 6 with Alexandre Abrivard and is easy to like for the hat-trick
- KALMIO DE LOU – Has not imposed for some time but showed his form under harness in Lyon. Has been freshly reconfigured and looks a player first time out
Summary: A joy to watch under these conditions, KAVIASE (11) ran out an easy winner of her last 2 starts and, as long as she stays trotting, will take all the beating. A defeated but courageous runner-up to her that day, KRONOS DE VANDEL (8) reverts to a previous formula and can play a role, but may first have to defer to a reconfigured KALMIO DE LOU (12) who benefits from a super entry for his monte debut under Mathieu Mottier, and the barefoot KANSAS DU HOCTI (7) who went close in 3 of his last 4 starts under these conditions.

C3 – PRIX MAURICE ET JEROME BERNARDET – 2100m (a1m1/4) – Class D – Harness – EUR € 40,000 - LOVE GLORY – Nicely-engaged mare with 3 races under her belt following the break. Gets to race barefoot for the first time and has yet to disappoint for Benjamin Rochard. Claim
- LUDIVINE DE BAILLY – Has shown a different side to herself since the autumn. Opened her Vincennes account in a 2175m Class E last weekend, but sports pads this time and will struggle to repeat
- LOZEN DE BANVILLE – Returns to racing with pads after running 3rd in a 2700m claimer here in early-December and is not about to cause an upset
- LA GUARDIA – Has not been seen out since running 3rd in a claimer over course and distance on 25 November. Benefits from a terrific draw and entry, and steps back up in category with a decent card to play
- LUNE LUMALO – Got back in the game last week when comfortably securing a 2050m Class E at
Lyon-La Soie. Is unlikely to open her Vincennes account but is well-positioned and, with Alexis Collette reining, should not be overlooked - LUTECE D’OUVILLE – Failed to pull off the hat-trick when unplaced in a Class D over course and distance late last month. Is patently better than the result would imply and cannot be ruled out
- LEVADIA – Lost her way after twice imposing under the saddle here last winter and is unlikely to generate much interest
- LILYROSE WIND – Moderate mare making first appearance since late-October. Sports a fresh configuration but still not a concern
- LYRE D’ERABLE – Missed out by little on Vincennes debut in early-December, running 2nd in a 2700m Class E. Is back barefoot after being prepped at Mauquenchy and will not be far from the action if David Thomain defies the draw
- LOU D’ECROVILLE – Unremarkable trotter that has done nothing of note here this winter and is not about to start now
- LUCKY STAR JIEL – Capable on a good day but has been out of sorts lately and will need to get her house in order
- LADY OF DURBUY – Disappointing in both starts here this winter. Appears to be some way off her best and can be passed over
- LIBERTE HAUFOR – Easily won at Amiens in November before repeating on Vincennes debut in early-December. Unluckily eliminated here on Christmas Eve but Damien Bonne will be eager to put things right
- LUNA DE JOUDES – Lost her action in a Class E over course and distance on 24 December. Did not win the draw-lottery this time but will still have her chances if kept out of harm’s way
- LAURENE DE BAILLY – Showed some improvement when 6th in a 2850m Class D here on 19 January but still has a lot more to find
- LIANGA – Has a pair of runs under her belt after the layoff. Has pulled a rough number but will be barefoot this time and can figure prominently if Mathieu Mottier positions her early
Summary: Eased gently back into competition, LOVE GLORY (1) races barefoot for her first goal of the winter and, considering the entry, looks a marginally better bet than a first-time barefoot, but poorly-placed, LIBERTE HAUFOR (13) who has won 2 of her last 3 starts. Close 2nd on her only start here, LYRE D’ERABLE (9) is forced to break wide but still looks competitively well in. LUNA DE JOUDES (14) did not enjoy the best of trips here on Christmas Eve but has had ample time to recalibrate and will not be far off the mark if Alain Laurent successfully navigates the start.

C4 – PRIX DOMINIQUE SAVARY – 2700m (a1m1/2) – – Mounted – EUR € 56,000 - IVANHOE JARZEEN – Won 3 from 4 prior to running 2nd in a 3000m Nantes Class F on 19 January. Has yet to make his mark at Vincennes but in current condition is hard to ignore
- IN LOVE DE VALMIER – Blows hot and cold and is better than his recent Toulouse result would suggest. Is entrusted to Alexandre Abrivard this time and will be easy to recommend
- IAGO DE SENOVILLE – Surprise 3rd to IKITORI (16) in 24 December race of reference before being prepped under harness at Nantes on 19 January. Is barefoot for first time here but still not a priority
- IRON BIRD DEVOL – Got off the monte mark at Pontchateau on 21 December, then repeated with authority at Angers 3 weeks ago, and is unlikely to disappoint at the business end of the race
- ISUTAH – Gives a good account for the most part and is proven here, but is clearly being aimed too high
- IMHOTEP BUROIS – Raced better in a Bordeaux Class E 11 days ago than his 5th place would suggest. Is confirmed here and will have a legitimate claim
- IBILI D’OCCAGNES – Can trot, and has references over course and distance, but eliminated in last 2 and others easier to trust
- HELIOS D’ANCLEMAX – Honest type with respectable monte form. Has not been seen out since early-November but will be barefoot, with Anthony Barrier reining, and should not be entirely disregarded
- HOLD THE LINE – Distant 4th to IVANHOE JARZEEN (1) at Nantes on 12 January, subsequently failed to confirm later in the month, and is not a concern
- IRIS DU PERCHE – Makes just 2nd monte appearance after having failed to make any impact in either code for some time, and can be ruled out
- IXOR DE L’ITON – Struggled to make his presence felt behind IKITORI (16) in a Class D here 3 weeks ago but is still capable on a good day and cannot be discounted
- INSIDE MAN – Solid on only monte start, in 2022, and returns to the discipline shod and with no possible chance
- IQUITA VILI – 5th to IKITORI (16) on Christmas Eve before coming 3rd to IVANHOE JARZEEN (1) at Nantes on 12 January. Mathieu Mottier in the irons this time and has a decent chance of contesting the finish
- IL TROTTE JARL – Showed improvement when 5th in a Nantes Class E on 25 January. Adrien Lamy reining this time but still not an obvious choice
- HARRYBEAU DE COUET – Has been holding his own in decent company of late, most recently a Class D here on New Year’s Day. Is not about to create an upset but can still pick up some prizemoney
- IKITORI – Quality trotter with a lot going for him here. Has been hard to knock lately when fully-shod and can expect to garner the lion’s share of support
Summary: Very hard to fault in this branch of the business, and ideally-engaged at the limit of earnings, IKITORI (16) has been most impressive lately and is in with a realistic chance of imposing. Andrea Roussel will still be keeping a watchful eye on the complicated but talented IVANHOE JARZEEN (1) who races barefoot for the first time at Vincennes, and IQUITA VILI (13) who ran 3rd to him at Nantes last month. Absent from monte racing for over 2 years, IMHOTEP BUROIS (6) has returned to the discipline in good shape and returns to Vincennes with every expectation of picking up a place cheque.

C5 – PRIX GUY LUX ET LEON ZITRONE – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 75,000 - JOLYDOLE – Won a Class D under these conditions, from pillar to post, on 19 December. Was being prepped here last month, but is barefoot this time and unlikely to be far off the mark
- IDYLLE DU PERSIL – Useful sort but is still clearly in conditioning-mode and best to keep one’s powder dry
- JAFLOSA GIRL – Has taken her game to a new level this winter, winning 2 of last 3, both over course and distance. Is in better company this time but should nevertheless hold her own
- DIABEL – Drops down the class-ladder after producing a fine finish in a 2100m Gr.3 here on 25 January, having previously been denied a run behind JALENDRA DE MALAC (10) on Boxing Day, and should logically play an active part in the finish
- INES DE LA ROUVRE – Has ample ability but has not been firing on all cylinders this winter and can be passed over
- JEZABELLE BIE – Has been biting off more than she can chew in both codes this winter. Is competitively-shod but would have better prospects in the other code
- HISA DU MARGAS – Produced a 30-1 surprise when winning a Class D over 2100m here on 10 December. Has not been seen out since but is clearly in competition-mode and will generate some interest
- JOLIE SURPRISE – Would have finished in the mix 12 days ago here in a 2100m Gr.3 had she kept her action together. David Thomain in the bike this time and will be mindful of setting the record straight
- HIGH PROPULSION – No champion but consistently gives her best. Surprise 5th of 14 to JALENDRA DE MALAC (10) on 17 January and, while not a contender, should still be good enough to make first 5
- JALENDRA DE MALAC – Quality mare reunited with Mathieu Mottier who has won 2 of 3 with her. Is patently at the top of her game and will be legitimately well-backed to complete the 3-timer
- IMPLORA MAUZUN – Has hardly put a foot wrong since returning in the autumn. Comes here fresh and, in her code of preference this time, looks main danger to JALENDRA DE MALAC (10)
- GREAT TIGRESS – Hardy mare with an excellent entry here, but has not been seen out since late-September and is not about to spring any surprises
Summary: A wonderful campaigner that goes over any trip, JALENDRA DE MALAC (10) was highly-impressive under these conditions 3 weeks ago, making it 2 on the trot, and with Mathieu Mottier reining can pull off the hat-trick. IMPLORA MAUZUN (11) has not been seen out since early-December but will have been kept on the boil and is not about to let the side down. Considerably more talented than her recent run behind Alexis Grimault’s mare would suggest, and barefoot this time, JOLYDOLE (1) will be no pushover if she replicates here 19 January performance. Good 5th in the Gr.3 Prix Helen Johansson late last month, DIABEL (4) is not one to be undervalued.

C6 – PRIX JACQUES ORLIAGUET – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class R Claiming Amateur Riders – Harness – EUR € 18,000 - MASSILIO BLOND – Is confirmed in this category but has been showing too much spirit this winter and others easier to trust
- LA MAGIE DU PERSIL – Disappointing on the whole this winter. Has just the one race in him since the spell and even though barefoot still looks out of her depth
- MILADY MADRIK – Very much at home in the claiming division but has not raced since 13 December and appears to have too much to do
- LEONARDO TURGOT – Failed to make the grade on claiming debut here last week and can be confidently ruled out
- LOUPIAC DE GODREL – Looked very ordinary when 7th in 30 January race of reference and would be preferred competitively-shod
- L’AUDACE – Back in the capital after twice acquitting herself well in the provinces late last year. Has not been seen since but will have been specifically prepared for this and can finish in the mix
- LUNE DU DOUET – Showed moderate improvement when 5th behind LORD DE BANVILLE (10) in a 2100m claimer here last week. Has ground to make up though and represents a minor place chance at best
- LARGO DE JOUDES – Twice a claiming winner last autumn. Has a race under his belt since the spell, is barefoot this time, and looks thoroughly capable of playing a prominent part
- LANNISTER D’AVRIL – Showed twice last month his liking for the claiming category. Has yet to deliver over 2700m here, however in this company looks a contender
- LORD DE BANVILLE – Missed out by the smallest of margins in a 2100m claimer here last week. May just have found his mark and Alice Bourgoin will be keen to prove the point
- L’ORANGE – Hardy mare with decent form at a superior level. Should not be hastily-judged for recent elimination and can be brought back into the fold. Chance
- LALBANE STAR – Dead-heated for 3rd, a place behind LANNISTER D’AVRIL (9), in a 2100m claimer here on 14 January. Benefits from a good entry and should not be ignored
Summary: LORD DE BANVILLE (10) showed a different side to himself over shorter here a week ago, on his first start in the claiming division and, even with front pads fitted, can finally get back in the winners’ enclosure. Successful in both codes here this winter, L’ORANGE (11) looks particularly competitive at this level. In the frame in his last 2 starts, LANNISTER D’AVRIL (9) has been reconfigured for his return to 2700m and is plainly close to his race. Runner-up on her only appearance under these conditions, L’AUDACE (6) returns to Paris in fine shape and looks capable of playing a leading role.

C7 – PRIX ANDRE THERON – 2175m (a1m1/4) – Class C – Mounted – EUR € 46,000 - MONA GALAA – Showed promise early last season but subsequently went off the boil. Starts for first time since October and is the weak link here
- MINILADY DE CHOC – Clearly a promising filly but ran an uneasy 4th to MATA HARI (9) in a 2700m Class D here on 19 January. Form is not in question and while unlikely to get her nose in front, can still play a small part
- MY AMERICA – Won over track and trip on monte debut last May, but has been rather disappointing since and even with front pads fitted is not about to spice things up
- MAGGIOTTA – Honest filly that always gives her best but has yet to excel over the main course. Is barefoot this time but others still preferred
- MONEY MONEY PIYA – Takes to the monte code for first time, reconfigured and with Anthony Barrier aboard. Has shown considerable potential in the other discipline and can get straight down to business
- MARION D’HAFLING – Conditioned under harness here on 17 January after having failed to live up to expectations on Boxing Day. Talent is not in question and will be no easy touch if Benjamin Rochard keeps her focused
- MADONE DU TRIEUX – Can prove a handful but ran 2nd to a very good horse over 2200m here a month back. Is arguably better over the inner course but is barefoot for the first time and could pleasantly surprise
- MILLESIMA – Serious filly with a bright future. Takes a jump in category but sports a new configuration and, if applied, can make this her own
- MATA HARI – Made short work of her monte debut when winning a 2700m Class D by a country mile here on 19 January. Hind shoes back on but still a leading contender
Summary: Winner of 3 from 4 starts to date, latterly in good order over course and distance in November, MILLESIMA (8) may not have not been seen out since, but she has been reconfigured for the first time and is easy to fancy for the win. Mathieu Mottier will still be wary of the complicated, and well-engaged, MATA HARI (9) who sports modified shoeing after having romped over longer on her monte debut here recently. New to the discipline, but reconfigured for the occasion, MONEY MONEY PIYA (5) has shown enough under harness to be considered a player first time in the ridden discipline. MARION D’HAFLING (6) has considerable monte promise and will be more competitively-shod this time.

C8 – PRIX GUY DE LA BROSSE – 2850m (a2m) – Class B – Harness – EUR € 52,000 - FALSTAFF FONT – Won under these conditions last June. Prepped for this under the saddle 3 weeks ago and, barefoot this time, cannot be discounted
- LIONEL MEARAS – Ran 2nd to KILLER RAIN (5) here on Christmas Day, his first French start. Was given a monte conditioner 3 weeks ago, but others still preferred
- LEZZO FIGHTER – Talented sort but has been completely off the boil lately and will be shod for the occasion. Disregard
- OLYMPUS DRAGON – Quality Belgian element that ran 4th to FALSTAFF FONT (1) here last June. Prepared nicely for this in Victoria Park, will be shod as he was last summer and, although not a priority, cannot be written off either
- KILLER RAIN – Won over course and distance on Vincennes bow in early-December, then repeated on Christmas Day over 2700m. Steps up in category but still looks a serious proposition
- FARAMIR AS – Steps up in category after running surprise 4th to FLY TOP (8) in a 2700m Class C here on 4 January, however a repeat seems most unlikely
- FORCE OF NATURE – Gave a fine account behind FLY TOP (8) here in early-January only to be subsequently disqualified. Alexandre Abrivard in the bike this time but still not a concern
- FLY TOP – Made up for Gr.3 Prix Oscar Collard disappointment when picking up victory after the elimination of LEGACY JIEL (9) who had just headed him in a 2700m Class C a month back. Is plainly in top shape and must be respected
- LEGACY JIEL – Not the most reliable but can trot. Would have finished 4th behind LOULOU DAB (15) last month had he stayed in stride, and will have his supporters
- LEADER D’AIMTE – Honest type with decent credentials over 2850m of the main track. Ran 4th to LOULOU DAB (15) in 15 January race of reference and can get in on the action once again
- LAGNU MAG – 46 starts and yet to lose his maiden tag. Ran 6th in 15 January race of reference and is unlikely to make his presence felt
- FIRST TIME ROC – Gave a respectable account on return to Paris in mid-January, running 4th in a Class B under these conditions. Is not about to win this but can still pick up a cheque
- LAHIRE DE NAPPES – Valiant runner-up to LOULOU DAB (15) in a 2700m Class B here in mid-January. Has form at a superior level and will be expected to finish in the thick of things
- LOBBING DE BLARY – Consistent for the most part, and most recently 5th to LOULOU DAB (15) in a 2700m Class B here in mid-January, but will struggle to repeat
- LOULOU DAB – Has gone from strength to strength this winter, latterly flying up in a 2700m Class B here, and will not be easy to oppose
- LAST MAN – Put on a good show here in late-December, coming 3rd in a Class B over track and trip and, with form maintained, can again make the frame
Summary: Undefeated in 4 starts here this winter, two of them over 2850m, LOULOU DAB (15) stylishly imposed last month, despite hanging, and once again looks the horse to beat. KILLER RAIN (5), however, has taken superbly to Vincennes conditions and legitimately bids for the 3-timer. Nicely-engaged here, and clearly in shape, LAST MAN (16) will be reunited with his handler and should not disappoint. FLY TOP (8) has returned to France at the top of his game and looks competitive for a place cheque, as does the reconfigured LAHIRE DE NAPPES (13) who won the Gr.3 Open 4 Ans under these very conditions in late-November.

- NITRO DEUGE – Disqualified on debut in class F at Machecoul over 2700m on 1 February. Capable of improvement but others are preferred
Summary: An interesting first event. NAPOLI’S GIRL (13) fluffed her lines on debut with a disqualification, but she is highly rated and could make amends for that defeat. NEFERTITI PIYA (5) was not disgraced on debut and, with improvement expected, should be a lively danger this time around. NAVAH MERCURY (3) showed some improvement in her second start and could have more to offer. NASHVILLE TURGOT (12) makes her debut but has been prepared for this race and would not be a surprise winner.

- MALOU DE LA ROUVRE – Disqualified in class E at Cabourg over 2750m on 8 December. Tries barefoot and could be the surprise package of the race
- MISS MOUROTAISE – Has some fair form and finished fifth in class F at Cabourg over 2750m on 6 December. Might earn some mnor money
- MELLINA DE MAI – Successful in a class G at this track over 2875m on 10 January. Tries barefoot and can follow up but does have disqualification issues
Summary: A very open race. MARIE DE L’AUNAY (3) gets the vote to score based off a good last run over a similar distance at this course. She should have to fight off many dangers and probably the best of them could be MALICE DU GERS (7), who is in good form and ready to score. MARIE DES BAUX (8) is consistent and quite capable of winning. MENEUSE DE HOUELLE (1) has shown improvement of late and is another that could be worth considering.
