C1 – PRIX DU PONT D’ARCOLE – 2875m (a2m) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 12,000 |
1. HUGOLINO – Drops in category after coming 6th of 9 finishers in a 2550m Reims Class D early-June. Can claim a solid amateur record and must be duly respected
2. HARMONIOUS – 2nd of 10 in a 2825m amateurs Class G at Le Croisé-Laroche earlier in the month. Boasts excellent credentials in this category and can play a leading role
3. HELVIRA – Never far from faulting but has bags of ability at this level, latterly demolishing a 2750m La Capelle Class E 8 days ago and will have a lot to offer if Danny Mahieu keeps her trotting
4. HUTA JAZZ – Has not won for over a year but has returned in excellent shape, latterly 4th of 15 in a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys and, although not a priority, is still worth watching
5. HADRIEN MERITE – Sanctioned in a 2825m monté Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche late-May. Has other priorities and can be ruled out
6. IL MAGNIFICO – Left a good impression at Caen before faulting, when never comfortable, in a 2800m Chartres Class F 10 days ago. New driver at the helm and can win this if he gets him off on the right foot
7. FLEUR DE VANILLE – 5th of 16, at 93/1, in a 2100m Vincennes amateurs Class F mid-month, but a repeat seems improbable
8. HURRICANE WIND – Has not been seen out since trotting 5th of 17 in a 3000m Borély Class E last October but hails from a stable going good-guns and even with an extra 25m to travel, still looks competitive for a first-5 cheque
9. GITAN DE GUEZ – Pleased on his amateur debut across town 2 months ago, has produced 2 decent runs since and, shod as he was at Vincennes, should not be overlooked
10. GALON D’AMIRAL – Has not enjoyed the best of fortune lately, most recently faulting in a 2650m Laon Class F last Sunday. Seldom seen in this class of race but is confirmed and, with application, can have a say in the outcome
11. ISLA MUJERES – Kicked 2024 off nicely but has since gone off the boil, most recently 9th of 13 in a 1800m Class E at La Capelle 2 weeks ago, and can expect to have few takers
12. EROS DU BRISSE – Very disappointing this year, latterly 7th of 11 in a 2400m Amiens Class E last weekend, and even with 4 pads fitted, has no possible chance
13. HELLO JOHN – 2nd of 13 in a 2800m Class F at Villedieu-les-Poëles 3 weeks ago. Is confirmed here, is clearly in form, and even from the 2nd line, can play an important role
14. FRICHTI – Last but one, when preparing for this, in a 2850m Vincennes amateurs Class F 11 days ago. Hind shoes off this time but others still preferred
Summary: Nicely entered on the front line here, and partnered by Piet Van Pollaert, IL MAGNIFICO (6) reverts to his preferred configuration for his amateur debut and looks eminently capable of getting straight down to business. There will be opposition though from recent La Capelle winner HELVIRA (3), and the reliable and performant HARMONIOUS (2), both of which break in front. HELLO JOHN (13) is 25m worse off but he put on a good show last time out and looks a player once more.

C2 – PRIX DE L’OBSERVATOIRE – 2875m (a2m) – Class B Race – Mounted – EUR € 52,000 |
1. LIKE A BIRD STAR – 7th of 8, on comeback, in a 2750m harness Class D at La Capelle a fortnight ago. Front pads fitted and will be worth monitoring as she takes her first public monté steps
2. LABEL DE LARRE – Lost his maiden status in a 2550m Reims Class E mid-month but takes on a tougher bunch this time and chances limited
3. LUKAS D’OLIVERIE – Sanctioned as often as not but has ability. Unraced since faulting in a 2700m Vincennes Class B in January though and even with front pads fitted, is still expected to need the race
4. LEON DU CLOS – Useful but could manage only 5th of 7 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class B 11 days ago, but the new configuration will do his prospects no disservice
5. LAURENE DE BAILLY – Moderate 4th of 8 in a 2700m Vincennes Class B 11 days ago and needs to find more on this occasion
6. LYNX ATOUT – Game type making his first start since trotting 4th of 8 in a 2700m Vincennes Class A late-April. Shod for competition and is not one to be overlooked
7. LEGEND DARLING – Has hardly put a foot wrong since switching codes and is proven at the venue. Hind pads fitted this time and is not going to be far from the action
8. LOTUS ZEN – No superstar but recently beat L’APOGEE IMPERIAL (10) when 2nd of 4 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C 3 weeks ago, and is sure to garner more support this time around
9. LAVALLOISE GIRL – Classy future prospect that tenaciously opened her account in a 2175m Vincennes Class D last Saturday and has every chance of confirming
10. L’APOGEE IMPERIAL – Yet to get off the mark but regularly goes close, latterly 2nd to a very good horse in a 2850m Vincennes Class C early-June. Is plainly close to his race and it is only a matter of time. Chance
Summary: A progressive filly that has taken to her new vocation like a natural, LAVALLOISE GIRL (9) lost her maiden status at Vincennes last month and Eric Raffin will be justifiably eyeing up a repeat. It’s unlikely to be all plane sailing though considering how well L’APOGEE IMPERIAL (10) has been acquitting himself, and the entry he enjoys. It took some time but LOTUS ZEN (8) returns to Enghien with his morale intact and even racing shod, looks capable of making the frame, as does the improving LEGEND DARLING (7) who is fitted with hind pads this time.

C3 – PRIX DU PONT DE L’ARCHEVECHE – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000 |
1. LAOS DE BANVILLE – Struggled in first 2 but has started to come good lately, most recently 3rd of 11 in a 2150m Vichy Class F early-June. Has earned the right to race here and looks a decent first-5 chance
2. LORD DU TRIEUX – 3rd of 11 in a 2150m Mauquenchy Class D 3 weeks ago. Is progressing nicely and is unlikely to be far from the action at the business end of the race
3. LORENZO D’EP – Won a 2600m Class G at Châlons-en-Champagne mid-month, first time out. Takes a hike in class but will have come on for the run and, with 4 pads fitted, is not to be ignored
4. LOVE GLYCINES – Made up for his Reims sanction with a good 4th of 11 in a 2425m Angers Class E on 11 June and the new configuration will only enhance his prospects. Chance
5. LORD SUN DRALIAM – Returns to racing with just shoes on after coming 2nd of 11 finishers in a 2700m Vire Class E on 12 June. Should appreciate Enghien profile and can play a leading role
6. LEE HOOKER – Won on debut last month before faulting early in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle last weekend, and appears to have his work cut out
7. LOOK DE LARRE – Blows hot and cold but got off the mark 2 weeks ago in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys. Pitted against better horses this time and no more than minor place chance
8. LEADER MESLOIS – Useful future prospect that came 3rd of 9 in a 2750m Class D at La Capelle a fortnight ago. Champion driver reining this time and Pierre Belloche will expect him to win this
9. LIEUTENANT COLONEL – Modest individual that was sanctioned in a 2825m Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche 12 days ago. Starts alone on the back line and has no realistic chance
Summary: Entrusted to Eric Raffin for the first time after producing a fine effort at La Capelle recently, LEADER MESLOIS (8) looks the pick of the field. That being said, the similarly-progressive LOVE GLYCINES (4) reassured at Angers earlier in the month and even though racing left-handed for the first time, he sports front pads for the first time and will be no pushover. LORD SUN DRALIAM (5) put in his career-best performance at Vire last time and, pads fitted or not, he still looks a player. With his form in the ascendance, LORD DU TRIEUX (2) sports pads all around and looks to have a lot to contribute.

C4 – PRIX DU ROUSSILLON – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 68,000 |
1. ZIGULI DEI GREPPI – Capable Italian raider making her Enghien bow after coming 9th over a mile at Modena last month. Is significantly better than that though and can put on a good show
2. GRANDE PRETRESSE – 12th of 13 in last weekend’s race of reference, on first start since the spell. Appreciates Enghien conditions and will be one to keep an eye on
3. GINO VIVA – Respectable 3rd of 15 in a 2100m Class C at Vincennes last weekend. Excels in mobile starts, is confirmed under these conditions, and looks a player
4. FOREVER JIEL – Finished last but one in race of reference. Has a regressive profile and must get his house in order
5. HAMILTON DU HAM – Came good 3 weeks ago when making short work of a 2850m Vincennes Class D. Is well-placed in front, has won twice over course and distance, and can do so again if Yoann Lebourgeois gets him off on the right foot
6. FILOU DE CHARDET – Takes a dip in category after finishing 8th of 14 in a 2650m Bordeaux Gr.3 10 days ago. Decently-placed on front line but others still preferred
7. FILARETE DU VERGER – 7th of 15, behind GINO VIVA (3), in a 2100m Vincennes Class C last weekend. Has solid references over course and distance and is thoroughly capable of securing a slice of the pie
8. BAHIA DEL CIRCEO – Has nothing to prove at this level but is a tricky mare, most recently sanctioned when competitive for a cheque, in a 2700m Vincennes Class C 2 weeks ago. Front pads fitted and can be expected to finish in the mix
9. HULYSSE DIGEO – Made up for his modest Vincennes run when 3rd of 16 in a 2625m Cherbourg Class E a fortnight ago. Has references here when shod and will have his supporters
10. ROCKY TILLY – Looked very ordinary when 11th to HAMILTON DU HAM (5) in a 2850m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago and can be be confidently passed over
11. MARION FOUTY BON – Won smartly at Nancy a month ago before trotting 3rd of 15 in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D 10 days ago. Is new to Enghien but should appreciate the profile and is not going to be far from the action
12. EXTRA DU CHATELET – Placed under these conditions in March but out of the picture in 4 since, most recently last but one in a 2450m Caen Class D earlier this month, and will have few friends
13. ENJOY THE GAME – Has not been seen out since coming 8th of 16 in a 2700m Vincennes Class B mid-February. Has won twice over course and distance, is barefoot for re-entry, with Eric Raffin reining, and must not be underestimated
14. KING SCHERMER – Honest Dutch trotter that left a good impression here before coming 4th to HAMILTON DU HAM (5) in a 2850m Vincennes Class D 3 weeks ago. Benjamin Rochard reining this time and will not go down without a fight
15. FIDELE MADRIK – Starts for the first time since faulting in a Class D over course and distance early-March. Reverts to a previous configuration but the draw only compounds matters
16. EDEN DE L’ITON – Unseen since trotting 3rd in a 2700m Vincennes claimer early-April. Is out of his depth and can be written off
Summary: HAMILTON DU HAM (5) took some time to get it together this term but reassured with a comfortable win across town 3 weeks ago and steps up in class with a realistic chance of confirming. 4th that day, KING SCHERMER (14) finished 2nd in a Class A under these conditions just 2 weeks earlier and, even though handed a rough draw, will be no soft touch. GINO VIVA (3), on the other hand, has been handed an excellent draw and will endeavour to improve on his recently good Vincennes performance. Plainly back at the top of her game, MARION FOUTY BON (11) makes her Enghien debut with a realistic claim on a place in the frame.

C5 – PRIX DE ROUVROY – 2875m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 35,000 |
1. KNOX JENILOU – Not without merit but has struggled lately, most recently 8th of 10 in a 2200m Caen Class E 2 months ago. Just hind shoes off this time and not an obvious choice
2. KING EVOLUTION – Can prove a handful but reassured in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E earlier this month. Takes on a tougher bunch here, but races unshod-behind, and will have his supporters
3. KAPTAIN DE CRISTAL – Made the frame in 3 before coming 8th of 10 finishers 2175m Vincennes Class D on 10 May. Races barefoot for the occasion but other more competitive choices available
4. KASSKOU CLEMAXELLE – On a cracking run of form since early-April, latterly 2nd of 12 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F mid-month, but in this company will have too much to do
5. KISS YOU PIYA – Kicked the year off victoriously but has not been as sharp since, latterly 7th of 10 finishers in a 2700m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche mid-May. Fitted with a new formula this time but others still easier to back
6. KIWI DE BAFFAIS – Would have finished closer than 4th in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E earlier in the month had he been afforded a run. No question over his form and could pleasantly surprise
7. KIEVEL – Sanctioned early in a 2300m Chartres Class E on 2 June. Just front shoes off for the first time but others still preferred
8. KAZAN BEACH – 7th of 15 in a 2725m Lisieux Class D 3 weeks ago. Lacks reliability, but not ability. Should take well to Enghien conditions and, if focused, will be no easy touch
9. KOWEIT DE CHENU – Has turned a corner since starting to race with hind shoes off. Won a 2800m Rambouillet Class F mid-month and while unlikely to repeat, will still give his best
10. KESSERO – Has struggled since being stepped up in class, most recently 10th of 15 in a 2725m Lisieux Class D 3 weeks ago, and chances appear limited
11. KOH I NOOR – 3rd on re-entry before finishing 2nd of 13 in a 2450m Caen Class E a month ago. Benjamin Rochard maintains faith and looks a major player on his Enghien debut
12. KADEHO DE FRAMIST – A write-off since late last year, most recently last but one in a 2700m Vincennes Class D, and offers little hope
13. KENNY NELGER – Won 2 in a row before being sanctioned early in a 2150m Vichy Class E on 12 June. Is evidently in fine shape and will not be far off the mark if he keeps his action together
14. KALL ME CENSERIE – Got off the mark in a 2850m Laval Class E a fortnight ago. Eric Raffin replaces Matthieu Abrivard in the sulky and looks a serious proposition
15. KINGMAMBO BELLO – Put 4 straight sanctions behind him to come 4th of 12 in a 2800m Chartres Class E 10 days ago. Yoann Lebourgeois at the helm again and can be assured a competitive drive
16. KING FROMENTRO – Quality element with solid references in this category, most recently 4th of 12 in a 3125m Angers Class E on 11 June. Reunited with Matthieu Abrivard and can impose
Summary: Ideally-engaged at just €25 from cut-off, the reliable KING FROMENTRO (16) debuts at Enghien with a realistic chance of opening his 2024 account. Matthieu Abrivard will still want to be wary of recent Laval winner, KALL ME CENSERIE (14) who is fitted with front pads for the first time, and KOH I NOOR (11) who is plainly close to winning another. KIWI DE BAFFAIS (6) has looked a different horse lately, sports a new configuration, and can make up for the misfortune he endured last time out.

C6 – PRIX DE LA PORTE SAINT-MARTIN – 2875m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 46,000 |
1. JASMIN D’AVE – Has not been seen out since coming last of 11 in a Class D over course and distance late-April. Shoes on and can be discounted
2. JACKPOTINA – Out of the picture in 3 starts since the break. Last of 12 finishers, behind JET SOCIETY (12), in a 2700m Class D at La Capelle early last month, and has no realistic chance
3. JOKER D’OCCAGNES – Has been progressing nicely of late and most recently came 3rd of 10 in a 2850m Hyères Class C a month back. In better company this time though and chances limited
4. JOYEUX NONNA – 3rd, a place behind JOLYSTAR GEDE (13), in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a week ago. Franck Nivard at the helm this time but others still preferred
5. JOTUNN DU DOME – Seldom disappoints when applied and should not be too hastily judged for faulting in a 2525m Class D at Les Andelys 2 weeks ago. Sanctioned on only appearance here but in current form, is easy to like
6. JIANFRANCO – 6th behind JAGERBOMB (14) in a 2850m Laval Class D on 5 June. Expected more that day but is reunited with Yoann Lebourgeois and can set the record straight. Place chance
7. JOB DU PERSIL – Was on a fine run of form until finishing a one-paced 8th of 12 in a 3000m Borély Class C mid-May. Drops in category with David Thomain reining and while not a priority will still be afforded every chance
8. JIRENZO – Has done nothing but improve over past 3 months. Rewarded with victory in a 2700m Class D at Le Croisé-Laroche late-May and will not be going home empty-handed
9. JEU MAJYC – Gave a good account when 4th of 10 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes Class D a fortnight ago. Nicolas Bazire reining this time and has a solid chance of making the frame
10. JASMIN PHIL – Has not won for almost a year but has come close more than once this term, most recently 2nd of 11 under similar conditions on 25 May. Takes on better this time but can still hold his own
11. JO DIBAH – Never far from faulting but has ample ability. Won a 2450m Caen Class D early last month, when shod, and should not be overlooked
12. JET SOCIETY – Lost her action in a 2825m Class E at Le Croisé-Laroche 12 days ago, but has proven performant when barefoot and, even stepping up in category, will be worth watching, especially with Eric Raffin reining
13. JOLYSTAR GEDE – 2nd of 15 in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a week ago, putting behind her a string of sanctions. Alexis Grimault appears to have found what makes her tick and, with application, she can make a big splash
14. JAGERBOMB – Did not enjoy the best of trips in a 2850m Laval Class D on 5 June, but nevertheless managed a close 3rd, and can win this time if Benjamin Rochard keeps him out of trouble
15. JUST D’HERIPRE – Useful trotter but has been struggling of late, most recently sanctioned, when full of running, in a 3000m Marseille-Borély Class C mid-May. Has had time to recuperate and can play a part if he stays in stride
Summary: Simply dynamic when barefoot and applied, JAGERBOMB (14) made up for his Châteaubriant sanction when 3rd in a competitive Laval race earlier this month, despite traffic problems, and Benjamin Rochard will be eager to put things right. Justifiably well-regarded, JOLYSTAR GEDE (13) appears to have turned a corner since switching yards and, on good behaviour, will be dangerous. JIANFRANCO (6) did not live up to expectations at Laval but will be expected to put things right. Sporting a new configuration after having held his own across town recently, JEU MAJYC (9) must be taken seriously.

C7 – PRIX DU PONT AVAL – 2150m (a1m1/4) – Class R Claiming – Harness – EUR € 18,000 |
1. IPSO DU FER – Winner of a 2850m Vincennes claimer on Tuesday. Has the inside line here but is not the biggest fan of Enghien and a minor place chance at best
2. IZIO DU POMMEREUX – Last of 14, on re-entry, in a 2100m Vincennes claimer earlier in the month. Shod as he prefers this time and looks main threat to IDEFIX D’OLMEN (3)
3. IDEFIX D’OLMEN – Makes first appearance since coming last of 13 in a 2700m Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche 2 months ago. Is barefoot for re-entry, with a top driver reining, and from the 3-spot can wrap this up
4. INVINCIBLE DE BRY – Takes a dip in category after finishing last of 13 in a 2175m Vincennes Class D earlier this month and has no realistic chance
5. HERMINE SIBEY – Won a claimer over course and distance before hitting traffic problems, coming last of 11 in a 2875m Class D here late last month. Takes a dip in class and is not to be underestimated
6. ITRO – Capable when focused and is better than his recent 12th of 15 in a 2725m Lisieux Class F 3 weeks ago would suggest. Starts in front, with Benjamin Rochard in charge, and can get in on the action
7. HISTORIEN DE LARRE – 7th of 9 in a 2450m Caen monté Class E a month back. Here for a change of scenery and can be ruled out
8. HARDE DESTINEE – Respectable in 3 this term, latterly 6th of 10 finishers in a 2850m Feurs Class E. Flopped on lone claiming start but, with form maintained, can play a small role
9. HEROS DE BANVILLE – Unremarkable 6th of 12 in a 2850m Laon amateurs Class G 3 weeks ago. Has won just once in 7 claiming starts and is unlikely to cause an upset
10. I RUN DE JANEIRO – Beat a number of these when 3rd of 16 in a similar 2100m event at Vincennes earlier this month. On back line this time, will be reined by Damien Bonne, and has a reasonable chance of getting a look in
11. HEROS NUEVO – 12th of 13 in a 2725m Lisieux Class F 3 weeks ago. Has fine amateur references and should not find this too tough a task
12. HOPE – Reassuring 4th of 16 in a 2150m Vichy claimer on 12 June. Has previously won over longer here, defied his poor draw last time out, and is not to be written off
13. I ALONE – Has looked ordinary since returning to competition, most recently 7th in 4 June race of reference, and needs to find considerably more
14. JEAN MADRIK – Briefly lost his way when 5th of 11 in a 2850m Vincennes claimer 11 days ago. Is better than that though, appreciates Enghien, is shod to preference, and is not incapable of defying the draw. First 5
15. HAUTE VOLTIGE – Is proven in the category but finished last of 9 in a 2900m Bourigny amateurs Class H a week ago and can be confidently passed over
16. ILLICO DU GUESNE – Last but one in a 2850m Laval Class D on 13 June. Unseen in the claiming category since imposing in 2020 but, aside from the draw, has a lot going for him and can challenge for a place in first 3
Summary: Sent for a spell after disappointing at Le Croisé-Laroche, IDEFIX D’OLMEN (3) takes his first competitive steps in the claiming category and with Matthieu Abrivard reining, can impose. IZIO DU POMMEREUX (2), on the other hand, has made his mark at this level, won his last 2 in the day’s configuration, and will have his chances. Similarly well-positioned behind the car, HERMINE SIBEY (5) won two claimers on the trot, including under these conditions, and once again looks to be in with a realistic shout. ILLICO DU GUESNE (16) has been handed an unfavourable draw but gets an Eric Raffin drive this time and has already won at this level.

C8 – PRIX DE NEUILLY-LEVALLOIS – 2875m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 59,000 |
1. GO CHICAGO – Alternates the good with the less good but has held his own in last 2, most recently 4th of 12 in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle 2 weeks ago. David Thomain in the sulky this time but others still easier to back
2. GAGNANT DE BRIKVIL – Reliability not his strong suit but was going well in a 2800m Rambouillet Class F earlier this month before faulting. Matthieu Abrivard keeps the faith and with more vigilance can play a leading role
3. FAKIR DE GESVRES – Placed in an Enghien claimer earlier in the year but below-par since, most recently sanctioned in a 2850m Vincennes Class D late-May. Shoes on and poses no threat
4. FALCON JET – 5th, a place behind GO CHICAGO (1), in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle mid-month. Sanctioned on lone start at the venue but in present condition is easy to like
5. FEEL SMART – Below-par on the whole this term, most recently faulting in La Capelle race of reference and, even with front pads fitted, can be written off
6. FUTE BUROIS – Lacklustre since returning to competition this season, latterly 12th of 14 finishers in a 2750m Ecommoy Class E last weekend and, even freshly reconfigured, is not about to change his ways
7. GLOIRE DES LOYAUX – 3rd of 11 finishers, when shod, in a 3225m Vitré Class E on 2 June. Will appreciate the long Enghien straight and, barefoot this time, is unlikely to disappoint
8. EDI JOSSELYN – Kicked the year off decently but disappointing since, latterly 11th of 16 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D last weekend, and will need to find more
9. GERSHWIN DE CHENU – Not disgraced when 8th of 14, on comeback, in a 2100m Vincennes Class D 2 weeks ago. Previously won 3 in succession for Eric Raffin, but looks more a minor place chance this time around
10. GRAND SOURIRE – Got back in the game 3 weeks ago when 3rd of 16 in a 2100m Vincennes Class D. Has previously won here, goes well for the day’s driver, and can make this his own
11. FAVORI DE BRY – Has not been seen out since coming 3rd, a place behind EDI JOSSELYN (8), in a 2925m Cagnes Class D early-January. Shoes on and best to wait
12. FALCO FLEURI – Returns to a hard surface after coming 3rd of 14 in a 2975m Jallais Class E a fortnight ago. Entrusted to Franck Nivard this time and will be afforded every chance
13. FELICITA D’ECOUVES – Was not the most fortunate when 9th of 16 in a 2700m Vincennes Class D last weekend. Sports a modified formula, and with a trouble-free run, can bring the fight to GRAND SOURIRE (10)
14. FOR LOVING YOU – Impressed more than once last season before coming off the boil. Unremarkable 7th of 12 , behind GO CHICAGO (1), in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle mid-month and can be passed over
15. FILAE DE SOYORA – Seldom gets her nose in front but finished a reassuring 3rd of 11 in a 2225m Feurs Class D mid-month and does not make the trip to Paris for reasons of tourism
16. DROP DE L’ITON – Last but one in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E on 16 June. Enjoys an excellent entry, with front shoes off, but will not be in a position to take advantage
Summary: An honest trotter that always gives his best, GRAND SOURIRE (10) has previously won for Benjamin Rochard and his latest performance augurs well for his prospects. In the frame in 2 before being denied a run next time, FELICITA D’ECOUVES (13) can more than make amends if Alexis Collette keeps her out of trouble. GAGNANT DE BRIKVIL (2) showed a different side to himself last time out before losing his action, but his driver will be out to set the record straight. GLOIRE DES LOYAUX (7) has made the frame in 2 of her last 3 starts and although unlikely to impose, can still make the frame.

1. KERENE MIXO – Decent filly making her first start since trotting 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2450m Caen Class E mid-March. Is barefoot for re-entry but risks being race-rusty
2. KHEOPS JENILAT – Highly-impressive in a 2450m Caen Class D on his monté debut on 10 June, only to be subsequently sanctioned. On better behaviour though, can wrap this up
3. KNOKKE DE HOUELLE – Opened his monté account at Laval before failing to fire in a 2850m Vincennes Class D a week ago. Should not be too quickly judged though and the Benjamin Rochard-factor cannot be ignored
4. KENNEDY JAMES – 6th of 8 finishers in a 2100m Vincennes harness Class E on 11 June. Debuts under the saddle, with hind shoes off and Adrien Lamy in the irons, and will be competitive for a spot on the podium
5. KEMETCHA DES BAUX – Has turned a corner over recent months, latterly securing a 2450m Caen Class E mid-month. Reverts to a proven formula and can give KHEOPS JENILAT (2) a run for his money
6. KING OF JIEL – Useful colt that lost his action, when well-supported, in a 2550m Reims Class F 2 weeks ago. Back to a previous configuration and with application can make first 5
7. KALINKA DU BLEUET – Sanctioned, when spent, in a 2850m Vincennes Class D last weekend and, in this company, will have her work cut out
8. KENJI D’AUBERVILLE – Has 2 races in him since the break, latterly 7th behind KING OF JIEL (6), in a 2450m Caen Class F, and is not about to spring a surprise
Summary: KHEOPS JENILAT (2) had his monté debut won recently only to have victory taken away in the stewards’ room, but Benjamin Chauve-Laffay will be loathe to allow that to happen a second time. Eric Raffin takes over on recent Caen winner, KEMETCHA DES BAUX (5) who will be fitted with front pads this time, and who will be no pushover. KNOKKE DE HOUELLE (3) was somewhat out of sorts across town last weekend but has otherwise been in cracking form and will be expected to redeem himself.

1. MASSIMO MERIDIO – Ran on well once the penny had dropped to finish an encouraging 3rd on debut over 1600m at Saint-Cloud on 11 June. Would’ve benefitted appreciably from that experience
2. LANZELOT GOLD – Built on the promise of his debut 4th by finishing 2nd over track and trip last month. Failed to improve on that form when only 5th over 1600m at Saint-Cloud on 11 June
3. BULLANT – Finished last of 8 on debut over 2000m at Compiegne on 31 May. Headgear worn that day is dispensed with
4. TRENO – Finished 2nd on debut at Nancy but failed to confirm that promise when only 6th over 1400m at Compiegne on 24 May. Races with a tongue-tie now fitted
5. GRETZKY – Consistent colt with sound references/form credentials, which include finishing 4th in 3 of his 4 starts – the latest over 1600m at ParisLongchamp on 12 May. Dark horse
6. KAHOOT – Finished last of 8 on debut over 1600m at ParisLongchamp on 31 August. Absent/gelded since, so is on to keep an eye on
7. EXCEEDING QUEEN – Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th on debut over 1600m on the PSF at this venue in February but failed to build on that encouragement when only 8th over 1600m at ParisLongchamp on 18 April – for another day
8. OTHERWORDLY – Confirmed the promise of her debut 2nd over 1500m at Saint-Cloud in October last year by finishing 2nd again on her reappearance over 1600m at that venue on 11 June. Wouldn’t be winning out of turn
9. SILHAM – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th on debut in the coveted Prix de La Cascade at ParisLongchamp over 1600m on 31 August 2023. Open to any amount of progress on her reappearance – not to be underestimated
10. BALTIC EMPRESS – Improving filly who has progressed with each outing – confirmed as much by building on a pleasing comeback 4th at Lyon-Parilly to finish 2nd over this course and distance on 17 May. Keep safe
11. GALAXIE VEGA – Finished 2nd on debut over this track and trip in March and acquitted herself well in defeat when 4th over this course and distance on 26 April. Needn’t improve much to fight for victory
12. LACY FASHION – Caught the eye when finishing 4th on debut over this track and trip on 28 September. Open to any amount of improvement on her reappearance – not taken lightly
13. SEEYOUAGAIN – Finished a well-beaten 11th on debut over 1600m at Saint-Cloud on 7 March. Open to improvement but best watched for now
14. EXPERT ADVICE – Consistent filly with sound references/form credentials and whose experience will stand her in good stead. Finished 3rd (with headgear fitted) over 1400m at Le Mans on 15 May – headgear now dispensed with
15. EVER KATE – Flavie Bresson-trained Goken debutante to be ridden by Sébastien Maillot – is probably best watched for now
Summary: GALAXIE VEGA (11) has caught the eye in both outings and performed well enough in competitive races to suggest that this is well within her compass. She shouldn’t be a maiden for too much longer and is good value to open her account here at the expense of OTHERWORDLY (8), who fits a similar profile and should improve after an encouraging comeback 2nd. MASSIMO MERIDIO (1) also has legitimate claims with progress expected following a pleasing debut 3rd. BALTIC EMPRESS (10), SILHAM (9) and the returning LACY FASHION (12) complete the shortlist.

1. LIYA CHOPE – Has benefitted from the addition of headgear and improved with each handicap appearance – confirmed as much by winning a 2500m Nantes handicap on 22 May. A 2,5kg penalty shouldn’t halt her momentum
2. VINO – Has demonstrated commendable consistency, especially in both handicap appearances – finished 4th over 2500m on handicap debut bat Nancy last month and (4th) over 2500m at Argentan on 5 June. Keep safe
3. LUCY GALESTE – Acquitted herself well enough (6th of 13) in a 2400m Dieppe maiden on 14 June to suggest that she could have a role to play on handicap debut off her opening mark. Not taken lightly
4. LA STRANEZZA – Unplaced in all 3 turf handicap appearances, including both comeback outings this year – the latest (11th) over 2000m at Compiegne on 7 June. Headgear reached for in the hope of sparking some improvement
5. AARON – Has made significant improvement in the claiming category recently, finishing 2nd over 2500m at Evreux in April and 4th over 2400m at Moulins on 20 May. More needed pitched into a handicap for the first time
6. E BASTA LA – Held his own in competitive maiden races/fields and shouldn’t be condemned for his latest failure (10th) over 2000m at this venue on 11 May. Could have more to offer in the handicaps, especially off this mark
7. ALGOT – Won a 2400m claiming race at Wissembourg in April and showed his form/well-being by winning a Class 3 conditions race over 2500m at Nort-sur-Erdre on 2 June. Should have a role to play on his handicap debut
8. FIRST DIVA – Last-start winner of a Class 3 conditions race over 2250m at Niort on 9 June. Makes her handicap debut off a 1,5kg higher mark
9. L’INITIE – Improving colt whose competitiveness at this level off his current mark was confirmed by a last-start 2nd in a 2500m handicap at Argentan on 5 June. Dark horse

11. HEAREN – Showed her limitations at this level when 9th on her handicap debut over 2000m at Lyon-Parilly, albeit off a 2kg higher mark. Could do better off a reduced mark
12. BIMBO – Impeded and brought down by a faller in her latest outing at Lyon-Parilly in a 2400m claimer on 8 June. Has scope to improve
13. LADYSHOW – Experienced 21-start maiden with sound references in handicaps, including a respectable 4th in her only start with headgear fitted. Didn’t go unnoticed when 6th over 2400m in a Nantes handicap in 18 June
14. ROYAL SOPRANO – Improved to finish a career-best 3rd on his handicap debut over 2000m at Compiegne on 7 June. Drawn in the widest starting stall which only complicates matters
15. ROSE BAY – Unplaced and soundly beaten in each of her 4 appearances, the latest (9th) on handicap debut over 2500m at Argentan on 5 June. Others preferred
16. LORD MIESQUE – Consistent for the most part and seldom finishes far off the mark. Has references in handicaps, including a last-start 6th over 2000m at Compigene on 7 June. For lovers of outsiders
17. SAINTEFOY LAGRANDE – Unplaced in each of 3 appearances, the latest (9th) in a 2400m claimer at Compiegne on 12 June. Hard to recommend
Summary: Improving LIYA CHOPE (1) opened her account by winning a 2500m Nantes handicap last month and, on the evidence on that victory, seems capable of defying a 2,5kg penalty by winning again. ALGOT (7) resumed winning ways at Nort-sur-Erdre earlier this month and has the means to pose a threat on handicap debut off his current mark. BIRDSONG (10), VINO (2) and E BASTA LA (6) are contenders for the remaining podium berth.
