French Selections Friday 5th

R1 CABOURG [R-H]
C1 – PRIX DE GRANVILLE – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 26,000

1. JAYA DU QUENNE – Sanctioned in a 2200m monté Class F at Agon-Coutainville last weekend. Here for a change of scenery and, even though barefoot, will have nothing to offer

2. KAMA D’EM – Going well when sanctioned in a 2550m Bordeaux Class E on 19 June. Reunited with Benjamin Rochard who won with her in April, and could pleasantly surprise

3. KUTARA MICHE – Returns to racing clockwise after trotting 7th of 10 in a 2850m Laval Class E late-May. Is new to the venue but will not be far from the action if she takes to the new conditions

4. JESABELLE DU JOUR – Sanctioned, when clearly in shape, in a 2675m Class E at Le Mont-Saint-Michel late last month. Is not to everyone’s taste but has won twice racing clockwise and should not be overlooked

5. KELLE EAU – Gave a fine account on comeback before finishing a lacklustre 8th of 12 in a 2200m Caen Class E on 10 June. Has a front-line start, sports a new configuration, and deserves to be given another chance

6. JUDICIEUSE ZAILER – 8th of 12 finishers in a 2675m Class E at  Le Mont-Saint-Michel 9 days ago. Has other priorities and can be ruled out

7. JAVA TRUNOISE – 2nd on comeback at Tours before repeating 3 weeks ago in a 2550m Reims Class E. Is clearly close to her race and looks set to take all the beating

8. JUNGLE BOND – Back under harness after faulting early in a 2450m Caen monté Class E 11 days ago. Better at a marginally lower level and others preferred

9. KEEN ACTION – 9th of 11 finishers, on return from a long layoff, in a 2525m Class E at Les Andelys mid-June. Is better than most here and from the front row, can play a leading role

10. JUSTICE SECRETE – 11th of 13 in a 2400m Amiens Class E 3 weeks ago. Has been off the boil for past 13 months and can be disregarded

11. JEEDAYA DU VIVIER – Unbeaten in 6 starts to date but stays shod for her return from a lengthy layoff and best to keep one’s powder dry

12. KISS ME DU RUEL – Given time to recuperate after faulting in a 2700m Vincennes Class C mid-May. Should get a better pace here and, if applied, can figure prominently

13. JOLIE SMART – Modest mare that came last of 10 in a 2400m Amiens Class D on re-entry late-May. Is still being conditioned and can be passed over

14. KOSY D’ERONVILLE – Has hardly put a foot wrong this term, most recently 4th of 9 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes Class C a fortnight ago. Drops back in category and, even from the 2nd line, is capable of trotting her way onto the podium

15. KOUVOLA – Makes first appearance since faulting in a 2850m Vincennes monté Gr.2 early-February. Fitted with 4 pads this time and while clearly preparing for a monté campaign, is not to be written off

16. JURILOVCA – Made it 2 wins on the trot with a 2850m Laval Class E romp mid-June, but shoes on this time and best to hold off

Summary: Very impressive last season, JAVA TRUNOISE (7) has picked up after her break where she left off and is eminently capable of making her Cabourg debut a winning one. A winner here 18 months ago, KEEN ACTION (9) has one race under her belt and if fully-fit, can apply the pressure. KOSY D’ERONVILLE (14) has similarly continued to thrive following a brief spell and, although not known for her right-handed exploits, she looks competitively well-in, even from the 2nd line. KISS ME DU RUEL (12) also has an extra 25m to travel but is no slouch when focused and can start to set the record straight.

SELECTIONS
JAVA TRUNOISE (7) – KEEN ACTION (9) – KOSY D’ERONVILLE (14) – KISS ME DU RUEL (12)
C2 – PRIX DU MONT-SAINT-MICHEL – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 33,000

1. INKY PERRINE – By no means disgraced when 6th of 10 finishers in a 2850m Vincennes Class D last week. Has references at this level and can play a small part if she takes to the new profile

2. IRENO DES PLAINES – 10th of 15 in a 2800m Mondoubleau Class F mid-June. Disappointing since imposing at Caen 2 months ago and even the engagement of Benjamin Rochard may not be enough to get him back on track

3. IMOKO ATOUT – Sanctioned in a 2750m Ecommoy Class D on 23 June but when applied is very hard to knock. Already 3 times a winner this year and, shod to preference this time, is not to be overlooked

4. ISLA MUJERES – Steps back up in category after coming 5th of 10 in a 2875m Enghien amateurs Class F a week ago, and is not about to shake things up

5. IVANA DES RACQUES – 3rd of 10 in a 2150m Vire Class E just last Monday. Won only once in 5 here but, in current condition, is hard to ignore. First 5

6. IDOLE DE RETZ – 6th, a place behind IVANA DES RACQUES (5), in a 2850m Laval Class C a month back, after having gone close at Enghien. Adores Cabourg and must be taken seriously

7. IBIS PETTEVINIERE – Won over 3000m at Nantes before faulting in a 2850m Laval Class C 3 weeks ago. Damien Bonne back in the sulky and will be expected to put things right

8. IDOLA – Sanctioned early, on re-entry, in a 2800m Chartres Class E on 19 June. Has previously won under the saddle here and, with application, can again figure prominently

9. ILLUSIVE GLORY – Superb in both codes of late, latterly winning a 2700m Vincennes Class D a fortnight ago, and is unlikely to be bested

10. IXELLE BLEUE – Sanctioned in a 2525m Class F at Les Andelys last weekend. Has been specifically prepared for this and with Lebourgeois reining, will be afforded every chance

11. IT’S MY DREAM – Has not been seen out since winning a 2875m Enghien monté Class E 2 months ago. Has other priorities and will not be influencing the outcome

Summary: An absolute revelation since switching yards late last season, ILLUSIVE GLORY (9) has been in dynamic form this season and will take all the beating. Leading the opposition is IBIS PETTEVINIERE (7) who will be driven by his handler this time after failing to confirm his Nantes victory, and the talented IDOLA (8) provided she can get off on the right foot. IXELLE BLEUE (10) has form at a superior level and the engagement of Yoann Lebourgeois will do her prospects no disservice.

SELECTIONS
ILLUSIVE GLORY (9) – IBIS PETTEVINIERE (7) – IDOLA (8) – IXELLE BLEUE (10)
C3 – PRIX D’AGON-COUTAINVILLE – 2725m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 22,000

1. KERIDA BEST – Disappointing since imposing at Caen earlier in the year. 6th of 12 in a 2725m Lisieux Class D a month back and needs to find more

2. KANDIE DJOB – Honest filly that came in a pleasant 5th of 12 in a 3125m Angers Class E early last month. Enjoys a good spot in front and, barefoot for the first time, must be respected

3. KALISTA JIEL – Last of 11, behind KAMELIE DU CAMPUS (6), in a 2150m Enghien Class E, when being prepped for this 3 weeks ago. Shoes back on but is behind in earnings, and has previously won for Gabi Gelormini. Attention

4. KALISTA DE HOUELLE – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2175m Vincennes Class D mid-December. Freshly reconfigured and well-positioned behind the car, but others still easier to back

5. KALINA STAR – Out of the picture in all 5 starts this season, latterly 10th of 11 in a 2150m Enghien Class E mid-June. Barefoot this time but others still preferred

6. KAMELIE DU CAMPUS – Surprise 6th of 11 finishers in a 2150m Enghien Class E mid-June but a repeat seems most unlikely

7. KALITY LOVE – Enjoying something of a renaissance over past 2 months, most recently 3rd of 12 in a 2200m Caen Class E on 10 June, and will be competitive for a another podium-place

8. KELIA DES TOUCHES – Last of 8 when shod for re-entry in a 2800m Chartres Class E on 19 June. Is hard to knock when barefoot and looks a decent place prospect

9. KEEP ON ROLLING – Decent filly that left a good impression at Cherbourg when 4th of 8 in a 2625m Class E mid-June. Competitively-shod for first goal of 2024 and looks main danger to  KELOWNA LEGEND (11)

10. KIRENE FLASH – Lacklustre 6th of 9 finishers in a 2800m Pontchâteau Class E a month ago after having imposed at Graignes. Stays shod and best to hold off

11. KELOWNA LEGEND – Sanctioned early in a 2150m Vichy Class E on 12 June. Has taken her game to another level since starting to race barefoot though and, despite the draw, still looks the horse to beat

12. KRONA VIKING – Got straight down to business on re-entry, winning a 2800m Rambouillet Class F mid-June. Is in her category, pleased on lone start at the venue, and is not to be overlooked

13. KEYPTOWN – Occasionally gives cause for hope, however last but one in a 2725m Lisieux Class D a month back, is not going to cut the mustard

14. KIARA DES BORDES – Has struggled in both codes this year, most recently sanctioned, at 112/1, in a 2450m Caen monté Class D on 10 June, and can be confidently dismissed

Summary: Winner of her first two when barefoot, KELOWNA LEGEND (11) broke into a gallop at Vichy but is a class above most here and, if focused, can win this from the second line. That said, she will be pitted against the freshly-configured KEEP ON ROLLING (9) who caught the eye at Cherbourg in the middle of June. Transformed since starting to race barefoot, KALITY LOVE (7) is close to winning another, and the engagement of Franck Nivard will do her prospects no harm. Unshod-all-4 after a much-needed freshener, KELIA DES TOUCHES (8) should logically finish in the mix at the business end of the race.

SELECTIONS
KELOWNA LEGEND (11) – KEEP ON ROLLING (9) – KALITY LOVE (7) – KELIA DES TOUCHES (8)
C4 – PRIX RACE AND CARE – ASSO. PASSERELLE – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 32,000

1. IRMA DE L’ECLAIR – Made it 2 in a row when securing a 2700m Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche on 24 June. Sanctioned on lone start at the venue but is well-placed in front and very easy to like

2. ILLUSION DE CHENU – Put 4 straight sanctions behind her when lifting a 2800m Vichy Class F 2 weeks ago. Takes on a better bunch this time but still looks competitive for a place on the podium

3. INDIANA D’OYSE – Useful on a good day but has not been seen out since finishing last but one in a 2875m Argentan Class E early-February. Hind shoes off but will still need the race

4. HEROINE DARCHE – 7th of 14 in a 2750m Angoulême amateurs Class H mid-June and has no realistic chance

5. HEIDI DU BISET – 5th, a place behind HEBE DU PETIT ODON (7), in a 2900m Arras Class G last weekend. Sports a previous formula but will struggle to make her mark

6. IOHANNA THIEBEN – 2nd  in a Class E over track and trip before repeating in a 3000m Jallais Class E 3 weeks ago. Is not a priority but is shod as she was when 2nd here last autumn and can get a look-in

7. HEBE DU PETIT ODON – 4th of 12 in a 2900m Arras Class G last weekend. Has never excelled at Cabourg and, in this company, will need to find more

8. IN LOVE GEDE – Disqualified from 1st over course and distance early-June before finishing 13th of 16 in a 2450m Caen Class E 9 days later. Is never easy to gauge but, with Guillaume Martin back in the wagon, must not be underestimated

9. HOUPLALA LIRE – Makes first appearance since faulting in a 2800m Cholet Class E late-April. Has previously delivered here but shoes on this time and best to hold off

10. IGNAME DE BLAY – 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2650m Bordeaux Class E late last month. Starts on back row but, given the chance to express herself, can impose

11. IXORA – Sanctioned in a 2800m Chartres Class E on 19 June. Pleased on her lone start here and, with application, will not disappoint

12. HAILEY D’OURVILLE – Has made decent progress lately, latterly 4th of 10 finishers in a 2800m Chartres Class E on 19 June. Boasts a decent Cabourg record, sports a proven configuration, and is unlikely to go home empty-handed

13. IDOLE OF LOVE – Disappointing 6th of 15 in a 2550m Bordeaux Class D just over 2 weeks ago. Is considerably better than that though, enjoys a superb entry, and must be afforded respect

Summary: Very hard to fault when focused and unshod, IGNAME DE BLAY (10) reassured at Bordeaux recently, has already won at the venue, and even from the back line looks a marginally better choice than hat-trick-seeking IRMA DE L’ECLAIR (1) who breaks with a 25m head-start. Another complicated mare, ILLUSION DE CHENU (2) returned to winning ways a fortnight ago and, with application, will have her chances. IXORA (11) incurs the penalty but is plainly in form and, barefoot this time, will be no pushover if Pierre-Yves Verva can keep her trotting.

SELECTIONS
IGNAME DE BLAY (10) – IRMA DE L’ECLAIR (1) – ILLUSION DE CHENU (2) – IXORA (11)
C5 – PRIX DE PORTBAIL – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 23,000

1. JEUDI D’AUBRIERE – Modest type that faulted in a 2750m Ecommoy Class F late last month and is not about to influence the result

2. JERRY PAULO – Sanctioned, on comeback, in a 2700m Class F at Le Croisé-Laroche mid-June. Benjamin Rochard gets the nod this time but still not an obvious choice

3. JET SIXTY ONE – Disappointing since winning a claimer mid-May, most recently 11th of 17 in a 2725m Lisieux Class E a month ago, and will have few friends

4. JAZZ DES MANIS – Pleased in all 3 starts this term, most recently 3rd of 16 in a 2750m Ecommoy Class F 12 days ago. Hind shoes off and, from the front line, will be expected to take on JACKSON D’ECAJEUL (15)

5. JASPER SPOKEN – Unraced since being sanctioned in a 2600m Morlaix Class F on 12 May. Has been a write-off all year and is not about to buck the trend

6. JASMIN DES ILES – Sanctioned in a 2550m Reims Class E mid-June, on 2nd start back, and needs to get his house in order

7. JACOBIN – Showed his form at Châteaubriant before being sanctioned in a 2625m Class F at Saint-Jean-de-Monts last weekend. Fitted with a new configuration and, with application, can get a look-in

8. JOLI COEUR DANOVER – Made it 2 straight sanctions when faulting in a 2700m Segré Class E last weekend and is not going to be generating much interest

9. JET NONANTAIS – Has 2 races under his belt since the break, latterly sanctioned in a 2800m Tours Class F early-May. Comes here fresh and, with application, will be no pushover

10. JOURNAC DIESCHOOT – Took little time getting back down to business following the break, most recently winning a 2800m Strasbourg Class E in good order early last month. Plainly on the way up and looks a decent first-5 chance

11. JALANSKI – Pleased at Vichy before being sanctioned in a 2050m Class F here on Tuesday, when clearly going well, and backs up with a revised formula and legitimate aspiration of picking up a cheque

12. JALISCO DE NEUVY – Last of 12 in a 2450m Caen monté Class E mid-June and, handicap or not, has no realistic chance

13. JAGUAR DE BELFOND – 11th of 13 in a 2350m Angers Class E on 11 June. Hind shoes off but breaks from the back line and has no possible chance

14. JOKER D’AMARO – Reassuring 4th of 8 finishers in a 2475m Niort Class E late-June. Just front pads fitted this time and, while not a priority, is still worth monitoring

15. JACKSON D’ECAJEUL – Solid 3rd at Amiens before winning a 2450m Caen Class F on 17 June. Shoes back on but has morale intact and can double his money

16. JOAKIM BILOU – 2nd of 8 finishers in a 2900m Dozulé monté Class F, when preparing for this, mid-June. Has yet to deliver at Cabourg but is very easy to like in present condition

Summary: Authoritative winner at Caen last month, when first time barefoot, JACKSON D’ECAJEUL (15) races shod this time, and starts on the 2nd row, but still looks capable of winning this. Mathias Dudouit will nevertheless be keeping a keen eye on JAZZ DES MANIS (4) who is unshod-behind and 25m better off, and the ideally-engaged and in-form JOAKIM BILOU (16) who reverts to a previous configuration. Just €20 from incurring the handicap, JET NONANTAIS (9) faces his first objective of the new season and, unshod behind, will have his chances.

SELECTIONS
JACKSON D’ECAJEUL (15) – JAZZ DES MANIS (4) – JOAKIM BILOU (16) – JET NONANTAIS (9)
C6 – PRIX DE RANES – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Mounted – EUR € 37,000

1. JABLO DU CHENE – In excellent shape lately, latterly winning a 2450m Caen Class D in fine fashion a fortnight ago, and will be expected to take on IVOIRE DU CEDRE (7). Chance

2. HARIBO DU SURF – Surprise 3rd of 9, at 40/1, in a 2825m Vire Class F on Monday but, in this field, will have too much to do

3. INITIALE LILA – Respectable mare racing barefoot for the occasion after coming last but one, when being conditioned, in a 2700m Vire Class E last Monday. Is better a level down though and is unlikely to shake things up

4. JUST BIRD – Drops back in category after finishing last of 9 in a 2850m Vincennes Class B on re-entry early-June. Will have come on for the run and looks considerably more competitive this time around

5. HUMEUR LA RAVELLE – 3rd of 5 finishers in a 2950m Vichy Class E 8 days ago, but shoes back on here and cannot be considered a player

6. GAD DE BAFFAIS – Has so far failed to achieve last year’s form, latterly 6th to IVOIRE DU CEDRE (7) in a 2450m Caen Class E on 10 June, and already looks out of his depth

7. IVOIRE DU CEDRE – Pulled off the 3-timer when winning, with some comfort, a 2450m Caen Class E on 10 June, and will take all the beating

8. HISTORIEN GALBE – Has started to pick up his game recently, coming 5th of 11 in a 2825m Class F at Sablé-sur-Sarthe last weekend. Not a contender but can nevertheless eke out some prizemoney

9. JEANNETTE PRIORY – 7th of 11 finishers in a 2700m Vincennes harness Class C late-May. Yet to finish a monté race unscathed but has the confidence of her handler and, with application, will be no soft touch

10. HUGO OCCAGNES – Honest trotter dropping down the category ladder after trotting 5th of 11 finishers in a 2850m Vincennes Class C a fortnight ago and, given his appreciation for Cabourg, is easy to like for a spot in first 5

Summary: Remarkably proficient in this branch of the business, IVOIRE DU CEDRE (7) completed the hat-trick of victories in good order early last month, and again looks the horse to beat. He is unlikely to have it all his own way though considering how well JABLO DU CHENE (1) has been acquitting himself over recent months. JUST BIRD (4) has solid references at this level and after a much-needed comeback blowout in Paris, he drops back down the class ladder with a good hand to play. JEANNETTE PRIORY (9) may not be to everybody’s liking, but her class is undeniable and, barefoot for the occasion, deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt.

SELECTIONS
IVOIRE DU CEDRE (7) – JABLO DU CHENE (1) – JUST BIRD (4) – JEANNETTE PRIORY (9)
C7 – PRIX DE BAGNOLES DE L’ORNE – 2050m (a1m1/4) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 22,000

1. LOOK DE LARRE – Failed to confirm his victory at Les Andelys when last but one in a 2150m Enghien Class D last weekend. Fitted with 4 pads this time but still no more than a minor place chance

2. LEWIS DE GINAI – Has merit but sanctioned in last 2, latterly when spent, in a 2450m Caen Class D mid-June, and others easier to back

3. LITTLEKING FOXGLEN – Won a 2200m Vichy Class F by a country mile 10 days ago, and could well double his money if he stays in stride from one end of the race to the other

4. LIGHTNING RIVER – In the frame in first 3 before a below-par 6th of 10 in a 2275m Nantes Class D 2 months ago. Shoes back on but Benjamin Rochard in the saddle this time and is unlikely to be too far off the mark

5. LAMBO DE LEAU – Won a provincial Class G before finishing 2nd of 9 in a 2200m Caen Class E late-May. Comes here fresh and will be expected to garner the lion’s share of support

6. LARRE –

7. LEADER – Has not been seen out since trotting 2nd of 11 early-February after having won over 2750m on debut here 2 months earlier. May be somewhat race-rusty but still has the wherewithal to finish in the mix

8. LAMONT DU DOUET – Has not put a foot out of line this term, most recently 3rd of 11 finishers in a 2700m Vire Class E on 12 June, and the new shoeing formula may be just the ticket

9. LOOK D’AVRIL – 5th of 7 in a 2700m Class E at La Capelle 2 weeks ago and, even with Mathieu Mottier reining, is unlikely to trouble the opposition

Summary: It took a couple of runs but LAMBO DE LEAU (5) has started to make good on his promise and can win this if he replicates his Caen performance. Ideally-placed behind the car, LITTLEKING FOXGLEN (3) has done nothing but improve since moving stable and Philippe Daugeard will be hopeful of repeating his Vichy romp. LAMONT DU DOUET (8) has looked a different horse this year and, with just front pads fitted this time, can finish closer than he did at Vire.

SELECTIONS
LAMBO DE LEAU (5) – LITTLEKING FOXGLEN (3) – LAMONT DU DOUET (8) – LEADER (7)
C8 – PRIX UNAT RENCONTRE FRANCE-SUEDE – 2725m (a1m1/2) – Class F Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 6,000

1. GALIANO DU BOCAGE – Rather disappointing lately, most recently sanctioned in a 2800m Chartres monté Class F on 19 June, and can expect to have few friends

2. HABIBI – Capable sort whose recent 9th of 13 in a 2450m Caen Class F can be filed to history. Is considerably better than the result would suggest and, from the 2-spot, can give IBANQUE LEBEL (10) something to consider

3. GASPARD DES LOUPS – Out of the picture in all 3 starts this term, latterly 8th of 17 in a 2675m Class D at Le Mont-Saint-Michel last week, and can be written off

4. FRIPON D’AUTHISE – Alternates well between the amateur and claiming divisions, but has not been seen out since trotting 2nd of 14 in a 2675m Le Mont-Saint-Michel claimer 3 months ago. Barefoot for re-entry though and will generate some interest

5. FAST AND TONIC – Sanctioned in a 2500m Reims Class F mid-June. Has placed just twice in 10 amateur runs and is unlikely to garner much support

6. ELOGE DE LARA – Erratic sort that returned to victorious ways in a 2725m Lisieux Class E late-May. Boasts solid Cabourg references and, with form maintained, can again finish close

7. GAZOU PIQUENARD – Has not lived up to expectations recently, coming 10th of 17 in a 2875m Enghien claimer last week, and can be ruled out

8. EQUALITY – Given time to recuperate after faulting in a 2700m Graignes amateurs Class F on 1 May. Tends to go well for her owner-trainer and even racing shod, still looks a player

9. IOUP LA BOUM – Gives a good account for the most part when applied, most recently coming 4th of 13 in a 2700m Vire Class E last Monday, and will not be sent out at 40/1 this time around

10. IBANQUE LEBEL – Very hard to knock over past 2 months, most recently 2nd of 10 finishers in a 2650m Bordeaux Class E on 19 June. Debuts in the amateur division and can make it a winning one

11. MISTER INVICTUS – Last of 11, on re-entry, in a 2700m Vincennes Class C late-May. Has no experience of either the amateur category or racing clockwise, but is a quality individual with a lot to contribute. Place prospect

12. GRANIT GALAA – Seldom gets his nose in front but always acquits himself honestly and, while not a priority, his recent 5th of 11 in a 2800m Bernay amateurs Class G bodes well for his chances of getting a look-in

Summary: Clearly in super shape and entrusted to a talented amateur, IBANQUE LEBEL (10) takes a big drop in class and even from the second line should be able to wrap this up. Eddie Berthomier-Charles will still want to be wary of the better-positioned, and reconfigured, HABIBI (2) who needs a morale-booster after a surprisingly lacklustre Caen performance, and MISTER INVICTUS (11) who is barefoot following his seasonal bow. Hard to fault when focused in this category, EQUALITY (8) is shod for her return to Cabourg but can still squeeze herself into a payday-place.

SELECTIONS
IBANQUE LEBEL (10) – HABIBI (2) – MISTER INVICTUS (11) – EQUALITY (8)
C9 – PRIX HIP’POKER TOUR (PRIX DES ARUMS) – 2750m (a1m1/2) – Class F Race – Mounted – EUR € 19,500

1. KISSME COOL D’EB – Takes first competitive monté steps after a poor streak under harness, sanctioned mid-June in a 2800m Mondoubleau Class F and is not about to spring a surprise

2. KISS ME CASTELLE – 5th of 11 finishers, at 72/1, on monté debut in a 2825m Vire Class F just over 3 weeks ago. Unlikely to repeat but hind shoes off and, with application, can play a small role

3. KISS ME DE CORTEM – Disappointing in both codes, most recently sanctioned in a 2700m Graignes harness Class F, and will have few, if any, takers

4. KALIE GEMA – Has demonstrated good aptitude for the discipline, most recently 5th of 11 in a 2450m Caen Class E mid-June, but has considerable room for manoeuvre and looks a solid place prospect this time

5. KATHARINA DE MAI – Sanctioned in last 10, 8 this season, latterly a 2825m Sablé-sur-Sarthe harness Class F last weekend, and makes just her 2nd monté appearance with limited prospects

6. KAIA DU HAMEL – Outclassed the opposition in a 2475m Niort Class F on 23 June. Top jockey onboard this time and can make it 2 on the trot

7. KANA DE SUCE – Sanctioned as often as not, most recently a 2800m Chartres Class F on 19 June, but has ample ability and will not go home empty-handed if Florian Desmigneux manages to keep her trotting

8. KRILLE ELLIS – Sanctioned in a 2675m harness Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel last week. Hails from a yard firing on all cylinders, and is not without a chance of getting straight down to business

9. KLEM – Goes barefoot this time after finishing 7th of 9 finishers in a 2425m Angers Class E early last month. Tends to go well for Arthur Rebèche and should logically start to redeem herself

10. KALIE DU BLEQUIN – Put in a good final effort to come 3rd of 9 in a 2600m Nancy Class F a week ago. Is clearly making progress and is in with a realistic shout of making the frame

11. KUZA DU BOUILLON – Debuts in the discipline after coming 8th of 11 in a 2200m Caen harness Class E mid-June. Not the worst horse here but chances still slim

Summary: A very different horse when barefoot under the saddle, KAIA DU HAMEL (6) led the opposition a merry dance 12 days ago and with Benjamin Rochard in the irons this time, has every chance of doubling up. Sanctioned in her last two, KRILLE ELLIS (8) switches code for the first time, stays shod for the occasion, but has done enough under harness to be considered a serious player. KALIE GEMA (4) has yet to get off the mark but she has shown significant potential and should take well to Cabourg conditions. Similarly still a maiden, KALIE DU BLEQUIN (10) nevertheless always gives her best and, barefoot again, is not going to be far off the mark.

Summary: DONALYA (2) never landed a blow in an unfavorably run race at Toulouse last time but she is much better than that performance suggests and is good value to redeem herself. KASPIA TRIP (1) led from start to finish that day and remains competitive under a 3kg penalty, though her rivals are unlikely to allow her an easy time in front. UPSIDE DOWN (3) disappointed on handicap debut but shouldn’t be hastily condemned, especially off a reduced mark. Consistent WATHAB (4) shouldn’t be underestimated either.

16. BEYOND MY DREAMS –

Summary: On the evidence of her winning reappearance in the benchmark race, LADY LUNE (3) has the means to follow up under a penalty. However, LOUIS SKI (2) didn’t enjoy a favorable run of the race that day and ought to pose more of a threat on the revised terms.
