ECONOMICS (4) won what is really an Epsom Derby trial at York when bolting up by six lengths in the Dante Stakes (Gr.2) in May. He missed that possible race and has been given time to mature. He will make things interesting. JAYAREBE (5) and ALMAQAM (1) both have good form in the UK and can also be involved.

Summary: TRAFALGAR SQUARE (1) has some solid efforts of late and put in another honest display when second in a Group 3 race at Vichy in mid-July. He should score from LUIZA BERE (8) who is also one that rarely runs out of the frame. She found the Group 3 Class a bit too much last time. DOLLAR INDEX (3) is one for the each-way backers to latch on to. SOME SKYE (9) can also have a say at the business end.

Summary: BRIGHT THUNDER (2) has won two of her three starts, and won nicely at Chantilly in a Listed race in late June on the most recent run. Her trainer does well with his horses he sends to France. Her main threat is ROSE BLOOM (3) who was less than a length behind in second last time at Chantilly. She can make a race of it. RIBALTAGAIA (6) found Group 1 level too much last time but had good form before that and is in the mix. SPIRITUAL (10) heads the remainder.

Summary: PERROU (1) has been on great form of late with two wins on the turf at Vichy. The hat-trick of wins is highly possible despite the switch to the PSF and change of venue. ILLUSTRE BERE (2) has recent placed form at this track on his latest two runs and can once again have a say in proceedings. ELAUNEIL (4) was third two runs ago over track and trip and is a solid each-way option. VENICE WAY (6) has still to break his duck but can make the top four.

9. SIMPLY LOVELY – Won at this track and trip on July 7th when last racing in a Class 3 handicap. Hard to rule out

10. SISTER OF LOVE – Has six unplaced runs of late since a win over 1200m at Fontainebleau in a Class 3 handicap on March 25th. Has a place chance

LOVELY ANGEL (6) looks like the main danger, she won two runs ago at Le Touquet and is very honest. ISMAEL PAINT (5) is one to include in all place bet permutations. AVRILOMANOIR (8) likes this straight 1200m and was a good third recently behind SIMPLY LOVELY (9) in July at this track.

C1 – PRIX DES AMATEURS – 2875m (a2m) – Class G Amateur Drivers Race – Harness – EUR € 6,000

1. ILA D’OR DU VINOIS – Did not manage to confirm her Villedieu performance when last but one in a 3100m Savenay amateurs Class H a month back and can be passed over

2. HOURAGAN DANGUY – Imposed at Le Touquet a fortnight ago before faulting in a 2650m Portbail amateurs Class H last Sunday, and backs up with a realistic chance of making first 5

3. HOBBY DE L’EVRE – Faithful servant in the amateur division, sports a new configuration for the occasion, and will be expected to make up for his 9th of 13 in a 2725m Pornichet Class G last week

4. HARPER DE BANVILLE – Returns to the amateur division after trotting 6th of 13 in a 2725m Pornichet Class G a week ago. Could well have imposed here last month had he not faulted and, with application, can make amends

5. ISIS D’ERAH – Off the boil since late-April, most recently 11th of 13 in a 2850m Bréhal Class F on Monday, and backs up with little to no chance

6. GOLD GEDE – 6th of 11, behind IMOKO DU BOUILLON (11), in a 2300m amateurs Class G at Châteaubriant last Friday. Has a much better entry this time and looks principal threat to IMOKO DU BOUILLON (11)

7. INSTIGATEUR – Useful sort dropping back in category after coming 3rd of 10 in a 2900m Dozulé Class F last week, but shoes back on here and best to wait

8. HACKER DE MAHEY – Disappointing in 3 since winning at Abbeville 3.5 weeks ago, most recently 6th of 8 in a 3150m amateurs Class H at the same venue on Sunday and, even though reverting to a previous formula, is unlikely to influence the outcome

9. FANNY CAT – Failed to pull off the hat-trick when sanctioned at Les Sables-d’Olonne but reassured when 3rd of 10 in a 2875m Enghien amateurs Class F 11 days ago. 25m worse off this time but still looks competitively well-in

10. HEROINE DARCHE – 4th of 10 in a 3450m Class F at Agon-Coutainville 2.5 weeks ago. Incurs the penalty but at this level, looks a decent place prospect

11. IMOKO DU BOUILLON – 2nd of 11 in a 2300m amateurs Class G at Châteaubriant last Friday. Has been in fine form this term and looks the pick of the field

Summary: Very useful when focused, IMOKO DU BOUILLON (11) made up for a brace of sanctions when 2nd to a very good horse on his return to the amateur division last week and, with application, should be able to wrap this up. 6th that day, but 25m better off this time, GOLD GEDE (6) will have his chances, as will 2nd-line starter FANNY CAT (9) who has already won twice at this level over the summer. HEROINE DARCHE (10) got back in the game at Agon-Coutainville recently and even though shod and starting with the handicap, she still looks a player.

C2 – PRIX ALGINA – 2875m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 20,000

1. LINO DU HENNEQUIN – Debuted nicely at Carentan before faulting in a 2825m Class F at Sablé-sur-Sarthe 2.5 weeks ago. Has evident ability but others still easier to back

2. LAIKA DU LEARD – Failed to confirm her Erbray victory when 7th of 11 in a 2850m Bréhal Class E on 29 July, and already looks outclassed

3. LET IT BE – Stylish winner of a 2425m turf Class H at Rochefort-sur-Loire early-August. Should take well to Meslay conditions and must be afforded significant respect

4. LOUXOR DANICA – Professional-looking sort that has shown excellent aptitude for the game, latterly winning a 2425m Class H at Sainte-Marie-du-Mont earlier this month. In better company this time but can still double his money

5. LOOK REBEL – Has progressed well, most recently winning a 2700m Vittel Class H 3.5 weeks ago. Leading driver reining this time and the double is still on the table

6. LESDY MAGODA – Picked up where she left off following the break, coming 3rd of 9 in a 2600m Montignac Class E 3 weeks ago. Will have come on for the run but, in this category, will struggle to leave her mark

7. LUCRECE DE CORDAY – Won at Vichy late-June before getting on the wrong side of Lady Luck in a 2150m Class E at the same venue on 3 August. Has masses of untapped potential though and, on good behaviour, can impose

8. LASCA PRIOR – Unremarkable 5th of 7 in a 2600m Class E at La Roche-Posay late-June. Comes here fresh but others still preferred

9. LOIC D’AVEL – Twice in the frame before trotting 4th of 9 in a 2775m Class E at Les Sables-d’Olonne a month ago. Reunited with Anthony Barrier and should not be overlooked

10. LE MAC – Progressive sort that seldom disappoints when focused, latterly 3rd of 10 in a 2750m Class E at La Capelle 2.5 weeks ago. Unlikely to get off the mark but has 4 pads fitted this time and looks eminently capable of finishing close

Summary: Sent for a break after a solid career debut in May, LOUXOR DANICA (4) made short work of his first attempt on a hard surface and, given the success his trainer has had with youngsters, must be considered a serious proposition. Jacques Bruneau will still be keeping a keen eye on the capable LUCRECE DE CORDAY (7) who was not the most fortunate at Vichy, and the progressive LET IT BE (3) who opened his account just 11 days ago. Capable going both directions, LOOK REBEL (5) similarly lost his maiden tag last time out, and the engagement of Gabi Gelormini will do his prospects no disservice.

2. KARIOLA DE LOU – Flattering 5th of 14 in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class F 9 days ago and will struggle to make her mark here

3. KAPELLA FABULET – Unlucky 7th of 13, behind KITTY PIYA (5), in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Change of driver this time and looks a respectable first-3 candidate

4. KITA MESLOISE – Clearly useful but sanctioned in all 3 this term and will first need to re-establish her credentials

5. KITTY PIYA – Drops marginally in category after coming 4th of 13 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D on 2 August. Paul Ploquin takes over in the wagon and will be expected to finish in the mix

6. KOPAZE DE HOUELLE – Modest 7th of 9 in a 2625m Class D at La Rochelle late last month. Is proven in this configuration and, with application, can play an active role

7. KOH PHI PHI ISLAND – 4th of 11 in a 2700m Graignes Class F earlier in the month. Matthieu Abrivard engaged for the occasion and looks main danger to KALIPETTE JELOCA (10)

8. KEY WEST DE CHENU – 4th in a 2050m Feurs Class E early-July only to be disqualified. Gabi Gelormini in the sulky this time but still no more than a minor place prospect

9. KINA DU GOUTIER – Pleased at Le Mont-Saint-Michel last month but below-par in 2 since, latterly sanctioned in a 2050m Cabourg Class E 9 days ago, and can expect to have few takers

10. KALIPETTE JELOCA – Should not be too hastily-judged for recent 10th of 13 in a 2150m Argentan Class E mid-July. Has had time to get her house in order and with shoes off will be no pushover

11. KALISCA DE LA LEUE – Tricky sort but won a 2575m Château-du-Loir Class F 2.5 weeks ago. Anthony Barrier reining this time and must be taken seriously

Summary: Although unplaced at Argentan last time out, KALIPETTE JELOCA (10) is plainly a filly of ample ability and, racing barefoot for the first time, can open her 2024 account. She will still face opposition from KOH PHI PHI ISLAND (7), who boasts a 50% win-rate, and KALISCA DE LA LEUE (11) who returned to winning ways late last month. KAPELLA FABULET (3) is better than latest numbers would suggest and has been entrusted to Jean-Philippe Monclin who drove her to her lone victory.

C4 – PRIX LOUIS CHRETIEN – 2875m (a2m) – Class F Race – Harness – EUR € 20,000

1. I LOVE JAM – Sanctioned in a 3125m Questembert Class F on 4 August. Lost his way some time ago and can be written off

2. INCENIA DE HOUELLE – Comes to Meslay after posting 6 straight sanctions, most recently a 3150m Granville Class F on 6 August and, modified configuration or not, can be confidently passed over

3. IBIZA PACHA – 5th of 10 in a 2725m Class F at Pornichet 2 weeks ago. Is presently in fine shape, gets on well with Arnaud Desmottes, and will be competitive for a place in the frame

4. IASELMA – Has done nothing of note for some time, latterly 7th of 10 in a 2725m Pornichet Class F 3 weeks ago, and is unlikely to shake things up

5. IN LOVE WITH PUCH – Sanctioned in a 2450m amateurs Class H at Sainte-Marie-du-Mont earlier this month. Has nothing to prove in this category though and, if behaved, can play a leading role

6. IDOLA BELLA – Encouraged at Pornichet 3 weeks ago before being sanctioned in a 2850m Bréhal Class F 10 days ago and can expect to have few takers

7. IMPERIAL DE SUCE – Just missed out on victory in a 2675m Class F at Le Mont-Saint-Michel on 18 July and, in similar form, can impose this time

8. IROISE DES BAULTS – Surprise winner at Cabourg before coming 8th of 11 in a 2425m Sainte-Marie-du-Mont Class F on 4 August. Just front pads off this time but chances still limited

9. IZZIE D’ERONVILLE – Not the luckiest when 8th of 10 in a 2875m Enghien Class D 11 days ago. Entrusted to Anthony Barrier this time and, if focused, can get in on the action

10. ICI C’EST CHENU – 4th here last month before confirming in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E last week, and deserves to be taken seriously

11. IVOIRE DAIRPET – Placed here 3.5 weeks ago before coming 4th of 12 in a 2725m Cabourg Class E 9 days ago. Has already won under these conditions and is not capable of confirming

Summary: A tough nut to crack when focused, and recently close 2nd at Le Mont-Saint-Michel, IMPERIAL DE SUCE (7) will be driven for the first time by Matthieu Abrivard and, nicely-engaged in front, can win this. Jean-Philippe Monclin takes over on IN LOVE WITH PUCH (5) and will be expected to get him back on track. IVOIRE DAIRPET (11) starts 25m further back but recently set his personal best time and is very easy to like. IBIZA PACHA (3) may never have delivered here but she is currently on a good run of form and the addition of front pads may be just the ticket.

C5 – PRIX LAVANDE – 2875m (a2m) – Class E Race – Harness – EUR € 20,000

1. KAISER VRIE – Unlucky not to repeat his terrific Laval success when sanctioned in a 2725m Pornichet Class F on 18 July. Has talent to burn and, with application, can bring home the bacon

2. KEMISSORO – Disappointing this year, most recently 7th of 11, on return from a break, in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 2 weeks ago, and can be ruled out

3. KADRO D’ARIANE – Last of 7, on comeback, in a 3000m Class E at Rochefort-sur-Loire 11 days ago, and will not be troubling the judge

4. KOOL LUDOIS – Lost his maiden status [at 15th time of asking] when courageously winning a 2725m Pornichet Class F 2 weeks ago. In better company this time but should nonetheless acquit himself competitively

5. KENZO DE CLOPEAU – 5th of 9 in a 2475m Royan Class E late last month. Is better than the result would suggest and looks a decent place prospect this time around

6. KOMAN – Got back in the game when 3rd of 10 in a 2800m Vichy Class E 12 days ago. Sports the same configuration and will be worth monitoring

7. KATUDI – Sanctioned in a 2400m Amiens Class E a fortnight ago. Blows hot and cold but is an excellent servant when focused and is not incapable of losing his maiden tag

8. KARTING BOY – Has not been seen out since winning a 2700m Vincennes monté Class E late-December. Hind shoes off for re-entry but will have other priorities

Summary: After getting off the mark at Laval last month, KAISER VRIE (1) encountered interference at Pornichet next time, but there is no question regarding his form and can play a leading role if Henri Touvais keeps him out of trouble. That being said, the complicated KATUDI (7) is no slouch when focused, as he showed when reined by Matthieu Abrivard at Angers earlier in the year. KENZO DE CLOPEAU (5) has been progressing this term and the inclusion of Jean-Philippe Monclin into the equation will only spice things up.

1. HADES DU GOUTIER – 7th of 10 in a 3125m Questembert Class F on 4 August. Has been disappointing for some time and will have few friends

2. HERMINE DU FAN – Makes first appearance since coming 9th of 12 in a 2825m Sablé-sur-Sarthe Class F 13 months ago and can be passed over

3. HIT PERRINE – Showed improvement when 4th of 8 in a Class E under these conditions on 30 July, but will struggle to repeat

4. HARRY DE MIENNAIS – 5th, a place behind HIT PERRINE (3) in a Class E over course and distance late-July. Has already won 5 this year and, while unlikely to make it 6, should nevertheless acquit himself competitively

5. HELIA DE BAFFAIS – In the frame in last 3, most recently 3rd behind HARFAN DES GRANGES (8) in a 3125m Questembert Class E 11 days ago, and can challenge for the win this time

6. HADES DE L’ITON – Reassuring 5th of 12 in a 3000m Class F at Rochefort-sur-Loire 11 days ago, but in this company will have little to offer

7. HELIOS D’ANCLEMAX – 4th of 12 in a 2800m Bernay Class E late last month. Placed just once in 3 here but is a class above most others in the field. Claim

8. HARFAN DES GRANGES – Produced a brace of good performances, including success over track and trip, before coming last of 8 (after faulting) in a 2150m Enghien Class F on Sunday. With application, can play a prominent part

9. HALL BLACK MESS – Decent 5th of 15 in a 2825m Class E at Sablé-sur-Sarthe 2.5 weeks ago. Is new to the venue and will be no easy touch if he takes to the new conditions

10. HEMERA TURGOT – 6th of 11 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Springs the occasional surprise but too infrequently to be considered a player

11. HAPPY MARANCOURT – Failed to confirm her Beaumont victory when finishing 11th of 15 in a 2800m Vichy Class F early last month. Has been given time to get her house in order and, racing shod, can put things right

Summary: Presently enjoying a decent run of form, HELIOS D’ANCLEMAX (7) ran 2nd here, in the day’s configuration, last time at the venue, and can return to winning ways, although HELIA DE BAFFAIS (5) has been knocking at the door over recent months and her latest performance here did not go unnoticed. HARFAN DES GRANGES (8) must be forgiven his recent Enghien blip and can get straight back in the game. HALL BLACK MESS (9) seldom gets his nose in front but is consistently in the thick of things and unlikely to disappoint.

1. JEAN NO DU MARGAS – 4th here last month before finishing 7th of 8 in a 2750m Cabourg Class E last week. Has evident ability but in this category may be biting off more than he can chew

2. JOCONDE DE RHEVE – Reassuring 5th of 6 in a 2950m Saint-Malo Class E last week. Reverts to a previous formula, but still has a lot more to find

3. JOJO TOONS – Makes first appearance since coming last but one in a 2700m Vincennes Class D early-April. Here for reasons of conditioning and can be passed over

4. JAVELOT DE HOUELLE – Has not been seen out since coming 6th of 15 in a 3125m Angers Class E 4 months ago. Shoes on and no threat

5. JAGUAR DE KARA – Tenacious 2nd of 12 in a 2750m Cabourg Class F on 23 July. Has hardly put a foot wrong this season and can play a prominent role if he keeps his action together

6. JET DES MALBERAUX – Good 3rd, a place behind JEREMY D’AS (11) in a 2500m Class E at La Rochelle 2.5 weeks ago. Not a priority but is still worth monitoring

7. JOLIE INDIENNE – 2nd in a 2875m Enghien Class E 3 weeks ago before being disqualified and placed last. Won her only start here and must not be underestimated

8. JAURIAS – Confirmed his Ecommoy success in a Class E over course and distance 3.5 weeks ago. Faces a marginally stiffer test this time but still looks the one to beat

9. JERZINO VICI – 6th of 10 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class D late last month. Is not the easiest to handle but will generate some interest

10. JAYA DES BROUSSES – Respectable 3rd of 7 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class E 3 weeks ago, on return from a spell. Yet to prove herself racing clockwise but in current form is very hard to knock

11. JEREMY D’AS – Has been knocking at the door all season, latterly 2nd of 8 in a 2500m Class E at La Rochelle 2.5 weeks ago. Is due a win at this point and must be considered a leading contender

12. JOCKEY – Drops back in category after finishing 6th of 11 in a 2750m Cabourg Class A 2 weeks ago. Just front pads fitted this time and, on good behaviour, can pick up a cheque

13. JADE VENESI – 5th of 6 in a 2750m Cabourg Class D a fortnight back. Has a good entry here, races with 4 pads fitted this time, and with Jean-Philippe Monclin reining, will be afforded every chance

14. JUNIOR DU CHERISAY – 7th of 10 finishers in a 2750m Cabourg Class D 3 weeks ago. Has been off the boil for some time and is not going to influence the outcome

15. JASMINE D’OUILLY – 9th of 11 in a 2875m Enghien Class D earlier this month. Has made no impact all this year and is not about to change her ways

Summary: Back at the top of his game with 2 wins in succession, most recently over course and distance, JAURIAS (8) has an excellent replacement in Gabi Gelormini, and can make it 3 on the trot. He is unlikely to have it all his own way though considering the form JEREMY D’AS (11) and JOLIE INDIENNE (7) have been showing. Plainly close to her race, JAYA DES BROUSSES (10) is hard to fault at the moment and returns to racing right-handed with a good hand to play.

SELECTIONS

1. HOLDING GIRL – 6th of 10 in a 3000m Châteaubriant Class F on 6 August and can expect to find this an even more testing task

2. ADAMO DIPA – Placed at Les Sables-d’Olonne before coming 6th of 13 in a 2150m Enghien Class F a fortnight ago. Matthieu Abrivard maintains faith though and should be taken seriously

3. HA YES MAX – 4th to GEDEON DAIRPET (8) in a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D last Friday. Has the capacity to win a race of this nature but looks more a minor place prospect on this occasion

4. HAMILTON FIRST – Was rewarded for his efforts in Normandy before losing his action in a 3100m Granville Class A on 4 August. Is in cracking shape and, on good behaviour, can more than make amends

5. MISTER DONALD – Returns to racing clockwise after finishing last of 13 in a 2150m Enghien Class D on 20 July and is not about to shake things up

6. FALCOM DU BOCAGE – Off the boil since the spring, most recently last but one in a 3100m Granville Class A 11 days ago, and can be confidently ruled out

7. GERGOVIE DE GODREL – Produced an 87/1 surprise when 4th to HAILEY D’OURVILLE (10) in a 2725m Cabourg Class E earlier in the month, but a repeat seems improbable

8. GEDEON DAIRPET – As tricky as they come but smart winner of a 2300m Châteaubriant Class D last week and can make a big splash if he keeps his mind on the game

9. HARMONY LA NUIT – Quickly sanctioned in a 2725m Cabourg Class E last week. Form is not in doubt though and, if focused, can figure prominently

10. HAILEY D’OURVILLE – Got back in the winners’ circle when easily winning a 2725m Cabourg Class E 9 day ago and will not be available anywhere close to 21/1 this time. Chance

Summary: Winner at Calirefontaine before being sanctioned when on course for a repeat at Granville earlier this month, HAMILTON FIRST (4) has just hind shoes off this time and Louis Baudoin will be loathe to allow the same thing to happen twice. HAILEY D’OURVILLE (10) put on quite the show at Cabourg last time out and, if still on the boil, can impose. GEDEON DAIRPET (8) put some shocking efforts behind him to win at Châteaubriant, and the same caveat applies. HARMONY LA NUIT (9) is still winless this year but is plainly in form and will not be far off the mark if Corentin Gourgand keeps her trotting.

2. GIRAFFE – Holding form well and was fourth last time out in a handicap at Lyon-Parilly over 2400m on 8 May. Returns from a break but has a winning chance

3. SEA BREAKER – Has struggled in her last two starts and was 15th last time out in a handicap at this course over 2800m on 18 July. Capable of doing better but others are preferred

4. LOUVAGNY – Struggled in his last two starts and was 12th last time out in a handicap at ParisLongchamp over 2500m on 14 May 2023. Returns from a lengthy break and is likely to need the run

5. SAINT HELLIER – Has really struggled of late and was tenth last time out in a handicap at Deauville over 1900m on 28 July. Needs major improvement to win

6. EQUUS VINCIT – Did not show his best when 6th last time out in a Conditions race at Saint-Malo over 1800m on 15 July. Better over a bit further but should fight out the finish

7. ALSIMRYA – Not at all disgraced when 5th last time out in a handicap at Dieppe over 2200m on 23 July. Capable of making the frame

8. ROMANTIC SCENE – Has not shown much in her two starts of this year and was 5th last time out in a Conditions race at Aix-les-Bains over this distance on 14 July. Fitter now and could get into the frame

9. BAZOQUES – Unreliable but was runner-up in a Conditions race last time out over this course and distance on 20 July. Can go one better

Summary: GIRAFFE (2) is returning from a break but is consistent and can win a race like this if fit. EQUUS VINCIT (6) is probably at very best over a bit further but does have a winning chance in an open-looking race. DIANE’STAR (1) won a handicap over a bit further last time out but does deserve respect. ALSIMRYA (7) was not disgraced last time out and is another to consider.

3. FASHIONSPAN – Holding her form and was third last time out in a handicap at this course over 2800m on 7 August. Might play a minor role

4. VIRTUS – Imreliable and he did not show his best when tenth last time out in a handicap over this course and distance on 24 July. Capable of earning some money when in the mood

9. DARLYVI – Showed what she is capable of when scoring a handicap win at Aix-les-Bains over 2500m on 14 July. Carries a 2kg penalty but could play a minor role

10. WILLY BOY – Distance suited but did struggle over this track and trip last time out when 14th in a handicap on 24 July. Won his penultimate start and is capable of an upset

Summary: WILLY WINNER (1) did not show his best last time out and is probably better on the PSF but did run well enough in his penultimate start to get the vote to score. ZARICA (5) is knocking hard at the door again and knows how to win races. HADLEIGH (7) has only been fair of late but is capable of winning. 9. AKENATOR – Has lost his way of late and was 12th last time out in a handicap at Saint-Malo over 2500m on 8 August. Others are preferred

Summary: MISS ROAZHON (1) and ALROMY (3) were second and third in a handicap over this track and trip last month and look very likely to fight out the finish. MISS ROAZHON (1) could confirm that form and finish ahead of ALROMY (3). EXHIT (6) needs to find a few lengths to beat those two selections but can contest the finish. Summary: SANS VOIX (2) and BATEAU BLANC (1) have not really been at their best this year but can redeem themselves in this race. SANS VOIX (2) flopped in a Listed race last time out but should do better in a race like this. BATEAU BLANC (1) struggled in the Rome Derby but can do a lot better this distance. 13. FAKIR DE MAHEY – High-class veteran and proven Group performer with solid form references/credentials to his name, including a last-start 2nd in the Group II Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère over 2875m at Enghien on 27 July. Not taken lightly

Summary: Undefeated in 2 starts on this course (both over 2925m), KING COLE (SWE) (3) sets a good standard and looks capable of preserving his 100% track-and-trip record in this Group III opening event. 6. KALMIA QUICK – Talented, proven over speed courses/distances and has sound references and form credentials at a higher level. Wasnt disgraced when 7th in a 2700m Group II at Vincennes on 8 June – not taken lightly

He has thrived in this shoeing configuration – beaten once in 5 starts – and looked better than ever when making a winning reappearance after a 4-month absence. He ought to continue his momentum/winning streak, even over this shorter distance. JALOUSIE DE L’ISLE (9), despite a second-row starting berth, and KALMIA QUICK (6), who has references at a higher level, are capable of making life difficult for the selection.

C3 – PRIX REVENUE – 2925m (a2m) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 29,000

1. JOKER DE L’EPINE – Went off the boil some time ago and is unlikely to trouble the judge on the evidence of recent outings/displays, the latest (disqualified) at Hyeres on 2 August. Others preferred

2. JUST FOR YOU – Unreliable but is not entirely incapable of getting into the picture, though has no more than a place chance after her last-start 6th over this course and distance on 27 July. Outsider

5. JITANE VALLEE – Honest mare with sound references/form credentials and whose competitiveness at this level is beyond doubt. Acquitted herself well (6th) over 2875m in a stronger race/field at Enghien on 13 July – not taken lightly

6. JINA DE L’ORMERIE – Didnt go unnoticed when finishing 6th (shod) on this course over 2925m on 8 July after a year’s absence and will have tightened up with the benefit of that comeback outing. Better expected racing unshod on this occasion

7. JOB DU PERSIL – Out of sorts recently – finished 7th on this course over 2150m on 5 August – but is ideally engaged here under the conditions and has the undeniable means to reconnect with success. One to beat

Summary: JOB DU PERSIL (7), ideally engaged just €200 from the qualifying limit, ought to take advantage of the conditions by recapturing the winning thread. He will, however, have to thwart the likely challenge of JINA DE L’ORMERIE (6), after an encouraging comeback, and consistent JEANBLANC DUEM (3) whose form/competitiveness at this level is beyond doubt. JITANE VALLEE (5) appeals most of the remainder.

1. INCROYABLE STAR – Often disqualified but has undeniable means/ability and confirmed as much with a last-start victory over 2150m on this course in an amateur race on 10 August. Should remain competitive, even at this level, if applied/diligent

2. ISPAHAN DE CAREL – Delicate, lightly raced trotter with sound references – seldom far off the mark when avoiding disqualification. Didn’t go unnoticed when 6th (shod) on this course over 2150m on 27 July and will be barefoot now – dark horse

3. ILLICO RIVOIS – Consistent and reliable performer in good form/physical condition, albeit at a lower level. Finished 2nd on this course in a 2150m amateur race on 10 August – will find this tougher

4. IWAN D’AVEL – Winner over 2800m at Bollène in June but finished unplaced (9th) and was disqualified (over this track and trip on 29 July) in subsequent appearances. Could do better with a shoe-fitting adjustment

9. ILLUSTRE FERM – Ultra-consistent performer with sound references/form credentials, including a last-start 3rd on this course over 2700m on 20 July. Gets along well with David Békaert and should have a role to play

10. ISIS DE POULINE – An honest hard-knocking mare who usually acquits herself well when remaining wise (avoiding disqualification) and confirmed as much by finishing 2nd on this course over 2700m on 10 August. Not taken lightly

11. ILLICO DE CASTELLE – Unreliable and often at fault (disqualified in 5 of his last 8 starts), though seldom far off the mark when avoiding disqualification – finished 2nd over track and trip on 17 July. Disqualified here in his latest outing on 29 July

12. IDEFIX D’OLMEN – Consistent hard-knocker whose form/competitiveness in this grade is beyond doubt – has references at a higher level and didn’t go unnoticed last time when a creditable  6th on this course over 2700m on 5 August. Keep safe

Summary: IROCCO DE VIETTE (8), having won 3 of his 4 previous outings, should be excused/forgiven for his disappointing latest performance (9th) and looks good value to regain the winning thread (make amends). IMOKO DEUX (5) wasn’t winning out of turn last time and is likely to pose the biggest threat although consistent IDEFIX D’OLMEN (12), ideally engaged at the ceiling of earnings, and ILLUSTRE FERM (9), especially with David Békaert at the helm, are also serious contenders for the podium.

3. KARCIMONT – Won back-to-back outings at Lyon-Parilly earlier this year (unshod) and is best watched for now until reverting to that shoe-fitting. Unplaced (10th) over 2925m at this venue on 31 July

4. KING CASH CEKE – Disqualified more often than not (in 9 of 15 appearances) but has undeniable means – with two wins, a 2nd, and a last-start 3rd on this course over 2925m in his 6 completed outings. Question of wisdom

5. KINGDOM DU LIAMONE – Unreliable and is out of sorts – unplaced in his last 3 appearances (all on this course). Could only finish 7th over 2925m on 3 August, so others are preferred

6. KNOX JENILOU – Complicated but has considerable ability – won 3 of 7 completed races (11 starts) including his latest outing over 2150m at this venue on 13 July. Candidate for success

7. KARMA DE BERTRANGE – Showed early promise but hasnt been as effective this year, though recent displays at this venue (finished 4th in consecutive outings, the latest over 2925m on 27 July) have been encouraging. Place chance

8. KARTING DE PLAY – Smart, unexposed sort – won his first 3 outings and shouldnt be hastily condemned for blotting his copybook on this course (disqualified) over 2925m on 27 July. Keep safe

Summary: KING CASH CEKE (4) remains complicated but needs only to prove his diligence/application (by avoiding disqualification) to set the record straight and redeem himself by reconnecting with success. He is, however, likely to be kept up honest by KNOX JENILOU (6), a winner on this course recently, and KARTING DE PLAY (8), who shouldn’t be condemned for his last-start failure (disqualification). KENAVO DU BOUILLON (2) isn’t underestimated and retains the means to pose a threat, too.

3. LADY DRY – Has disqualification issues and was disqualified last time out at this course on 5 August. Capable of being a threat when wise

4. L’ENVIE D’ENZO – Disqualified three times in just six starts, including last time out at Beaumont-de-Lomagne on 14 July. Has won twice and is capable of an upset

5. LINAS – Probably better over shorter distances and was 7th last time out in Class C over this track and trip on 15 July. Can make the frame

6. L’AMIRAL D’EURVAD – Has disqualification issues and was disqualified last time out at Hyeres on 2 August. Could earn some minor money when wise

7. L’ASTRAGALE – Returned from a break to score in Class E at this course over 2150m on 20 July. Has also won over this distance, so seems capable of completing the hat-trick

Summary: After convincing back-to-back victories on this course, L’ASTRAGALE (7) is hard to oppose and looks likely to complete her hat-trick. LOGARITMO (2), himself a last-start winner, is the biggest danger although LADY DRY (3) has the means to pose a threat if remaining wise/avoiding disqualification. LINAS (5) isn’t incapable of challenging for a spot on the podium either.

8. FAKIR DE LARRE – On a very long losing run but is in good shape and was tired last time out in Class G at Hyeres over 2850m on 2 August. Capable of making the frame

Summary: Hard race to assess although HATTUSA (3) and EQUALITY (4) seem best equipped to fight for victory, especially given their favorable starting positions behind the autostart. GUNNER (1) showed improvement last time and needs only to confirm/build on that to play a leading role. FILOU RIEZAIS (7) isn’t underestimated either with all four shoes removed for this engagement.
