French Selections Thursday 31st

R1 VINCENNES [L-H]
C1 – PRIX DE SOULAC – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 68,000

1. MARION FOUTY BON – Flattering 5th here before being sanctioned early in a 2850m Parilly Class C 3 weeks ago, and others easier to trust right now

2. HEMMA DE BRIKVIL – Ran good 2nd at Enghien before failing to fire, ultimately sanctioned, in a 2700m Class C behind HELLO SPORT (11) here early last month. Has had time to recalibrate and Franck Nivard will be loathe to allow a repeat performance

3. ENJOY THE GAME – Sprang a 19/1 surprise when 2nd of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class C early-July. Has not been seen since but is barefoot for the occasion and is worth keeping an eye on

4. FALCO DU DOUET – Modest individual that ran 6th of 12 behind ELIXIR DE CRENNES (7) in a 2700m Class C at Le Croise-Laroche on 2 October, and has no possible chance

5. HULYSSE DIGEO – 3rd of 16 in a 2200m Caen Class B 11 days ago when denied a run. Is clearly in excellent shape and can win this if his driver keeps him out of trouble

6. CYRANO DE B. – Pleased in a Class C here before finishing 8th of 13, behind GREAT OF MADRIK (14), in a Class B over course and distance on 4 October. Hind shoes off and will need to find more

7. ELIXIR DE CRENNES – Like a horse reborn lately, most recently winning a 2700m Segre Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Seldom delivers at Vincennes though and is not about to start

8. FOLLOW ME FLASH – 10th of 11, when preparing for this, in a 2625m Alencon Class E early-October. Won over 2850m during the summer, races barefoot for the occasion, and should not be overlooked

9. HUBBLE DU VIVIER – Gave a good account behind GIPSY DE CHAMANT (13) in a 2850m Class C here 3 weeks ago, coming 5th of 10, and under these conditions could well return to victorious ways

10. GABELOU CARISAIE – Pleasant 4th to ELIXIR DE CRENNES (7) in a 2700m Segre Class D 3.5 weeks ago. Is an honest trotter with decent Vincennes references but still looks out of his depth

11. HELLO SPORT – Returns to the capital after running 4th of 12 in a 2850m Parilly Class D on 18 September. Regularly in the thick of things at the moment and is unlikely to be far off the mark

12. HARRY CARISAIE – Reassuring 4th behind GIPSY DE CHAMANT (13) in a 2850m Class C here 3 weeks ago. Eric Raffin stays faithful but nevertheless faces a somewhat stiffer test this time around

13. GIPSY DE CHAMANT – Has been knocking at the door for some time, most recently good 2nd of 10 in a 2850m Class C here on 11 October. Plainly close to her race and looks dangerous

14. GREAT OF MADRIK – 6th of 13 in a 2700m Vincennes Class B earlier in the month. Is never far from faulting but drops marginally in category and can get in on the action if David Thomain manages to keep him trotting

15. GINKGO THELOIS – Has not been seen out since finishing 8th of 14 in a 2100m Class B here last April, and will need the run

16. HERE WE GO – Has 2 runs under his belt following a long layoff, latterly last but one in a 2850m Class C here a fortnight ago. Is in competition mode this time however and looks a player

Summary: Easy winner at Enghien, beating some quality 7yo’s, HULYSSE DIGEO (5) was rather unlucky at Caen next time, but Jean-William Hallais will be confident he can set the record straight. HUBBLE DU VIVIER (9) took a couple of runs to come to hand this term but showed here last time that he is back on track. GIPSY DE CHAMANT (13) had his measure that day and should again play a prominent role, as should the wonderfully-engaged, and barefoot, HERE WE GO (16) who has been specifically prepared for this.

SELECTIONS
HULYSSE DIGEO (5) – HUBBLE DU VIVIER (9) – GIPSY DE CHAMANT (13) – HERE WE GO (16)
C2 – PRIX DES OEILLETS – 2200m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 33,000

1. MANON DU CHENE – Qualified in 1’20″0 at Caen on 8 August. Debuts in good company and is unlikely to shake things up first time out

2. MAGIC GIRL – Failed to confirm respectable qualification when 7th of 9 to MARALE SIBEY (8) in a 2000m Class F at La Capelle 3.5 weeks ago, and can be passed over

3. MY LADY PRINCESS – Qualified without fanfare before trotting 4th of 11, on debut, in a 2400m Borely Class F on 2 October. Pitted against better this time and will struggle to make her presence felt

4. MYGIRL DES FORGES – Did not enjoy the best of trips when 6th of 8 finishers, behind MELBA DU GERS (5), in a 2875m Enghien Class B 2 weeks ago. Caught the eye however and will be expected to show improvement

5. MELBA DU GERS – Took her game up a notch a fortnight ago, finishing 4th of 8 finishers in a 2875m Enghien Class B. JMB at the helm for first time and is not to be underestimated

6. MAESTRIA GALAA – Produced a fine effort on debut 11 days ago, coming 2nd of 8 in a 2450m Caen Class D. Will have progressed for the run and is not incapable of getting her nose in front

7. MOLINE DE PADD – 4th of 8 finishers in a 2050m Cabourg Class D a fortnight ago. Is clearly capable but in this company will have her work cut out

8. MARALE SIBEY – Qualified in 1’16″1 before comfortably winning a 2000m Class F at La Capelle 3.5 weeks ago, first time out. Faces a tougher test here but still represents a decent place prospect

9. MARIE OH FREDLAU – Won on debut at Les Andelys before coming 4th of 8 in Enghien race of reference before subsequently being disqualified, but others still easier to trust

10. MIDWAY LADY – Solid 3rd of 10 finishers in a 2150m Enghien Class C a month ago. Gets a leading driver this time and is not going to be sent out at 42/1. Chance

11. MOLLY DU VALLON – 5th of 8 finishers, a place behind MELBA DU GERS (5) in a 2875m Enghien Class B 2 weeks ago. Has ground to make up but can still get a look-in

12. MARION D’ATOUT – Thoroughly professional winner of her 2050m Cabourg Class E debut on 24 October. Finds very different conditions this time but looks a serious filly in the making and can wrap this up

13. MOUSKIE DE GUEZ – Made up for debut sanction when 2nd of 7 finishers in a Class D over course and distance on 13 September. Has had time to freshen up and, while not a priority, is still good enough to make first 5

Summary: After having qualified in fine fashion during the summer, MARION D’ATOUT (12) made short work of her debut last week and if still on the boil, can make her Vincennes debut a winning one. David Thomain will still be keeping a watchful eye on the promising MIDWAY LADY (10) for whom Alexandre Abrivard has been drafted in, and MARALE SIBEY (8) who also made no bones about winning at the first time of asking. MAESTRIA GALAA (6) showed considerable potential on her recent debut and Yoann Lebourgeois will have a reasonable chance of getting her off the mark.

SELECTIONS
MARION D’ATOUT (12) – MIDWAY LADY (10) – MARALE SIBEY (8) – MAESTRIA GALAA (6)
C3 – PRIX DE VALLAURIS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000

1. LOBELIE DE GODREL – Has not been seen out since finishing 6th of 8 in a 2200m monté Class C here late-August. Just front pads fitted but will have other priorities

2. LADY DU CHENE – Sanctioned on re-entry in a 2200m Caen Class D 11 days ago. Has never disappointed in the day’s configuration and returns to racing left-handed with a good hand to play

3. LOVE ME AGAIN – Sports pads for first time after finishing 7th of 10, behind LADY BIRD JENILAT (7), in a 2775m Class B at Les Sables-d’Olonne 10 days ago, but others still preferred

4. LA MISS ROYALE – Makes Vincennes debut after running 4th of 11 finishers in a 2200m Caen Class D 11 days ago. Is close to her race and although unlikely to impose this time, can still make first 5

5. LUCY DU RILER – Opened her account at Francheville only to be beaten by a very good horse in a Class E over course and distance on 20 September. Has earned the right to race in this category and is not about to let the side down

6. LADY DU POMMEREUX – Last of 10, behind LUNA D’ARNHEM (11), in a Class D over track and trip on 24 September, and is not about to cause an upset

7. LADY BIRD JENILAT – Won at Laval before running 3rd of 10 in a 2775m Class B at Les Sables-d’Olonne 10 days ago and will be no easy touch if she adapts to new profile

8. LILIBET – Won 2 going clockwise before coming 4th of 13, behind LOUVE RANAISE (13), in a Class D over course and distance on 1 October. Is a filly with untapped potential and should not be too far off the mark

9. LATINA TOURNIBOIS – 9th of 10, behind LUNA D’ARNHEM (11), in a Class D over track and trip on 24 September. Is not without merit but seems to be taking on too much this time

10. LADY PETTEVINIERE – Unseen since finishing last of 9 in a 2875m Enghien Class C mid-August. Shoes on and no threat

11. LUNA D’ARNHEM – Respectable 6th of 10 in a Class D over course and distance on 24 September, but has a lot more to find on this occasion

12. LETTY DE BEYLEV – 7th of 11 finishers, on return to competition on 12 October, in a 2450m Caen Class C. Sports pads this time but others still easier to trust

13. LOUVE RANAISE – Sanctioned on re-entry before finishing a good 3rd of 13 in a Class D over course and distance on 1 October. Entrusted to David Thomain here and looks a serious proposition

14. LINAYA DU CHATELET – Won her first 2 before being edged in a 2875m Enghien Class D a fortnight ago. Eric Raffin back in the bike and will be expected to give LOUVE RANAISE (13) a run for her money

15. LOUISIANE MAGNY – Last but one, when being prepared for this in a 2850m Class C here 9 days ago. Has yet to deliver over main track but has bags of potential and must be taken seriously

Summary: A thorough professional since her first steps on the track, LOUVE RANAISE (13) made an excellent debut over the main track early this month and with four pads fitted for the first time, can bring home the bacon. That being said, LINAYA DU CHATELET (14) graduates to Vincennes after just missing out on the hat-trick at Enghien, and will similarly have her chances. Just €190 from elimination LOUISIANE MAGNY (15) has 2 races under her belt, returns to racing with pads and is unlikely to disappoint. LADY BIRD JENILAT (7) has turned a corner recently and will have a lot to offer if she takes to the new conditions.

SELECTIONS
LOUVE RANAISE (13) – LINAYA DU CHATELET (14) – LOUISIANE MAGNY (15) – LADY BIRD JENILAT (7)
C4 – PRIX DE PONTORSON – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class D Race – Harness – EUR € 40,000

1. KAMBRIA JOSSELYN – 10th of 15 in a 2150m Enghien Class D 3 weeks ago. Has been off the boil for some time and can be ruled out

2. KLASSE DE BRUZEAU – Steps back up in class after winning a 2100m claimer here on 24 September, but has no realistic chance

3. KEMILLA DE BRION – Last of 14, on return from her spell, in a Class C over course and distance a fortnight ago. Still in preparation mode though and best to wait

4. KELLY JANE – 11th of 14, behind KULTA (6), when being prepared for this in a Class C over course and distance a fortnight ago. Has very good references under these conditions and looks the horse to beat

5. KOURGA DE LOU – 6th of 14, behind KULTA (6), when being prepared for this, in a Class C over course and distance a fortnight ago. Has yet to deliver at Vincennes but enjoys an excellent opportunity this time around

6. KULTA – 4th of 14 in a Class C over course and distance a fortnight ago. Is never far from faulting but is clearly at the top of her game and, with application, can finish in the mix

7. KIRA BO FACE – Gave an excellent account in Hamburg before being sanctioned over 2100m at Wolvega on 12 October. Reunited with Eric Raffin and will have a lot to contribute if she stays in stride

8. KALIDA MANIA – Non partante

9. KEOLA D’HERIPRE – Useful filly making first appearance since coming 4th of 9 in a 2300m Borely Class C last May, and will need the outing

10. KIMIKO DU DOUBS – 6th of 13 in a 2800m Cordemais Class B on 6 October. Won under these conditions last winter, races barefoot this time, but is not an obvious priority

11. KALICIA JOSSELYN – Showed early promise but has since lost her way, latterly sanctioned at the start of a 2450m Caen Class C 11 days ago, and cannot be considered a player

12. KAY LEE DU CAMPUS – Sanctioned early in a 2450m Caen Class C 11 days ago. Should not be too hastily-judged and Benjamin Rochard is unlikely to let the same thing happen twice

13. KALITA D’HENINEL – Won at Parilly before finishing 7th of 14 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B early this month. Races shod this time though and others easier to back

14. KETY DU GOUTIER – Last of 6, on return from a spell, in a 2450m Caen Class C 11 days ago. Has yet to disappoint here and is not about to start. Chance

15. KOSY D’ERONVILLE – Has not been seen out since faulting in a 2050m Cabourg Class D mid-August. Has evident ability but is shod for comeback and best to hold off

16. KHALEESI SMART – 9th of 13, behind KIMIKO DU DOUBS (10), in a 2800m Cordemais Class B conditioner 3.5 weeks ago. Excels at Vincennes, and with Gabi Gelormini back in the bike, can bring the fight to KELLY JANE (4)

Summary: Productive here last winter, KELLY JANE (4) has 3 conditioners in her since the break, goes first-time barefoot, and looks thoroughly up to the task of securing her first objective of the year. Ideally-engaged at the limit of earnings, KHALEESI SMART (16) is shod to preference following her comeback run and, not once out of the frame here, looks the principal danger. Hard to fault when focused, KOURGA DE LOU (5) goes barefoot this time and after a convincing re-entry run, looks competitive. A veritable steamroller when unshod, KETY DU GOUTIER (14) is similarly barefoot and must be considered a serious player.

SELECTIONS
KELLY JANE (4) – KHALEESI SMART (16) – KOURGA DE LOU (5) – KETY DU GOUTIER (14)
C5 – PRIX DU DORAT – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class A Race – Harness – EUR € 71,000

1. IMPERIAL MABON – Quality element but has not raced since coming 4th of 12 in a 2850m Gr.3 here last February. Shoes on and no danger

2. IRIS FROM – Non partante

3. IXORA – Serious mare that beat a host of 7yo’s to win a 2750m Cabourg Class E on 5 October. In better company this time but reverts to a previous configuration and can hold her own. First 5

4. INDIGO PIERJI – Made up for Vitre performance when 3rd of 13 in a 2450m Caen Class C on 12 October. Is not about to impose but will not be a shrinking violet either

5. IRON JET – 3rd of 11, a place behind INTOUCHABLE (7), in a Class D over course and distance 11 days ago. Steps up in category but has the wherewithal to finish close

6. IRINA DE BAILLY – Disappointing in last 3, latterly 9th of 15 behind ILAYA (10) in a Class B over course and distance a month ago, and can be passed over

7. INTOUCHABLE – Has done nothing but improve of late, latterly 2nd of 11 in a Class D over track and trip on 20 October, and will be expected to contest the finish

8. IVRIG VIKING – Makes first appearance since running 7th of 13 in a 2800m Bernay Class E on 25 August and will have little to contribute

9. IPALIO – Surprise 3rd of 15, a place behind ILAYA (10) in a Class B over course and distance a month ago. Eric Raffin in the bike again but is unlikely to repeat

10. ILAYA – Barring a Laval sanction has been hard to fault this year, most recently 4th of 16 in a 2200m Caen Class B 11 days ago. Excellent here late last month and will not be far off the mark

11. INSTINCT D’AM – 12th of 16 behind ILAYA (10) in a 2200m Caen Class B 11 days ago, and has no possible chance

12. IMPALA DE VAL – Winner of a 2450m Caen monté Class D on 12 October. Has shown his form under harness more than once this term and will be dangerous if he keeps trotting

13. ILLUSION JIPAD – Has not been seen out since being sanctioned in a 2850m Gr.3 here last June. Is barefoot though, with JMB reining, and could pleasantly surprise

Summary: Unlucky here late-September, IRIS FROM (2) showed her form in the provinces early this month, excels with Alexandre Abrivard and, reconfigured for the occasion, can make amends and impose this time. INTOUCHABLE (7) ran 2nd that day and is plainly close to his best, but may first have to see off barefoot monté star IMPALA DE VAL (12) whose penultimate harness start resulted in victory. A place behind Matthieu Abrivard’s charge here recently, IRON JET (5) will be competitive for a step on the podium.

SELECTIONS
IMPALA DE VAL (12) – INTOUCHABLE (7) – IRON JET (5) – ILAYA (10)
C6 – PRIX D’AVESNES – 2850m (a2m) – Class C Race – Mounted – EUR € 53,000

1. DAMISELA – Starts for first time since faulting in a 2875m Enghien Class D early-August. Top jockey on board, has twice placed over track and trip, and is unlikely to disappoint

2. UCCELLONE – Quality German sort taking first monté steps in a field of experienced horses and is unlikely to have any influence on the result

3. JOLLY ROGER – Pleasant in last 2, latterly 5th behind JOKER DU HAMEL (12) in a Class C over track and trip mid-month, but will still need to raise his game

4. JUDICIEUX – Sanctioned early in a 2850m harness Class C here 3 weeks ago. Unexceptional on recent monté debut and still something of an outsider

5. JACK DES MALBERAUX – Off the boil since the summer, most recently last but one in a 2850m harness Class C here 3 weeks ago and, even though reconfigured, can still be confidently passed over

6. JABLO DU CHENE – Won 3 on the trot right-handed before finishing 6th of 9, behind JAMBIER D’OURVILLE (9), in a Class C under these conditions mid-September. Has had time to recalibrate and will be expected to show improvement

7. JIROBELLO – Has not been seen out since running 2nd of 8 in a Class C over course and distance last April. Has proved a revelation under the saddle though and Mathieu Mottier means business. Claim

8. JIRI PACHA – Sanctioned when preparing for this in a 2875m Enghien harness Class B a month ago. Boasts superb monté credentials and will be no pushover

9. JAMBIER D’OURVILLE – Ran 3rd over track and trip before finishing 8th of 9, when being conditioned, in a harness Class B under these conditions mid-month. Shoes off this time and could even impose

10. JUSTICIA GLAM – 8th of 16 in a 2800m Chartres harness Class B 2 weeks ago. Looked very average on lone monté start and even with hind shoes off, appears to have too much to do

11. JUNIOR BERDIERE – Flattering 4th of 6 finishers in a Class B over track and trip on 4 October. Front shoes off this time but others still preferred

12. JOKER DU HAMEL – Tough individual that has done nothing but improve lately, most recently 2nd of 7 in a Class C over course and distance mid-month, and must be regarded a decent first-5 prospect

Summary: JIROBELLO (7) enjoyed quite the renaissance last winter when returning to the ridden code and barefoot for comeback, can get straight back down to business. Difficult to fault when barefoot though, JAMBIER D’OURVILLE (9) made the frame under these conditions last month and will be expected to apply significant pressure. JIRI PACHA (8) returns to a discipline in which he excels and, shoes off for the occasion, must be respected. DAMISELA (1) makes her first appearance since the spell and the engagement of Alexandre Abrivard will only work to her advantage.

SELECTIONS
JIROBELLO (7) – JAMBIER D’OURVILLE (9) – JIRI PACHA (8) – DAMISELA (1)
C7 – PRIX DES CEVENNES – 2850m (a2m) – Gr3 Race – Harness – EUR € 90,000

1. HEDE DARLING – 5th of 11 in a 2700m Class B here a month ago. Not as sharp as he was during the summer and can be ruled out

2. I CAN DREAM – Has progressed nicely over recent months, latterly 2nd of 7 in a Gr.3 over course and distance late-September, but in this elite company will have her work cut out

3. ORACLE TILE – Drops in class after finishing an unthreatening 8th of 13 behind GANAY DE BANVILLE (6) in 2100m Gr.1 UET Elite Circuit Finale here on 11 October. Benjamin Rochard in the bike this time and will afford him every chance

4. GASPAR D’ANGIS – Failed to confirm Lyon-Parilly Gr.3 victory when sanctioned in 2875m Gr.3 Grand Prix Anjou-Maine at Meslay-du-Maine on 2 October. Eric Raffin renews faith however and can play a leading role if he keeps his charge trotting

5. INMAROSA – Failed to fire in last 2, latterly last but one behind GANAY DE BANVILLE (6) in 2100m Gr.1 UET Elite Circuit Finale here on 11 October. Has little room for manoeuvre but with some luck in running can get a look-in

6. GANAY DE BANVILLE – Beat 2 Prix d’Amérique winners when 2nd of 13, at 18/1, in 2100m Gr.1 UET Elite Circuit Finale here on 11 October and, if still on the boil, can run away with this

7. HUSSARD DU LANDRET – Double Gr.1-winning sort making 3rd start of the season. Still in conditioning mode though and best to wait

8. GU D’HERIPRE – Encouraging 7th of 12 finishers, on 2nd start since the break, in 2875m Gr.3 Grand Prix Anjou-Maine at Meslay-du-Maine on 2 October. Front pads fitted again and should not be underestimated

9. HOKKAIDO JIEL – 5th of 12 finishers, on first start back, in 2875m Gr.3 Grand Prix Anjou-Maine at Meslay-du-Maine on 2 October. Front shoes off this time and looks a major player

10. ELVIS DU VALLON – Disappointing in UET Final but made amends when 2nd of 9, at 54/1, in a 2575m Agen Gr.2 last week. Unlikely to repeat but can still make first 5

11. IDEALE DU CHENE – 10th of 12, on re-entry, in Meslay race of reference. Has other priorities and can be disregarded

Summary: Remarkable runner-up in the Gr.1 UET Final here 3 weeks ago, GANAY DE BANVILLE (6) makes a notable drop in class and appears to have the measure of most here. JMB will still want to be wary of HOKKAIDO JIEL (9) who is shod as he was when 3rd in the Gr.2 Prix Chambon P last time under these conditions, and GU D’HERIPRE (8) who gave a reassuringly-good account at Meslay early this month. GASPAR D’ANGIS (4) won a Parilly Gr.3 before faulting at Meslay and will be no soft touch if Eric Raffin manages to keep him focused.

SELECTIONS
GANAY DE BANVILLE (6) – HOKKAIDO JIEL (9) – GU D’HERIPRE (8) – GASPAR D’ANGIS (4)
C8 – PRIX D’AMIENS – 2700m (a1m1/2) – Class C Race – Harness – EUR € 53,000

1. JOPH DE VANDEL – Has ability but sanctioned in 5 of last 6, latterly a 2100m Class D here a month ago. Races barefoot with Alexandre Abrivard in the bike, but others still preferred

2. JACK L’EVENTREUR – 7th of 10, behind JERZINHO SPORT (6), in a 2850m Class D here late last month and will have nothing to contribute

3. JUBY DE BAILLY – Last of 16 when being prepared for this in a 2800m Chartres Class B 2 weeks ago and, barefoot or not, can expect to remain friendless in the markets

4. JERICHO – Ran 4th at La Capelle before dominating a 2100m Class D here on 17 September. Eric Raffin maintains faith and must be considered a serious contender

5. JOTUNN DU DOME – Made up for a pair of sanctions when 4th of 15, behind JOLI MANNEQUIN (12), in a 2850m Class C here 3 weeks ago. Put in quite the finish that day and with form maintained, can make the frame this time

6. JERZINHO SPORT – 4th of 10 in a 2850m Class D here late last month. Has never disappointed when barefoot and focused and is unlikely to go home empty-handed

7. JALDO D’OCQUE – Out of the picture in last 3, most recently 12th of 15 behind JOLI MANNEQUIN (12) in a 2850m Class C here 3 weeks ago, and can be passed over

8. JAGUAR DU FAN – Was not disgraced when 6th of 15, behind JOLI MANNEQUIN (12), in a 2850m Class C here 3 weeks ago, but is unlikely to improve on that

9. JEROCASH DE PHYT’S – Last of 9, on first start for as many months, in a Class B under these conditions mid-month. Shoes on again and best to keep one’s powder dry

10. JERENAL D’HAMELINE – Fine campaigner that ran 2nd of 12 finishers in a 2900m Challans Class D 2.5 weeks ago. Antoine Wiels back in the bike and has a realistic chance of keeping his unbeaten barefoot record intact

11. JACKMAN – Has two races under his belt since the break, most recently last but one behind JINGLE LOVER (14) in a 2100m Class C here last Friday. Barefoot this time and has a decent chance of opening his 2024 account

12. JOLI MANNEQUIN – Blows hot and cold but gave a fine account 3 weeks ago, coming 3rd of 15 in a 2850m Class C here, and should be taken more seriously this time

13. JOLIVERT DU GERS – Reassuring 3rd of 16 in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B early-October. Seldom lets the side down at Vincennes and will be expected to finish in the mix

14. JINGLE LOVER – Could have finished closer than 6th of 14 in a 2100m Class C here last week if he had not been denied a run, and will not be available at 38/1 this time around. Place prospect

15. JEU COQUIN – 6th of 9, on return to competition, in a Class B over course and distance mid-October. Is still being conditioned though and others easier to back

16. JOKER D’OCCAGNES – Last but one behind JOLIVERT DU GERS (13), when preparing for this in a 2800m Rambouillet Class B on 6 October. Barefoot this time but would have better prospects on a more even surface

Summary: A wonderful example of reliability, JERENAL D’HAMELINE (10) took no time making his presence felt following the summer break and, unbeaten when barefoot, can make this his own. He will however face opposition from JACKMAN (11) who imposed over course and distance the last time he raced barefoot, and the complicated JOTUNN DU DOME (5) who finished in eye-catching fashion last time out. JINGLE LOVER (14) would have defied his odds here last Friday had he been afforded a run and Paul Ploquin will be eager to put things right.

Summary: BIG DREAM CEN (8) looks good on paper, he is out of a smart mare who won a Listed race and was placed in Group 3 races. He is preferred to SHAMSAT (2) who showed some talent on his debut at Chantilly at the end of September. He will improve from that effort. BIBE MUS (1) is also worth considering after a fourth-placed effort on debut at this track earlier this month. POET ORTEN (7) makes up the shortlist.

C2 – PRIX DES AZALEES – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Maiden Race – Flat – EUR € 23,000

1. NYRA – Has been 2nd on both of her starts, the latter over 1800m at Dortmund (DEU) on October 5th. Others make more appeal

2. ROSA GALLICA – Two nice runs so far, the latest when she was 4th at Chantilly over 1900m on October 1st in a maiden. Can play a lead role

6. FLAMME ROUGE – Credible 4th on the last run over 1950m at Le Mans on September 28th in a maiden. One to keep safe

7. GINALYAH – Unraced filly by Chachnak, the dam ran twice. Will be well prepared by connections. Watch the betting for clues

10. VALERIE – Newcomer by Elarqam, will improve for this debut run. Any market support should be noted

Summary: ROSA GALLICA (2) has shown enough on both of her runs to take this maiden event. She was a decent fourth last time in an above-average maiden at Chantilly on the PSF and will be more at home back on turf. TAVARUA (3) is a danger, she was a close-up sixth on her only start at Le Mans and will be shaper for that outing. SEONA (5) has shown a nice level of ability in two runs and can make the frame. FLAMME ROUGE (6) is also worth a mention.
