  1. GAME RUN – Group II winner of the Prix du Gros-Chêne last year. Unplaced (13th) in the course-and-distance reference race on 27 November but finished with running him – has the means to gain compensation/set the record straight
  2. MAJOR OAK – Versatile handicapper who won 3 in a row from July to August, including a 1200m Quinte+ on turf at this venue (resulted in a total 12kg penalty). Finished 8th in a course-and-distance Quinte+ on 27 November – dark horse
  3. GOLUPTIOUS – Made a successful start to life in this category, winning the 27 November course-and-distance benchmark race. Has more to do under a 4,5kg penalty but shouldn’t be underestimated
  4. CIAO PA’ – Thriving colt at the top of his game, and is proven at this level (albeit on turf) off a similar mark. Showed both his form and well-being by winning over 1300m on PSF at Chantilly on 23 November – on the shortlist
  5. CENTENARIO – Unplaced in his last 6 Quinté+ appearances, the latest (11th) over 1400m on turf at ParisLongchamp in early September – subsequently finished 5th over 1350m at Cholet on 3 November. Others preferred
  6. ROCAMBOLESQUE – Unexposed colt whose limits are unknown, though lacks references on PSF – has regained momentum with 2 comeback outings after a year’s absence. Won a 1200m conditions race at Nantes on 1 November and can’t be underestimated back on this surface in his handicap debut – beware!
  7. GAILLARD – Honest hard-knocker who finished a reassuring 5th in the 27 November course-and-distance benchmark event off his current mark. Place chance
  8. SEE YOU PINK – Soundly beaten (11th) in the course-and-distance reference race on 27 November but isn’t hastily condemned, having finished 5th in a well-composed Class 2 over track and trip in her previous outing. Warrants respect
  9. WONDER BOY – Venerable veteran and PSF specialist who showed his form and well-being by winning a course-and-distance handicap on 27 November. Ought to remain competitive despite a 3,5kg penalty
  10. BACCHILIDE – Versatile performer who continues to blow hot and cold but retains the means to acquit himself competitively at this level on PSF. Unplaced (10th) in a 1200m Quinte+ at Fontainebleau on 4 November but is best kept safe
  11. IGNOL – Model of consistency in handicaps on both surfaces, boasting sound references/form credentials. Showed his form and well-being by finishing 3rd in a 1400m handicap on this course on 26 November – not taken lightly
  12. NIGHT OF LIGHTNING – Won a 1200m Marseille-Borely handicap on 22 October and subsequently finished 6th in a 1400m Madrid race last month. Best watched for now in his first PSF appearance
  13. MALINOVKA – Consistent and versatile performer whose references/form credentials (albeit at a lower level) include a recent course-and-distance 5th in a handicap on 27 November. Outsider at this level
  14. REVE DE VALLARSA – Inconsistent colt with undeniable means. Didn’t go unnoticed (6th) on his return from a 3-month absence in a 1600m PSF handicap at Pau on 5 December – has scope to improve
  15. ROYALWOOD – Placed in consecutive Quinté+ handicap sprints (1200m) before finishing 12th in a course-and-distance event on 27 November – seemed stretched by this extended distance. For another day
  16. BARGING THRU – Has found his way in French handicaps recently, winning back-to-back PSF handicaps – the latest on this course over 1400m on 4 December. Will appeal to lovers of outsiders
    Summary: A Group II sprint winner last year, GAME RUN (1) is an attractive betting proposition here, despite finishing unplaced (13th) in the reference race last month. He had legitimate excuses that day and finished with running in him, so is worth another chance. Veteran WONDER BOY (9), a convincing last-start winner, unexposed ROCAMBOLESQUE (6), thriving CIAO PA’ (4), and even BACCHILIDE (10), who is better than his latest performance suggests, are others with legitimate podium ambitions.

  19. VENTS CONTRAIRES – Returned to form with a reassuring course-and-distance 5th in a similar event on 27 November. Changed hands since and should go well again for new stable/connections
  20. CHANCE – Unplaced in 5 appearances this year, all on PSF – twice in claimers and 3 in handicaps, including a last-start 10th over 1600m at Chantilly on 19 November. Could fare better back in this grade
  21. MR CASSIOPE – Versatile hard-knocking colt with sound references in Quinte+ handicaps on both surfaces and 2 wins from as many appearances in this category, albeit on turf. Unplaced (9th) in a 1600m Saint-Cloud handicap last month (10 November) but shouldn’t be underestimated back at this level, even on PSF
  22. AMI SOLEDAD – Unplaced in 5 appearances this year, all on PSF – the latest (15th) on this track in a 2500m Quinte+ handicap on 26 November. Should fare better dropped in class over a shorter trip
  23. OCEANIA – Consistent performer in Germany and caught the eye when finishing 3rd in a 2500m Saint-Cloud claimer on 15 November, finishing ahead of subsequent Quinté+ winner Havoc. Candidate for success
  24. LAMENTO – Inconsistent, lightly raced 7-year-old whose references at a higher level include a course-and-distance 2nd in a Quinte+ handicap. Unplaced (8th) on turf over 2000m in Germany on 27 October – attractive outsider
  25. LOUVRE – A four-year-old newcomer. This daughter of Ultra is trained by Yoann Bonnefoy – best watched for now
  26. GLOBAL CRISIS – Unplaced in 9 starts on turf across the Channel and in all 3 appearances on French soil this year, the latest (9th) on this course in a 1400m claimer on 4 December. Others preferred
    Summary: Lightly raced ANONYMOUS (1) has nothing to prove at this level and is good value to continue his winning ways after adding to his tally at Lyon-La Soie earlier this month. VENTS CONTRAIRES (3), a former Quinté+ winner, ought to acquit himself competitively in this grade, so he leads the opposition ahead of OCEANIA (7), after an encouraging start on French soil, and AMI SOLEDAD (6), back over a distance that serves his interests.

  42. ZANTARIO – Unreliable veteran and currently out of sorts – unplaced in consecutive handicaps on this course recently, the latest (7th) in a course-and-distance handicap on 27 November. Others preferred
    Summary: MINO PICO (3) was game in defeat when 2nd on this course last month. She wouldn’t be winning out of turn and her consistency could be rewarded here with Delphine Santiago again in the irons. BRAVEHEART (5), who finished 3rd in that race, and proven PSF specialist CRACK CITY (10) are best equipped to challenge the slection for race honours. LORD POST OFFICE (14), a start-to-finish winner recently, and BLUE DREAM (13) appeal most of the remainder.

  50. NABUNGA – Versatile 12-year-old veteran with references on both surfaces – finished 4th in a course-and-distance claimer last month and didn’t go unnoticed (5th) in a 2100m PSF claimer at Pornichet on 15 December. Outsider
  51. RAMY SON ETINCELLE – An 11-start maiden soundly beaten in 10 turf appearances and in her first start on this surface (14th) last time in a 2400m handicap at Pornichet on 8 December. Others preferred
  52. POWER PAPERS – Placed once in 5 PSF appearances and finished unplaced (5th) last time on heavy ground at Mont-de-Marsan over 2000m on 10 November. For another day
  53. CLAIR DE LUNE – Lightly raced filly with sound references/form credentials, albeit on turf. Unplaced (8th) in her only start on the PSF and in a 2400m handicap (11th) on heavy ground at Craon on 1 December. Respected at this level, though
    Summary: PANGAEA (5) acquitted himself well in a better/stronger race last time and needs only to repeat that performance to bounce back to winning ways. CLAIR DE LUNE (11) takes part in her first claiming race so shouldn’t be underestimated, which can also be said of WEST MARTIN (3), a newcomer to this category too. STILYKER (1) has never disappointed at this level so also warrants respect. DATO (7) comes next.

  59. BRIONA – Won at Lyon Parilly in the Autumn over 2400m in a claimer and was a decent 3rd two starts ago at Fontainebleau on November 4th over 2600m. Supplemented for this and can be involved
  60. LUMINESCE – Has dropped in the handicap after a few unplaced runs, the most recent at Chantilly over 2700m in a conditions race on December 7th. Drop to a claimer and is an each-way angle
  61. SANTA LUCIA – Won on her penultimate start over 2000m at Durtal on November 23rd in a Class 3 race. Has place claims at nice odds
  62. L’INITIE – Credible 3rd at Pornichet on November 30th over 3100m in a maiden recently. Has yet to win in 17 attempts and others make more appeal
  63. DOM DIEGO – Three unplaced runs so far, 5th two starts ago in a maiden at Toulouse probably the best of them on September 18th over 3000m. Place chance
  64. FIRST DIVA – Three unplaced runs of late, won before that over 2250m at Niort in a Class 3 race on June 9th. Has work to do
  65. BORGHAL – Two unplaced runs since a 2nd at Machecoul over 2350m in a claimer on November 3rd. Hardly inspiring
  66. NOUSDEUX – 6th last time over 2400m at Saint-Cloud on November 15th in a handicap. Has been placed on this track before on the PSF. Outside place chance

    Summary: RAYO DE LUZ (15) ran a nice race at Pau in late November, finishing fifth in a handicap on the PSF. Down in grade and tries a claimer, she can be involved. She is effective on all types of surfaces. BRIONA (6) has been supplemented for this and can be involved although she can blow hot and cold. LUMINESCE (7) has dropped in the ratings but is more than capable of making an impact in a claimer. ESCUDO D’OURO (5) heads the remainder.

  80. CRYSTAL WINE – A winner in Poland twice recently, the latest at Sluzewiec over 2200m on October 27th. French debut and would be a surprise winner
    Summary: PRESAGE NOCTURNE (5) was not quite up to Group 1 Class last time at the end of October but was a close-up third in the Prix Gladiateur (Gr.3) in September before that and should get a deserved win. HOOKING (3) will try to make life difficult and looks like the main threat. He won on his penultimate start in a Class 1 race in September over 1900m. The trip might be the one issue. PRECIOUS JEWEL (10) is still unexposed and can not be overlooked. THE GOOD MAN (6) is also worth considering.

    Summary: KHAN (2) could be the answer if he manages to get a good start from stall 10. He won a Class 2 handicap over 1200m at this track on turf in July last year and handles the PSF. IRISHKAMAYA (7) could be the main threat, she has been consistent and can be rewarded for her honest performances. MERCURISSIME (14) is one to include in all of the place bet permutations.     Summary: EVERWIN (1) likes this track and although dropping back to 1300m might not be ideal, he can edge this from a decent draw in stall 6. MA MOME (4) has an ideal starting position in stall 1 and can get back on track after a few unplaced efforts recently. GODESSA (5) is one for the each-way backers to take seriously. VICTORY SALUTE (3) warrants respect and can have a say in proceedings.

That being said, LADY DE VANDEL (12) also comes to Cabourg on a hat-trick and will not be easily disposed of.   109. LORD PARKER – 2nd of 14 on monté debut in a 2850m Laval Class F on 8 December. Comes to Cabourg with morale intact and looks good enough to contest the finish
  110. LE CLASSIC – Debuts in the discipline and makes first appearance since finishing 9th of 12 in a 2725m Class E here in early-October. Comes here fresh and will not be far off the mark
  111. LEGO DES BROUETS – Beaten only by a good horse in a 2700m Vincennes Class E on 26 November. Transformed since starting to race with pads and looks the one to beat
  112. LIKE POWER – Back under the saddle after finishing last but one in a 2850m Vincennes harness Class E 3 weeks ago. Sports pads this time and and can get in on the action if Adrien Lamy keeps him focused
    Summary: A different horse since returning to the discipline, LEGO DES BROUETS (9) is plainly close to his race and can win this if he takes to the new conditions. There will be a day when LORD PARKER (7) is no longer a bridesmaid and he will have progressed for his ridden bow. Padded for a much-awaited return to the code, LIKE POWER (10) will be ridden by Adrien Lamy.
